Reviews of Camellia's Tea House
S. C.
I'm glad to have rediscovered this gem of a teashop. I used to go to the old Camellia's Teahouse in Kingly Court; this new incarnation is just as good. The team were lovely and had lots of tea recommendations. They have a varied black, green, oolong and herbal tea selection, all in new recycable packaging. Rochelle is a great baker and they offer a savory selection with vegan options. Highly recommended!

Although the decor was nice, and the staff were helpful and friendly. We got a table straight away and it was nearly fully packed. I have to say I wasn’t too impressed by the tea and scones. I went for the Earl grey and it was nothing special. It said it won a best taste award. I don’t know how that’s possible. It wasn’t very flavourful. My other half went for the high noon tea and it was much nicer. I drank a cup of his. It was the end of day on a Sunday and the scones were a bit dry and bland. The clotted creme and Jam were nice. So perhaps just an older scone. We had initially come in here to trial the tea before we buy. My feelings is this is a touristy area being across from the British museum, and perhaps it was a busy day for them. Prices weren’t bad, under 20 for 2 cream teas. So perhaps it just was a one off experience.

This was the first time I have been here, and I loved the decoration, the atmosphere. I came here with a friend of mine to have a chat over a cup of tea, and I really liked it. I have been to other Tea Houses before and this one is now on my favourite list. I will be certainly be returning here.

I went here for my birthday Afternoon tea, this was such a lovely venue. The atmosphere was intimate and peaceful.
The finger sandwiches were scrumptious- they are usually my least favourite part but they were so full of flavour. The scones were perfect. Two slices of cake (apple crumble- on the sweet side yummy, but i was so full by this point) the vegan lemon and Burberry cake was superb. The cake slices are big!!!!! ( thinking back we should have asked to take them home) I went at 4pm having not eaten in the day and I was so very full.
My favourite part was tea, the choice was overwhelming and i do recommend taking your time reading through the tea menu. Then once you have narrowed it down (we managed to.narrow down to 10 between us) head upstairs ans smell them.

Great selection of tea and fact that they have a wall of samples to sniff before ordering is excellent. Service and food is just average. I was only customer in the room and couldnt find the sample to sniff. Walked over to ask and got verbal directions. It is a big wall, took few min to find it via more verbal guidance. Being the only customer at the time, would have appreciated being shown instead of verbally directed. This subtle difference is ok vs. good. Overall, had great experience compared to other afternoon tea places.

I popped in this tea house for a cup of tea. There is such a cozy place with over 100 choices for tea. I order a tea pot of Earl Grey Orange and some tea-infused sandwiches suggested by staff. The tea and food are absolutely amazing. The staffs were lovely and each one made you feel welcome. I definitely come again soon!

Wonderful tea house close to the British Museum. Many teas to buy and even to try, in a cosy Athmosphere. Lots of cakes and tea time specials. A lovly place to relax und enjoy. Very friendly staff. A calm place, but even buisy. Prices in the middle, but alway worth for. Visit and enjoy.
S. C.
Great selection of teas, lovely environment, lovely staff and a tasty afternoon tea spread. The scones, in particular, are delicious.
L. H.
A very cute tea house with knowledgeable staff and nice blends of tea. Affordable and comfortable for afternoon tea and a retreat from the London rain.
E. H.
Very nice place with the best scones and tea. They have vegan options and how delicious is their carrot cake!
M. P.
The quality of teas is great, though the location of the various teas is a bit too near to the tables
B.
Having quick drink before enter British Museum.
Really nice room and enjoy there.
10/10
L. F.
A relaxing atmosphere to have a huge range of teas (and coffee). Staffs are all polite and friendly. A toddler friendly place too!
T. B.
What an amazing experience!! First time trying herbal teas. Definitely made a repeat customer
A. B.
Delicious earl gray tea and scones!! Very cute ambiance.
K. S.
Great selection of tea, including tea cocktails! Very cosy spot, nice staff and lots of selection for treats.
V. K.
Fantastic venue! We had a British tea tasting event here with more than 30 attendees and a full work tea cocktails event. Both events were really enjoyable thanks to the high quality tea, really friendly and professional staff and a splendid atmosphere of the venue! I highly recommend this tea house! A variety of teas, delicious cakes and even lavender latte! Love it! Recommended! Try Sakura green Tea and apricot white tea as well as rose tea! So much to try!
J. G.
Delicious tea and scones! Perfect on a rainy London day.
J. C.
A fantastic venue for afternoon tea and for those wanting to learn about tea culture. Highly recommend! I happened across this place by chance yesterday and had the most wonderful experience. I'm not a tea connoisseur but I feel like one now! Despite looking very busy, the owner was kind enough to take time out and share his remarkably extensive knowledge of tea - thank you Ajit:) The setting was calm and pretty, the staff friendly, the smoky earl grey delightful and the tea infused toastie was utterly scrummy.
L. G.
Went to this tea house after our morning in the British Museum. It is just a short walk to the left as you exit the museum. Enjoyed a nice afternoon tea with scones. We also sampled each of their sandwiches and they were all delicious. A large variety of tea available. Our group tried traditional earl grey black, stress tea, very berry tea and oolong milky tea. All were delightful and would especially recommend the berry.
L. d. B.
This is a wonderful tea house in London that serves a large array of teas, it might actually be challenging to choose from all the options. The staff are really friendly and welcoming and the scones that go with the tea are really worth is for the full traditional English experience.
J.
Relaxed atmosphere but the afternoon tea was a strange size - not big enough for 2 but too big for 1. It seemed a little lacking and the cakes were small. It was tasty and I enjoyed the tea. There’s definitely a lot to choose from.
C. A.
Serve excellent scone and chai latte. Also love the Green tea (matcha latte).
N. P.
Such a great place to sit down and get an amazing cocktail and also a herbal cup of tea in here. I usually go with a taste of Earl Grey tea. it is absolutely delicious hard to resit the flavor of lavender fried flower combined with black tea, rose petals.
콩.
Quite expensive for a tea with two scones but still worth it to try
N. N.
So many choices of tea and cakes, I tried the China Milky Oolong and it's perfect. Would highly recommended!

