Reviews of The Artisan Coffee & Art

Absolutely amazing experience. The staff were very cheery and funny, and the prices are reasonable considering other cafes around the area. The atmosphere is amazing with tons of art that can be bought. The quirky tea cosies are hilarious, one even had a fox on it. The cakes were divine and quite rich. Definitely will drop by again as it was absolutely delicious. Considering I'm not vegan, the BLT was fantastic.

Beautiful little coffee shop, so many fresh products too try, I tried the delicious elderflower garden lemonade and it was honestly the best drink I've had in a while 😍 I also had the bacon, cheese and tomatoe chutney sandwich which I was so excited to eat I forgot the photo!!! Defintley worth the visit!!!

Lovely little cafe. We sat upstairs where it was really private. The cakes were light and tasty. The quirky tea cosies were a nice touch although they should be washed more often as they were a little smelly

Lovely decor, reminds me of being at grandma's
Coffee is tasty, with a nice selection of snacks!!
I had soup last time and it was beautiful
Cakes are great too, perfect for Saturday lunch!!

Had a lovely lunch in this cafe with my daughter. The Victoria sponge was out of this world!!!!! Staff very welcoming
S. S.
Fab food and a great atmosphere. Just spent a lovely afternoon here with two daughters for an afternoon tea. Thank you

Loads of bacon, loads of eggs, that thick door stop bread and a big mug of coffee are just some of the reasons I'll be going back next time I'm in Hull. Not to mention the atmosphere which was very unique in a good way

We had our wedding meal at The Artisan and couldn't have been happier. We chose the Artisan as we wanted somewhere that did great food and drinks - but was also intimate with a lovely, romantic atmosphere. Emma went above and beyond to make sure we were happy - and the afternoon tea was absolutely perfect. We visit this amazing cafe regularly and could not recommend it highly enough. Patrick and Hollie

Great food, good service, really tasty artisan salad, other half loved his spup, coffee was lovely. We'll be back. Salads have gone but still a good choice of other things.
A. B.
Really pleasant atmosphere, staff are very accommodating and the prices are very reasonable. Good place to socialise with friends over a light bite and a coffee
S. F.
Fantastic friendly service, really feel welcome and relaxed in here, the coffee is immense, the savoury food is truly incredible and the cakes have to be the best in hull! Will definitely go again ☺️

Vegans and vegetarians, tell your friends, a CHOICE of delicious cakes made without using animal products. If you love independent artists there is loads of fab art up on the walls and available to purchase, and some quirky Little gift ideas too.

What a gem of a place. Lovely warm and friendly atmosphere with amazing cakes to top it all off. The individual tea cosys are amazing too!

The Artisan is a quirky but essentially traditional coffee house. Don't forget the hidden upstairs room as well as the café at street level. From the best doorstep toast through to a full afternoon tea, this place has great food to accompany it's excellent coffee. There are also some crafts for sale.
You will probably find a bourbon biscuit or a custard cream in your old-fashioned saucer. It's best to resist the urge to split it and lick off the filling, this is a nice area. Good luck with that.

Really like this coffee shop, nice chilled vibes and good food. Plus vegan options and gluten free xx

My daughter and i love this quirky, artisan, coffee shop. It has an old world charm, given it's original frontage. The ladies are warm and welcoming, giving the place a relaxed feel. It also helps when the cakes are delicious too. Can't wait to visit next week with my Mum., i know she'll appreciate a good pot of rosey lea too!

Love this coffee shop so much! It has the most lovely atmosphere and the most friendly staff! Coffee is a pretty average price around the £2-£4 mark depending on what you order. The staff are so lovely and kind, and the also offer plenty of vegan, veggie, and gluten free options! They have free WiFi which is always a nice bonus. Plan on going here many times again!

Brilliant coffee and a lovely place to sit outside and watch the world go by. Visit after lockdown and they're got a great set up to accommodate as many people as possible, whilst still offering take away options. And with a range of great alternative milks, including great oat milk, this is a true winner!
S. W.
Very nice cup of coffee the staff were very interactive and explained everything we need to know this cafe is in the middle of the avenue and the hits it perfectly so a warm and friendly place to have a coffee.

Went for afternoon tea with my sister, daughter-in-law and granddaughter. Absolutely lovely, we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Beautiful little place, filled with pictures by local artists. Gorgeous china cups and saucers and cake stands. Delicious sandwiches and cakes. Just perfect.

