Reviews of The Lost ARC
G. N.
Fantastic café with amazing food. We ordered welsh rarebit and goat's cheese quiche. Both were very tasty and reasonably priced. Went back following 2 mornings for breakfast. Would highly recommend the pancakes with berries, coconut yogurt and maple syrup. Oh, and make sure you try the smoothies as they are superb. Shame our holiday ended and we didn't get to try everything.
G. D.
What a fantastic place, great atmosphere, great food and fantastic, friendly staff.
All this and dog friendly too.
We're from Manchester, this is our second visit, each time we've managed to miss the music.
Has to be third time lucky!
We'll be back, and hopefully this time catch some live music.
The stage area looks fabulous, great place all round.
B. E.
We found this place having walked along the river from the campsite. Popped in at lunchtime. There was a friendly welcome and we were invited to select a place to sit. I had a delicious Welsh rarebit and my wife had a quiche which she thoroughly enjoyed. The side salads to both dishes were very good.
We had to wait a little longer for the food than I would have liked, but it was worth it!
Quality food at a reasonable price.
We will come again when back in the area.

Just wow! What a lucky find this was! I had seen it on Google maps and on Luckycow (the vegan app) but those things didn’t really give much clue as to what a real treasure the place actually is. We found it in the end by chance, following our noses down a side street. Wonderful venue, wonderful staff, wonderful food, fantastic vibe in the whole place. I had the vegan sausage sandwich as the ‘big up’ option which adds some nice crisps as a tasty salad.
S. J.
I love this cafe. Excellent choices for veggies, vegans and omnivores alike. Friendly staff and a lovely vibe. Near to Elan Valley.
K. T.
Fantastic food and such a great atmosphere. The cakes are just to die for, lots of amazing vegan food too which is such a treat after a week of standard pub chip dinners.
g. r.
A lovely hidden gem. Small place with a nice atmosphere, chilled background music and a collection of tastful wall paintings for decorations. Brwakfast food was good and had a good selection of cakes. Will come again for dinner sometime.
K. N.
Pizza night was fantastic. Our group all enjoyed our meals, it was excellent. Good choice of drinks too, and friendly staff
S. B.
Delicious well priced food. Lovely staff. Lovely atmosphere. Even though we came 5 minutes after the kitchen closed, they were lovely enough to let us still order. Coffee was well made, and came in beautiful handmade mugs. Highly recommend.
H. G.
A wonderful, charming cafe in beautiful surroundings with friendly, attentive staff. Did not book beforehand and they informed us they were running short of dough but managed to fit us in. Tasty gorgeous pizzas on Fridays.
They also have an extensive range of cakes all vegan friendly and good coffee.
The server told us about a lovely woodland and river walk nearby.
My only tip would be too prepare more dough for walk ins during the holiday season as non locals would not know to book a table.
I look forward to returning.

Found by chance, but we will definitely be back. Stunning food in the lovely garden. Fresh coffee and such a tasty roast dinner. The staff were so kind and helpful and made my son an awesome sandwich off the menu. Thank you again for making our day out even more special.
B. T.
Stopped here for breakfast, absolutely amazing. Food was perfect and staff were very friendly.
M. B.
Dogs are allowed and they was able to easily accommodate my son with his milk allergy. The young lad who served us was very professional for his age too. Just a simple jacket spud was amazing due the side it comes with . 5 stars from us
G. P.
Didn't see alot about this online. And was looking for a bite to eat that we could take the dogs into.
My partner had a jacket potato with salad and would of happily just eaten the salad was really good and fresh
I on the other hand had the Portobello mushroom burger and I will rate it in my top 5 burger I have ever had didn't come with anything else other than the burger but didn't need anything else. Shame I'm Going home tomorrow other wise I'd call in again tomorrow for lunch.
r. b.
I stopped here on my motorbike after riding past a sign with a big arrow and 'CAFE' written on it. What a jem of a place!!!! the service and coffee were brilliant.
Will definitely return again.
