Reviews of Rising Café
D. S.
Travelled from Cambridge and arrived to a very warm welcome from Lizzie who gave us an intro to the story behind the cafe and its team. The food was amazing - our thanks to the chef. Really great coffee too. The ambiance was great. Credit to all the staff for their attentiveness and friendliness. Wishing you all a bright and happy future. We will be back.

Out for the day in Lincoln and stopped here for lunch after seeing the good reviews. The food was very good, very tasty. Good coffee too, and we took cake away with us for later which was also very good! Would highly recommend to anyone in the area!
C. B.
When we arrived there was a 15 min wait for a table for 4 people. This in my mind was a good thing. And what can I say but I was right.
I rearly go out for food and give a 5 star review without being slightly generous but in this case I don't need to be generous. This is truly a 5 star rated place.
The price is reasonable and this is reflected in the potion size. Large but not too big and very filling.
The variety available was overall good for lunch and tea and coffee selection was larger then expected. Just note there is no alcohol served here, but is not needed as the environment is superb and supports the ethos of the cafe.
The food was superb and the selection of meat and vegan foods was good. The kids face at the sight of the kids afternoon was one of excitement, especially when seeing the size of the cake.
The burger patties were thin but wide, homemade, like all the food, cooked to a juicy succulent state. Yummy.
The nuggets were diced chicken pieces so quality from the start, batter was slightly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Not greasy or soggy or too much for the meat. Best nuggets I have ever had.
If you like cake and coffee this is also the place for you with the sizes of the cake portions you will be taking some home, and it will be well worth it.
As you can tell we really enjoyed the food and set in a venue that is modern with a classic touch I felt relaxed and that the food fits the venue.

The atmosphere and staff are wonderful. The food was delicious and at a very good price! 100% recommend

The experience was worth the short wait in the queue. Friendly staff with a personal touch, really fresh tasting food (even the dirty fries tasted healthy!), good laid back atmosphere and nice and bright with the transparent roof. We'll def be back
S. W.
Great food and drink lovely atmosphere and cause. A little expensive but nice for a change . Plenty of vegan options parking around the corner and accessible to wheelchairs and pushchairs

My first time visiting today, and wow I wasn't disappointed. The energy and all that this café stands for is outstanding. Food beautifully prepared and was delicious. Coffee made by Christine was so delicious we had to have a second cup. We even bought some to take home. Absolutely recommended to anyone. You will not be disappointed. Thank you everyone for a fantastic welcome. Xx

Lovely people, great food and a wonderful atmosphere. Could it be better? Yes. It would be good to be able to book a table as it's so popular. Will I go again? Definitely, even without the booking system. Just be relaxed about the time, as it's well worth the wait!!!!!!!

First timers to the Rising Café, we were delighted by what we found. A calm, welcoming and friendly space that somehow managed to feel relaxed despite being very busy.
I think this is down to the staff being both charming and efficient - taking the time to help my son order his own food and being very accommodating with my partners food requests, whilst also getting our meals to us promptly.
The food itself is delicious, well presented and tasty. The menu has a wide range of interesting choices for different dietary needs - e.g. gluten free/ vegan - and is reasonably priced. We enjoyed refreshingly cold smoothies (loved the 'defence' one which was like a holiday in a glass with its tropical flavours) and the iced water was much appreciated on a warm day.
I'd much rather support a local charity with their recovery work and their social mission. They've really got something special going on here and absolutely deserve their top rating scores.
K. B.
Everything about this place is incredible....the food, the drinks, the customer service, the mission, the atmosphere and the décor. This is the second time we have visited and as with the first, the food was simply amazing. Such a great value for money and the menu is so inclusive, with plenty vegan options and gluten free options too. Dan who greeted us, was warm and friendly and made us feel so welcome - thank you Dan.
My new favourite place to eat in Lincoln, by far! I can't wait to visit the café again.
p.s. I would 100% recommend the milkshakes!!!
M. E.
Arrived to a very warm welcome, was allowed to pick which table we wanted to sit at, the service was very friendly and laid back. We ordered a drink and some food from the extensive menu. I went for the double decker burger with skin on Fries. Incredible food and one of the best burgers I've eaten, if you like the American style burgers this will be right up your street!
R. B.
I went in for the first time with my wife for lunch. We had the afternoon tea for two with mini burgers, scones and a selection of cakes and pot of tea. It was fantastic. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was very nice and was too much to finish in one go. At £22 it is not cheap but very good value for the quality. They offer lots of homemade food with prices from a couple pounds up to the afternoon tea at £22. We will definitely be going again.

