Reviews of Bar Italia
S. A. B.
Not really a coffee chick, much prefer tea, but this place was quite amazing. We visited late on a Saturday night and apparently its open really late. I ordered hot chocolate but my companions ordered all sorts of coffees and tiramisu too. Very good service.
A. B.
Great. Fabulous little place opposite the famous Ronnie Scott's jazz club. Authentic slice of Italy in Soho. Food / drinks good. This place hasn't changed much over the years, long may it continue. Go on have a coffee / Italian snack or whatever tickles your fancy.
M. M. C.
Exceptional coffee place in Soho.
Every time we visit London, you can guarantee that we enjoy a cofé in Bar Italia and most probably we have a pizza too for breakfast. And depending on my mood I have a Cognac to wake up my insight spirit.
Very good service.
B. D.
The cutest little authentic Italian coffee shop tucked away. Delicious pizza, cannoli, tiramisu and proper Italian coffee. Lovely staff and friendly vibe so will definitely visit again
M. C.
Now one of my preferred coffee places in London. Been twice now and always got a seat inside despite the place being a incredibly popular place. As someone who used to live in Southern Europe, walking through the doors feels like taking a portal to a classic neighborhood café. The interior has a familiar and timeless feel.
The coffee itself is absolutely excellent. Strong but not overwhelmingly bitter, sweet but not too sweet. Just perfectly balanced.
The one thing I would say that leads me not to offer five stars is that I wish they would ask if you want anything else before bringing you the bill straight away, perhaps explain what food they have. Just that something extra. As soon as they set down the coffee, the card reader is immediately held in front of you. I might want to sit with my coffee for a bit and then have a pastry. Because if this, the service can come across as a little cold at times, though you can see they work hard. That and the prices. I know it's central London, but £3 for a bottle of water is a little steep, especially when I purchased a coffee already and just wanted a small glass of tap water, the kind you would be served with an espresso. I don't mind the price of the coffee itself, however, because of the quality.
I. N.
One of my favorite coffee shops in London. Feels like going back in time every time.
The place features Italy with all its Glory: soccer, pastries, Motorsports and of course, coffee.
The coffee itself is super good and the quality of the cakes is amazing.
Had the lemon cheese cake, which was really awesome.
The staff is always very nice and cheerful to make the experience even better.

Our friends took us to Bar Italia for coffee and dessert last night. My friends and my spouse described all their respective colourful youthhood stories spent at Bar Italia. It is a place that withstood the test of time. The friendly people at Bar Italia were warm and represents community spirit. We had americano, cannoli, cappuccino, chocolate cake, hot chocolate and tiramisu. They tasted perfect in the simple and traditional way. Places like Bar Italia is rare now. It is a privilege to be at Bar Italia and I hope it continues to stand. Thank you all at Bar Italia! x

Always a huge fan of Bar Italia!
Best coffee place in Soho
As London reopens after lockdown it was great to be able to enjoy a cortado and an amaretto liqueur in the afternoon sun!
Great place to sit and people watch in Soho
E. J.
Always amazing! If I am in Soho I am definitely going to Bar Italia! Beautiful coffee, lovely very welcoming staff. Amazing atmosphere!
Highly recommended!
J. H.
I came in today to Bar Italia for a coffee ☕
I enjoyed it and the staff were very helpful and friendly
It's good the Bar Italia is still going
I will be again soon
A. V.
Iconic place, great coffee. Staff hit and miss. very good overall.
M. P.
I love everything about it. The service, the food (specially paninis), the coffee, and the ambiance in general. They also have quality drinks. Do not hesitate to go for a drink and a snack, you will like it!! It is very Italian!!
N. B.
You won't find a more authentic Italian Cafe than this in London! Bar Italia is LEGENDARY! Their coffee is amazing and their italian pastries are to die for. This cafe started in 1949 and a lot of its features are still authentic. They only take CASH on their NCR cash register from when the cafe first started out and their Gaggia coffee machine is over 50 years old and still making the best coffee in London! Go check out the photos on walls of the world famous movie stars and whos who that have made Bar Italia their spot or sit out front and watch the people going about their business in Soho and wait for Ronnie Scotts to open across the road.