Y. H.
What's not to love! The people who run the place, the food, the live music and all in a smokey little town in the hills. Exactly what mid Wales needs. Definitely my favourite spot for food and music
M. C.
Saw sandwich board for this place on the road, tucked away behind a few buildings. Excellent little cafe/ restaurant, had the veggie breakfast, very nice too.....staff, attentive and friendly. I was seated away from the cafe area in the stage area at the back of the building as it was a cold day (for May) and the table available in the cafe was near the door. Appreciated that they had considered this, as I turned up on my road bike.....I was told the cafe has only been open a year, but seems popular with the locals and hope they get the success they deserve during these difficult times.
J. L. W.
Very lovely little cafe hidden away in Rhayader. Staff were very friendly and upbeat, smiling throughout the visit. The cafe was clean and cosy, with ample seating. The food was very nice, portion sizes were good with prices to match! We had the breakfast special Moroccan egg Florentine and a full Welsh.
R. M.
Hidden gem so worth the stop, friendly staff and amazing food! My first Welsh rarebit and now I want it all the time. Salad was delish, wish I was more hungry when I went this time.
C. O.
A lovely Welsh Breakfast, Really enjoyed the meal and everything was prepared to perfection, even the Latte was delicious and hot, recommend it 100%.
H. A.
If you like to experience great hospitality with history then this is the place for you. Paul and Glenda have their heart and souls invested in what was a derelict building. Words alone cannot capture this experience. Wonderful setting and quality food. Nice range of wine and beer to compliment an amazing wood fired pizza. Vegan in your party then worry not, we had a full meaty spicy option with the Welsh rarebit and WOW.
L.
We had the perfect lunch at The Lost Arc today! Lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff. Our sandwiches and coffee were delicious, we’ll be back!
R. R. &. E.
Come here often and wouldn't recommend anywhere else for food. Always 10/10.
l. p.
Legitimately incredible. Quality food with wonderful friendly staff. Dog friendly and probably the best pancakes I’ve had in 15 years
S. J. M.
Loved this little find on our way through Elan Valley, lovely garden and the food was amazing, delicious cakes!
we walked over towards the park and had a swim in the river after lunch.
Amazing place
P. B.
Popped in for lunch on our way to Elan Valley. Sat outside in the large garden area as it was a lovely day. Both got the salad, myself with goats cheese and my partner with halloumi. So tasty and fresh! If we are in the area again we will be sure to drop by.
M. C.
Good vegan food. Sources bands frequently from all over so is a great music hub. Lovely staff and owners. Great asset to the area - Diolch.
O. (. S.
Really nice so glad we popped in here on the way by. Staff were very helpful and the food was lovely. Saved and definitely will be returning again.
M. O.
Art centre cafe, has carpark, and large outside dining area. This was our first visit. We arrived aprox 1pm, asked where we'd like to sit and shown to available table. Decent menu choice, with daily specials board. Menu catering for most dietary choices/needs.
We chose Quiche of the day, with salads, coffee and fresh orange juice. The food and drink were delivered to the table in no time at all. The quiche was leek and mature cheddar, the pastry was beautifully crisp and the leek and cheese filling was fantastic, loads of leeks, and lots of cheese, and a generous portion of quiche. There was a combination of 3 salads served with the quiche, a sweet red cabbage, cous cous with various Mediterranean veg, and a bean and chicken pea. All fresh and very tasty. The orange juices were large portions and the coffee was really nice, smooth and flavoursome flat white.
The place was very clean, and had a nice atmosphere, and the staff were attentive and friendly.
There appeared to be separate menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner, though we only saw the lunch version. They appear to have regular music sessions in the evening and other entertainment on at various times.
We'd definately go again when next in the area, and would highly recommend a visit.
K. R.
Not the location you would expect, but what a nice surprise. A place for breakfast, a place for your lunch, for your cappuccino, for your dinner (respect the menu, accept as it is), but also an excellent musical venue The latter is due to the most excellent sound of the hall: no bouncing echosounds, but the dry sound just like in a recordingstudio (clap your hands in the room and you will understand). Owner Paul took the time for a wonderfull chat and a small tour, telling about the building's history. It made my day.
F. w.
Delicious vegan pancakes, a perfect start of the day!
S. B.
Very nice indeed. Stopped off on Saturday 9 July 2022 on our way north. Altogether and very good place to know with good food choices.
M. S.
Great location which we found almost by accident driving from the Elan Valley (have to thank Google Maps for that), cool outdoor seating on split levels, off the main road so the only noises come from the river flowing nearby and people chatting - the staff were friendly, the coffee was excellent, as was the rarebit - and the crockery was lovely too!
