Reviews of Bunty's Tea Room
E. B.
Afternoon tea for me and my daughter. My daughter has coeliac disease and hardly eats out because of the danger of cross contamination which would make her ill .
What a fantastic place. Lovely lady and daughter who run it. No contamination here!!!!
The lady owner is so passionate about giving everyone the best experience and the best food freshly baked. My daughter was able to have her own 'stand' which was gluten free , prepared completely separate to mine. Thank you so much, it was amazing.
K. M.
Near the top of steep hill, a cute place with wartime memorabilia and music. Thought we might have to wait but only the two of us meant that we were seated upstairs straight away. Afternoon tea was a must... got to choose what sandwiches you wanted and a slice of cake from a selection (coffee and walnut). And we had a nice pot of tea in proper cups and saucers, it was fabulous and we were stuffed... excellent value for money and the team were lovely.

Bunty’s is a really cute and quaint 1940s themed café on Steep Hill. The food is delicious and I really recommend the afternoon teas or homemade cakes. The vegan options are great too, especially the vegan chocolate cake which was gorgeous. A must-visit if you’re visiting Uphill Lincoln!
B.
Have quick pot of tea before continue walking uphill to visiting Lincoln Catherdal.
Those tearoom is 1940s with vintage teapot amd tea.
The lady is very kind and helpful plus this cafe seem popular.

What a marvellous find! This tea room is amazing. Had delicious homemade soup in cosy surroundings in this vintage tea room. Excellent service from friendly staff and reasonable prices. Thoroughly recommend.
D. L.
Excellent. With a 40’s vibe, proper tea pots, tea leaves and a strainer, a great place. The cakes were delicious. The staff are superb. Loved it

Well where do you start ? Well that depends if your at the top of step hill or the bottom. But what I can assure you is, that you will feel welcome and at home. Bunty's Tea Room is worth the walk up or down. Amazing cakes and teas, the staff are just as you would expect warm from the inside out. I am sure when you have visited you will return time after time. Please say hello to the girls and say you read the review from the runaway couple. Take care and enjoy the best Lincoln has to offer xxx
M. L.
Having passed this place numerous times I finally got to try it for myself and was not disappointed! We had a couple of sandwiches, a pot of tea and some cake to finish and all was absolutely lovely, the people were friendly too. The cake especially was the best Victoria Sponge I've ever had. This place does not do reservations so we did have to queue for a wee while but that didn't bother us. I wish I had taken some cake home with me!
L. P. F.
A lovely lady who is friendly and welcoming. Superb cakes. Great décor. And excellent service. Recommend a stop off either going up or down the hill. Thanks Bunty

Well what can I say .... we arrived as a party of 12 with one of the family with a wheel chair.... we honestly could not fault the hospitality. Nothing was too much trouble....we just wanted to have a spot of lunch but my goodness they went above and beyond.... the food is all homemade and fresh, we have a gluten free daughter and to our surprise she could also enjoy a scone, ....this place is a hidden gem ....if ever you visit Lincoln you must visit this place you will not be disappointed...I've also got to add the decor in its self takes you back to the 1940's just amazing.... I wish i lived nearer would definitely be in here weekly ❤❤

The only way to describe this lovely tea shop is delightful.
I was so impressed with the whole experience, staff( proprietor & daughter) were happy, friendly and most accommodating.
Real China tea cups added an extra touch.
Highly recommend a visit to this 40s themed tea room 100%

Lovely food, but what a lot of rabbit.
On our return to Lincoln today we made sure to visit Bunty's tea room knowing the food would be top notch, which it was, with gluten free availability being a priority for my partner. The afternoon tea for £15 each was filling and delicious with a good choice of sandwich fillings (choose the one you want, not a selection) and tea served in lovely quirky teapots. Our only gripe was the constant racket of the manager's loud and generally one way conversation with two other customers whom she appeared to know well enough to never need to pause for breath before launching into a different topic.
It may seem petty, but if this constant noise had been between two customers then a request to turn it down would definitely have been justified; not so easy when it is the person in charge and we ended up just sitting slightly awkwardly, unable to avoid eavesdropping on all her trials and tribulations.
We enjoyed the quality and quantity of food, but were glad to leave for a bit of peace.