A. N.
Waited 30min for a pizza. Only 3 people in the place already served so really no reason to wait. Their reason? They also make the pizza for the next door restaurant. If you can't manage both, don't do it... 3 stars saved by the taste
C. M.
They offer delicious pizzas, but they taste even better when you have a lot of drinks! Heh heh… although I can notice the staff’s uneasiness in receiving orders from a Deaf person like me as they don't seem to be used to me pointing at the menu but nothing too bad.
R. F.
Legendary authentic Italian cafe in the centre of Soho. A real London institution. The coffees are fantastic, and the interior decor is traditional Italian cafe Style. Extremely popular with London Metropolitan Police so don't be surprised if you see a load of police officers in here also. Highly recommended
C. M.
A great place for coffee! Love the tiramisu & limoncello 😁😁
H. B.
Good Coffee from a nice old red Gaggia espresso machine. Best Cortado I’ve had in London! They serve cakes as Well as sandwiches and other treats. Rocky Bilbao is Looking at you from the wall behind the bar. The gentlemen behind the bar serve good Coffee with a smile. Heart of SoHo: pay them a visit!
D. d.
Coffee took a little too long to come out but great feel + very friendly staff.
H. R.
Fantastic bar, a favourite in London! Friendly staff, and great setting!
S. E.
Bar Italia serves great Italian coffee for the perfect pep, with matching Italian attitude. The coffee is strong and rich, but not bitter. If you are feeling decadent try one of their delicious cakes — my favourite is the cannoli! The atmosphere is buzzy and cosmopolitan. This beats all of the nearby coffee shops in Soho hands down.
R. M.
A unique Soho experience. Great coffee and friendly owners. Perfect spot for street photography or people watching.
L. B.
After my boyfriend and I had just left Italy, we were on a Spritz high. All we wanted to drink were spritz. Amsterdam and Switzerland didn’t offer any so when we found this bar in London, we were ecstatic. The bar lives up to its name. It was late and this bar was FULL ! The music fit the atmosphere and the few people working behind the bar were extremely friendly and fun. We finally got to have another spritz and it was perfect ! They were about $8 a piece. We grabbed some drinks and sat over at a small table. There was a soccer on the tv and everyone was watching and drinking. The vibe in here made it my favorite bar in London
j. s.
Fantastic coffee on this family owned Soho favourite.
Like walking in to Italy, without the cost of a flight!!
D. L.
I have been going to Bar Italia since the early 1980's. Always wonderful and full of characters. Great staff and atmosphere.

M. B.
First Class Italian Coffee Shop. Probably the best in London.
M. J. S.
Very Italian, pleasant service, decent coffee, served in a no nonsense way.
Update: Coffee is still great, food service is rather patchy and quite forgetful. Their tiramisu is quite decent and is more substantial than it looks from the serving size. I will keep coming back for coffee, when I am in the area, but to get more than a quick bite, I will probably choose a different place.
s. g.
Best pizza I had for the longest time!
The dough was exactly the right thickness, with excellent tomato sauce, and precise baking, the side dishes on the pizza were exactly the right amount. In conclusion if you are in London and want a delicious Italian pizza this is the place you should go to.
K. M.
Lovely historic place that's worth a visit. Excellent coffee done the old fashioned Italian way on an antique machine.
T.
My absolute without doubt favourite place for coffee and late night frolics. Exceptional place in the heart ❤ of Soho
I. S.
Great coffee. Every sweet I tired was great, but the canelone is the top. Won't go amiss some more polite and careful attitude. Otherwise this is a great place.
R. R.
Iconic. Nice coffee, desserts are limited, but good. Open late!
B. S.
Traveled the world over and still feel like this is the best pizza anywhere. Highly recommend. Ate here just a couple of hours after dining at The Queens Head (only because it was our last night and I wanted authentic Italian pizza) and let me tell you it was phenomenal. Crust was absolutely perfect with a slight crunchy bottom and a soft tender inside. Pizzas made to order in a 40 year untouched gem of a spot. We can’t wait to go back. Yeah service was slow but it wasn’t careless slow it was we’re doing this the right way slow.
