My second time here, once again very impressed with the food! I had the french toast with berries, strawberries and banana. Didn't take too long to arrive and it tasted delicious wasn't too sweet it was just perfect! The presentation of the food was great too. My friend was really happy with her choice she had an American pancake with strawberries and hazelnut chocolate. She ate it all up and said she would be back to have more! Thank you so much and look forward in coming soon in the near future 😀

KAI does brunch, and it does it well. It's not a large place and it can be busy, but the friendly staff will try their best to find room. And it's worth waiting for - cute decor and chilled atmosphere (lofi included!) makes it a great place for a low-key brunch. And the food is amazing. Maybe the best pancakes I've ever had. And the french toast was delicious too! Wouldn't hesistate to come back, and the prices while not cheap feel reasonable given the quality of the food you receive. If I had to find something to criticise it would be the bathrooms - two simple rooms that are identical in function, so why gender them? Just put "toilet" on both, and it'd make it simpler for everyone.

I discovered this all day breakfast spot after conducting a Google search for brunch. We got the florentine and Benedict eggs, but substituted the sourdough toast for pancakes. I wish the server had informed us that the pancakes she would be serving were sweet rather than savoury, as we had believed. The poached eggs were a little overcooked, I believe I will inform them if I return. The turmeric tea was delicious, and the overall food quality was acceptable.

This is a lovely breakfast place with vegetarian and some vegan options. Customer service was also good! The only issue is parking which you would need to park at the nearest paid car park (Highcross car park would be ideal).

Popular spot which fills up quick for good reason! The breakfast pancakes were delicious, three thick and super fluffy pancakes with really generous toppings! What an absolute gem. Food was plentiful and even managed to get a prosecco cocktail...it was my daughters 21st birthday!. Would 100% recommend a trip to KAI, don't leave it to late though as tables are very much in demand. Other customers must feel the same as we did then 😊

Every time I come back to Leicester I always come to Kai- the pancakes are INSANE and the portions are huge. Even though it sounds like a weird combo, I would recommend the cheesy bacon pancakes. Only downside is this place isn’t as cheap as it used to be but still decent prices.

Excellent brunch. I've had the Bacon and pancakes each of the 3 times I've visited and it has been great each time. They don't skimp on the bacon giving each bite a great ratio between pancake and bacon. They serve a locally roasted coffee which is very tasty.

Nice place let down a bit by the quality of it’s ingredients. There’s nothing wrong with a limited menu but it means you have to do everything well. The eggs weren’t great quality and the orange juice was budget concentrate. When charging £2 for a glass of juice at least make sure it’s decent quality. These issues are very easily remedied though.

Very friendly staff and very nice American style pancakes. My only low point was the pancakes came full of maple syrup. It may be better to let the costumer's put the syrup as much as they want. But is a lovely place to be. Highly recommended.

What a gorgeous place to visit! Came here after all the lovely reviews, it did not disappoint! Staff were great - very good at making us feel safe and following social distancing rules - touch free entrance and access to menu, alcohol gel available, staff wearing masks! About the food - amazing - but wish I had asked for my pancakes without icing sugar and wish that mapple syrup was served on the side! It was wayyyy to sweet - so sweet that made me think that I could become diabetic! Would change only that, keep up with the great work!

I highly enjoyed my pancakes, and would definitely return 👍 the pancakes had a nice, fluffy texture + the toppings were of a reasonable amount + the waiting time was appreciated (considering the number of people present) it was very efficient + the produce used tasted fresh. On a busy day I would like to say the seating is tightly packed, nevertheless the food was still cooked with patience. I also hope to see a larger variety of pancakes options. It's a nice cafe or couples, friends and families. It has a friendly and cozy vibe, thank you.

Great coffee and American sized servings of fluffy American pancakes! They don't take bookings so you might have to wait but they sat us really quickly and the service is quite quick. I had the pancakes with berries, strawberries and maple syrup (stack of 3...don't think I could have managed 5!) Which was great. I'll be having eggs next time as they also looked great!

This place must be popular as they were constantly turning people away. I ordered pancakes which were incredible. I expected a dribbling of sauce but they were drowned in it. Too much for me but only as a matter of personal taste. The quality was top and they were good value for money. We did have to wait a while for our food (and coffees). It was also a little cramped. My elbow clashes with the guy next to me and it was awkward having any kind of personal conversation! I'd definitely go back though. Maybe at a quieter time.

One of favourite places for Sunday Brunch :) The food is really nice and served very quick. Plus have a selection of drinks (both tea and coffee), as well as great portions of meals (will definitely keep you full). However, that would be great if they could provide gluten free bread/toast for dishes like Eggs Benedict. Although thanks for stuff for finding solution and providing delicious sweet potatoes as a gluten free option. The atmosphere is really cozy, however be aware that the place is always busy and booked, so arrange your plans well in advance!😉

Went here yesterday with friends and they’re fully packed as it is the weekend. I had the Red Leicester bacon pancake and Almond latte, was surprised how generous they are with the portion. I ordered 5 stacks of pancakes but should’ve chosen 3 cause it’s filling. The pancake was ok and bit dry but tasty. The service was good and we were seated upstairs as it’s full on the main ground. The interior design is very modern and cute but upstairs seating can get cramped because the 2 tables were quite close together. If you’re a tall person I’d recommend staying downstairs. Overall I’d recommend going here for brunch for food options and given that we came on a busy day, food came just in time and didn’t take long to arrive which is always a good thing.

