Reviews of Cafe Melo
C.2nd update 13/08/2021
I don't usually leave updates, especially not two...but they're my local coffee shop, and their service is still very good, and I've recently discovered their cookies, which are amazing. (Especially their chocolate one, and the tahini one). They've also recently started selling babka buns (chocolate + caramel), which aren't better than the cookies, but still a good treat.

Still amazing. We tried two of their sandwiches this time for lunch.
The cheese and mushroom toastie was really really good, and I am by no means a mushroom lover. The seasoning was great and they avoided the far-too-often rubbery mess that happens in other places (and my kitchen).
The salted beef bagel was also a good choice, and the coleslaw was a good balance. We’re going to go back and try some other sandwiches next week. I would highly recommend this place, especially as their service is still outstanding.

Lovely delicious coffee, and the staff are really friendly and nice. Easy to pick up a coffee on your way to Hackney Downs. At the moment, they've made it so you don't have to go inside to order your coffee.

In beforetimes I used to always go sit in to have breakfast after my yoga classes next door, but right now I'm actually really loving the doorway takeaway service. It feels so nice and safe to be able to order and be served while outside and fully distanced. Thank you!!

The Banana Muffins are outstanding and WARNING - highly additive! Melo has recently added a salt beef bagel which is by far the best bagel in London! If you haven't visited Melo yet it's an absolute must see when visiting East London.

G. C.This is a new cafe in the area. I used to come to the previous cafe in the same location and the new owners have done a great job at turning the place around. They offer a deliciously healthy selection of brunch dishes - my favourite is the potato rosti, served with poached eggs. The granola is also great and they make sure to serve it with fresh fruit (peaches, kiwis, strawberries). You get a feeling that they take their time to make each dish tasty and carefully prepared.
The coffee is also one of the best in the area. It’s definitely my go-to place for a Saturday or Sunday brunch and recommend it to all.

f. f.Stop for coffee occasionally during school run. It is nice coffee! Signage for toilets being for staff only are too small to read until you are past the staff only section. Not good for sight impaired - would benefit from being in more prominent position so if those needing facilities with their drink or meal could make a choice about whether to stay before buying anything. Not able to use the toilet even if desperate/pregnant! Their rules, if a little embarrassing.

K.This has been my sanctuary during lockdown (and before). The staff are always beyond amazing and coffee is always on point. And the vegan banana muffins with a hint of salt are to die for!!