Definitely the most inspirational cafe ever I have been to. It's run by a charity and staffed by volunteers who are all on the road to recover from addiction and troubled history. The cafe is trendy, clean and is full of amazing upcycled things. To top it off the food is delicious. Portions are generous and well presented. Staff are friendly, lovely and so so humble. Our family of 5 loved it and I am sure yours will too. Every penny you spend here goes into improving lives of volunteers, which will make your visit even more special.
N. C.
Probably the best brownie and cappuccino I've ever had! My sister had the carrot cake and was equally impressed, really nice genuine friendly staff too, we'll definitely be back soon, thank you 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
J. H.
I'm a regular at the Rising Cafe today my friend and I got chatting to a lovely couple of ladies Donna and Penny. We learned more about the fantastic charity Betel UK that helps. I want to give a massive shout out to the kitchen staff and chief who cook the most delicious food. I have ceoliacs disease and gluten free is no problem at all. So if your reading this and haven't been to The Rising Cafe. You should definitely go. 😊
D. P.
Very, very tasty food as well as drinks. The staff is friendly and are full of positive energy. Such a good place to spend time!

I had my first order from Rising Café throughout lockdown and we treated ourselves to one of their takeaway afternoon teas. It was absolutely fantastic! Everything tasted delicious, it was presented nicely and the portions are so generous. When we went to collect our order, the staff were super friendly and everything was in place for a Covid-19 safe collection. The café itself is so quirky and lovely, I can’t wait to be able to visit the actual café and enjoy an afternoon tea in their lovely settings, hopefully some day soon.
K. H.
This is probably the best café to come in Lincoln as it raises money to a charity that helps people with drug and alcohol addictions recover and get back into society if they’ve been homeless or in prison. The food here is delicious, and really cheap for what you get too. I love the staff here they’re so friendly and chatty, and explained the Covid 19 restrictions really well. They talk to you like you’re family. I loved my vanilla milkshake and my friend loved her s’mores hot chocolate too. Will definitely be back again and again. Come at opening time. If you don’t they’re fully booked for the rest of the day, they’re that good.
M. R.
We have been a few times now, travel from Nottingham with the soul intention of coming here, food excellent , staff just lovely and a very inspirational place to go, individuals turning their lives around xx
D. M.
Glad to have stumbled across this cool cafe. Chatty and friendly volunteer staff, good quality food and drink and excellent value too. All with a great cause at heart too. If visiting Lincoln find this place for a refresh and support a great cause whilst having a great bite to eat and drink.
S. C.
Loved the welcoming relaxed vibe, casual interior and a really varied menu. Our sandwiches came with homemade crisps (yum!) although we're really pleased we ordered a side of skin on fries because they were delicious! The food was great but the real standout here is the staff and the service - so kind, helpful and intent on making every part of the experience of dining here a pleasure.
E. B.
Lovely place to eat and drink. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hot chocolate was very nice. I tried a vegetarian hot dog with fries which was alright. We were waiting for a little while for the bill as I think someone forgot but not to worry.
m. c.
I went here for lunch while visiting a friend in Lincoln. It is a great place with a lovely atmosphere. The food was excellent and the staff were helpful and accommodating. Plenty of choice for vegans, vegetarians and meat-eaters. Definitely a 5-star rating and I wish there was somewhere like this in Hackney :)
C. S.
Popular and quirky cafe very close to Brayford Wharf. We love it here! The staff are so friendly and the food is really tasty, portion sizes are great too. You must try the chips! Next time we come we are going to have one of the Afternoon Teas - they always look so fantastic when they come out! You can't go wrong here.
A. [.
Very nice place. The staff were fantastic and so was the food. Would definitely go back again. I would like to see places like this getting rid of plastic straws though.
T. R.
Excellent food, lovely staff, and good vegetarian choices.
A. M.
The most welcoming and efficient, friendly staff you could possibly wish for. Superb smoothies. Wonderfully, vibrant, yet relaxing environment. Coffee and cakes looked fine. Really, a great experience.
G.
First class cafe. Staff very helpful. Good quality food. Be there as early as you can as it fills up quickly.
K. C.
The guys running this place are amazing, doing amazing things, and are so nice and helpful. The food is amazing and loved the jasmine tea! Will definitely be going back
C. S.
Excellent food and service. Would have liked the scone to be a little less generic, maybe homemade but it was nice. Also the ice cream with the brownie tasted very cheap.
g. h.
We love this cafe and go whenever we're in Lincoln. It does lovely food in an atrium between 2 church buildings and is run by a charity. The staff have all been affected by drugs and homelessness. The atmosphere is friendly and open and the decor is eclectically retro
