Reviews of Birds Hill Coffee Southwark
This place is the absolute best for grabbing some coffee and a pastry/toastie when on the go.
Order the mocha and thank me later.
The guy behind the counter (sorry, I'm bad with names) was incredibly friendly and offered some suggestions (I prompted) for us, as we were tourists in London.
This is one of the things we will sorely miss now that we're back in the States =/
If we make it back to London in the future, you can bet I'll look up Birds Hill Coffee again. Hopefully they have a chain empire at that point!
Great coffee, superb almond croissants...and a small, family owned business who we should all support.
This is one of my absolute favorite spots in London! Their coffee is simply the best! They roast their coffee right in the shop, so it’s always fresh and delicious. 😊
If you love the aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, this is your spot!!
I was served by a lovely barista and had a chat with boss, good atmosphere, great service and excellent coffee !!
Lovely little coffee shop. Good coffee and friendly staff. They also have sandwiches and snacks on sale.
Little independent roaster with exceptional coffee and the service is unmatched. First time here and I’ll be back soon!
Exceptional Coffee & very charming Barista, very small but cute!!!
The food is superb 👌 and the portions are very generous, I had the grilled chicken and it's was really nice
You can understand why there are queues all the time .
Easily the best coffee in the area. This place itself is tucked away in a quiet side street. Cool, local small shop with beans roasted on site. The coffee is fantastic every time. I usually go for a cappuccino or flat white, but everything is good. Highly recommended!
Always charmed by independent roasters, esp mini ones hidden in the city.
Cortado is strong, bitter with a little acidity but not much flavors.
So many interesting things at the corner. Would love to learn more about the coffee here though. Tiny space and busy barista.
Cute but not special enough for me to crave for another visit.
Had our morning cappucino at Birds Hill and we loved the Colombian coffee roast.
One of the best toasties and coffees I’ve had in london. Will definitely be coming here often.
Very nice little coffee shop with very good coffee! Non-dairy milk options available.
Oat flat white is great.
They also sell flowers.
Very friendly, warm and welcoming. Delicious hot chocolate. Would definitely go back.
Lovely little coffee shop - staff member was friendly and oatly flat white coffee was delicious
The coffee is astonishingly delicious - it is worth a trip here if you are a coffee snob. Single origin beans that rotate every two weeks. You won't know what you'll get... we had Papua New Guinea. Smallest on-site coffee roaster I've ever seen.
Tiny to-go coffee shop with plants and dried flowers for sale. Great coffee and a lovely atmosphere.
Coffee is superb! Roasted in-house. Staff is attentive and extremely friendly.
It’s not often you find independent coffee shops willing to take a shot at roasting their own coffee, it’s even rarer to find ones this tiny and charming! Had an amazing espresso from some of their brazilian beans and the taste was simply wonderful. The service was delightful and informative and the location is perfect to get some respite after some sightseeing. Fully recommended!
Had the BEST toastie of my life here. First thing I thought about when waking up the next day. Great music selection, and lovely plants on sale. My first ever review here because they deserve it.
Lovely independent coffee shop. Excellent Cortado with strong chocolate notes. Very friendly barista Ollie, who was also roasting their own beans in-house as we chatted. Will be back!
A great local indie coffee bar squirreled away in what looks like a garage near borough station. Perfect for a great coffee away from the crowds, with friendly staff and good pastries.
Best coffee in London! Lovely little coffee shop where they roast their own beans and sell plants and flowers. It's got a fab vibe, and I'm always greeted with a smile and a chat! Amazing coffee too 😊
If a coffee shop is listed on the European Coffee Trip app, then it's usually very, very good.
I had a pain au chocolat and a flat white, the coffee was perfect. Temperature, milk steaming, and flavour. Really nice strong coffee with floral notes and a good kick.
Great coffee. Columbian roast. The gentleman was so kind.
Amazing coffee, superb service from the lovely person behind the machine. She was so knowledgeable, enthusiastic about the beans they were using and had such great energy and patience despite all the coffee questions and it also getting quite busy in there with other customers.
Hard to believe as it's quite small inside but they roast the coffee onsite and if you happen to need any cute plants they were selling them there too!
Definitely worth a visit if you happen to be walking along the River Thames and fancy a little pitstop or visiting the Tate Modern.
Just stumbled across Birds Hill today on an errand. Wonderful coffee and a fantastic chat about the plants with the owner. It was so nice to have a warm welcome and to come home with much-needed plants for my kitchen. Totally unexpected and just what I needed. I will definitely be back if I’m in the area again and might even make a special trip just to say hi. Definitely worth popping in. Such a lovely little space!
