Reviews of Bear + Wolf

This is a great cafe and very family friendly with a back room full of toys for kids to enjoy while the adults enjoy all thr delicious food on offer. This is one of the best bacon sandwiches I've had. Will definitely be returning
D. M. K.
Lovely coffee shop with friendly staff and amazing coffee. Great for a sit down on their communal tables for a sandwich and coffee with a friend or family. Solid tasting coffee and good beans used
A. E.
Recommended for families, the playroom kept my toddler entertained for a long time. I also really enjoyed the house salad with smoked tofu - good portion size too.
L. F.
Cannot recommend more this lovely cafe, Fab food, super healthy, well presented, taste delicious. There is a back room for children to play at with a good selection of toys for young kids. Staff was smiley and helpful and i wanted to try the whole menu. Came on a weekday morning and was nice and quite. Will try again over the weekend, hopefully wont be too busy.
C. B.
We love the kids area in the back - a few different toys, a not too small space, nice and clean.
We also appreciate the home made quality food and great service.

Tufnell Park is a very handy place! Although this area doesn’t have that “high street” feel, it offers many excellent bars, pubs and restaurants which are dotted around the area. And I found a suitable coffee shop for digital nomads family to stay.

Seating: There are 4 big communal tables with benches in the front area, and there are some sweet baby highchairs beside each table. They have a small garden with colourful bistro chairs.
Charging Spots: Yes
Bathroom: One for Unisex, one for baby changing
Ambience: Apparently, it looks like a very normal cafe with large wooden communal tables, industrial decor and a open kitchen, but when you look a little closer to the little things, you will find it different…colourful kid-proof bowls and cereal jars, kids’ size menu, the buggy parking area, a children’s playroom with different kinds of toys and books, a baby changing room, and even an small and cute backyard with sweet colours.
Staff Friendliness: Very nice, patient, smiley and efficient.
Cost:
Coffee £2-£3.5
Tea £1.75-£2.50
Juices & Smoothies £1.25-£5.0
Food £2.0-£10.25
Kids £1.50-£5.50
PS: Lunch is served until 5pm
Something Special About the Cafe:
All the details for parents with kids.
Problems:
It might be very crowded and chaotic on weekends, especially with buggy parking area inside;
The space for babies and kids can be a little bit upgraded and more clean, as well as more regulated;
The internet is not good.

So happy that a place like this exists! Great coffee and food, quiet and cosy space where you can hide with a laptop, while at the same time spacious enough to come with a group of friends. But my favourite bit is that there is a dedicated children area with nice toys and a lot of books for various ages. They even have a dress up box with a few costumes. My children hardly wanted to go home.
P. D.
Great place if you have kids. Some times you won’t have no where to put your push chairs as it gets so busy on the week but the food is great and coffee brilliant.
Y. B.
Felt welcome in the (very) family friendly coffee shop! Decent brew and cake while the kiddies enjoyed the playroom, thanks 🙏🏻
R. F.
Amazing little cafe very close to Tufnell Park Station. The coffee is good but the food is even better - the Moroccan spiced tomato soup (in the picture, can't remember if this was the right name) was out of this world. As other comments point out, this isn't much of a working space as much as a family space - there's even a room for kids down the back. Tufnell Park tends to be a more residential area of London anyway.

Ordered on Deliveroo and also left a review there as I'm so impressed. I'm vegan and often find it tricky to eat out and get good tasting, fresh food but these guys nailed it!! Absolutely delicious food and really love the sourdough bread they use for sandwiches and their vegan almond croissant is divine. I can tell lots of love and attention has gone into their menu as it caters to everyone. Well done guys, your food and service is amazing X
A. P.
Great salty food, and perfect to grab a coffee with a friend while the kids are playing. Lots of toys and a little outdoor when It is sunny
D. B.
Fabulous sausage roll and milkshake, chilled out vibe with friendly staff, spot on.
J. P.
Lovely little spot in Tufnell Park. Great coffee and cakes. Highly recommend the Ultimate Bacon!!
A. V.
Lovely cafe to come with your mummy friends & kids, they have a nice selection of toys and an outside garden space.
Service is good and the food and coffees are very nice.