E. N.
Brilliant service, friendly staff, amazing background story. Will 100% be coming back. Yummy food too
J. D.
Fabulous staff, excellent customer service. Brunch was great. Need to go back and work our way through the menu. 😊
D. D.
We enjoyed a nice cup of coffee and a tumeric latte. Excellent friendly service. Highly recommended.
M. M.
Although you sat and wait for a table for a while, the service is great and the food is high quality. Lovely friendly and welcoming staff members who make you feel very comfortable. The willingness to provide you with what you need for dietary requirements was outstanding. The atmosphere and attention to detail was adorable 😍 thank you!
D. C.
Friendly staff, efficient service and delicious food. It's cheap too! You can get a decent meal for £3/4. Space for laptops and free wi-fi (although it was painfully slow). Will return!
E. L.
The staff are lovely and the food is incredible. Cannot recommend this place enough :)
A. B.
This place is so amazing not only Is the food and coffee out of this world, the service was friendly
What this place is helping to achieve is so thoughtful, absolutely loved this place
J. B.
Fantastic food, drink and service. Stumbled on it accidentally but really glad we did!
L. I.
Great food and plenty of veggie options. Attentive and lovely staff.
T. B.
Highly impressive. We had the saloon fries, which were delicious, and the jackfruit bao, a Veganuary special, which were sensational, and which I hope become a permanent fixture on the menu. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful in seating us and helping us choose. Although Rising Cafe was busy when we visited, it was a relaxing environment with a pleasant buzz. This is a cafe with a worthwhile mission behind it, which would be reason enough to visit, but it is also a friendly place with excellent food.
a. s.
Excellent food, good value, great staff and venue. We will be back...
G. G.
Great food, great atmosphere and lovely staff :)
T. W.
Staff were lovely and attentive, lots of options for veggies / vegans. Will definitely visit again ❤️
f.
Excellent service, great food and very willing to cater for allergies and dietary requirements. Also all proceeds go to a good cause which is an added bonus.
L. D.
Had a lovely breakfast, with a China tea pot & cup. Would definitely recommend.
A. A.
This is an amazing place with fantastic food and great service. The staff were warm and the ambience was lovely. I enjoyed every bit of my lunch on the first day, I had to return the following day and, I was not disappointed.
j. d.
Brilliant cuppa tea. Best I've tasted yet.
J. N.
Wow just wow we loved our experience at Rising Cafe. The food was fantastic and as I'm gluten and lactose intolerant there was a good selection of food to choose from. The staff were so friendly and helpful can't wait to go back, thanks guys x
K. R.
I wanted a sandwich and the sandwich options were just ok. I remember them having panini options in that past but they've gone now. Probably wouldn't go for a sandwich again, would go when I fancy more of a main meal
H. B.
Cute little cafe, with plenty of vegan meals available.. and cakes! I had a delicious vegan bakewell, with an oat-milk late 😋
R.
Great place!!
Had the opportunity to visit over the weekend. The decor is great, and really relaxing. They have a great selection of food, which tastes great. The staff were brilliant, extremely friendly and welcoming. They were really passionate about the place and food.
Well worth a visit.
J. R.
Excellent food, a nicely laid out menu and all for a good cause
J. H.
Lovely experience, definitely worth the short wait for a table. Service a little slow, but high tea was delicious!
R.
After two years of hearing rave reviews of the Rising Cafe I finally had the chance to visit! Beautiful aesthetic and interior that makes you instantly feel at home and welcome, while the staff are very attentive, charismatic and lovely. The food was absolutely delicious! I can't wait to visit again and support for hidden gem in Lincoln.
G. D.
Wow! Cracking little 40's theme cafe serving fantastic value, freshly cooked food, nestled between buildings. You'd walk past it unless you knew it was here. Well worth a detour from the high street.
L. H.
Lovely food and polite friendly staff enjoyed a nice lunch with family catch up
S. T.
Brilliant place,food yummy.Staff friendly,nothing to much trouble.Excellent 10/10
A. S.
Good vibe & ambiance. Nice layout, lovely food and drink. Friendly helpful staff.
B. S.
It was amazing! Great service and food! The energy shake is the bomb! Great atmosphere and they have a selection of feminine products
A. S.
Brilliant cafe.
I met my 2 younger sisters here for lunch. My sister's were 40 minutes late and I was left waiting for them at the table. At no point was any of the staff trying to bother me about my wait during what was a fairly busy time.
When my sister finally arrived we were greeted by Dan, he explained the menu and ordering process to us as well as explained a bit about the charity and how they helped him.
The food arrived in good time, very well presented, tasty and very well priced.
After we had finished eating we decided to hang around and have a chat over a brew. At no point was anyone rushing to get us out and turn the table around. We had a lovely afternoon chatting with my sister's.
The rising cafe is a brilliant place to eat and staffed by even nice people, betel is a great cause and help people out no end, I will definitely be coming back.