J. D.
Fantastic chicken escalope sandwich! Decent espresso as well. This is not fine dining or anything close to the mark. Get in, get your food, carry on and you will be pleased. As a quick authentic Italian sandwich shop in Soho that won't break the bank or be a tourist trap, it is awesome.
B. R.
Best espresso in London, hands down. Always a crowd, getting a spot out front at the few cafe tables is a highly coveted feat. Well worth it though of you can.
s. e.
The best coffee I had in a long time. And the atmosphere there is really Italian, you can hear people talking Italian and the TV is on Italian channels lol Would definitely go again when in Soho.
K.
Consistently the Best have been coming here for years and years , always rich creamy lovely coffee and tasty fresh pastries as well as charming service.
It doesn’t get much better..
A. S.
Because hipsters ruined coffee by turning it into an undrinkable sour poison this is one of the few places in London where I feel safe after ordering a espresso. Lovely place. Nice staff. A slice of Italy in Soho.
S. f. S.
Superb Soho coffee stop.. the legendary and family owned Bar Italia
H. J.
Long history of serving good Italian coffee practically 24/7. Cakes are pricey but a treat.
P. F.
Great place to watch the world go by while enjoying a good coffee
T. W. L.
If you want some genuine Italian cafe experience Bar Italia is your answer. Beautiful Italian coffee with classy decor. Don't miss out its rich and creamy cappuccino.
O. M.
I loved the way Fleet street and soho in general closed the streets and filled them with tables. Way to go. It will be hard to keep it going once the winter arrives, but very enjoyable now in September. I order a hot chocolate that was too sweet and not very chocolaty. The desserts in the bar display did not look too appetising so did not order
S. M.
Great coffee, food was tasty and hot, great atmosphere with its gritty old school, little Italian village that can not be faked, will definitely be back.
R.
been coming here on our bikes for years, good coffee and open 24hrs, recommended ;-)
J. S.
Friendly staff. Strong coffee. Lot's of space to sit outside...
L. M.
The food and coffee are great. Though only cash payments are possible.
P. J. W.
If you like strong espresso, this legendary Italian cafe in Soho is the best place to get it this side of the Alps!
E. W.
Is a great little bar to go after in soho. Pretty Quiet as well considering we was in gay cantal and it can get pretty busy and hard to get into places.
P. G.
Best Cafe in Soho, consistently good👌🏿
C. W.
What can you say about this place that probably hasn't been said before.
Nostalgia abounds in this coffee shop and the coffee is superb too. If you're in the Soho you must pay a visit.
i. s.
This is the real thing!. Espresso “Italian style!!
Rossano makes the best . Smooth creamy great taste . I have never had such a well made espresso and cappuccino in London It is as good as it can get. Cappuccino is another speciality with him . Bravo Rossano
C. H.
Soho institution but be prepared to pay £7.50 for a latte and a cannoli. It's a family run joint, who enjoy shouyig at each other, full of locals, loads of italians hang out and has kept most of it's original decor from the 50s/60s. Go for nostalgia and a taste of what Soho used to be like.
J. P.
Love this place, everything is fresh, the coffee always made properly. Expresso with a dash of baileys is amazing. Highly recommend, don’t go to one of the standard chain coffee places when this is such good quality and authentic.
V. I.
Stopped in here on a cold weekday afternoon in December of 2018 to check it out, have a coffee & cannoli, and warm up a bit. Was not very crowded when I stopped in, which is unusual from my understanding. That helped me get a nice table in the back where I could rest a moment and charge my phone. The ambiance, history, and good coffee make this a stellar place for me, and one I'll make a point to visit any time I'm in London.
P. L.
Great place for coffee and snacks and people watching in this nostalgic cafe
S. L.
Called in for a post-dinner dessert as restaurant tiramisu tends to be pretty average. Good decision, was good quality, 'home-made' with a good dose of coffee. Service was un-fussy, which was fine with us!
