Reviews of The Angel Coffee House
L. D.
Called in for breakfast after reading the good reviews! My friend and I were not disappointed! Coffee was excellent, breakfast was awesome and the chef very accomodating! Thank you, we would highly recommend!
A. G.
Nice cafe, with friendly staff and a unique menu. Lovely loose leaf tea and a delicious chai latte. We both had Shakshuka to eat, which was a great choice. You could really taste the quality of the ingredients and the skill of the chef. It's not the cheapest in town but definitely worth the money!
M. D.
Grabbed a coffee from here with my daughter, nice little independent coffee shop. Seating outside is a plus, especially in good weather! Prices are normal for a city centre, parking is a no no in the centre, but the coffee is good 👌
K. A.
Hot chocolate was to die for and I've never had such a gooey grilled cheese sandwich! Would recommend ⭐
Update 3 months later: Would recommend the Biscoff Latte! Brilliant, friendly service and the food remains 'heavenly' 😁
D. M.
THE best coffee house in Lincoln. The food is absolutely phenomenal - it can take a while, but it’s always well worth the wait.
F. m.
Had the vegan brekky..... Very nice indeed and had a Dirty Chi coffee
J. G.
THE best coffee in Lincoln (and I’ve tried them all!!) and the cheese toasties are out of this world. I cannot stop thinking about it. One of my favourite coffee spots in the city. Lovely, friendly atmosphere too!
D. T.
Really lovely food, great spot and dog friendly, staff were lovely too.
D. D.
Great food, great drinks and the friendliest of staff. We will definitely be coming back here again. Loved it and the fact we could bring our puppy too was the icing on the cake.
A. B.
Sat in here watching the Queens coffin en route to St Giles. We ate a budda bowl and a shakshuka, both meals were fantastic. To drink we had 1 green and 1 lemongrass tea, served in teapots. Would definitely recommend
J. A.
Best Avocado toast I’ve ever had!
C. F.
Friendliest coffee shop in Lincoln! Lovely staff who will take the time to explain each and every brew they have and all the lovely food including warm sandwiches and plenty of vegan options. Seating inside and out including blankets for when its a bit nippy. They also have loyalty cards for a free coffee after 8. Dog friendly too and they keep a bowl which you can fill with fresh water in the sink. Can't say enough good things about this lovely place.
S. C.
Love staff, reasonably priced food and it was delicious! Coffee was good too
M. B.
Coffee was fair but not as good as others or even as good as it used to be. I felt the food was of a decent quality but pricey. The coffee house was clean and well kept but unfortunately the outside tables needed more attention.
C.
Overall very well priced, healthy food, just the staff could do with more training in customer service.
The service was underwhelming, the waiter didn't seem bothered to make me feel welcome at all, lack of eye contact and no smile etc.
The food arrived and had no seasoning or any real flavour, it just tasted bland. The appearance as you can see from this picture is very poor it's clearly just been "knocked up" with no care. There was also no check back as I was eating to make sure everything was ok.
Running a v/vg cafe is amazing and their doing a great thing for the world. The menu changes every day so I'm sure if I came back the seasoning situation may have been fixed.
M.
Friendly staff, great coffee and a lovely place to sit outside whilst it's teeming down!
A. G. (.
Hosted a great D&D night, and the food is fantastic. In particular, this magnificent thing: A Vegan Flapjack. Clearly made from the finest of Vegans, this thing was absolutely delightful; genuinely the nicest flapjack I've ever had.
Just goes to show you don't need to put meat in a flapjack to make it tasty. :P
Excellent grub; great service. Can't fault it; will be back. Thank you!
R.
Visited after reading so many positive reviews about their toasties and was not disappointed! Truly the best (and the largest) toastie I’ve ever had! Well worth the price. Staff are friendly and the inside is lovely and relaxed, looking forward to returning and trying more of their menu!
A. 5.
This is a lovely little cafe, run by friendly and helpful staff. Definitely worth a visit.
K. N.
A great find. Will becoming again soon. My 6 year old vegan loved it here too, she had the vegan cheese toastie and a vegan hot chocolate. I had a vegan BLT, and loved it.
H. B.
The best sandwhich I have ever eaten in my life! There were plenty of vegan options available, all looked amazing! And i'd definetly recommend the falafal and mango chutney sandwhich!
K. S.
This truly is Lincolns friendliest cafe. Very cosy, with great vegan options for sweet and savoury food. A must visit if you are in town or visiting the library.
