Reviews of Breadline Cafe
A. W.
When searching Google maps for a local cafe that did a full English breakfast, this one was a perfect find. £7.50 for a full breakfast compared to loads of other locals was definitely the cheapest and provided just what we needed.
A 5 minute walk from our hotel, so 2 breakfast morning was just the trick.
It is not a biggest place but a little wait for a seat if busy is worth it.
We got two full breakfast, a tea and a bottle of water for £16.

Best full English breakfast in the Charing Cross area. Excellent value as well, plus lovely staff. Been my favourite for years. Highly recommended. £9 for a generous serving plus hot drink.

Brilliant little cafe in Central London.. Great tea and coffee, had omelette and chips too ! Would highly recommend. One of favourite places to go in London

Awe...This is a great, good value establishment for a coffee with snack,or basic meal just off Trafalgar Square.
Not many proper old style cafes around anymore.
Chill out there.

Good honest food and the breakfast I was looking for. You can stick your McMuffin you know where. This was the first meal of the day I was looking for. Good service too.
M. F.
Blimey! If this wasn't the most brilliant little cafe where a fine English chap could settle for a crumpet or two, then I suppose I will be eating my hat! This place is the opposite of bullocks.
G. T.
Great sandwich is opposite the national portrait gallery. The decor is similar to London cafes and it's got a really homely feel. There's a great selection of breakfast sandwiches with full breakfast under 6, that's very good price as you tend that much for a latte and croissant at Starbucks. It's not busy and you have amount of time to have you breakfast in peace and quiet. Great place to feel the original London cafes used .
P. B.
Always go here when in London for a show, good food, convenient, lovely staff that make us feel very welcome
A. S.

This place is a real gem in the heart of London. If you're after a traditional greasy spoon cafe with a full English fry up, then Breadline Cafe is a must. The staff are really friendly and polite, it's quite small in there, but a perfect place to sit, eat delicious food, and watch the world go by.
B. l.
Good value full English. Cooked fresh. Would visit again

Inexpensive and seems to be a local favorite. The English breakfast was good. Only complaint was they left my chips off my order
m. r.
Lovely little gem to find … had a fried breakfast for 5 hungry people … cooked lovely and very friendly
M. B.
Good, fast relatively cheap. I loved the old 80s sign advertisement outside.
D. J.
Excellent food and fast friendly service as always!

Just fabulous. Can't believe this little gem is next to St. Martins in the Field. Just good solid food, and coffee, at a good price. Very friendly team running it. Love it
R. H.
Great value for money. Portion sizes are good. The food is freshly cooked and tasty. A great greasy cafe right in the heart of London.

Very nice food well cooked and good service.
H. S.
Bit expensive for a sandwich.
No toilets for diners.
A. C.
Fantastic food and good prices. I will be back

One of central London's last remaining English breakfast joints. This place has the look and feel of the 1960s (though I've never actually seen anyone inside wearing a bowler hat). Food isn't cheap for an English breakfast caff, but it's definitely cheaper than the other food vendors in the area, plus it has a lot more character than the many chains around Trafalgar Square. Well worth a visit. I love it here.
D. L.
Best place to eat in London. Does great English food at a cheap price. If you want a proper English meal, don't waste your money in the Ritz or Ivy come here. Never fails to amaze me how great the food is. Big window to people watch as well. This is the last bastion of great British cafes, and if it were up to me it would be a national heritage site.
K. S.
A lovely cafe in the heart of London away from the hustle and bustle of the crowds

If you’re after a classic london cafe for breakfast this place is perfect. Cup of tea and sausage sarni

You walk by and think of a old American/Italian diner. The concept is pretty much you see what you get nothing fancy or smart, just good comfy food to a low price budget.
I got two sandwiches, one bacon, cheese, tomato and basil, the other was a tuna, cheese and tomato. Both sandwiches were good at the price range.
The service was fine and although the staff does not say a lot you just know they care about their costumes.
All in all a good place to make a short pit stop for a light sandwich.

I was very surprised to find this nice old-school London cafe tucked away just off Trafalgar Square. It looks like the place hasn't changed in years, and nothing wrong with that. Does all day breakfasts, bacon sarnies, panini etc. I didn't really look at the menu but I think it's quite varied - remember seeing chicken curry! Would definitely use it again when in the area. Prices are very good considering where it is!

Took one of my US colleagues to the Breadline for Lunch. We loved it, simple food, plenty of it and realistically priced. a great place to get a meal in London when you need to eat. The staff are great too. Used to eat there most days when I worked in Duncannon Street.

We we're searching for a nice and cosy place where we could rest our aching feet (we walked all day long in London) while having a coffee, a hot chocolate and maybe a snack. We found this little café by coincidence. And we liked it! The first time we got a hot chocolate the way we know it - yes, we're to some point "habiteers". 😅
To the coffee and hot chocolate we ate a slice of Lemon cake which was actually quite yummy. I don't know the exact prices anymore but I think we paid about 7£ altogether.
I'd recommend this place to all those who had a long walk all day long and want to rest a little bit. The staff were friendly although tired. 😊😴 (But who isn't tired from time to time?!)
Good snacks, good warm drinks, nice staff! 😊👍
R. L.
Stopped in for a quick coffee so I didn't get food, but it looked very reasonably priced - £6 or £7 for a full breakfast. The coffee and cold drinks were also reasonable. A small, diner-like cafe in the heart of London that really stands out amongst the chains and larger cafes.
A. A.
Amazing breakfast just down from the National Gallery. Highly recommended!

I can recommend everyone to go there. Its small but the staff is friendly, the food delicious and simple. Even at busy times you never have to wait long to receive your order and they do an all day breakfast :).
P. S.
We popped in here for a quick lunch. Nice, old school type café that is apparently quite rare in London these days. Nothing posh, just simple food well cooked and a good cup of tea. I had the soup du jour; it was hot and tasty. My partner had the fish and chips; he said the fish was fresh and perfectly cooked.
S. B.
Cheers to all the gang down the ‘line. I had a fantastic egg there that filled my gut up

I haven't been to London in a while, but whenever I am, I make sure to grab a bite or two at the Breadline. Great food at good prices.
I'm extremely happy this place is still around.
J. L.
Great service with very cheap and good food, a cozy feeling.
I. S.
Cute and cozy. It fed my hungry belly at a very decent price! :)
A. D.
Quick real food. Cooked while you watch. Simple tables etc good food. Near to many central attractions. Locals and tourists eat here. Order and pay at counter food brought when ready. Cake, all day break, full meal, share a plate.
J. S.
A very nice place to quickly get a small meal. The food is pretty good and not at all expensive. I'm recommending it for anyone who is looking for something to eat in this area.
K. g.

G. A.
Nice little cafe if you want a quick bite to eat.
S. K.
Not exactly fine dining, but a perfect cheap fry up (6.50 for English breakfast and coffee) to help you through a hangover on a cold snowy day
C. P.
Cafés like this are vital when it comes to maintaining London's identity. Long may it survive in the face of chains and greedy landlords!!
Ps, great British cafe fare as well.
D. C.
Every bit as good as the reviews said.
P. L.

M. S.
Top quality food at great prices we only found this cafe by a mistake but glad we did and it was well worth it.
J. P.
Breakfast was quite good according to the price, but the people serving there were rude and unfriendly. Small place but in a very good location.
P. L.
The food and portions are adequate but overpriced even for the West End of London. Service is relatively fast but the staff are not very friendly or amenable.
J. G.
Pleasant little cafe to just stop & recharge. Nice breakfast cooked there and then, & good coffee.