Thanks Dan and everyone else there.
J. S.
Nice place to eat something quick / on the rush
Service quite fast but a bit messy☹️ but always with a smile
P. a.
Fantastic food. Staff are all volunteers, all profits go to charity. Well worth a visit.
N. H.
Lovely place , excellent food and lovely staff.
J. B.
Fabulous place, great food, lovely service, beautiful atmosphere, the veggie and vegan selection and alternatives is really comprehensive so you don’t miss out on any of the toppings, sides, sauces! Really recommend it. It’s doing good too with some admirable local community food ethics which is rare they are even trying with their packaging impact etc.. . Well done a credit to your cause and an example on how to progress positively in a time of sustainability 👏👏👏
R. S.
I often cone here with my girlfriend. Such a cool venu with really lovely staff.
Aside from the fantastic cause it supports, the food is excellent! The menu offers something a little different but a great selection of cake and normal bits. The milkshakes are amazing!
G. L.
This restaurant is so much more from the inside than it promises from the outside.
The outside is uninviting, the inside is quirky, modern and trendy, yet cosy.
The food is brilliant, with many new twists on old favourites, as is the service by ever so friendly staff. And the prices are very fair.
Perhaps most important is the message behind the place which is run by the charity Betel UK.
Our waiter explained how he, and other members of staff, had come from a situation of sleeping rough and being on hard drugs through the work of Betel UK and that all proceeds go to them. Amazing in every way.
A. T.
Chicken salad was tasty, coffee was nice and hot, salad had crisps missing off it when it came and had to remind the waitress that they were included on the menu, but they were brought along straight away and were delicious home made vegetable crisps. The rest of our group had an all day breakfast for nearly £9 but it was an extremely small portion and then the drink was forgotten and had to be asked for again. Food was good but small portions.
S. F.
Fantastic food and atmosphere at a great price point.
S. M.
Service was a bit slow, but we weren't in a hurry. The food and drink was good, and it was great value for the quality. Will visit again.
A. T.
It's the first time I've been in today and the staff were beyond welcoming. So kind and friendly, without being false! The cafe has rustic/vintage decor and the space is so bright and open.
We ordered a children's meal each as we didn't really fancy the vegetarian options, but the portions were generous and delicious! We took our cake away with us because we didn't have enough room for it at the time 😂
r. W.
Beautiful café, really friendly staff, great varied menu with lots of vegan/vegetarian options, I had a 'Glow bowl' which consisted of mixed leaves, rice, chickpeas, avocado & then a choice of toppings, I chose sweet potato- see photo as my description doesn't do it justice!
B. K.
It has an amazing atmosphere. The high tea is affordable and delicious!
T. B.
Great little place that offers some fantastic food/drink at really reasonable prices. Clearly the place does a lot for those associated with Alive and you can feel positive that your visit helps others. The staff are so friendly and helpful, making the whole experience even better. Definitely worth dropping by for afternoon tea if you get chance or even giving anything on the specials board a try...you will not be disappointed!
L. C.
Food was really lovely, and I loved the atmosphere of the place.
C.
Really nice cafe. Awesome decor, great food and lovely staff. There were a couple of mistakes with our order and a hair in one sandwich. The staff were incredibly apologetic, remade the sandwich and gave us both free drinks as a sorry. Their customer service went a long way, and we will probably try this cafe again when we next visit Lincoln.
A. W.
Had lunch there a few times and food is delicious. All made on the premises by the delightful smells from the kitchen. Service was fantastic and setting is lovely. Really top place to eat and spend some time. Highly recommend.
J. T.
I'm a little bit in love with this place. The food was fantastic, the best chillidog I've had in ages. The atmosphere is welcoming and friendly, the staff are all great. Will certainly be somewhere I use often now. And the best part? It's all for charity, so you are actually doing something good whilst eating awesome food! Please give it a try when you next walk past!
A. T.
Fantastic food and wonderful service from the staff, loved it.
A. P.
Had delivery tonight and it was amazing! Full vegan burger deal with milkshake delivered to the door - our isolation treat :) chips were soooo good, proper triple fried with skin on. Lady who delivered it was in full safety gear and popped it on the boundary of our house when I came out so we kept distance. All packaging is recyclable including veg ware cups. Made our week! Thankyou!
S. H.
Lovely place. Amazing atmosphere, lovely staff, delicious food and all at a good price. Took my girlfriend here for her birthday and even she was shocked at all the veggie and vegan options! Will definitelybe coming back.
M. R.
A really beautiful place, with incredible food and a good cause. All of the staff are always friendly, and the menu is complete with vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options. The pricing isn't expensive, and the place on a whole is an absolute go-to when introducing friends and family to lincoln

