Unfortunately it wasn't great today! Been there before and it was fine. But today they gave me meaty bacon and sausage when I ordered the veggie option. All the food and the tea was lukewarm! Think they were too busy for the amount of staff they had working there.

Based a day trip to Ipswich from here having lunch and dinner. "Café" is really understated. This is a coffee shop with fresh cakes and comfy sofas. It's an airy restaurant with a well put together menu of tasty food. It's a friendly bar with a large selection of spirits and frequent live music. With a good view of the marina and a short walk to the town centre and budget hotels its a true gem.

Nice cafe on the waterfront with quite a student halls bookish feel with comfy variable seating of tables and couch spaces. Loved the breakfast options especially the Frenedict which is a monster brunch meal by itself! 👍 Only missed a star on the 5* rating cos service on one occasion (we visited 3 times over a long weekend) was quite slow in spite of not being that crowded with no real reason 🤔 other than that would defo recommend this as one of the better joints for a cuppa, brunch or drink catchup in Ipswich!

I always recommend this place to people seeking a quirky, fun and good time. The menu isn’t breaking new ground in what it is but it does every dish really well and certainly won’t leave you feeling hungry. Great beer, delicious food, cool atmosphere and lovely place to hang out on a sunny days. A highlight of the Ipswich summer bar scene I would say.

Very good staff and a lovely cup of coffee. They have a wide selection of food and drinks on offer. While in lockdown they’ve provided a nice place to stop on my walk and grab a drink. I look forward to when the restrictions are lifted so they can put their benches back out. Great views of the river. If you have trouble finding it, just head for Noah’s Ark museum and it’s opposite.

They're seating and layout is the best in the town. It's like having a bar in my own house. The people are friendly and give a great service. The bar had an amazing range of beers, wines, spirits and they're coffee is decent. Not happy about the food though. I think they changed chefs recently and most of the pastry's on the counter are bland or too salt, like weird mush. And the menu got stripped down. It's less good pub food now and has become a little bit artsy but I don't think it's good enough to pull that off.

One of the most laid back places in Ipswich, great place to just chill on a comfy atmosphere.

This is a great place to relax and to socialize at any time of day. The bar is well supplied, the staff are approachable and the seating is great. The tables and chairs seem almost second hand and feel classy. With a selection of seating areas you can share a booth or use a comfortable sofa or even a long table for a larger gathering. The bar/restaurant is based underneath a university but when I visit it doesn't feel like a typical student bar. The views are very nice and the location on the waterfront makes it a great place to walk to or from.

Other drinking establishments in Ipswich should look to Cult Cafe as a shining example of how it can be done, and by not rushing to open like all the other establishments along the waterfront, have put safety over profits. Cult Cafe is a good place for a casual drink. I like the quirky decor and the hotchpotch furniture with lots of soft seating and wooden tables. The menu is limited compared with how it used to be but the food on offer is tasty and service is speedy. Cult attracts a really interesting mix of people too.

Best pancakes ever in this world! They are so big and fluffy, the size of burger buns! I had mine with banana jam and cinnamon and my partner had bacon and maple syrup, he said perhaps leaner bacon as they were a little on the fatty side, besides that they were lovely! I hate going to places that can make food I can make at home, but this place has topped my breakfast go to!

Cult always have great entertainment and if there isn't anything going on you can always grab a board game to play. The place is comfortable, with lots of comfy chairs and sofas. I find the biggest disappointment here is the drinks selection, I find they have gone for the cheaper options rather than the better options which is disappointing but equally understandable given its location. However on visiting the barmaid Chloe was super helpful with finding me a beverage that I could and would enjoy.

Used it as a central location for meeting friends one evening and found it was perfect. Music wasn't too loud, keen bar staff, chatty and welcoming. Food available and you can see it being prepared. Right on the quay-side if you like that kind of thing. Car park is near and quite cheap but don't leave it overnight as it will cost you!

I absolutely love the atmosphere here, plus you can always count on at least 2-3 cakes you can’t choose between. The whole team is cheerful with an alternative vibe which is lovely. Only fault, but I am not marking them down, is the coffee - the last two times I have been the coffee has been awful almost like something is off - perhaps the syrup?! I always get my coffee to go when I nip in and always get half way to work before trying as it’s so hot - and find myself in the same situation again. I will say something when I nip in next time as it’s such a shame and nobody wants to have to throw their caffeine fix in the bin.

OK so my view is biased... It was a charity gig and the venue offered a free drink and burger so all ticket moneys went to the mayor's charity. The 5 local acts were brilliant too and the sound engineer also engineered for free. So how can I not give the night 5 stars?! It is comfy, serves good food and drink, had great staff, is dry on the beautiful water front, it's spacious but you don't get lost, lots but not deafening! Apparently it draws a trendy crowd but at 54 I'd not feel out of place! I'd go again!!!

Cult offers a nice chilled out vibe for a laid back lunch. The omelette was superb and the poutine was nice although not as good as ones I had there previously. The coffee and the WiFi signal are strong and very good :) . The place could have been cleaner but it was busy on a Sunday lunch so this might account for it. It’s a nice venue and good food with a great location.

There is still a lot to like about Cult Bar. For example, it has a near perfect balance between friendly cafe in the day time and student bar in the evening, the decor is charming and eclectic, and the views over the marina are great. The only thing which brings this review down even slightly is the recent change in the way they serve coffee. When everyone else seems to be moving toward large drinks, or at the very least a range of sizes, Cult Bar now has a policy of only offering small cups. Even this would be OK if the staff were trained on the new sizes, but several times now when ordering a black americano I have had what was pretty close to a double espresso with a dash of water. Please bring back larger cups - I'd even pay a bit more, and so would several other people I have informally canvassed.

The best place to eat and admire the waterfront. Ever changing menu and wildly-fluctuating levels of business - often rammed, but occasionally deserted - think it might be linked to the university terms, but it's definatley not a 'student bar'. We played on the table football, and often have a game of pool. They do the best Scotch Eggs outside of Scotland, but the very best thing to try (if you've never had one) is a poutine - look it up. Kid friendly - board games available. Range of pislners and pale ales from local brewers. Worth a trip to Ipswich for this amazing place.

Had some poor experiences with food - wrong orders and orders being forgotten when ordering even in small groups. Staff at the time were unhelpful and rude, which is a shame for what should be a nice place on the waterfront. As for the bar and evening entertainment - it's great. Cult Cafe was lovely, the food was brought out very quickly and then meal was lovely. I feel as if they could have been a bit better staffed, also the prices were a bit steep. I live in Kent and Ipswich is a lot cheaper than Kent for prices and even I cringed at the prices a bit. The interior of Cult though was lovely, but the chairs that I sat in where a bit over board with decoration slits in, although all in all it was lovely, amazing food with a good selection.