T. P.
Great breakfast, great coffee. Friendly staff, nice place, dog friendly, good free parking. Check the days it’s closed before visiting.
D. P.
This is such a great music venue and café. The acoustics are 👌 and we loved their food with a wide and varied selection of vegan options
K. F.
Excellent visit. Great with allergies..
Especially the gluten free chocolate brownie and very kind to the dogs..all.four of them!
P. R.
We called in for coffee and cake. Excellent!
Lovely location. Good service. Gorgeous food.
D. T.
Great breakfast and brunch selections for everyone, including vegetarians and vegans. A really of ours when we are near to the Elan Valley.
N. M. (.
Food was alright, nothing special but service is ridiculously slow - would be better if service was quicker.
I don't mind waiting if the quality is there when the food arrives unfortunately the quality didn't justify the waits
S. C.
Went to a gig here on Friday evening, having never found this amazing place before. What a great venue and fab atmosphere. Lovely friendly staff and tasty homemade pizzas cooked in a wood fired oven. Will definitely be coming again.
K. D.
Lovely lunchtime stop before our accommodation was ready, rarebit and salad was lovely. Make sure you arrive before 3 for lunchtime menu. Around this area is a nice river and lots of amenities like a butchers, green grocers and supermarkets.
J. B.
Rather tucked away but what a gem of a place. Fantastic food, service and staff. Cooked to perfection and really enjoyed
Definitely going back..
A. S.
Sunday Lunch is a hit! Fresh, tasty and with as equally tasty veg options. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere.
A. M.
We had a pesto and Mediterranean veg tart and various salads which was amazing! Lovely venue and location off the beaten track, if possible, in Rhayader.
J. B.
Great food/coffee & excellent polite service. In tranquil setting. Definitely my go to coffee shop in the area.
m. t.
Such a lovely welcoming place .Too late to eat a meal but the cakes were home cooked and gorgeous.
M. P.
Stayed at Mid Wales Holiday Lets just around the corner and, as a relatively large group, decided to get takeaway pizza for an evening meal. What a find!
The staff couldn't have been more accommodating with our large order. Took our number and let us know when each of the three batches of orders were ready for collection.
Needless to say, the fresh, stone baked pizzas were fantastic. Great choice of toppings to suit meat lovers, vegetarians and vegans alike. The outdoor seating area there also looked superb. Highly recommended.
N.
Absolutely loved this place!!! Beautiful food and great chilled out atmosphere - I'll be back!!
G. D.
My most favourite place to eat in Powys. Lovely food prepared with love. Fab coffee. Atmosphere is great, friendly open chef & servers.
Worth experiencing!
P. C.
Nice place, there is a smaller cafe sized area and a much more spacious hall side, which made it suitable for our large dog. Food was really good and sensible price.
T. B.
An excellent find when passing through, food is excellent, served with a smile and friendly chat from the owner if he is around. The place is walker/cyclist and dog friendly and the Breakfast is awesome. I was so happy we came back on our way home.
P. A.
Today we were "raiders of the last arc". A wonderful cosy cafe in Rhayader near the river. Food was excellent as was coffee. The staff were very friendly and gave us great tips about the area for walking and forthcoming acts coming to the stage st the arc. Great place. Thank you all@
A. S.
Delicious home cooked food made with fresh local produce. You can't beat a cooked breakfast here. The cafe itself is easy accessible, with great indoor and outdoor ares and to top it all off really lovely staff and management, who make you feel so welcome.
M. L.
Lovely cafe with cute garden. We only had a coffee and cake (absolutely delicious Jaffa cake) but they also serve other food.
D. T.
Fantastic coffee and very tasty wholesome food. Must try the rarebit 👌 …
M. A.

S. T.
Lovely cafe. Friendly staff and good food.
t. b.
Lovely food, great staff. Just the ticket!
A. D.
During our cycling trip through Wales we came across this wonderful cafe and venue. We started with a coffee and cake here, which were so good we decided to come back only a few hours later for a delicious lunch too to be followed by wood-fired oven pizza's in the evening for dinner after our ride around Elan Valley. Truly wonderful place with plenty of seating indoor and outdoors, great quality fresh food and some very tasty vegan options too. In the evening we met the wonderful owners Paul and Glenda. Thank you once again and we'll be back!