Just popped in to Bunty’s for tea and cake after being tempted in by the amazing Jubilee widow display and home made cakes in the window.
Excellent service, homely surroundings and beautifully presented, tea was in a pot and china cups,
Tried the Pims cake and it was fantastic, a taste sensation! Well worth a wander up Steep Hill. 😃🎂👍
A. M.
Amazing afternoon tea and cake selection is one of a kind. Each day there are new flavours making indulge a new rich texture. Friendly team and calm, cozy environment.
S. P.
Lovely atmosphere, excellent food, especially gluten free options. Very friendly lady owner. Enjoyed a lovely chat with her on our visit today.
d. J.
Lovely tea room homemade cake and great menu choices
P. P.
Incredible Black Forest Gateaux, although the owner pointed out it was a cake and not a gateaux, but it was certainly worthy of being called a gateaux. Lovely light and fluffy Scone all washed down with a great cup of tea in very dainty cups. The owner is very chatty and loves her teapots, of which there are many. Can't wait until the rhubarb and custard cake reappears.
C. P.
Visited Bunty on Monday 5th September what a lovely place to go we had sandwiches which were excellent the bread was so fresh and the ham was delicious, the lady that runs it with her daughter was very friendly and nothing was to much trouble well worth a visit
K. S.
Neat and quaint tea room. All in the swing of the 1940's weekend when we went. Efficient service and pleasant staff. Served gluten free cakes which was a main reason for trying it.
M. B.
Fantastic place to visit. The tea room is superbly decorated and atmospheric music in keeping with the theme. We ordered hot drinks and cake. The tea was served in old fashioned individually styled tea pots, cups and saucers. Their cakes are divine, both the Red Velvet and vegan Chocolate Cake were perfect. I would highly recommend it.
B. T.
What an awesome experience! Lovely food great tea and the best scones I've ever had! Totally recommend 👌
S. G.
A popular spot, one often needs to wait a few minutes before a table is available. Quirky surroundings and a definite 1950s vibe. Good choices of food and helpful staff.
L. J.
Visited this tea shop for the first time this week. We're both gluten free and had an amazing experience. Fabulous scone with cream and jam. Will definitely go back for afternoon tea. Made to feel very welcome and lovely chat with the owner who is obviously passionate about her tea room.
J. M.
Just the cutest tea shop I've ever seen! Rhianna made it a special stop. Had the Bunty's blend tea and plum bread! Yum!
C. M.
Lovely little place. We shared the afternoon tea for one, as we weren't very hungry and the portions were big.
F. L.
Visited today for the first time, fabulous ladies serving fabulous cakes and drinks.
We had tea and a dandelion and burdock, and a slice of blueberry and vanilla cake. Lovely tea served the old fashioned way, and a Fentiman’s pop. And the cake was to die for! So moist and flavoursome.
Love the decor of the shop, very quaint and old time British, with lots of little details. A little place but we still got a table.
We were unlucky to experience an a***hole of a customer come in demanding a whole cake for a family members birthday the next day. The owner of the shop explained that because they are a small business, they can’t sell a whole cake straight to 1 customer as there wouldn’t be any left by end of service. He was so rude and kept arguing, not understanding that not everyone cares about the money you spend, but the customer experience, but the staff dealt with it gracefully and kindly, in the end we got involved as he was ruining some of the older customers’ experience.
I understand why he’d want a whole cake though as they are divine!!!
We will definitely be back, only wish my nana was still here to experience this place too.
P. C.
Love this tea room. Really friendly staff. Great tea and snacks. Cakes etc looked lovely
J. M.
Gorgeous little tea room. The plum loaf with cheese and chutney was very yummy. Incredible scones also. Cute retro feel.
A. L.
Thank you for an enjoyable afternoon tea. I thourghly enjoyed my gluten free coronation chicken sandwich, fruit scone and Bakewell cake. Thank you for making me feel like a normal human being again such great service thank you xx
m. s.
Love the setup of the period design, fab!!
Had the Lincolnshire sausage and smoked bacon sandwich, with a pot of tea.
Cake's looked delish!!x
H. B.
Gorgeous place. We had cake and coffee and it was delicious! The staff were so lovely, and the theme made for really a happy atmosphere! Highly recommended!
S. K.
Best tea room in Lincoln by far! Fab staff, delicious food and cakes. Lovely atmosphere, great place to catch up with a cuppa or have a full on afternoon tea.
C. M.
The perfect gluten free afternoon tea!!!
S. G.
A warm welcome awaits you here in Lincoln’s Cathedral Quarter at Bunty’s Tea Room ! Take a real step back in time to the 1940’s in this themed tea room , The detail lends to the authentic atmosphere and I recommend their house blend tea which is very very nice and very refreshing even on a hot day ! If you are visiting Lincoln please take a rest and a cuppa here , I guarantee your day will be made brighter by a visit here .
F.
Staff very friendly, very generous serving of tea, even offered to top it up and nice scones, not too dry.
Small space owing to the age of the building but it all adds to the character, good location in the middle of the hill.
A. S.
Great cake, fabulous atmosphere, like going back in time for afternoon tea
B. T.
Quaint cafe, good food and drink. packed with war time memorabilia served up by friendly staff.
L. S.
Lovely afternoon tea! Friendly staff and lovely vintage decor. Will be back again
L. H.
Buntys is my absolute favourite shop to come visit in Lincoln, the owner and staff are the friendliest team you’ll meet, and their vintage style and food is unlike anything else on Steep Hill.
Highly recommend
L. W.
Amazing tea. Amazing cake!
We popped into Buntys this afternoon- very busy and there was a small wait for a table, but the mouth-watering cakes in the windows begged us to stay and wait.
We were certainly not disappointed! We each had the most amazing slice of triple lemon cake - it was to die for! The tea was served in quirky tea pots exactly to our liking. Lovely smiley and friendly staff, fab experience! Thank you
