Reviews of The Cook in The Nook
B.
Genuinely one of the best breakfast spots in Leicestershire. The food is homemade or locally sourced and always delicious! Terry one of the owners and their team are always delightful. Very dog friendly in there too. The milkshakes and fresh bakes (especially cinnamon buns) are also incredible. Can't say a bad word about this place, love it here!
B. G.
Very friendly place. The morning breakfast was great! The staff are friendly and helpful. ( We met another person who usually goes here and she loved the place because they let her dog in and they have dog sausage)
D. B.
Now we are talking! Fantastic breakfast at Cook in the Nook. The Eggs Benny’22 was so tasty with a lovely combination of flavours from the chorizo and hollandaise. Friendly cheerful service and a pretty setting. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for good food and a beautiful setting.
R. S.
Loved this Cafe in Corby. Very busy bit owner there to organise tables. Tasty toasted sandwiches and good coffee.
J. B.
I've been here a couple of times and really enjoyed it each time. The only thing that left a bit of a sour taste was overhearing a senior member of staff (guy with a beard) being quite unpleasant to a young waitress who was clearly very nervous (but doing a great job as far as I was concerned).
A. C.
Been twice now, food is fresh and delicious, full of flavour. The tomato and coriander soup with sour dough bread was a particularly tasty combination and the Berry iced tea was refreshing and a treat for eyes and taste buds.....
S. T.
Wonderful place. Meal was excellent and all drinks were fantastic, family loved everything. Staff were very friendly.
S. L.
Super friendly, excellent service with some fantastic menu choices and seasonal dishes. Quality coffee and the kids absolutely love the milkshakes!
J. K.
I had high expectations and was not disappointed... Oh my days the food, drink and whole experience was just... Hmmm... amazing, tasty, first class and more.
M. A.
So welcoming and kind. The food is so good that I went two days in a row. Will keep visiting now.
C. B.
A really lovely place ! And if it looks full there is more room up stairs .Had a fabulous vegan breakfast

Best breakfast yet 9.9 /10
Highly recommend the Cook in the Nook all local produce and the taste is impressive. 2 Bacon, 1 sausage, black pudding from Russell Smith butchers (cosby ) , free range eggs (kimcote) cooked as you , Mushrooms, Beans, chakalaka (spicy tomatoes) homemade hash brown, toasted sourdough bread (they even use local flour from Claybrook) .
There is a lovely feeling to the place and the
Service is excellent.
It is the higher price range at £9 but definitely a case of you get what you pay for.
Drinks were extra.
P. M.
Very tasty food with crazy fast service! We had the full English and pancakes with syrup, both delicious!
R. V. H.
Lovely place. But wish they did toasted tea cakes. Nice place to stop on cycle ride.
M. K.
Lovely atmosphere and experience, that's before you even eat!
K. L.
Beautiful, cool and vibey cafe.
Homemade and fresh ingredients
Lovely friendly atmosphere

Cosy little cafe in Cosby. Great coffee and atmosphere. Food was tasty and not expensive.
S. B.
We felt gutted that we had not known of this place before! Lovely welcome, cosy, beautiful view and the food is top notch! The cakes are inventive and fresh! Far more vegan options then most cafes! <3
M. V.
A lovely breakfast for me and my daughter this morning. She had pancakes with maple syrup, which she said were the best she's ever had and I had the smashed avocado with smoked salmon on hash browns. Delicious! We also had the banana loaf to share. Really friendly staff, food came out very swifly.
Prices are premium, but it is worth paying when they clearly use quality ingredients!
A must visit!
J. W.
I only had a cup of peppermint tea which was a really nice brand of loose tea in a pot with built-in strainer, my friend had egg on a bap and coffee all very nice the staff were welcoming and friendly, even the brown sauce was nicer than average
T. M.
Stopped here for lunch toray with 3 kids under 8 - it's great! The owners are away at the moment so reduced menu but everyone has left full and happy and with big smiles. They went above and beyond 😊😊😊