A. S.
Food was lovely although menu limited. Lovely outdoor seating area but had to wait a while for someone to appear to take our dessert order. Nice selection of cakes.
D. S.
Been 3 times, twice for breakfast and once for a roast. Breakfast has been incredible, maybe the best I've had. I've tried the meat and veggie breakfast, pancakes and cake (not all at once). The roast was average, even sub-par but the service, setting and breakfasts have more than made up for it
C. N.
What an amazing find! Fantastic breakfast with delicious coffee and super friendly for kids which is important as we have 3! The plates and mugs they use to serve everything on is really beautiful and the owners are really nice. Great way to end our holiday in Wales.
M. R.
Nice breakfast and very friendly staff with good table service
J. B.
Venue was lovely, food was okay but staff didn't seem particularly organised
S. T.
So pleased we found this place. Only place we found that has decent coffee in the area. The scones and flapjacks are amazing. The menu looks lovely for breakfast and lunch. If we were staying linger would’ve been in again and again. Must visit if even passing through. If you’re lucky to meet the owners. You will love the history and the tales they have to tell. Seems to be a place for upcoming music talent to place in their hall also.
R. H.
Super friendly staff, lovely atmosphere and delicious food. Perfect sited for a short stroll along the river. Hidden away but well worth a visit
A. K.
Excellent coffee, delicious cakes and dog friendly throughout, if only they would sit still long enough for us to enjoy it more!
N. S.
Had lunch with friends - had a fabulous salad bowl, it consisted of salad leaves, cous cous, lentils, onions, fine green beans just to name a few of the plentiful ingredients. I had halloumi with mine. The waiter also advised us the salad bowl contained gluten (not that it made a difference to us!) which I thought was great to make anyone aware if they had a gluten intolerance. We ate outside in the back. Clean & tidy & covid awareness too. Will go again most definitely.
N. P.
Dropped in this morning for breakfast before a cycle ride around Cambrian Mountains. Fantastic Granola and coffee to set us up. Great atmosphere and the staff were so friendly
A. W.
Excellent food, friendly service with a smile and a thank you for frequenting. This is the place for an outstanding Welsh breakfast - well done you.
Look out for the Cafe blackboard sign on the road, head down keep left to the large car park and enjoy.
N. d. L. B.
Loved this little café, opened recently. Delicious home made food, the roast was very generous in quantity and all ingredients were fresh. We could tell!
Thank you for having us. A warm welcome and a chat also made the experience even nicer. Will definitely come back :)
J. W.
A quirky café in the mid Wales town of rhayader close to the beautiful Elan Valley. Plenty of seating, inside and out, a good range of drinks and scrummy cakes. Friendly service and a convenient car park from where you can pick up a path alongside the river. What's not to like 👍😃 …
C. R.
Breakfast acceptable for the price, good quality ingredients. Overall experience spoiled by long wait for breakfast and indifferent coffee. Not many customers at the time so perhaps we were just unlucky.
F. S.
Amazing place with great venue converted and food and coffee. Bands tend to play on the evening weekends sometimes. Really good place!
T. M.
Absolutely a hidden gem. Staff are really friendly and accommodating and the food is excellent with a wide selection of cakes and other tasty treats to choose from. Much recommended.

THIS IS NO GREASY SPOON.... such a lovely place up and coming.. the effort is amazing. Fresh food and ingredients sourced locally. From breakfast to a pizza oven. Smoothies and even healthy options including avocado and their own fresh salsa...even down to little things like help yourself to the infused oils. a must try set at a beautiful location riverside. Amazing menu and great prices.

Fantastic music, and always a lively, welcoming and friendly crowd. The staff at The Lost Arc are incredible hosts, and go out of their way to help. This venue is exactly what Rhayader and Mid Wales needs!
We recently had the most delicious pizza at the opening of their cosy new cafe - the food was delicious, as were the drinks, and the staff were really accommodating for vegan/gluten free/veggie requirements.
Will definitely be going back, and can't wait to see what's in store as the Lost Arc continues to grow and evolve.
D. S. r.