J. L.
Had a great time here with my friend. The coffee is excellent and the stuff is very friendly. Love the Italian vibe!
T. D.
A lovely glimpse into old soho. One of my favourite coffee shops. Bring cash though. Grab a seat outside and watch the world go by.
L. A.
1949 special!! Original and still the best coffee!!!
A. E.
Proper feel!
r. m.
Historical independent Italian coffee house , small selection but fresh, the chains near by stuff doesn't feel as fresh ( lots of glucose to keep it moist for days ) stuff here tastes like it's made to be eaten today ( fresh cream ... )
m. f.
Best coffee in town, served by the best @ the best venue
N. S.
Obligatory old-style Italian espresso bar. One of the best in London. When friends visit and want to see Soho, this is always a stop on our walk.
N. B.
Excellent as always. Great place to chill grab a coffee a slice of cake or a sandwich before you continue with the night.
J. R. H.
Wonderful location to watch the world at play. Always friendly staff and a great selection.
R. N.
Very good espresso (large in picture). Nice bar.
L. G.
YOU FEEL UR IN ITALY,
IN THE OLDEST ITALIAN BAR IN LONDON, SINCE: 1949,
BUT VERY EXPENSIVE £££ . . .
E. M.
If you order on the counter you will probably be ignored by the staff coz they think you won't tip them. Sad because the coffee is excellent. I love the place style, the music. Don't order the Oreo cake. It tastes nothing and is overpriced. The tiramisu is great though
I. “. O. B. B.
This is where we always end up on trips to London - It’s our favourite.....
J. F.
This little cafe won my heart with their REAL coffee and the amazing sweets they have (you need to try the lemon cheese cake with sultanas!!!). The pizza was fine (not great), and the wine was not for my taste (a bit sour). The staff was amazing and very attentive.
J. W. (.
Great coffee, attentive staff. Great for a quick beverage.
N. L.
Bar Italia is a true Soho institution. The tiled floor and wood panelling help ensure this coffee bar retains a sense of originality and character that so many chain stores can't buy. Grab a stool inside or enjoying people watching at one of the outdoor tables. Cappuccino comes highly recommended with a slice of one of the many delicious cakes on display. You can also enjoy a beer or prosecco as is your want. Ringing up the tab on the old cash register adds the sense of a piece of family history. This place is a must visit when in London!
L.
The cappuccino lived up to the hype and I'm rather picky about my espresso. Great spot to people watch with excellent cappuccino.
M.
The staff here make you feel at home and I love coming here and recommend anyone and everyone to come here.if you sit outside having the amazing coffee or even a hot chocolate you can just sit here and watch the world go by .Close your eyes and just listen to all the languages where you pick one to another it's amazing.Enjoy the moment everyone
D. R.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. Be it first thing in the morning on the way to work or the last stop before going home. Always hoping and great atmosphere.... they also make GREAT coffee. No messing about. Order and enjoy. Don't be a tourist!
A. K.
Legendary London spot. You can go here any time of the night and enjoy a nice Italian coffee. With people coming in and going out, and with staff moving around and smiling, it's quite a buzz here. It gets the occasional happy drunks later in the evening, but generally a nice atmosphere. Be mindful that it's pay by cash - but it adds to the Italian charm.
O. Z.
Another gem reveals itself....as we were walking around Soho late night, just after 11 PM when most of the restaurants close. We had already enjoyed an incredible dinner, and we looking for coffee and dessert. This place was open, the cappuccino and hot chocolate were superb, and they had a nice selection of desserts. We almost didn't walk in because of the name...we thought it was a bar, when it was more like a cafe in the states. We had the tiara masu and apple flan....wow. I swear they tasted fresh, homemade, and by someone who loves to bake....absolutely fantastic. And the place wasnt so crowded like the clubs nearby....so there was no wait either. Comfortable atmosphere.
D. T.
A really great coffee is served here from a classic hand operated espresso machine. Open 24 hours with some outdoor seating available. Can't comment on the food, but they're coffee is great. Not the cheapest, but worth it.