In the past this place was very good value. Today it's a bit more expensive - but still reasonable for what you get. The food is fine and the place has a comfortable atmosphere. In an age of bland coffee and tea shops it is nice to see something a little different. Always go early to make sure you get a good seat.
Y. W.
Vintage, quirky and cute cafe with nice food! I am very picky with food but this cafe didn’t disappointed us. Chicken in my salad was freshly cooked, juicy and flavourful. I tried my partner’s hotdog and the sausage was so tasty and succulent. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Definitely going on the best cafe list!
R. V.
Went yesterday after seeing good reviews. Should have opened at 11 but was closed at 11.40 with a notice up saying opening at 12. When we returned at 12 were told it'd be another 15 minutes. Lovely little cafe & attentive staff. Food really nice especially the skin on fries. Burger however not very tasty & was served in an ordinary burger bun & not a pretzel bun as stated in menu.
S. N.
Always great food and good service
V. F.
Wonderful staff, very friendly and polite. The food was amazing very tasty and freshly made. Will most definitely go again Perfect! 😊
D. W.
Loved this place, has a great atmosphere. The shabby chic interior gives the place a relaxing feel. The food is really nicevand well priced and the staff were amazing, really friendly and happy, staff that actually wanted to be there. Will go again.

Amazing cafe, food was really nice, good prices friendly staff

Well what can I say about this place to do it justice? Went in today for the first time and wow....just WOW!! First of all it's a very nice building to spend a little time chilling in, the staff are wonderfully friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The food was utterly outstanding and very fairly priced. We had 2 speciality coffees and 2 "light" sandwiches, safe to say we wont need much tea.....HUGE portions and all for £20 including a good tip. The tip bringing me to my final point. This fab place in run by volunteers and every bit of profit goes to their work in the community. This meant that the staff are there out of love of what they're doing and not minimum wage and it shows in spades. To this end they do receive the tips so do so generously where you can! My heart felt thanks for making our visit today such a lovely experience and we WILL be back.
J. L.
Best cafe in Lincoln. Difficult to get a table but staff always try and squeeze you in. Last visit they were changing the menu and waiting on a delivery so not everything available but one small hickup in about 6 visits can be forgiven. Really socially conscious cafe, good menu, great venue, brilliant staff. Always a pleasure
L. E.
Fantastic food, friendly service.
M. C.
Went to visit my daughter in Lincoln & she took us to this lovely place. What a wonderful idea to help people who have been at rock bottom, the food, service & atmosphere was excellent. The staff were chatty & welcoming ( especially Dan) we had the afternoon tea, really good home made sandwiches & cakes at great prices. We will be back
K. S.
Had a great time again at the Rising Cafe. Yummy food as always, great polite staff, can not do enough for you. Thanks Dan for sorting out our cake! Wish you would open one in Nottingham. If you are in Lincoln make sure you go, you not be disappointed 😊
j.
Really friendly staff!! Service was one of the best I've ever had and the food was amazing. Vegan selection is very good. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
E. B.
This cafe had been on my to visit list for ages and I wasn't disappointed. Best to book as it gets busy. Food was fantastic, service was lovely and quick. Atmosphere, even though it was busy, was great and it wasn't too loud or claustrophobic like some places can be when they're full. Baby friendly with high chairs and pushchair space. Highly recommended. Can't wait to visit again.
C. k.
It was very busy and may be caused service to a little slow, but that's not a criticism. The food was good and well priced and the portion size was generous. The place was nicely decorated and helped to create a nice atmosphere.
H. E.