Easily the best cup of coffee in the area, not sure I could’ve made it through my 10 week training course without one most days. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area.
5 out of 5 coffee and the staff/vibe of this small but charming coffee shop is perfect.
Constructive criticism is I think the sandwiches need a bit of oomph. Think I had the sun dried tomato and cheese which was more bread than filling.
Will keep coming back for the coffee but would love to see the sandwiches brought to the same level so I can go for lunch too!
Good coffee - milk not as smooth as I would hope, but a nice flavor and good beans.
Delicious coffee and snacks. Very lovely barista
Birds Hill Coffee in Southwark is an independent coffee shop that roasts their own coffee. The space is small with some seating outside, but feels cosy.
The latte I got was very good, and also a delicious croissant.
I sat down for a bit as the weather was nice and sunny, and noticed lots of people coming for their morning coffee. The barista seemed to know most people and stroke up nice conversations. It is overall a very friendly atmosphere and the coffee is made with love.
As someone on a diet, I was buzzin' to find a peng and refreshing option that fits my lifestyle. The green tea at Birds Hill Coffee Shop is the real deal, It's pure fire and keeps me on track with my goals. I'd recommend it to any looking for a healthy and tasty beverage.
This little gem is not much more than a hole in the wall with a couple chairs outside and a a few stools inside. But don't be fooled, these guys punch way above their size. They serve hands-down some of the best coffee along the long arc south of the river from Clapham to Maltby street. They small-batch roast on site and their coffee is fresher than Chalamet's red carpet looks. I work round the corner and have been thinking of quitting for months... Bird's Hill deserves my recruiters retention bonus...🤣
Great Latte. And they roast their own beans👍🏿
Our favourite local coffee shop. Excellent coffee with oat milk and friendly baristas!
This little laid back place is a hidden gem. Either as a cup on the go or as freshly roasted beans to take away, it always tastes great. I buy beans to brew Greek coffee at home...And the young lady behind the counter is kind enough to fine grind them on the spot for me. A five star rating is the least to say thank you.
If you want a thrilling coffee experience then Birds Hill Coffee is the place to go…! The service is amazing and the coffee itself is a ritual - you’ll never be served a bad cup ☕️
Welcoming and lovely coffee shop with a great taste of coffee. I loved my cup of cappuccino...sublime! Definitely will go back again :-)
Would I return? Definitely
- Coffee beans roasted freshly on site by owner every week.
- Really great coffee.
- cozy cafe with 2 tables outside
This is the kind of place I like to call triple G - Great coffee, Great guy, Great service!
Exceptional coffee / espresso and such a great little shop. Loved our visit today
Absolutely love this coffee shop! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, thanks in large part to the friendly staff and the welcoming owner. You can really feel the passion for coffee here, they roast their coffee on-site, and it makes a noticeable difference in flavour. Every cup is crafted with care, and it’s clear they value their customers. Highly recommend stopping by! 🫶🏼
Very friendly staff and very good coffee blend, ordered a double espresso and will be going back again!
I have been a customer of Birds Hill coffee for the past year, their products and plants are excellent.
Olly and his team are extremely pleasant, polite and helpful - the service has always been fantastic and visiting there brightens my day.
A great little coffee shop tucked away behind Borough. Friendly staff, great tasting coffee. Good selection of dairy free milk too. You can buy bags of the coffee they use here
I'm a long term resident in SE1 and this is by far the best coffee in the area. They roast the beans themselves on the premises. The coffee is the best I've had. Lovely family business.
From a Texan Review... What a cute and tiny coffee shop. A perfect stop for a cup of coffee on the way to Borough Market. I had the cappuccino with a dash of chocolate powder on top (something not very common in Texas). It was delicious!!
And "Ollie" (I hope I spelled that correctly), was the absolute warmest and welcoming barista I'd met the entire week there. Picked up a great chocolate protein bar from my mid-day snack needs as well.
Can't wait to come back!
Amazing flat white ☕️ and matcha latte! 🍵 the coffee beans are freshly toasted inside this tiny shop. They have great decaf and Oatly milk, also coconut Alpro. Very friendly. And nice to get a seat outside to sip our cuppa in the midst of the buzzing city. Highly recommend. Oh, and the vegan cinnamon bun is delish too!
Won’t beat this flat white around here. Only Rapha rivals this fella.
Owner run proper barista whose really pleasant to have a chat with too. Passionate about his business and you can taste that.
Highly recommend this coffee spot
5 stars for the flat white. My first cup of joe after I landed from New York. I’m so happy to start my day with a great cuppa.
Really good coffee. Some good flavour on the flat white. Not as smooth as you might come to expect from the strong third wave scene in London but still very good. I’d give it an 8.2.
