Reviews of Bread Ahead Bakery - The Southwark Cathedral Cafe
A. O.
The Southwark Cathedral Cafe is amazing. Cannot get enough of their cakes and pastries. My favourite is the sourdough bread and cinnamon buns! Would definitely recommend trying those when you go.

We had afternoon tea at The Southwark Cathedral Cafe when we visited London in 2018, and we can't wait to go back when we visit again this Christmas. The environment was quaint and quiet and the tea, sandwiches, scones and cake were just lovely. This place is a hidden gem, tucked near the Thames in a quiet alcove, creating a refuge from the busy city surrounding it. I also love the fact that the cafe supports keeping the cathedral open. Prices are modest and the food is wonderful. I highly recommend this cafe!

Great bakery to sit down and have brunch. Great selection of doughnuts, cakes and pastries as well as sandwiches, soups and other lunch menu items

Lovely Bread Ahead cafe bakery in a scenic location. Very cosy and a great spot to relax and have lunch or do a bit of work. Doughnuts, scones, coffees and sourdough bread sandwiches are all delicious

I have to say, I came in the cafe by accident while waiting for my friend. I only had coffee and haven't tried any of the delicious looking sandwiches, pies and cakes! Will come back again next time to try them.

What a great place ! We believe that this place and the area of Borough Market represent our view of old London.

Wonderful place to visit in London Bridge. The café is fantastic - Will provided us with excellent service and was super courteous & nice!

It actually turned out to be better than expected. The afternoon tea that we pre-booked was lovely. But it is just a cafe. Not a posh setting.
Clean and tidy and the sandwiches and cake were lovely.

Great view, nice atmosphere and good service, in particular a special thank you to Will for treating us so kindly.

My friend and I came here after a three hours walk and we were dying for some tea and scones. We arrived about 30 min before closing time but that was no problem. We each got our tea and scones and a good rest. We really liked the setting which made us feel quite at ease.

Great venue for meetings. Some power points available. Wide range of pastries and coffee. Full English breakfast. My favourite lunch is the sausage roll with a variety of side salads. Toilets are clean and easy to find. Prices reasonable. Highly recommend.
B. M.
Lovely afternoon to just sit at this cafe, very welcoming and tasty food

The square currently houses a Randox Covid testing unit. Results in 4 hours (usually less). Used them 4 times so far!

Very interesting food options. Worth a visit.
D. R.
Very interesting. Nice cafe with inside and outside seating. Nice clean toilet facilities.
M. K.
Lovely tea and pastries at a fair price. Only loses a star because I didn't much care for the look & atmosphere. The lighting is also a bit low, so not a great place to get work done.

I love this place and return here, time after time! Great for hot food on a winter's day and afternoon tea in the courtyard in the summer sun. The staff are friendly and the range of food is quite wide and affordable. The Gluten Free cake is scrummy and I also recommend the Orange and Lavender Cake, which sounds bonkers but very delicious.

Good food and a choice available in the setting of Southwark Cathedral. I have been several times, and go regularly. There is a good choice of vegetarian and non-veg food as well as salads. You can sit outside if the weather is nice in the courtyard by the river. Arrive before 1pm to get the best choice of food as they sometimes run out.

The food at the refectory is well worth seeking out - they have a good deal on soup and a filled roll for lunch. The cakes are fantastic - try the chocolate brownie or the lemon drizzle cakes! Baked potatoes are generous to say the least. Friendly staff, and free water.

Delicious cake and coffee. A quiet and peaceful cafe just tucked within the church yard of the buzzing borough market

(Translated) It is a small cafeteria, next to the cathedral where it was easier to find a place to eat than in the most typical pubs in the surroundings. The food and the treatment good. As a curiosity for the brewers have "Estrella Galicia". Leave room for dessert, the cakes, scones and scones are amazing and the coffee is decent.