J. D.
Amazing cakes. The staff are very friendly and they have 1940’s music 🎶 playing in the background to add to your enjoyment. I would definitely recommended.
L.
A truly wonderful little tea room. The ladies who run it are truly lovely, and the theme is wonderful. They had a selection of gluten free cakes and bread for something savoury, alongside vegan options too. The tea was served in one of their wide variety of colourful and fun teapots, which added to the experience. It’s great to sit in and watch the day go by, the staff are attentive but not intrusive.
C. R.
Found this vintage tea room after having a nice walk around the steep hill area. I only ordered a take away coffee as I didn’t have time to sit but inside their cafe is looking very inviting with a nice vintage quirky interior and they’ve got cake sections which even more inviting. Wish I had more time then.
l. n.
Amazing quirky tea room. Staff super friendly and nothing is too much trouble.
The food is amazing and good portion sizes. Roll on February when we can try the cake this time
K. H.
Beautiful quaint setting in the historical part of Lincoln, on Steep Hill. Simple food but well presented and very tasty. A fantastic selection of gluten free alternatives and excellent customer service.
s. t.
Lovely quaint tea room with a decent array of cakes and sandwiches as expected of a tea room but nothing special. It’s a very small space so expect to get close to your neighbours.
The servers all dressed up, mismatched crockery, charming decor and little bits and bobs to add character makes visiting this tea shop worthwhile.
Also it’s halfway up steep hill so a good excuse to stop and rest awhile
H. 1.
Would highly recommend and definitely return. Food was amazing and staff were really attentive and friendly.
J. H. (. H.
A lovely little cafe with 1940's / WW2 nostalgia. Really friendly staff who dress the part for the era. The tea is served in very fancy little pots. We had sandwiches ( they had run out of baguettes- no problem). Mine was roast beef with horseradish & salad. The wife had a Lincoln sausage sandwich. They came with a small bowl of very tasty coleslaw & crisps.
Service with a smile. On our top 10 of cafes.
K. S.
Lovely staff, great food, amazing atmosphere and period decor. A must visit if in Lincoln! Perfect for afternoon tea or a cosy place to stop off on Steep Hill.
P. P.
I have always been put off the idea of afternoon tea because I have to follow a gluten free diet and I don't like tea! Neither of these factors were a problem at Bunty's. I went for a visit with my mum and we both chose the full afternoon tea experience and we're very pleased. I had sandwiches, scone and cake (all gluten free) and it was no trouble to swap my tea for a lovely latte instead. Couldn't manage it all so took the cake home with me and took some home for partner who also thoroughly enjoyed it. There's a lot of tea rooms in and around Lincoln but this is definitely a good one and we'll worth a visit.
k.
A lovely experience with first class tea and a slice of homemade cake.
s. g.
It’s was an amazing experience Lovley tea room with very friendly staff carrot cake was delicious Mouth Melting
e. C.
Back for 3rd visit. Very delicious afternoon tea and loved the decor, historical items, and friendly staff :)
L. A.
Had a lovely lunch here today. Cakes are amazing! Staff are very friendly, fabulous place
K. H.
Very friendly, great service lovely tea rooms
M. G.
Had a great afternoon tea here with my partner - the selection of sandwiches and cakes were wonderful, and the decor is great!
K. P.
Walking down Steep Hill I was surprised to find Bunty's Tea Room open, though about to close, as usually closed when I walk by.
I asked of their hours, had they changed. No, four in the week, five on a Saturday.
I noticed everyone leaving highly complimentary on what they have had, and that the helpful lady the owner, knowledgeable on what she is serving, tea, coffee, the cakes she gas created herself.
Contrast with the appalling service Lincoln’ Cathedral Cafe. But that is the difference between a local family owned business where they care about their reputation and an outsourced operation which does not.
T. K.
Lovely food excellent service was given free drink because order took longer than they expected but we didn't see a problem to be honest lovely place definitely call again x
B. c.
Was looking forwards to an afternoon tea that would increase my chances of getting diabetes. Sadly the afternoon tea on offer was not quite what I expected. One sandwich, one cake and one scone does not constitute an afternoon tea. Service and food were lovely but sadly I didn't get my afternoon tea fix.
E. S. D.
We had my Mother's 60th afternoon tea party here. The ladies were excellent, really helpful and friendly and made everything so easy. The food was yummy and the tea shop is gorgeous.
T. G.
Basic menu but the service and food were excellent. The environment is very interesting.
A. W.
Great cafe! Great service, great atmosphere, great food.
More vegan options would be good, but the food is delicious and the vegan chocolate cake is gorgeous.
S. W.
Lovely place to come for a spot of lunch. The staff are friendly and service is always excellent. Lovely sandwiches and the option to choose your own fillings if required. The tea is always really nice. Definitely try a cake, there is so much choice and are absolutely divine.
M. G.
Very cosy and nostalgic tea shop playing 1940s music quietly in the background. Food and service very good. Would recommend.
S. S.
Great tea room very friendly and had a good time talking to the owner and nice food
S. S.
Had a great hot chocolate plum bread and cake here today. Lovely lady and so glad they were open as alot of other shops were closed.a credit to them.
W. P.
Absolutely lovely decor inside, the entire place was so cute. my family and i really enoyed the teas, cake, and scones. The pots tea gets served in are also the cutest. 5/5
A. C.
Totally quirky, quaint and fabulous. The chocolate cake was one of the best I have ever tasted
S. A.
Cosy tea shop with beautiful variety of bone china teacups, saucers and teapots.
Even though the food order took a long time coming, we really enjoyed the tuna and cucumber sandwiches, homemade coleslaw and crisps, then fresh scone with jam and clotted cream, washed down with a pot of Earl grey tea! Very friendly, helpful staff!