A. M.
The original and the best. Londoners have been coming here for decades to seek out the very best coffee in all of London town.
Fight for a table outside or cosy up to the high bar seating inside in this perfect time capsule of 50s Italy.
R. M. M.
A unique experience, with hand-pulled espresso. Despite the name the staff are all Portuguese and are fill the place with good humoured banter. Interior decor is layer on historic layer, with a wonderful patina and atmosphere. I love this place and always get my coffee here when in the area.
r.
Not sure why some people are saying overpriced?
Went for an after dinner coffee with some friends who had come over from Italy. 5 espressos were only £11. No different to any other coffee bar except these were far better tasting.
Never knew the first HD TV transmission was shown there back in 2005.
W. H.
A Soho landmark that sells outstanding coffee. Make sure you pay them a visit instead of one of the ghastly chains. Discover what real coffee tastes like at the same time as surrounding yourself with a piece of Soho history. Fabulous in every way.
R. G.
This place is quirky, like a tiny piece of Italy in the heart of the busy London town.
It can be a bit pricey, but it is worth it every penny.
Waiting staff is friendly and the service they offer is great.
There is some outside seating and smoking area.
Facilities were compact, adequate and clean.
The bar is step free.
It is a great place to share a bit of italian culture with the rest of the family.
It is within walking distance from Tottenham Court Road, Oxford Circus, Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square underground stations. With plenty buses running along Shaftesbury Avenue.
The bar is located inside the Congestion Charge area. Street parking is very expensive and limited.
E. B.
It's always so busy around here, and yet service is very prompt. I love the coffee - aromatic espresso that along with the scrumptious meals and charming atmosphere makes you feel almost as if you were sitting in a small, tucked away street in Rome or Venice. The place has a long history to boast and is a must to visit when out and about in Soho. The owners and staff are doing a great job in keeping its reputation.
R. S.
Great coffee and excellent for late night food (evidently a good final destination for many on a night out in Soho). Can cater to veggies/vegans. Staff are pretty friendly, music eclectic and the place itself is steeped in history. A real piece of Italy in the heart of London.
S. D.
This bar offers some good Italian cakes. Prices are average, the staff is ok and the coffee average too. Nice central position. It's not a special place to go to, but it's not too bad either! Space inside is a little bit limited, keep that in mind.
B. C. S.
A legend in its own considerable lifetime, the family-run Bar Italia in Soho is the closest London gets to a typical, Italian espresso bar, which is probably why I like it so much. The espresso alone is reason enough to come here. It is, for me, pretty much perfect. Strong, very short, smooth and with just a hint of bitterness in the after taste: I really can’t imagine improving on it in any way.
Looking at the lever-action espresso machine and an old-fashioned mechanical till that would make Arkwright’s till in “Open All Hours” look modern, I can believe that Bar Italia has remained pretty much the same since it first opened in 1949.
S. S.
Bar Italia has been in London since the 1920s and it is almost 66 years old. It has a rich heritage and is respected and loved by all. I found it a place to have a coffee in the afternoon at 4pm and then after clubbing at 4am. I think I've never seen it closed actually. The staff are jovial, friendly and it's always full of life. People meet here, they talk to strangers and make new friends.
K. P. (.
Service here is great: we had menus within seconds of seating ourselves at an outdoor table, but were never rushed to pay or pressured into ordering more coffee/food. I never went inside so can't comment on the decor, but the seats outside are flush with the wall so you've got a perfect spot for people watching (which is always fun in Soho!) and the awning above kept us dry when it started to rain. Expect a proper coffee at a good price.
R. L.
The coffee is dreadful and hugely overpriced, and the service almost comically bad. What you're really paying for here is a great people-watching spot in a cafe with a uniquely long and venerable history. For that, it's just about worth it.
M. A.
Fantastic coffee and great for people watching! You can sit in or outside at any time of the day. The atmosphere changes; everyone form early risers and nighthawks are catered for. The decor is the original 1950s so the bar has an authentic retro feel. Bar Italia is family run and to me has much more personality than an "chain" cafe.