Love this place. Service is very relaxed a casual. The coffee is tasty. When I come I always have the smashed avocado with poached eggs on sourdough. It never fails to taste amazing. It has fresh coriander and chilli mixed in. The added little gem of mixed seeds give some nutty texture. My kids always opt for the pancakes. Massive portions which are so tasty. Bacon and maple of Chocolate and strawberry are the winners.

Had some really good pancakes (as in the photographs) and really struggled to finish the 3 stack! Very tasty though and while not cheap you do get a lot for your money. Oat lattes on the menu so bonus points accrued for that. I would recommend having a look at this place next time you happen in St.Martins square.

Amazing place. Has got great vibes and the food is delicious and presented really well. I catch up with an old friend every few months and it has been a tradition to always meet in KAI because the staff are really friendly and it is such a nice clean environment. Only negative feedback is that they put too much syrup on the pancakes and it becomes soggy very quickly. I guess it can be because I am a slow eater, haha!

Quite a cool venue, efficient service, but a bit on the chilly side during the recent cold snap. It certainly wasn't cosy! Busy, and clearly popular with the young crowd. I've eaten here twice now, the menu is great, with clearly a lot of thought put into the dishes. However, they just don't deliver on flavour, being either bland (vegan curry) or completely unseasoned (shakshuka) before leaving the kitchen. However, a Buddha bowl was hugely improved by a side order of sriracha tofu. Just a few tweaks to the food before leaving the kitchen would make a huge difference here.

Good value for money on portion size, good service and warm atmosphere, would get 5 stars if it had additional seating as downstairs gets a bit claustrophobic when busy. Would recommend the American pancakes, fluffy not too sweet and good texture and weight, each pancake is roughly 6 inches in diameter, so expect to be filled quickly, I ordered a 5 stack with bacon, was £8 but very delicious would probably go for the 3 stack next time. Improvements: add more variety of veggie options to your menu, invest in some central heating because its always freezing in your cafe, improve upstairs because its not that welcoming and its cold, (nobody wants to ait up there) bring the menus back as using rhe QR code is annoying, improve your customer service I waited about 10 minutes to catch the attention of staff to order food AND bring back almond milk and the cushions ❤

We went here today for brunch, food was lovely, maybe a little to big on the portion size, as I did notice lots of waste, you can however box up and take away any left overs. But sadly the service massively let the experience down. There were alot of staff all of which were very friendly but incredibly slow, it wasn't particular busy and there were a couple of free tables. We waited 20 minutes for drinks and an hour for our food, and when the food did arrive, only 3 of the 4 meals arrived and a further wait of 5 minutes for the remaining meal, was a nice place but not somewhere that I would rush back to .

Nice Cafe. We were lucky to get a table quickly on Saturday morning/early afternoon. They warned us that it will take 40-50 minutes for the food, but were happy to serve a toast and scrambled egg for our 2 year old daughter quickly. I had pancakes with red Leicester and bacon and wife ordered eggs Benedict. Both were really good and portions were fantastic.. I don't think we'll be thinking about a meal till late evening now.. Highly recommended. :-)

Great food, great staff. I like the fact the menu is easy to read, it's well designed and doesn't overwhelm you with hundreds of options. I've had the pankackes and French bread, both to die for. Not as rich as they look, which was perfect. As for the pancakes, you'll probably only need the 3 stack. Wife's had the vegetable curry, which I stole a bite from and was blown away. Some good portion sizes for meals here! You really get what you pay for here :)

I’ve been here a few times and I’ve never been disappointed! Their pancakes are the best ever! Yes it’s annoying they don’t take bookings but I always make sure I go when we all have time, but think I’ve got lucky each time as we’ve always been given a table straight away. The staff are friendly and a great variety on the menu. Definitely recommend a visit if you’ve not been!

Food is really delicious! Decor is fantastic with the colour scheme running from downstairs to upstairs. Food takes a while to come out, but tasty nevertheless, bringing it out when it's ready. Kai has such a nice vibe! There's people chatting, working on their laptops and, of course, eating. Even the customers are nice! The portions are huge. I had the strawberry and chocolate pancakes, and they should rename it to decadance on a plate (really, that was good enough for 3 people!). And it was the smallest version of the dish.

It took at least 15 minutes for our order to be taken, then another 15 minutes for our drinks to arrive. Tables were not being served in order, and there were several people complaining/leaving. The bill didn't arrive after asking for it. I then had to run the staff through what we had ordered as they couldn't find the table details. Won't be returning in a hurry.

A very stylish independent cafe in the heart of St Martins. This is well worth a visit. The food is packed with many subtle flavors - I had a falafel sandwich which came with a choice of one of three salads. I chose the brown rice and tofu. Both were absolutely gorgeous. The café is also licenced so would be a relaxed evening destination. The vibe in the cafe managed to be both lively and relaxed. Not too full that you had to wait but busy enough for there to be a buzz. Can definitely recommend Kai to you.