M. S.
Lovely afternoon tea.
Went there again, this year on a trip, just as good!
J. P.
The food here is lovely. The sandwiches and the cake were great.
T. W.
Lovely atmosphere here. Fabulous gluten free afternoon tea. We had to take some of our cake home as there was so much and it was all delicious. Have been before and will go again. Would recommend. X
C.
A lovely tearooms with adorable cup and teapot. Scone cake is the best thing and should try. I found the other cakes is too sweet in here. Tea is good but i recommend you guys too choose some kind without infusion.
G. G.
Great staff, nice location with quirky decor.
Good selection of gluten free cakes too - the almond bakewell cake was very good, hard to tell it was g/f it was so moist!
Friendly staff and quirky tea pots and China cups.
Well worth a visit up the Steep Hill! 😉
R. M.
The atmosphere was wonderful. I liked the black and white photos that were on the tables, the 40s music was beautiful and calming. All the staff were very Kind, each and everyone had a smile on their face! The cake and tea we had was so delicious and rich I was upset I couldn't finish my slice! I will definitely be coming back!
B. H.
First thing to mention, is that this is a small cafe, however, it is in a great setting in the middle of Steep Hill. The decor inside is 50s style, with music and a selection of teapots to match. All cakes are homemade, and although we didn't try any, they looked and smelled delicious! If you're a fan of quirky and unique, then this is the place.
P. P.
Best tea room in the whole of Lincoln. So glad they have opened back up after lockdown. Staff are super friendly. The food is amazing as always.
C. B.
Hidden gem towards the top of steep hill. had seen its high position on TripAdvisor for months, and finally we managed to visit. We went away stuffed and wanting more, food is fresh, tasty and the cream scones delicious. Waitresses dress in 40's style attire, plates, teapots and cup and saucers are all different adding to the feel of being back in time. Can't wait to go back for more food.
F. H.
What a wonderful experience, not only is the decor of the tea rooms filled with the charm of war time Britain but the 2 lady's who serve there too.. My gentleman had a wonderful time with some playful banter which was played along with. I'm afraid he met his match with the lovely lady Glasgow but it was all respectful and playful adding to the wonderful coffee and very yummy Jaffa cake... I'm sorry but we shall be back for a skinny latte with froth and a cappuccino.. You made our afternoon perfect.. Thank you..
L.
Without a doubt the loveliest tearoom in Lincoln. Super friendly staff, excellent food and the atmosphere is so cosy, you want to spend the whole day in there. And to top it off, they always got a wide variety of homemade cakes, one tastier than the other. Too full after your meal? Get a cake-away, it's definitely worth it.
Can't recommend it enough!
n.
Went here before Christmas and it was really cute, the ladies who were serving were both lovely. The cafe is clean and has a nice atmosphere. The Bailey's hot chocolates and soup were lovely too.
T. C.
What a great place to find ..The staff very friendly and it was also very busy and I could see why.We ordered scones and cream they were hot and very fresh. My partners tea came in a beautiful teapot as well as he had been asked what sort tea he would like. The cakes were home made and the slices were very large though from what I could see all the food portions were huge. If we lived local this would be regular place to go
P. G.
Great little tea room tucked in the side of Steep Hill perfect for refreshment after the climb up or sustenance for the walk down.
Very friendly welcome and service throughout. Huge range of teas available but we stuck with English Breakfast and it was good and strong. Had a lincolnshire sausage and bacon sandwich and a beef and horseradish baguette both freshly made and delicious. We didnt have cakes but they looked amazing and the cream tea and scones looked brilliant too.
E. C.
BEST TEAROOM EVER! So quaint and charming aaaand on the most beautiful street in Lincoln. The staff are the most attentive I've met and the cakes are simply delicious! The decor is 1940's themed with crockery to match. It is a very busy place with little room so be prepared to queue, it's worth it! I'd recommend the plum bread with cheese and onion relish (they also sell them by the loaf) if you have a savoury tooth!
M.
Honestly cannot speak highly enough of this place! What an amazing beautiful little cafe, and the staff are everything you could ask for. Small family run business, caring for the customer comes first, seriously worth a wait in the line at busy times. It's busy for good reasons! Visited multiple times with multiple friends and family, everyone has loved it, all the food ordered has always been amazing. I recommend trying the lincolnshire plum bread. Fantastic fantastic place.
L. G.
Lovely food, Friendly staff and it seems very popular
M. F.
What a gem of a tea room, beautifully prepared tasty sandwiches and cakes to please everyone. Great selection of teas that come in a great selection of teapots. lovely atmosphere and even more lovely staff.
P. S.
Fabulous afternoon tea had at this great 40's inspired tea rooms recently. We will definitely be making this a port of call when we are next in the vicinity. Great value even without the Mr Sunak incentive.
S. A.
Nostalgic! Love the vibe and attention to detail and thats as you walk in without tasting the food.
Defo should be on the 'to visit' list if you are on steep hill
D. F.
Lovely tearoom with a 1940s theme. Very helpful and friendly service. Had a standard a gluten free Afternoon Tea. Good choice of sandwiches and cakes. Gf excellent. So much food...
B. B.
Great atmosphere, food and service. Couldn't ask for more
P. A.
Excellent place for tea and cake or a light lunch.
We had the jacket potatoes and all enjoyed their choice.
Service is great and the retro-ambience interesting.
Well worth giving it a try (but not in a wheelchair - it's in the middle of Steep Hill!)
A. J.
Fabulous! Great service and wonderful food. We had scones with clotted cream and coffees. Such a lovely atmosphere and friendly staff! X
B. N.