Last Saturday I was here with my nieces and sister. After the visit to the British museum we decided to enjoy this cozy place. We have sat right behind the window. My advice is to pay attention when sitting behind the window. I think we were watched by the pickpockets outside. Around 4 pm when it got dark outside, a girl (bum) came in. I did not notice this at first. At the moment I was alone. My sister went to the toilet and two other nieces quickly went to the souvenir shop. I just focused on my phone. Moments later a pickpocket came in and asked for money. Meanwhile, when she left, I noticed that she took my small wallet with her. Special situation that I have experienced. The owner advised us to call the police. Thank you for this. Certainly a nice place but be aware of your things in this street.
G. P.
Had the vanilla black tea & a slice of Earl Grey lavender cake as a post-museum pick me up and both tea and cake were delicious.
Samples of some of the cakes & teas were also available, which helped me decide what to get.
Prices maybe a bit high but reasonable for the location & quality.
Ε. Δ.
Great selection of tea. Staff was quite friendly and efficient. Unfortunately by the time we arrived the kitchen had been closed so we couldn't be served food other than desserts (excellent lemon pie).
M. V.
Popped in after a visit to the British museum and have to say this place served us the best tea we’ve ever had. The staff member let us smell quite a few different teas and helped us choose (we bought some for home too). Can’t wait to go back and try lots of others.
N. B.
The young Irish woman serving us was charming. Something popped a fuse while we were enjoying our tea and scones and she and the rest of the staff handled it well, including engaging with new customers arriving in the dark while working on getting the lights working again. The tea and scones were lovely.
R. D.
beautiful place. surprising English breakfast tea latte. I ate avocado toast which was very good
A. D.
The price is high but it's worth it! The quality of food and appearance is of a high standard. The atmosphere is very cosy and the staff are really nice too.
The raspberry rose pistachio cake is AMAZING and the flavours are so nice. The gingerbread cake is a beautifully understated Christmas cake - simple but powerful. The rainbow cake is 👌. The coffee is delicious, the hot chocolate is the best, and the peach tea lemonade is fresh with subtle hints of peach, lemonade (it doesn't punch you in the face with flavour), and slight bitterness to balance out the sweetness. Last but not least, the jin-dea gin tea cocktail (I don't remember the whole name) is to die for. It feels like a "mature" cocktail, something fun but toned down (if that makes sense).
10/10 would come here again 👅👌 10/10 would recommend to others
L. K.
The tea and scones here are delicious. The number of teas is definitely striving to be posh, but I don't know if it hits the mark or not. The staff here is a little sleazy because the woman at the register tried to add a twelve pound "service" charge to our bill. The only things that the waitress did was bring the tea to our table and talk about the tea a little bit. When I said that the service charge was ridiculous, the cashier immediately dropped it. I think she was trying to take advantage of us because we were tourists. Because of that, I probably wouldn't come here again.
S. T.
Very nice authenic and just-opened tea house! They have so many kinds of teas, from classic to exotic. Loved the hospitality. We really appreciated how the owner took the time to explain the different types of teas amd gave us advice based on our taste. Directly bought a few bags of (beautifully boxed) teas for home!
L.
We had an English Breakfast tea, chai latte with almond milk and a pecan tart. All were okay, nothing special.
The most annoying was the fact that I had to ask for my table to be cleaned and that even though not very busy the staff seemed not very caring. Such a shame because the place itself is very cosy and warm.
M. S.
Sat outside on cloudy day to enjoy some tea and scones with friends, as touristy as I could be
P. Q.
Great tea and a good choice of teas. Cakes OK - but unexceptional. Cream tea good. Costly but reasonable given the location. The queue to order was slow. Why is there no board showing the teas that are available?
T. R.
scones and cakes are delicious, but service wasn't very good both times I've visited. The first time the waiter left in the middle of taking our order to answer a question for the girl at the counter. The second time we were ignored until we asked for the check, which I was incorrectly charged for the wrong item. No apology, they just swapped it up after the manager came.
L. J.
Most wonderful to have Camellia's tea shop back in London. Great location and superb teas....white tea with Apricot my favourite...great coffee served also. Treat yourselves, friends and family to a wonderful relaxed cuppa and tasty food.
M.
Yummy! Will come back when I'm ever in London again!
L. D.
They have a very large collection of teas and all teas we have tried were in the range of very good to exceptional. The atmosphere is very joyful too! Would highly recommend this place!
E. S.
This tea room/ shop has an amazing selection of teas. If you like loose herbal teas it's definitely a destination in central London.
S. M.
Such a darling place! We had afternoon tea with coffee (which was fantastic). The sandwiches were good but the clotted cream was a let down. Presentation was beautiful.
Z. Z.
Food was ok, tea was excellent, but the staff was a bit rude. They also want to charge full service fee before you even get the food and just for putting jam and clotted cream into two bowls? Service tip should be decided afterwards
a. L.
Really top selection of teas and a great location. But the quality of food isn't amazing, survives on the fact it's opposite the British Museum.
G. E.
Great tea selection and a wonderful place to sit. Enjoyed a pot and some peace in the busy day. The smoky Earl Grey was a nice experience.
N. L.
Really nice milk coco very berry and carrot cake!!
C. H.
Very nice place with a wast range of special teas. Lovely cakes, scones and pastries. Kitchen only opens at 12pm.
A. H.
Friendly staff, a cozy and sweet atmosphere, and delicious tea. Would recommend, especially before an exhibit at the British Museum!
S. B.
A great variety of tea. Pleasant staff and great location.
R. M. W.
Very nice tea and cakes with huge selection. The staff were very helpful and were even able to accommodate our large group.
C. R.
Good variety of tea. Nice assortment of cakes. You can get cream tea or afternoon Team aus well.
L. M. P.
More than 100 teas to choose from. It's hard to find any other tea house that is truly into tea like this. Highly recommend for tea lovers
B. C.
I loved this tea shop! The decor was beautiful and I could sit there all day! Delicious cheesecake and tea!
g. a.
The tea and scones are very good. Girls work hard, they need more assistants.
H. A.
The tea here is amazing! Best jasmine tea I’ve ever had!
A. M.
Nice and cosy , make sure you confirm that they give you the right tea but they were happy to change when it was the wrong one
H. J. P.
Expensive to the posh side, but good ambiance and a true commitment to the art of tea.
R. V.
Very nice place. They have gluten free cakes
C. K.
Very cute place with a wide variety of tea blends! Will visit again!!