M. N.
Iconic London Italian cafe. Apart from large screen TV it feels like time stood still and not much has changed for decades. One other thing: Price of large cappuccino of £4.00 is a bit expensive hence 4 stars and not 5.
f. l.
This is the original Italian coffee place in London. Coffee is very good and cannoli is delicious. It is always busy and crowded and the coffee is expensive but you get what you pay for.
G. h.
Very good atmosphere and great coffee......still as good as 20 years ago.
GTP.
N. A.
Have a chat in Italian with the barman, drink an espresso coffee like those made on Italy, feel like you are in Milan or Rome with friendly people around. Take it easy here, the only traditional Italian coffee shop in Soho.
T. A.
Best espresso outside Italy.
Stop and have one, you know it makes sense. It's a genuine Italian cafe, but in London.. so there are arguably better English cafes, probably with decent coffee, but this gets maximum points for realness.
K. A.
Great place & still family run. One of the iconic places left in Soho with a wealth of history , some of which can be seen in the decor.
Really good proper coffee and friendly service
G. K.
Bar Italia is not a coffee shop, its a Soho institution. Amazing cappuccinos and other delights provide a thirst quenching break or just a place to hangout after a late night out.
Friendly staff and great atmosphere cement this place as one of the top coffee places in London
J. F.
Superb caffé latté, followed by a good croissant, and then a cappuccino. All good!
L. J.
Just like being in a city espresso bar in Italy. Panini are the real deal and their espresso is of very decent quality. If you like that sort of thing then you can get it here and it will be as good as 90% of the Italian (actually in Italy, I'm not saying they're not Italians because they most definitely are) Caffè bars
K. D.
I've never been to Italy - the country I mean, but after visiting this place, I go around bragging I've had the best espresso in Italia because, well, technically I have. I visited bar Italia and I sipped on some ridiculously good coffee and I did it the Italian way - in a tiny cup, standing at the bar. No large mugs and additives and spices. Okay, so now that I have 'Get a taste of Italy' checked off my list, I can spend my savings for a holiday abroad on those shoes, right?
A. G.
If you can make
An order
Could you get me one?
Two sugars would be great
'Cause I'm fading fast
And it's nearly dawn
(Pulp 1995)
A. P.
Feels like Italy. Amazing little joint with quite possibly the best espresso in London
J. H.
I rather like Bar Italia, mainly for the ambience/decor. Whilst I'm sure some Italians would disagree, it does in my opinion evoke the atmosphere of these kinds of cafe/bar places in Italy. I quite like the coffee too, although it seems a bit expensive compared to other places - £2.20 for an espresso. Especially when you consider at these kinds of places in Italy it's almost always 1 euro.
A. L.
No soho night is complete without a coffee here
T. M.
Lovely family-run espresso bar run as if it was in Italy. Interesting crowd, friendly hosts and excellent coffee makes it well worth a visit. Plus you'll be humming Pulp songs for the rest of the day...
N. G.
I have been going here ever since I came to London in 1996 this places has super funny staff members. Always joking and laughing. If you speak Italian you will feel at home. Great fresh panini and traditional desserts. Even Portuguese "Pasteis de Nata " and Cannolli 😍😍😍
If you don't enjoy a 1 sip espresso please remind the signori that you want a fuller cup as you will get a true espresso italian way 🙇♂️
K. G.
Great little italian cafe which has been there for many years. The spaghetti is proper italian and they have cannoli which is amazing. Excellent service very friendly
A. H.
Great TV if you get a view but the hosts are all Italian born and bred . Feels like you are outside London. Good for midday tipple
L. M.
The best coffee I've ever had, hands down. Always a welcoming and lively atmosphere. Late at night the pizza is heaven sent.
D. F.
Perched near a corner of Frith St in Soho this is one of Anthony Bourdain’s favourite places to go sit with a coffee (outside ideally) and watch London life go by. Which is good enough for me. And it does a damn good coffee at that.