Every time we go to Lincoln, all ways go to Buntys staff are excellent the food is well presented the atmosphere is the 40s and the staff dress in that time. very well priced next time we are going to have the afternoon tea.
P. E.
Lovely ambiance. Great Lincolnshire sausage and tuna sandwiches. Fabulous cakes. Very engaging owner and staff. A proper English cafe experience. Try it. You won't be disappointed.
E. B.
We've just enjoyed a really lovely afternoon tea for two. Everything was delicious and the staff were fantastic. Child friendly as well which was great as we had our 9 month with us. Highly recommended.
C. L.
An incredible, quaint and quirky place to stop off for lunch after shopping!
When we came in today, it was the first time I'd eaten out in six months after a battle with anxiety. The girls handled my anaphylactic food allergies really well and the atmosphere was amazing.
I love the vintage retro decor; it's really warm and welcoming, (the perfect place to go for the first time back out in the "real world"!)
The only thing I'd say is the portions are HUGE! We had jacket potatoes and they were cooked to perfection. The coleslaw was deelish too! (Never had it before !)
Overall a lovely place, we'll definitely be coming back again!
I. G.
Perfect afternoon tea. Such a lovely warm welcome from all staff and a fantastic passionate host... Carrot cake is to die for.. Very elegant decor, sends you back in time... 10/10 👍🏻