A group of friends and I are studying abroad from the US and wanted a British tea experience. Camellia’s was absolutely adorable, the workers were helpful and accommodating, and the tea and cakes were delicious!! We got some special tea pots and souvenirs too, that I know I will always treasure. I hope to be back!!

(Translated) It is not a large tea room, but I remember that the tea and scones were quite delicious. We recommend ordering cream tea. I thought it would be crowded because it was right in front of the British Museum, but it wasn't! Quiet atmosphere. I just went in. I think it was better than I thought. I think they also sell their own tea products. If you are on a schedule for a museum tour, we recommend you to find a tea room where you can enjoy lightly.

(Translated) Here you can choose from about 100 types of tea. It is a very British tea house. You can order delicious pastries or an extensive afternoon tea. The different teas can be smelled before you order. It takes a while so take your time. Resting here after a visit to the British Museum is a great way to recover. An absolute must, it is nice that you can have the tea delivered anywhere in the world via their website.

(Translated) A really great afternoon tea, a hundred different types of tea to choose from, a small and intimate little place, in front of the British museum. The desserts in my opinion were too full of butter, but still good, the really good finger sandwiches, and the scones a wonder, I would have eaten by the ton !!!! Cost around € 33 each, ie £ 28, remember the service that is separate, and always book at least two days before for afternoon tea
(Original)

(Translated) For those who do not have a huge fantasies about afternoon tea, it seems to be a good tea house for a quiet and relaxing tea time.
There was a Korean staff member who helped me choose the menu. The tea was delicious and the service was satisfactory.
I didn't go down to the basement, so I don't know what the basement is like, but I was satisfied because it was quiet overall, less crazy, and the interior of the store was beautifully decorated.

(Translated) I don't know if it's a gourmet restaurant, but it's been a long time before I enter the British Museum tour. Recommended for those who want a creamy tea in a quiet atmosphere! I recommend it to those who want to have a real creamy tea in a quiet and calm atmosphere rather than leaving a noisy and insta picture. Cream tea is 13.50 with a service fee of 1.50. There are a lot of teas and scones !!!!! I went to the oldest patissier grandmother in London, but it was more delicious! 1 million recommendations!

(Translated) This teahouse is famous near the British Museum. Not very traditional. Also sold black tea leaves. I ordered black tea individually, but the tea pot is so large that I can drink several cups. I gave an hourglass to make the tea time accurate. The scones cut up and down.