M. S.
If you want to have worlds best cappuccino, bar italia is the right place. it s rich history ids also a point of interest. the coffee achine used there is as old as the cafe, that is 49 years old. drop in for a good coffee and smiling and friendly staff.
tip: get the seat out side if the weather is nice
A. J.
This place has somewhat of a reputation as serving the greatest coffee in the universe. Not sure I'd agree but it's pretty good and if it's not too crowded and you're fiending for a caffeine fix then you could do far worse.
R. M.
Classic historic Italian cafe in Soho, now so much better for outdoor seating
C. B. C.
Great pizza and coffee, wonderful for taking in the Soho atmosphere. Would recommend for a drink and lunch during a shopping trip
M. J.
Where all the broken people go
S. K.
This place has been here for decades. Coffee is very good and not to be compared to the other local coffee chains. After a heavy night at Ronnie Scotts over the road a flat white here is just heaven.
B. T.
Discover what real coffee tastes like at the same time as surrounding yourself with a piece of Soho history. Fabulous in every way.
A. G.
Facilities were compact, adequate and clean. The bar is step free.
It is a great place with a bit of Italian culture.
P. M.
An ideal place to meet friends before going into Ronnie Scott's club and I usually end the night there for a coffee before heading off to the night bus. The staff are always friendly.
A. W.
if you need a proper wake me up coffee ,bar italia is the place.
Its longlevity says a lot ,many local stores have come and gone but BI keeps on going!
R. S.
This is a properly traditional Italian cafe. With real Italians who tend to give you an unfriendly look when you walk in. It's a nice place and if you like cycling paraphernalia and people shouting at Italian football matches this is your heaven.
B. W.
Historical and full of Soho charm of an evening. My go-to Soho takeaway place. Also the best panini's in London!
L. P.
One of the most truly Italian places in London. You will be served by professional Italian waiters dressing in vest and white shirt. The decoration is very retro; like the place was stuck in the 50s. I recommend ordering Aperol Spritz.
D.
Amazing espresso 😁
M. C.
I been in this place So many time, this is a true Italian old bar located in soho.
If you are in the area you should go there fore a coffee.
C. I. A.
Fabulous, a real, proper Italian coffee bar, so Sixties but so up to date. Lovely food lovely coffee and friendly staff. I could (and have ) sat here for hours watching the world go by.
K. G.
Bar Italia is an essential part of Soho. Perfect for a proper coffee for a quick evening catch-up with friends and great for people-watching. Make sure you tip so they can ding their bell!
S. G.
Popped in here for a cake and coffee, managed to get a table ,saw they were still doing paninis ,so we shared one and shared a very tasty lemon cheesecake with two good coffees, very authentic Italian bar ,all the staff we spoke to spoke Italian as there first language, we left a tip and was greeted with a chorus of grazie from all the staff, prego.
P. P.
Sicilian coffe is really strong with strong taste and strong character 🦾🦾🦾🦾miscela d’oro
G.
Its the best coffee in London made from one of the oldest coffee machines in the city, the place has been there for 40 plus years... run by the same family headed up by Nino and his family, open 24 hours a day.. sit outside and watch the world go by.... Perfect!....
if you want frothy shxt coffee go to Starbucks or Costa...
D. B.
The Coffee is seriously good, with the classic roasted Italian flavour. However, it's rather expensive for one cup, setting you back around £5.
F. R.
Been in London as long as I have. Very Nice, I know Paul for many many years and by far the best coffee in London. Had some very very nice times here
D. M.
Lost its way a bit. Had a buzz years ago before other coffee shops popped up. Bit run down and tired. Staff a bit brusk and just not the same as it was years ago. Nothing stays the same forever I suppose. Worth a visit though to see for yourself.
D. P.
One of the most iconic places in Soho. Specially recommended if you are looking for a great coffee or the best chicken panini in town.
It's open pretty much 24h
L. G.
Decent coffee, an unpretentious old Soho establishment that's open until late. Cash only and don't expect fancy table service, but the espresso is great.
J. H.
Elegant service, exquisite food
J. B.
Great coffee and fresh cannoli with no messing around. This is a pillar of London and should be treated with respect. Can be quite cosy but nice to sit outside.