A. S.
Local spot, wonderful staff (Melissa!!) and fantastic coffee. Can’t ask for anything more!
A. A.
Good quality coffee and food, however they are so operationally poor that almost every visit I've had has left me feeling frustrated - even when I preorder ahead of time.
Expect to wait at least 10-15 for an order. I once ordered two coffees ahead of time and arrived to collect, but my coffees weren't ready (which is understandable). As I waited however, another customer ordered two coffees and they were served before I was!
Finally, some staff are friendly, but others (the owners?) treat you like a nuisance - which certainly doesn't help.
r. s.
Gorgeous egg and avocado sandwich, left an afterglow, genuinely feeling serotonin from this sandwich, amazing! I'd give 10 stars if I could
O. H.
The best local cafe on the high street. Very family oriented but also great for a good caffeine fix to set you up for the day. Staff are always lovely and it offers a great food menu with a huge range of vegan mains and sweet treats.
S. K.
The first time I tried the Nutella doughnut and mocha milkshake it was great! Sadly the second time I had the doughnut it was so hard and there was a hardly any Nutella in there. Also, not sure if it’s good value for money.
K. W.
Cosy outside area and friendly service. Was £5 for a regular size smoothie, seems expensive but no different to other areas in London. Only thing I'd say is that it's very child friendly (there's a playroom used by lots of mothers and toddlers next to the main seating area), seems perfect for families but I didn't expect it from just looking inside. Wouldn't recommend if you want a quiet few hours.
A. L.
Loved it! This place was outstanding from the food to the service/play area. To others who reviewed, it is a kid friendly cafe for a reason, therefore, there will be mummies/kiddies/prams. Coffee was great and I felt like I could have stayed there all afternoon and they wouldn't have mind. My son is just starting to sit up so the owner/worker brought over a jumbo seat for him without me even asking for it. The play area is so big and bright and has a changing area/toilet connected. I have told all of my mum friends about it and we plan to make the journey up from Angel to have a nice afternoon.
W. K.
Nice little cafe. Does a very tasty tuna melt with lemon zest in it. The smoothies are good too, but quite expensive at around £5 each.
Very child friendly, with a little play area towards the back
C. W.
Probably not a good place for a quiet coffee but definitely a fantastic place to come with kids / babies. Very family friendly and there's even a big okay area at the back. Plenty of baby seats and child-friendly utensils and cups.
The food can be slow sometime but it's always delicious.
C. C.
Great little find on our trip to London. Toys and a great selection of books to entertain the children in the back room with space for parents to sit and watch them. The food was delicious and so nice to get healthy delicious food when travelling. Highly recommend; we made a tube trip specially from the centre and weren't disappointed.
N. S.
Good food, reasonable price, and good coffee and tea. The venue's attraction is its children's play area stocked with toys and books. Thus, very popular with local families that have young ones. We often come here on the weekend for brunch while the kids play.
It can get quite humid. And the bacon smoke, family noise, and crowd of kids means it isn't exactly calm. Also the wifi can be intermittent. But overall, highly recommended.
L. M.
Ordered on deliveroo. Amazing food and drink. Thank you
J. H.
Very nice cafe. But be warned (or encouraged) it is completely geared towards mothers and kids. The buggy parking and kids play area take up half the cafe. This is not a place to work or read - without good earplugs or headphones at least. Great brunch though.
J. P.
Good concept , It is the best place to bring your kids for brunch, the have option nice options for kids and adults. Personally I didn't love it just because I was with a friend and wasn't the perfect environment for us but we did appreciate the idea for moms, dads and the little ones. Good coffee and good food.
B. B.
The quality of the rolls and cakes is very high. One of the best places for a cafe treat in London.
M. S.
Perfectly poached eggs, crisp bacon, served by friendly, polite, lovely staff.
A. E.
Was amazing and a great place to go and hang out. Our kids had so much fun and their menu was great. Met only two friendly parents as most were big snubs or I hate to admit racists or classist at the very least. which for a great kids venue is unfortunate. I am giving 5* because they venue and experience was amazing and they could not legislate for the views of their clientele.
J. M.
Nice enough place, but if you are a lone adult (especially one trying to get work done ) it's probably best to go elsewhere. This is basically for parents and kids, so it can be kind of chaotic. The food is good, but frequently takes forever and you leave the place smelling really smokey (ventilation?!).