I can not recommend this place enough. It's tucked away so I had no idea it was here until a friend suggested it for lunch. I am very very particular with food ( I am American) and I was so impressed with the quality, atmosphere, staff and most importantly the food. I had a hot dog and jacket potato with chili. The hot dog was a proper hotdog and the chili was very close to the American chili I grew up eating. I will definitely be eating here more.
J. W.
Wonderful and creative twists on English tea on decorative dinnerware. The environment is full of character and charm. I highly recommend! Everyone at our table loved the Over the Border tea and the scones are some of the best.
K. “. C.
What can I say about this place to do it justice! The environment is welcoming and luminous; the staff is lovely and always with a smile on their face (and that is both priceless and hard to find in our days), coffee is warm, cakes are always delicious and the food soul comforting! But what I truly love about this place is that you can absolutely relax and enjoy every visit even on the busiest of the days! It doesn't matter whether you get a table on the main area or a space at the bar, you still enjoy a great view and exceptional service!
Huge BRAVO to all of you that make this place so special!
Will I go back? No need to ask twice! :)
C. A.
An amazing cafe with great morals. I have heard this cafe is run from recovering alcohol and drug addicts, which I think is an amazing thing to do. The food was awesome, it felt like I was in an old fashioned diner the entire time. Only issue was the queue's... but it's worth it for this place. It was absolutely packed with people as well as it is such a lovely place, and all the staff were dressed in old fashioned diner clothes. Great service, great food, great place.
C. H.
Really attentive staff, great cream tea. Learning about the ethos of the organisation and the history of some of the staff made the visit even more special. Would definitely recommend. Thank you.
I. B.
Lovely quirky Cafe, great and very efficient staff, and the food looks amazing though we only stopped for coffee this time.
Well worth a visit.
G. L.
Absolutely unique! These people are genuine and the food, straight to the point, no silly dressing, great quality. Hospitality is perfected. Nice easy setup.

This place has a wow effect. Firstly the interior - such a nice place! Secondly the coffee - a real one, not the ultra fancy sweet interpretation of a coffee. Thirdly theirs scones - simply amazing. And you don't have to take a loan to eat here as the prices are really good.
J.
First visit and busy . Had a green tea with freshly baked scone. The latter was lovely . The green tea came in one of those Japanese, very heavy teapot, along with a small vessel to drink from. As it did not have a handle it was very difficult and not pleasant to hold long at all to drink the tea due to it virtually burning my fingers!. Noticed lattes came in glass vessels , again without handles. Really not for me and I am afraid for this reason I won't visit again.
T. T.
Amazing food & staff, but expect queues at peak times ❤️
C. P.
This is a charitable run cafe which provides support for the needed. The service is exceptional and all the staff are welcoming and professional. Well worthy a visit. If you plan to go around 12 o'clock I would advise ring ahead and book a table.
M. F.
Very busy. Had to wait 10 mins, but staff very friendly and provided us with menus and recommendations and comfy sofa! After ordering food was very quick and delicious. Best sweet potato fries I've had.
J. N.
Had a lovely lunch. Burger very tasty. And had the benefit of knowing we were supporting a very worthy cause. The girls working there were very friendly and very informative. Would definitely return.
C. H.
Went here for lunch and it was sublime. Service was excellent. Amazing atmosphere and don't get me started on the food. Fantastic presentation and even better taste!!
Highly recommend for anyone
R. L.
It's a must, good food will profits going to charity. Staff very friendly too. Wheelchair access throughout. Ladies as the charities it supports helps women place bring extra nappies and sanatry products to leave in the loos.