M. B.
Lovely staff, amazing sandwiches and great coffee! Love to sit outside under the trees ☕️
D. B.
Had a lovely coffee here, but unfortunately my wife really didn't like the Earl Grey tea they serve here. Maybe just personal taste, but obviously not so good if one of you doesn't enjoy their drink. Not really a criticism of the place itself, but it did effect our enjoyment.
S.
Lovely to sit and relax and escape for a while. Great staff too to make you feel really welcome
P. G.
This is easily my favourite and the best coffee shop in Lincoln. I always feel calmed and relaxed every time I visit. Beautiful flat whites correctly made.
M.
Really nice local coffee shop. Great coffee, as long as it's not over-watered. Been a bit hit or miss lately with the coffee. Perfect tinder date location with a cozy, well decorated interior, though you may struggle to get indoor seating during busier times. Good vibes all round.

Living between two cities has its downfalls, finding a nice place to get some work done. Having found a nice coffee shop with good WiFi in one, i needed to find a place in Lincoln. A friend recommended that I swing by The Angel Coffee House and give it a shot. Situated on a street corner, a stone's throw away from the riverside shopping centre, the outside is well presented, with ample outdoor seating, most of which is suitably covered, with a nice green beside it. I believe that it is best to describe the building as an old chapple, with original features from doors to windows. The insite is clear, and very characterful - but small. If you intend on spending a couple of hours here working away, get here in the morning, as the place fills up come 1030 hrs. Power outlets are present at most of the tables, which are accompanied by comfortable chairs, and some low lying chairs for a more relaxed working experience. The Recommendation came from a friend who knew someone who fitted the WiFi in the space, which I am disappointed to say, isn't as fast as I hoped it would be - definitely something to work on. The Cafe bar is small, containing the baristas equipment, as well as the chefs area. No hidden kitchen anywhere, just an open work area, giving a great commutative vibe. Coffee wise, it's getting converted to 8/10. Good strength, with a slight bitter undertone - plenty of surypes on hand for flavour. It was well presented and in good quantity. The staff are friendly, and willing to serve you as soon as they can. They seem happy, and the working environment appears to be very relaxed, which gives them bonus points. I believe that at present, it is meant to be table service, but this is poorly signed, and I was unaware of this when placing my order at the bar.
Toilet is clean, small, and has a cool bi-folding door, with a latch on it so you can drop the kids off at the pool in the safe knowledge no one is going to join you.
Pricing is good for a independent coffee shop, and the menu is simple - non of the 47 different milks, and 89 different types of roasts, no pushy upselling of the good selection of food and cakes on offer (Which i did not try on this occasion, but did see the chef whip up a stunning looking bacon butty, on white farmhouse bread, with chrisp, freshly done bacon, crafted right in front of your very eyes).
I would like to see WiFi Speeds increased, and the tiles replaced on the coffee bar, along with a general tidy up of the bar area, but apart from that, the 'vibe' is there, boosted by the hippy-ecs background music, very funky.
Overall I feel that this will be a great place to waste away a morning of labour use emails and phone calls. As a self confessed coffee shop lover, this is getting a height of 9/10, only the second time i, a random person who has no influence over the coffee industry, has given a score this high.
K. B.
Seriously great coffee and friendly staff. Outstanding!
D. B.
Great coffee. Cakes are tasty but a bit expensive.
O. S.
Really good food, and decent coffee. It did however take me around 20 minutes to get served. A lovely place to relax and watch the world go by, I just wish I could have had my coffee sooner :')
T.
Quite simply, the best toastie I've ever had. (It was the vegan "tuna" melt.). The cheezes were delicious and plentiful; the "tuna" suitably fishy - but the star of the show was the sourdough toast which was perfectly prepared with just the right amount of crispy crunch in every bite. Add in the generous portion of slaw partnering the well-dressed side salad and, limited menu or not right now, you have a lunch worth making a special trip out for.
Oh and if that's not enough to tempt you, the coffee is superb too!
P. M.
This has to be one of my favourite cafes. Out of the way, off the tourist track, relatively quiet and based in one of the cities many, redundant, church yards. Although very small, inside a medieval/Tudor building, there is a larger seating area outside with huge all weather umbrellas. Excellent for summer of course, you take your chances and wait for a table off season. But, its worth it. They cater for most people, i am a Coeliac, so being able to have a sneeky cake is a highlight, especially as, in recent times, we seem to be forgotten. The coffee is excellent, service spot on, the staff actually check if you are okay, and dont ignore you like some places. Ideal for people watching, lovely setting, highly reccomended.