Beautiful Little Tea Room with Lovely Friendy and Helpfull Staff Me and My Wife Only wanted Tea/Coffee with a Light Snack and Were Advised to have The Lincolnshire Plum Bread which was Delicious We Later Purchased 2 Of the above from the shop. Now sitting at Home eating a Toasted Slice Would Highly Recommend Buntys and The Plum Bread
J. J.
Arguably the best Tea Room in Lincoln. I've enquired about Vegan options in recent visits - soy latte's, vegan sandwiches and cake are really tasty. Good knowledge by staff with regards to products used and ingredients.
C. k.
Set up to hark back to the days of traditional 1940s/50s Britain, with the decor and music. Lovely little place, lovely food and lovely tea. Perfect stop off on to your trek up Steep Hill, in case you need an excuse to stop. I had the sausage sandwich, alongside a scone, and the Lincolnshire sausages were crammed in.
J. D. (.
Had a lovely visit a while ago, lovely and friendly staff, good veggie options available. Beautiful decor, would recommend

Cosy little tea room that was very accomodating of my 10.5 month old. There was only one high chair that I saw and not much space for prams but everyone was very friendly and we had a lovely little lunch - thanks!
R. L.
Biggest portion of plum bread I have ever had! Tasted good too. A little too hot in the room and had to wait outside for 10 minutes to be seated
B. M.
Friendly staff, Faye always looks after her customers! Delicious cakes as well. If tea is your thing, be sure to try Memory Lane.
M.

Lovely 40's themed tea room/cafe with tea served in china cups and proper tea pots. On our visit it was a tad chilly inside and could have done with some heating on but I would definitely visit there again.

Fantastic combination .

(Translated) Sweet Tea Room with attention to detail. The service is very good. The coffee is great for British standards, the cake delicious but almost too sweet. Nevertheless, gladly again!

Süßer Tea Room mit Liebe zum Detail. Die Bedienung ist sehr gut. Der Kaffee ist für britische Verhältnisse super, der Kuchen lecker aber fast zu süß. Trotzdem gerne wieder!

(Translated) The first time I came here, the French-style brisket is indeed unique, and the entrance melts and releases a strong romantic feeling. Worth trying.
As special as salmon, it has no fishy smell and is a healthy delicacy.
The restaurant has many other styles of cooking that will be visited slowly.