D. l.
The perfect place for brunch on the weekend, try the ultimate halloumi/bacon and you’ll never look back. Great coffee and really good pastries/cakes. Be warned there is a crèche in the back so children/babies aplenty and will be heaving come 11am so prepare to wait for your food.
E. T.
Fantastic staff and service. Coffee is really good quality and there is a great, simple brunch menu.
Very child friendly with kids menus, a separate kids play area, high chairs and an outdoor patio.
A. M.
Great coffee, delicious food and juices, and amazing play room! My kid did not want to leave!
R. E.
Super friendly staff in a nice café. A place i can highly recommend if you want to go with your kids because they have an extra room where children can play. The coffee is good aS well and the food looks nice.
C.
Good local trendy cafe. As it's kids friendly with a play area round the back, there are lots of prams and stylishly dressed parents hanging about. We bought a 250g of coffee bag of coffee beans which was very expensive @ £9.50. Otherwise, everything else was reasonably priced for this type of establishment (e.g. croissant for £1 to eat in)
L. C.
The food is awesome and there's good amount of space to sit, eat and buggy space. However, the baby/kids play area could use a bit of an upgrade or clean. The fact that it exists is such a nice treat for the area!
C. D.
Lovely food, great atmosphere and space for kids at all of the tables. Plus the room at the back provides a great space for letting the little ones roll around for a bit while you relax with your coffee and cake!
C. G.
Lovely design cafe, family oriented. There is a kid's room and even a small yard at the back for them to play, lots of toys and books. Nice selection of cakes and pastries, even beautiful breads and juices made on demand. Perfect stop!
T. P.
Having a lazy Sunday dessert craving. Found the Pasteis De Nata Raspberry & the Vegan Biscoff Cheesecake and HOLY MOLY was there a party in my mouth. It may be Fix Up Feb but I have ZERO regrets. YUMMMM 😻
J. H.
Facing the inevitability that hipster coffee shops ultimately become magnets for yummy mummies and filled with buggies, this Tufnell Park cafe seems to have accepted its fate, and from the outset has grabbed the bull by the horns (or perhaps the bear+wolf by the ears).
If you have kids, particularly toddlers, you'll probably be delighted to find a cafe designed specifically with you in mind - a kids menu, good baby changing facilities, a buggy parking area and most importantly a large play room at the back full of toys and children's books. It also has a bright and cheery decor.
If you don't have kids (or even if you do have kids, but despise other people's), the back half of this cafe may well be a vision of hell, but the coffee and food offerings are actually very good. In fact, recently I have been here more times by myself than with my daughter (the playroom is probably most appealing to 0 to 3 year olds I would guess, my daughter is now 4).
The halloumi breakfast roll is excellent. I know it's not technically a burger, but this is in honesty the best veggie burger like entity I've had anywhere in a cafe/restaurant. Perfectly grilled halloumi, avocado, a bit of salad, and some really tasty sauce in a bun which is itself nicely grilled and very tasty. It holds together well, has some great textures, and feels like a great trade off between indulgent and healthy. Also I really enjoy their version of avocado on toast - they avoid smashing it as other places do, and to be honest I prefer my avocado unmashed. Also I liked that they refer to it using the full four syllables. The accompanying salad is intelligently dressed and always very flavoursome.
Coffee is also decent. Staff are very nice.
J. H.
I cannot emphasize enough how highly I rate the ultimate halloumi brioche from this place. I dream about it sometimes. I honestly would urge everyone to go here and order it. The cucumber water vases are a nice touch too.
One thing worth noting - if you don't like kids, this is not the place for you. I tolerate them because the ultimate halloumi brioche is so delicious. It's not that I don't like children - but they're often a bit shouty and I tend to like a chill in a cafe.
C. P.
Good tofu sandwich.
Place for a family breakfast or lunch with a small indoor and outdoor play area for kids. It caters for parents with young children. Staff are friendly and the broadband is fast. If I had children I d visit it more often.
J. I.
Our family love this place! Great smoothies, food, coffee... you name it they ace it. Perfect for kids but equally had business meetings there too as not noisy.