Amazing little cafe with lovely food and very friendly and helpful staff
D. F.
Met a wonderful woman who works there. Her name is Penny. She told us about what the cafe was about and how it had changed her life. To be like she is having gone through so much is just awe inspiring. The place was nice and comfortable, the food was really good but, the story behind the fixtures and fittings is wonderful. Every time I'm in Lincoln I'm coming to visit. Please go and support this lovely place. H
K. F.
So glad we made it to Rising. Come for the great food and value, stay for the wonderful volunteer staff and vibe
V. K.
Awesome food and staff. Highly recommended a visit or 5 !
B. S.
Great place for lunch. Interesting place to sit, great food and good sized portions. Friendly staff (Lisa was really welcoming and took good care of us), and the fries with chilli is fantastic.

Had the gluten free 'over the border', and even though they seemed to have lost our order, they still realised after a while and handled it far better than most 'professional' restaurants. Great food, great service, always friendly, keep it up.
B. S.
Despite circumstances, service could have been better, with asking to top-up coffee, then replacing mug having found crack in it, to portion sizes having reduced in quantity, but still same price as before.
Otherwise nice staff & clean premises, along with quality foods
J.
Excellent service! Stellar food! I loved the atmosphere, it felt welcoming and refreshing. I will absolutely visit here again the next time I'm in the area.
F. A.
Gorgeous, fresh food made with good quality ingredients. Interesting twists on classics on the menu. Only downside is that it can be a bit noisy when busy.
L. G.
Amazing food with excellent service!
L. A.
Amazing little cafe, would 100% recommend to anyone!! If you’re in Lincoln please visit here, the sandwiches are incredible 😋
M. S.
The food and service was fantastic and the staff were extremely knowledgable and passionate about the meals they were serving. They also gave me a free scone as they'd cashed up before I had chance to order dessert, which is a win as far as I'm concerned.
p. e.
Brilliant place I had the chilli, very good and Julia the Oreo shake awesome.
But it is the building the staff and the concept that get my five stars even left a £5 tip for a £10 snack that,s a first. Keep up the good work. Peter and Julia from York.
R. L.
Home made and locally sourced food and leaf tea, it was fantastic and the staff were friendly and helpful and seemed to be enjoying themselves which made our visit really great. We will be back and would recommend
C. S.
Great food, lovely people. So amazing that they jumped straight on delivering delicious food, cakes and shakes especially in the vegan variety during lockdown!
T. J.
Amazing place! The staff are so friendly and the atmosphere is so relaxed. Food is great priced are taste really good.
C. M.
Great food, can be popular at busy times so you may have to wait for a seat. Milkshakes are the stuff of legend!
M. H.
Often come here. Its fabulous home cooked food. The staff are so helpful and friendly. Its like visiting family! A great atmosphere and really upbeat and positive. Please visit. You will love it.
F. M.
Never been to Lincoln before and wanted a good cafe for lunch. I can see why it is so highly rated by others. Staff are so friendly and happy. Loads of suitable food options for vegetarians/vegans. I bought off the Christmas menu and have to say its possibly the best toastie I have ever had (the friends Ross Thanksgiving toastie). Sublime. Mulled wine and christmas songs also helped the festive spirit. If I'm ever in Lincoln again I'll definitely be back.
A. L.
Had afternoon tea here with my fiancée today, the food was lovely and the staff were amazing! Made us feel extremely welcome! I would highly recommend!
J. I.
Very welcoming with really nice food. Helpful and friendly staff, especially Dan! Will be going back every time we go to Lincoln. Thanks for the cake!
k. p.
Excellent. Wonderfull food. Great atmosphere
R. A.
Simply the best afternoon tea you will ever have. Other food is offered if afternoon tea isn't your thing. Stunning place, fantastic staff who are very attentive. Is run by the charity Betal UK - which just adds to how awesome it is.
A. C.
I visited the Rising Cafe today with my sister and niece, what a lovely cafe, we were welcomed by some amazing staff who bent over backwards, chatted to us and gave us some of the best customer service I have ever had, especially Dan! Food was amazing and portions were very generous! We will be returning
S. C.
Quirky and eccentric. Unusual menu. Generous portions. Friendly staff.
A. N.
My wife and me had a take out afternoon tea from Rising Cafe organised by my granddaughter. It was brilliant. Plenty of tasty food and more than enough. I would recommend it.
C. D.
The quality of the food and service is brilliant. The politeness of the staff is commendable, as is other aspects of the café. Definitely worth a visit.
C. B.
Have been here before but the first time since their reopening after lockdown and it's just as good with the usual hand sanitiser and other precautions. Food lovely as usual and felt welcomed and safe.
A. A.
Absolutley love this place. Love what it stands for. Great staff especially Penny who goes above and beyond for the customers. Beautiful food. Great choice and reasonably priced xx
A. H.
Great food, great atmosphere, sandwiched between 2 historic churches. High tea in £9.50 each, very worth doing. Friendly staff. Will go again.
R. M.