L. T.
Dog friendly cafe, good coffee, friendly helpful staff.
C. k.
Friendly staff and nice place to relax on a Saturday morning, watching the world go by. For a recommendation, the Baked Vanilla Cheesecake was sumptuous.
L. F.
Quick and friendly service is a standard here. Excellent coffee and atmosphere. Fab cakes.
L. I.
Great vegan breakfast. Lovely staff.
R. H.
Great tasting, smooth, well made coffee.
Nice atmosphere, comfy seats, good music.
R. R.
Had a lovely lunch/ brunch here. Really friendly staff, lovely chilled atmosphere and amazing food! (Grilled cheese highly recommended!)
L. F.
Staff is very nice and the place is very calm. Highly recommend.
U. S. S.
Same great coffee as ever currently served safely from a hatch with extra space between the outdoor tables for social distancing. Double shot standard, nice variety of syrups usually available and they change which is great if you love having a different flavour sometimes like I do.
G. G.
I went here with my brother, who was visiting Lincoln. We received great coffee, cake, and my brother appreciated the building, lovely atmosphere. Superb friendly service. I also love the ethos, on line community presence. Lots of interesting gatherings mentioned throughout the year. I haven't attended any (yet), but when I read the customers feedback, it is always interesting, positive & upbeat! Many thanks.
A. M.
Great to have a takeaway window, and a more than passable oat milk flat white. Breakfast options on the menu sounded yummy - very excited to try these next time we have a sunny sunday morning!
E. G.
Quirky little coffee shop. Excellent service.
M.
Lovely coffe, cheese toasties beautiful!!! Check it out!!!!
K. W.
Ace. Lovely staff. Great fresh food. Brilliant with our dog. We went three days on the trot. Loved it. Merry Christmas guysxx
R. B.
Great drinks, great cakes & treats.
It's a small, old chapel type building with plenty of charm & wonderfully relaxed. The only downside is the size, which can mean it's hit and miss if you'll get a space at any time, let alone the busy days or times. In the week, this can be down to single people using the WiFi while taking up a whole table, so Saturday is now a laptop free day! That said, there is seating outside and often people are willing to sit in the cold rather than go elsewhere (I think that says something).
The teas and coffees are excellent and I've never had a bad one. The variety of teas and coffees should suit everyone as they seem to have plenty of choice.
The decoration is in keeping and tasteful. There is also a smallish (cold) toilet in one of the entrances, should you need it.
This place is well worth a visit, in my humble opinion. :)
C. K.
This place does very good coffee, and I am pretty fussy. The cakes are good with lots of vegan options. They also do a few savoury options. There is not tonnes of seating there, but the atmosphere is very cozy and the staff are attentive and smiley.
L. S.
Excellent really good lovely staff clean lovely place
s.
Amazing, great selection of vegan gluten free cakes and some lovely unusual flavours. Small seating area but there was space outside. Service was great, so helpful and friendly. We'll definitely go back and visit again!
R. F.
This little cafe is without flaws! They offer a range of hot and cold drinks as well as hot and cold food from sweets to savouries. I had one of their fresh homemade toasties which are put together with love by the friendly staff that work there. If you're in Lincoln centre and want a stop at a little cafe break then I would definitely recommend this place.
s. G.
The cake was lovely and the atmosphere was very lively for early morning. Coffee was nice and strong . You can ask for a hotter temperature one so its really nice and hot . Staff friendly and good vegan range as well .
C. G.
Always friendly and welcoming. Nice atmosphere
M. P.
Great coffee, great service, great location, decor, vibe - just great. Go see for yourself. Enjoy.
A. S.
Banging cheese toastie, best I've ever had in my life xoxo
M. M.
Lovely coffee and the cake they serve is very good too, I love the vegan carrot cake. Outdoor seating is very pleasant and a good place to sit and watch the world go by. Staff are hard working and very nice and the cafe is very cosy inside too.
R. S.
My favourite place in Lincoln to grab a tasty lunch, a great cup of coffee or some delicious cake. Good selection of vegan and gluten free options if you so choose. The inside is really cool and the outside area is pleasantly set in the old church ground. Always a really warm welcome too.
g. c.
Ate the brunch buddha bowl and loved it
m. h.
