Reviews of Pooky's Deli & Cafe

I took the wine flight which is £10pp and you get 3 glasses of wine of your choice, a great way to sample a variety of different flavours, and I loved the charcuterie board, bursting with choice and flavour, delicious to graze on over a gossip. The host was so knowledgeable and warm, she had all the answers to our questions and was able to make recommendations suited to our taste, everything was so fresh and the atmosphere is very cosy.

Popped in for a takeaway flat white, coffee was made perfectly - just the right temperature and with really tasty beans.
The staff are so friendly and welcoming!
Also nipped you the toilet, and although there’s only one it’s incredibly clean.
Would definitely come back here and dine in, a lovely little place! Nice to see a buzzing independent cafe early on a Thursday morning 😍

We came across this establishment by chance. We were welcomed with such warmth. All of the staff were very hospitable and lovely. We ordered some lunch, a slice of quiche and a cheese toastie. I was worried this may have been cross contaminated with some meat as we are vegetarians. The staff offered assurances and went to every effort to meet our needs. The atmosphere was relaxed and chilled. The food was delicious. We would definitely recommend this little hidden gem and will surely come back to try the desserts! Thankyou

Visited on Saturday morning for some breakfast and coffee. Service was a bit slow but friendly nonetheless.
We asked for the bacon on the sandwiches to be crispy but it came out and it wasn’t - it was fatty but not overly unpleasant. Had it not already been covered in sauce and had the staff not seemed too busy we would’ve mentioned and sent it back. Also the bread wasn’t toasted and we didn’t realise there were multiple choices of bread otherwise we wouldn’t have chosen sourdough.
Coffee was ok and the cinnamon bun was stale.
Glad we popped in as we are new to the area but will check out other places before heading back.

We had a fantastic meal in this lovely little deli in the heart of Horsforth. The staff were excellent, friendly, and made us feel at home. The decor is modern yet cosy and there's a feel of quality and individuality about the place. Pooky's food is sensational, we had the full breakfast and Banofee pancakes. The breakfast I had was perfectly portioned, well cooked and tasty sausages/bacon and the eggs - WOW! They delicious and looked like little snowballs with liquid gold inside! The coffee was not too bitter and reminded me of a luxury coffee I once had in Milan. Pooky's is now our regular (even though we live in the next village)! Best Cafe in Leeds.

Visited over lunchtime during the week. Arrived when there were about three other occupied tables and we were served quickly. I had the croque monsieur which was served with a spoonful of coleslaw on a small lettuce leaf. The bread was very well done and dry, bordering on burnt. There wasn’t a lot of cheese and it had one thin slice of ham. I understand costs are rising everywhere but it really wasn’t worth £7. I also had a latte, which wasn’t as rich as they have been in the past when I’ve visited.
There is a small step and manual push door to enter, and a step up to the deli area. The tables are very close together, people had to turn sideways to squeeze through tables, never mind being able to move a wheelchair around. The cafe quickly filled up whilst we were there and the family on the table next to us was incredibly close, less than one metre definitely.
Bear in mind that this place is “family friendly” so there were a lot of shouting kids and babies, as well as easily being able to hear other’s conversations as they were so close.
Our server brought our food, then went back to get cutlery. Communication didn’t seem to be very good between staff as to who had/ hadn’t being served and I witnessed waitresses going round asking each table if they needed serving. Not very professional. Maybe by giving customers cutlery/ napkins once they’ve ordered this could give a signal as to who needed service, and alleviate people having to sit waiting with their food when it arrives for someone to go get them some cutlery 🤦🏻♀️