B. C.
Amazing food, both sweet and savoury. We ordered on deliveroo and had to order two days in a row because it was that good.
S. K.
The food is nice but can't justify some of the prices!
E. L.
Best place to spend your Sunday morning with children. We come almost every week. Fantastic food and good playroom that will keep them busy. Anyone looking for a quiet place or who can't bear children should go elsewhere. The logo is a teddy bear after all...
A. R.
The coffee here is fantastic, but unfortunately it's family style seating and therefore intolerable. There are more yummy mummies here than in the tufnell park tavern, which one hardly thought possible. At least four of the children are called Tarquin.
I've never had a worse croissant.
M. G.
Very child & family focused cafe. So i am not really their clientele. The coffee is decent & i like the big communal tables that encourage socialisng or a sense of warmth. Can be very noisy at the weekends
J. J. S.
Fantastic addition to Tufnell Park. The brunch options are very tasty, I really liked the potato and spring onion waffles with poached eggs and chorizo on top.
The coffee is from Ozone so a bit darker than what I normally like but they have good baristas that can pull decent espressos and very tasty cappuccinos and flat whites.
The place is designed with parents in mind so there's a buggy party space and a play room at the back. For the non-parents, like me, that means the front of the shop is nice and quiet so it's a win-win situation.
B. B.
Except for appalling WiFi this is a great cafe!
Bacon, avocado, cherry tomato and Tabasco on sourdough. Combined with its side salad., a slightly sweet toasted pine nut sprinkled dressing...
Bring it on!
Good coffee.
S. E.
The bacon rolls are out of this world and it is amazing for babies and toddlers. Just need an alcohol license and would give them 6 stars (kidding!) Don't go to this place leave it for the locals! 😅
I. P.
Lovely cafe to go to with kids. The playroom in the back is great and allow you to have a coffee or smoothie while watching kids play. Friendly staff.
S. C.
Lovely, lively neighbourhood cafe. Well geared up for kids, but we came here without and had some excellent food sitting by the big front window on a sunny bank holiday. Excellent!
A. A.
Ling table made it hard to eat whilst sitting with others. Very busy and lots of children in for an event. Worth checking this before visiting. That said... Great food and reasonable pricing!
R. C.
Love it here, and they've done a great job keeping things moving this past year. Love my weekend walks for the ultimate bacon roll 😍
A. H.
Very good food and coffee.
However the place needs a decent extractor fan; the open plan kitchen sends fat into the air and my clothes smelt of fat after leaving.
Also beware the buggies...
Y. P.
Nice cafe with the play area for the little ones.
Food served with kids in mind. Special menu and plates.
Cozy seating area.
Good coffee and food options
C. C.
Great coffee and a brilliant brunch.
G. S.
Nice place for kids, there's a play room at tge back with many toys and books, children canspend an hour there easily. Good choice of food and drinks, but bring your sweetener from home!
N. B.
Firstly, I'd like to make it clear that the food and coffee at Bear and Wolf is borderline faultless. The haloumi roll in particular is probably one of the best things I have eaten in recent years, and I'm not even vegetarian. Likewise, the coffee is delicious when served promptly.
However, the lack of stars refers to a) the service and b) the chaotic, noisy atmosphere.
The service, despite being a wonderfully friendly and helpful, feels very disorganised. Drinks have always arrived once we've finished our food, which is annoying. I have, on occasion, noticed our coffees sitting, waiting on the worktop and eventually arrive at our table cooler than hoped and looking quite sunken (if they bought a call bell for coffee service this problem would be solved).
Their system of calling out people's names for food/coffee also falls on (almost literally) deaf ears given the noise levels emitted by the dozens of miniature, leaky humans screaming around the place. On several occasions, servers have wandered around with a couple of bacon sandwiches, looking lost and shouting 'Tarquin? TARQUIN?!' over the rabble; and finding no one. I understand that its a haven for local parents, but jesus, does it get noisy!
V. S.
Several coffee houses to choose in this area.So happy I choose this one great coffee and cake. Nice play are for your kids . Lovely friendly staff.
M. N.
Decent coffee and food in a typically trendy setting. What sets them apart is how accommodating of children they are. Seems to be a popular haunt for local parents and with good reason.