Nice coffee, zero meat FYI
J. T.
Lovely coffeehouse in a beautiful old building which also has plenty of outdoor seating. It has a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere with community feels. Free Wi-Fi is super handy. Excellent drinks range, great food with plenty of vegan options, and quite possibly the nicest baristas in existence! Great place for either a quick refuel with friends or alone, or to hole up in for a few hours to get some work/study done.
T. J.
Great cafe, dog friendly, superb coffee and fantastic service what more could you want.👍
c. g.
This cozy independent coffee shop has built itself a strong customer base over the years with an ethos of good product, friendly staff and support local.
Who doesn't like Angel? Always try the food, it's hand made after all.
p. m.
Called in for a coffee after walking past on numerous occasions in the past and what a lovely place it is. The staff are friendly and helpful, beautiful building. I'm not a fan of coffee shops as a rule but this place is definitely on my return list.
J. F.
Delicious toastie! We got the grilled cheese and it was sensational.
R. F.
Perfect. Been visiting since I attended university in Lincoln. Just keeps getting better. Staff are always welcoming and warm. Coffee and food are also good. Always something new to see on the walls from local artists and photographers.
J. 4.
What a find!!! Friendly, efficient staff!! Although it was busy we weren't rushed when ordering... and also managed to find somewhere to sit. Oh.. and vegan cakes/eats too!!! We will be returning next time in Lincoln.
T. W.
Brilliant coffee and toasties. Made my dog feel right at home. Been back a few times this week!
V. A.
Love love love this cafe, decor is gorgeous, very postmodern millenial take on 1950s-60s, vegan menu, free from menu available, super tasty cakes and paninis, very original recipes, super friendly staff really courteous and savvy. Great place. They have a covered outdoor area too. Nice in summer.

The Angel Coffee House - Ooh, Heaven is a place in Lincoln..
I popped in to pass some time before an important job interview down the road - about 2-3 hours and I enjoyed every minute of it!
The customer service was second to none - a lot of places, not just cafes, could learn a thing or two from the staff here. It was friendly, welcoming and always went the extra mile; but in a very genuine way, rather than trying too hard to please.
I enjoyed my visit so much that I returned straight after my interview for some lunch, which was delicious!
I thoroughly recommend this place to anybody, whether local and looking for somewhere to meet with friends, or new in town like me and looking for somewhere friendly and welcoming to sit.
Thank you! You'll definitely be my regular cafe whenever I'm visiting Lincoln!
J. L.
Amazing coffee shop, lovely decor, great service and really good coffee. Haven't eaten there yet but all looks amazing. Lovely to sit outside watching the world go by
H. F.
Both times I've visited Lincoln this is the first place I've come immediately after leaving the station. They do the best berry tea I've ever had; and while it's a bit on the small side I've always managed to get a table. I definitely recommend checking this place out!
T. S.
Great local coffee house, currently operating on table staff, outside seating next to green area.
LGBTQIA friendly.
Give it a go!
A. R.
Lovely little coffee shop! Gorgeous cakes and coffee, dog and child friendly. It's a bit of a tight squeeze in some areas though. May struggle with pushchairs/wheelchairs
M. P.
Amazing coffees and food, warm welcome from sweet staff. Always such a relaxing ambience and friendly environment. Undeniably the loveliest coffee shop in Lincoln!
F. C.
Went for brunch and the coffee, food and service was brilliant xxx will definitely be back we sat outside and very dog friendly too 😀 thank you
D. P.
Can be busy hard to get a seat inside due to size of place. Staff are friendly and helpful lovely cakes and nice tea and coffee options they help local artists having work on the walls.
C. M.
The girls serving were lovely and very friendly while we sat in with our coffee and cake! Will definitely be going back! 💖
M. B.
Nice enough place to go for a coffee and the staff are friendly.
Watch out though for the agressive beggers and addicts that sit feet away from the tables outsite injecting and smoking drugs, in what would otherwise be a nice little green area.
A shame they allowed to congregate, or pass out there as it spoils what the cafe is trying to bring to the area.
e. c.
Best coffee house in Lincoln. Great coffee, tea & cake selection with some of the most friendly staff around! They're also dog friendly too
M. T. F.
I was looking for a quiet place where to eat a light bite and I have found this place on internet. Great tea and coffee selection and a fair choice of sandwiches also for people with dairy intolerance like me! I will definitely go back there!
b. f.
Had a takeaway, but there is lots of outside under cover seats in a great venue. the coffee was great and staff super friendly and helpful, recommend.
D. P.

N. F.
Me and my daughter went there and they were very welcoming and quick. The coffee was delicious and so was the hot chocolate. It is a very homely place and the sofas were comfortable.