The best coffee shop ever, lovely food with selections for all dietary requirements including milks for coffee and hot chocolates!
S. D.
My daughter and I had afternoon tea as a special birthday treat. The tea was piping hot just as I like it and the novelty tea cosy was adorable and kept the tea nice and hot right to the last cup. The sandwiches were a nice mix, ranging from cucumber and cream cheese, curried chicken, ham and wholegrain mustard and cheese and pickle all on different breads. The scone we beautiful and light with lashings of cream and jam, very scrumptious. Unfortunately by this time we were unable to eat any more due to full bellies. I picked at the blueberries and strawberries and then we asked for the almond cake, chocolate cake and the lemon drizzle cake to be boxed up so that my daughter and son in law could enjoy a treat whilst camping tonight. Excellent service and great atmosphere. Many different arts and crafts to view and buy. It is a great place to take a book and have a read whilst grabbing a bite to eat. Or meet with friends for a catch up over coffee. Loved my visit today and will go back again soon.

Perfect little cafe to sit and chill, people watch, relax with friends. Vast amount of choice for vegans, and other dietary needs, with no flavour compromise.
Perfect for local small businesses and sole traders to showcase their items and to have a sales point.
Staff is super friendly as well which just adds to an already perfect place.

We had the afternoon tea. It did look very nice and we were served a tea stand each. The sandwiches were nice and fresh we had chicken, cheese, creme cheese and ham. However two of the cakes tasted dry and we were unsure what flavours / types they were, hardly no fruit in the scones and again dry. The best cake was the chocolate brownie and it was nice with the fresh strawberries and blueberries. Staff are lovely and friendly and its a quirky little cafe with nothing matching, lots to look at, arts & crafts. Unfortunately we did not think is was worth £15 each. As we have been elsewhere for half that price.
M. B.
Lovely food at reasonable prices, great selection of cakes. It's like a craft shop and a cafe mix.
V. P.
Such amazing drinks and pastries! Plus little gift items made by local artists. You must go!

We had a lovely walk to Newland Ave this afternoon, spotted this cafe, so stopped for a cuppa & fruit scone. It was lovely to see in use the lovely cups & saucers, also the teapots with handknitted t, cosy. Lovely cuppa & scone. Will call again.☺🙂☺🙂

Nice atmosphere but confused by having to order at counter. As very small place and so felt uncomfortable standing around. Great coffee and choice of cakes though.

This is a little gem of a place, on one of my favourite shopping thoroughfares, Newland avenue. Without exaggeration, you could feel like you are somewhere very cosmopolitan, like Camden Market in London, or anywhere in Paris. The staff are lovely and friendly, the food and drink excellent, and the place gives off a very cosy vibe. I can't recommend it enough, as a small, cosy/romantic place to sit and while away the afternoon. Do yourselves a favour, go and say hello. Xx
C. D.
Only ordered an iced latte, friendly staff and cute decor and atmosphere. Could have a better range of products available, maybe smoothies?

Visited on the 25th April for afternoon tea to celebrate my mother's birthday.
Afternoon tea consisted of 2 stands with tiers of 4 sandwiches, a scone with clotted cream and a preserve and some cakes and berries.
Upon first glance it looks a little small for the price of £15 per stand however we had to box some food up to take home as it was very filling!! We hadn't eaten all day either.
I was amazed at the cookies and cream hot chocolate I selected for no extra price (instead of tea) as seen in the pictures it was HUGE and was devine.
The sandwiches were lovely and there was plenty of range. The scone was soft and tasted amazing. Unsure why another review States them as dry was this was not the case with both of ours.
The cakes were not upto my tastes but the flapjack/cake was absolutely delicious.
The space itself is very well decorated, very quirky and 'instagramable'. Some may say it's small, I think it adds to the cosiness you would want from a coffee shop.
Staff went above and beyond to ensure that everything was upto scratch. They deserve a lot of credit for providing such a warm and friendly environment.
They were very accommodating of the 1 year old who accompanied us, offering a high chair and leaving space for us to put a pram, even offering sandwiches to keep him settled.
I would definitely return and recommend to anyone looking for a lovely place to celebrate an occasion.

Lovely place vintage looking and nice and warm and good ground coffee
M. G.
Very good portions of cake, nice coffee and hot chocolate. Would recommend.
N. C.
Delicious and interesting salads (from a person who does not, ever, go into cafe and order salad), great coffee and sumptuous cakes. They are genuinely vegan friendly too rather than the usual 'here's-a-thing-from-the-menu-with-the-taste-and-fun-removed'.
M. G.
Lovely little cafe, friendly staff, great coffee and a lovely scone to go with it. Would deffo go again.
G. G. B.