L. B.
Another nice little cafe we visited while in Lincoln the staff was friendly. the drink my hubby hsd was a little to rich for him as the put jam into his milk shake which made it to sweet for him as for my coffe this was a little too strong for me but again this was made from real coffee beans but all in all our visit was warm and friendly that makes up for everthing would visit again & ask for a not such a strong coffee the next time the lady who surved us she was really nice
m. g.
Always love coming to this place for lunch or takeaway Lunch. Staff are always friendly (especially penny who was serving me today). Normally I have one of the great salads or the amazing chilli which I would always come back for.

I used to work in the cafe a couple of years ago for my work expereince
But now its seem to have changed wow i can,t believe how long it has been since i have left that place i have not visited that place for years
But it seems very nice and i am so glad they have made so much better
I really enjoyed working their a couple of years ago how time goes so quick
But i have now moved on with my life but i will always remember the good memories i had at that place i will never forget but it looks amazeing now

I was looking for somewhere to go for afternoon tea in Lincoln, where my fiancès sister and I could go to treat ourselves one Saturday afternoon. I turned my search to the internet and came across the Rising Cafè. With excellent reviews, three varieties of afternoon tea to wet our appetites and the fab unique and quirky decor, our decision was easy.
We arrived at 13.00 on a Saturday afternoon and whilst the cafè was busy we were easily seated. We ordered the 'Classic Afternoon Tea' and the 'Over the Border Afternoon Tea' to share, both of which were absolutely delicious. The staff were incredibly friendly and couldn't do more to help, this combined with the scrumptious food definitely made of first visit to the Rising Cafè one to remember. I will undoubtedly be returning without hesitation and bringing many more friends and family. We loved it 💖 Get yourself there, it's a must!!
K. S.
Love it here. Nice atmosphere. Good food. Coffees a bit strong! My favourite place to come. Liking the new toilets.
I. T.
Food is unbelievably delicious and the staff are the best anywhere. Prices are excellent and the décor attracts your attention constantly.
M. M.
They dont do specialist filter coffee but their machine americano is fantastic considering and one of the best coffee's in lincoln.
Nice, relaxed, my usual cafe. The music is fitting with the rustic theme.
Luckily not filled with up themselve students, unlike other popular Lincoln cafes.
A nice place to go if you dont want people to try and talk down to you, you just get left to it. Unless your so far up yourself that you wear yourself as a bobble hat, then go somewhere else as your not wanted.
H. D.
This place is amazing, outstanding. Not just for the food, but for the ethic behind it all. Would definitely put it as a go to place to eat.
B. H.
Excellent, fun and healthy food that caters for all at an affordable price. Tucked away in a cool upcycled setting with all proceeds going to the good cause of Betel. What's not to love?