D. S.
Just a perfect place. I don't normally drink coffee but the stuff from this place is irresistible.
L. M. G.
Best Place of London! If is too late to eat or drink, they are open and easygoing. I felt like to be inside a movie 🤣 amazing!!! ❤🌟🙌🏻
F.
Really does look like an old-days Italian bar and their espresso is nice as you would expect!
T. H.
Best coffee in London, if not the world!
D. C.
Nice little cafe with very tasty pastries and cakes. A nice break in the day to stop for a coffee and a treat. The staff are friendly and attentive.
A. L.
Great coffee, eclectic mix of customers. Perfect. I've been coming here now for over 20 years.
M. C.
The original and still great, steeped in history, still providing original Italian fare. Only downside is loud out of place modern pop when right music will complement the atmosphere.
D. C.
Great coffee, Lovely awesome sweet treats. Very busy sometimes.
M. H.
Been coming here on and off for decades, yet last time a coffee was ordered it never got delivered. Service needs serious improving.
C.
When you are celebrating 65 years in business you can ask for cash only. Also no silly nut milk fads just traditional full fat milk.
K. M.
A truly Italian style coffee, if that’s what you’re looking for.
V. A.
You know you step into a part of London's history when you are here. All menu items are true to their legacy. Not accepting credit is a turn off, but if you think about it... it makes sense...
C. W. S.
I don’t know what the fuss is all about
O. F.
Some of the best coffee you can have in london
F. B.
Opened in 1948 this is a must go to coffee place in Soho, run by the same family for all this time and 24 hours! Always really busy and quick service! It is just great!
J. T.
If they knocked down this place it'd still look much better than you... Good coffee, not quite living up to the hype though, excellent opening hours
A. M.
Amazing place! Was here 5 years ago for the first time, did not regret being here today! Bon appetite! P.s. card payments above £10 only.
J. R.
It's my happy place - signifies the start of a night out in the West End. Superb coffee and the history of the place seeps in. Fabulous place to people-watch, which in London is a must!
B. T.
The best Panini in town. We love Bar Italia for late bites and after midnight coffees.
G. M.
Always try to go here when I'm in London. As other reviews have said it's mainly for the ambience. Remember having a fantastic coffee and cake here at about 3.00am, sitting outside and watching the world go by.
s. r.
Always always go here when in London ❤
G. D.
Authentic. Atmospheric. Friendly. Peroni defo London price! But when in Rome.....
K. D.
Expensive very very expensive. An Americana and a orange sanpellgrino £6. The new seat covers and size of seat inside are horrible, what happened to the classic red small.
P. D.
How they manage to make a community feel in the middle of soho, I'll never know. What a place!!
G. S.
An original coffee shop in the centre of London. Interesting and quirky with nice staff. The coffee is quite expensive, but good.
E. F.

Iconic bar in the heart of Soho. Coffee is fresh from ground and always tastes good. service is quick and friendly every time.
M. S.
Classic Italian coffee bar - unchanged for decades - great coffee - go there and then go to the brilliant Ronnie Scott's!
J. D.

MY favourite coffee place to go. One of the best Italian coffee I have come across.
S. S.
Delicious food, but mind the tourist trap !
If you eat inside, you get the a-la-carte menu. ASK for pizza, it's not on the menu by default.
S. W.
A Soho institution. Fantastic independent cafe, wonderful alternative to the bar and coffee chains. Friendly staff, open around the clock.
N. M.
Been going for 25 years

This is the real Mac coy... Not a modern pastiche

Love this place and the people that work here. Very good friendly service, and a lovely food and drinks, thank you all xx highly recommend
i. r.
Overrated cafe, especially overpriced cakes and prices aren't cheap, it should have £££ tag as for sure it's not the cheap place. A cake that's nothing special about it 4.20£...
N. S.
very authentic italian bar with great pizzas and sandwiches. definitely worth a try. the music is quite good too.
D. L.
Great old fashioned coffee bar, just as it would have been in the 60's.

Let's go'