M. F.
Really good space to go to of you have a child. The play area is big and there are plenty of toys and books. The coffee is also great!
J. G.
I ordered on deliveroo and my oh my, what a delight! Everything I ordered was fantastic! Maps'd where it is so I can pop by for brunch. Lovely!
S. D.
Great little cafe. Family friendly with a play room. Good selection of light refreshments coffee tea and juice. A good vibe.
A. C.
Nice place for brunch. Good coffee and poached eggs with bacon/salmon. Family friendly with speedy service
c. t.
Kids friendly , cosy , very busy in the morning . A great place to grab a coffee and enjoy a nice slow breakfast . Coffee is great and food as well. The only down point is a bit pricy.
J. C.
Love the coffee here but the fact that it constantly smells of bacon and the combination of the weird open kitchen set up & screaming children often deter me from spending quality time here.
A. H.
Absolutely love the place. The staff is friendly, food and coffee (from Ozone) are delicious and if you avoid the busy times in weekend mornings the place is relatively quiet as well.
V. M.
Wonderful local cafe that this area needed so much - great coffee, great food, lively vibe and the play room! A great place with or without kids.
L. H.
Decent coffee and nice mugs, as other reviews say very kid friendly, good if you're a parent, less if you're enjoying a quiet drink
L. F.
It has an excellent range of sweet and savory delights as well as great juice. But be warned it is rather expensive.
K. B.
Best coffee in the area, best brioches in north london.
Great staff, good for families and a remarkable consistency of great food
A. S.
Great place for brunch and coffee. Perfect for folks with children, as they have a play room.
B. L.
The best coffee in the area IMO, excellent staff and service, plus the Bacon/ Avocado brioche is spoken about in hushed tones by those in the know.
J. L.
Wonderful cafe for families. Great drinks and food and so kid friendly they have a play room in the back!
M. M.
Great cafe aimed at young mums and babies. Has a dedicated play area and a pram park. Interesting snack menu.
L. D.
As a 43 year old Architect I found the cafe delightful the streaky bacon sandwich the best I've ever tasted and the staff fantastic. Will make this my local when in town.
Best Lee
C. J.
Delicious food at typical slightly-expensive London prices. Very popular with local families so expect to see lots of toddlers on your visit.
N. M.
Great coffee..it can get scary at weekends. Sandwiches are meant to be fabulous, staff a pretty amazing and colourful bunch.
R. G.
Good coffee, my waffles were a little disappointing due to no cinnamon cream! But eggs on a previous visit were very tasty!
A. S.
The best staff, food and hot drinks, Lesley makes the smoothest coffee <3333
J. “. B.
Food is delicious made with good quality ingredients. Good, modern cafe. Child friendliness makes it not great for everyone.
J. S.
Coffee, delicious food and somewhere for the little to play? Yeah. That's a 5*.
E. A.
My favourite coffee shop in tufnell park! Their coffee is delicious and so are their cakes. Lemon polenta is my favourite.
S. S.
Healthy and tasty. A bit above the average price of the neighbourhood but it's worth going cause the quality of the food is also above the average :)
K. A.
Great coffee, great service! Keep in mind it can get a little hectic and it's popular for young families
L. L.
I highly recommend their bacon brioche.
S. G.
Great food and excellent play area for kids. Toilet even has a step and toilet seat for kids. They've thought of everything!
M. C.
Hands down the best breakfast place in London, and therefore the world. Just be prepared for the high volume of small children.
O. P.
Good coffee, great for little ones with the party area at the back, and that do an excellent breakfast range to do.
F. B.
Food service took ages.. Looks like they're pretty inexperienced, although barista was bang on... Unless you're a yummy mummy or 4 years old... Pick up a coffee and eat in costa
B. B.
Great coffee ! Clean friendly environment, didn't eat but menu looked great!
W. T.

Nice coffee. The polenta cake it.is one of the best I ever tried.

So funny to read the comments about the yummy mummies The day I was there the mothers were making much more noise than their children talking loudly and generally trying to dominate Despite this I'd go again
A. C.
Coffee was good, food I ordered was not really worth the wait
B. B.
Quite often come here for a coffee with friends - fresh, strong and fairly priced