A. L.
One of the best coffee shops in Lincoln. Really cosy and homey feel, but with top notch quality from baristas that have a passion for their craft. Highly recommend!
P. L.
Went in to get some warm drinks and cake. The people inside were lovely. The tea and coffee served was lovely. The location and style of the building was lovely... and they event let the dog sit inside.
A. S.
Lovely relaxed place for a coffee and light snack. Only a two minute walk from the High Street, friendlier, cleaner and much better coffe then the run off the mill chain coffee shops there.
1.
Always glad when I can get in here for a coffee. Nice atmosphere and cosy feel.
A. P.
Best coffee in town by far. Staff is friendy, helpful and remebers your face and always chats away. Food and cake...to die for. All fresh with a real explosion of flavours.
Can't recommend enough!!
G. T.
The best coffee house in Lincoln by far, and I have tried most. Excellent food and drink, a great selection of art that changes frequently (if a little too tempting to purchase). Nice to see that the recenet ownership change has not seen a change in philosphy. Hopefully the talk about more late evenings will pan out.
J. W.
Amazing coffee. Great staff. Nice and cozy with the option of outdoor seating (with rain cover if needed). We go here a lot since we found it
C.
Lovely quirky space exceptionally friendly staff great coffee and indoor dog friendly when it's raining hard well worth a visit
A.
Fantastic staff, beautiful old venue and delicious food and drink. Love this place! And the philosophy Club hosted here is a lovely way to spend one Monday evening a month
H. L. (.
Leading up to my final exams, I was desperately searching for a coffee house, and low and behold, above all others I tried in Lincoln, Angel Coffee is as perfect as it gets, I had the opportunity to try 3 of their deliciously unique drinks;
1) Iced Latte - this brought me back from the dead on the sunniest of my exam days.
2) Americano - as americano as it gets.
3) Chai latte - a fantastic way to show all of my friends how diverse and sweet the limit of my tastes can reach.
I'll be at when college starts again, promise!
Y. B.
This place is amazing. The staff are friendly and the food is delicious and healthy. Highly recommended
J. O.
Great coffee and a beautiful building
K. W.
Good Points: Great atmosphere, cosy interior, pleasant outside seating, excellent staff who try really hard to please. Really good handmade cakes.
Not so Good Points: You are in inside the nicest building around and the outside view is the back of the Waterside Shopping Centre. Shame they didn't give that side the same cod-Mediaeval / Victorian / Edwardian pastiche treatment they gave the rest of it.
Laptops etc: Free WIFI, just ask for the password. Plenty of power sockets they encourage you to use.
Overall: Well worth taking a small detour to find this oasis of calm so close to the bustling High Street
B. J.
Cozy artisan casual brisk service with varied seating inside and out.
K. D.
Amazing vegan food!
R. F.
Amazing staff. Great place to sit outside and relax with a lovely cuppa.
S. G.
Excellent coffees! When two Melburnian coffee snobs visit a café in the UK and rave about the quality, you're on to a winner.
Best coffees we've ever had in England!!
A. F.
Great coffee. Great food and excellent customer service. Always make me and my friends go back. It's a must visit. This is my favourite coffee house I Lincoln
w. r.
Honestly lincoln was let down by drunken away fans who were being chased by lincoln police officers and some water side security guards. 1 or 2 of these visitors to our fair city ran into the coffee house and tried to hide in the toilet. ( yes The Angel has a toilet too) the offending away fans ran directly into our table. .. in the voice of Jean Gerade. .. ah you have made me spill my macchiato! They we're promptly aressted for whatever reason and taken away. I had nothing to quench my thirst after a delicious biscuit and and a chocolate muffin! Lovely place fantastic staff and superb selection of quality coffee. Outside seating with massive umbrella, snug and warm inside on those cold days..
g. L.
Lovely hot chocolate and toastys. Friendly, welcoming staff. Comfy seats and relaxed place for a coffee

K. C.
Always a friendly welcome, great food - exceptional cakes - quality coffee. Perfect example of a passionate and professional local business.

This is a nice little old church that has been turned into a cafe. The prices are quite high in my opinion but maybe not to others but the tea coffee cake are all of a good standard and very nice.
F. S.

This is where I go when I want a coffee. Really nice and cosy and out of the way. The coffee is nice although they had forgotten to make my coffee whilst I was sitting outside. Just a shame it faces the bingo hall :(