5*! Love this little place. We went in for breakfast, both chose the Full Cosby. It was scrumptious, the home made hash brown, chickpea hash and butcher meat was fantastic. Not only was the food top notch but the staff were all very welcoming and courteous. The little things make all the difference to me, like the linen napkins, home made cakes and buns. Definitely a beautiful eatery in a beautiful village.
P. A.
Very nice Soup with toasted Sourdough bread.
H. H.
Food is so fresh and well cooked.
I also had a coffee frappe which was divine!
The lovely owner saw I had my baby boy in a front carrier so he cut my breakfast bun up for me so I could eat it without spilling! So thoughtful!
Deffo recommend!
S. W.
The staff were really nice and attentive.
We were a party of four and all of us had a different breakfast, included full breakfast, beans on toast and two Bacon, sausage and egg cobs three coffee, one tea, not going to say how much here but cost more than a nice evening meal in a restaurant.
Food was average and I'm afraid the home made beans were not a success.
This cafe is a lovely little place and I think the pricing keeps out those who just want a workman's tea and breakfast which is fair enough, to pricy for me though.
J. F.
Great litte place always worth a visit.
k. t.
Lovely staff, fantastic food highly recommend
C. A.
Bennys 22 breakfast - the best there is, plus the best flat white for miles!
Brilliant super friendly staff too!
A. B.
Lovely local cafe/restaurant. Friendly staff and a lovely selection of homemade food and sandwiches. Great little jewel in the town and very popular with the locals.
J.
This was such a great find! It was our first visit this morning for breakfast, the staff are so friendly, the food and coffee is amazing, and everyone was so accommodating for us-two adults, two babies, high chairs were provided. Thank you! We’ll be back ☺️
T. M.
Lovely place with a warm welcome... Recommend the Budda bowl and always any of the warming soups. Can get busy but that is because it's worthy. Check it out!
J. A.
Nice little cafe, very popular. Lovely home made cakes and good coffee.
P. J.
A nice cafe with great food that also caters for Vegans and those that prefer gluten free options. A chilled relaxed ambiance and dog friendly too.
P. R.
My Daughter treated me to Breakfast, all home made with locally sourced ingredients, I was well impressed 👌
S. M.
Fabulous breakfast served hot and quickly. Staff very polite and fresh flowers makes it an above average place to eat. We will definitely make it a regular place to dine out.
R. P.
Excellent lunch over looking the brook. Helpful and friendly staff. Good choice of menu.
O. E.
Absolutely fantastic breakfast, service was brilliant, couldn’t recommend highly enough!
D. B.
We visited today for the first time with our grandchildren and had a lovely experience. The first thing that hits you is the wonderful aroma of freshly baked cakes and pastries and coffee! The set out of the place is really homely and very welcoming and the staff friendly and helpful. We decided to try the flapjack which didn’t disappoint and was deliciously moist and the coffee is the best for miles around. The chef helped the children to choose the fillings for their soft rolls which they thoroughly enjoyed. The reviews on social media are spot on and the pricing competitive we will definitely be returning very soon - 😀👍🏻
r. g.
Very friendly staff! Great food definitely popping in again when I'm passing by. Love it!
a. b.
I LOVE this place! Fresh and clean! I opted for the veggie breakfast which was delicious!
The loose tea was great and such a re freshing change.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
On my way out I couldn’t resist taking a few flapjacks home which I enjoyed later!
I will defiantly be making a return visit!
A fantastic addition to my beloved Cosby!
L. B.
The Nook was very popular and busy for a mid-week day. IThru had a large selection if different teas, I cN recommend the fruit berry tea. I didn't sample their food but it all looked delicious, I will return to eat there in the future, this was my first visit to Cosby village and I had a lovely day at The Yarn Bomb event.
S. C.
Fantastic breakfast. I have only been to the Cook in the Nook for Sunday breakfast /brunch but I keep going back. All dietary needs are catered for really good vegan and vegetarian options, properly planned and executed and not just an after thought as they are in many places. Great ingredients, carefully prepared, excellent service, easy on street parking what more could you want.
D. M.
I had a lovely lunch with my Auntie of homemade Tomato and red pepper soup, served with some very tasty granary bread. To finish we had the most fantastic homemade scones with raspberry jam and clotted cream.
We would definitely recommend this lovely place, plus the couple that own this, are very helpful and friendly.
H. B.
Probably one of the nicest breakfasts I've ever had. Meat from the butchers next door, lots of homemade elements, friendly staff/owners. Can't fault it.
m. a.
Very polite staff with good service. The food took a little while to arrive but it was worth the wait. It was very nice and piping hot.
Will return
H. W.
Delicious chicken flat bread and a home made soup. Good service and food even on a busy Friday. Always friendly staff
V. W.
Lovely coffee, caught them as they were closing but were happy to serve us Can't wait to go back to try the menu (GF)
S. T.
I have been twice and was shocked that my friend paid £5.50 for an egg mayo cob with raw cabbage and onion on the side...no mayo, it looked revolting. She then paid the same price for her tea that I paid for my coffee. They really need to look at their pricing otherwise they wont last 6 months!! On the plus side I love the refurbishment
M. K.
Amazing as always!beautifully fresh food, great vegan choices and fantastic service!! It's wonderful to have the cook in the nook in the village and so happy to see that you've reopened
Can't fault this gem of a place
G. M.

M. B.
Went last week for a coffee which was good and liked breakfast menu so went back.had one vegan and one vege breakfast..both 8.50 so not cheap but different as vegan had slightly spicy chickpea hash and avocado came with a fancy named tomato sauce which had spice into.Attractivly plated. However plates stone cold a shame as all food tasty.
Service attentive and friendly.Atmosphere relaxed and unhurried.Began to get busy at 09.45.
L. M.
Freshly baked cinnamon rolls are to die for 😋
L. F.
Absolutely amazing breakfast and great coffee !
C. H.
Simply Amazing! Great Decor, Exceptionally friendly service and staff, fantastic Barista Coffee, the flapjack and chocolate brownies are Devine - The Freshly baked sourdough loaf is definitely worth taking home (lovely toasted with lashings of lurpak) and as for the Poached Eggs with Fresh Smoked Salmon and Pea Shoots on English breakfast Muffins (Simply Devine) I Highly Recommended The Cook in the Nook, Cosby and would ignore any negative reviews - It really is a cracking place and well worth trying 😉👍🏻
S. B.
