Reviews of Candy Cafe
I.
The best place in London to get Bubble tea!
Candy Cafe is my go to place to get bubble tea in London. I have been going there on a near weekly basis for almost a year now, and I have never been disappointed. The tapioca is delicious, and the tea itself is really good.
If you go to Candy Cafe, you should also definitely try their desserts. My personal favourite is the Mango Lover, but all of them are extremely tasty.
I have been recommending this place to all my friends, and all of them love it as much as I do!
Don’t hesitate, just go to Candy Cafe!
K. I. D.
Nice clean modern cafe serving Asian desserts and bubble tea. They even have a karaoke room for hire.
The desserts and bubble tea are amazing and is always my go to place for a dessert . Nice place to hang up with friends. Highly recommended.
It is based on the first floor so you do need to climb up some steep stairs which could be a problem if you have need street level access.

This hidden gem was a lovely place to eat. We found this while trying to escape the huge mass of people in China town, and we were pleasantly surprised, the staff were friendly and helpful. There was a large range of food and drinks such as chicken soup, waffles, bubble tea etc. It was priced good for London and tasted great.
M.
Really nice and cozy atmosphere. The owner (I think) was judging my friend for getting a cold lemon tea (basic lol) at this place, and they end up changing their order to a nicer one haha. It was all in a joking manner and we got a nicer drink recommendation! Will visit again to try the desserts!

Right in the middle of Chinatown. It's cute and would be a very good hang out place since it closes quite late. Quick service and the food was good!
E.
I liked the lychee ice-cream.. it was my first time to br honest (I am really not an expert) but I enjoyed the variety of flavours and how light it was. The bubble tea was pretty good but I think I got the flavours matching a bit wrong as I didn’t know most of them (which is a good thing!).. the place itself is pretty hidden but on one of chinatown’s main roads. I thought the room and the design lacked of personality though. Pretty empty and dry. No ambience. No particular vibe (which I always consider really important for the experience)..
Overall a good place to visit.. but I wasn’t overly impressed to be honest..
H. M.
I like their menu and food looks really nice. The food I selected taste just ok. They come in too big and you may get tired of before the end. The atmosphere is great in that they have two tv screens showing Korean MTV.
J. M.
First time enjoying Mango Sago here and it was so good! Refreshing and fresh!
A hidden gem that’s worth the find.
I. T.
Absolutely amazing tucked away place! Very chill vibes and a great price for a London place!! I'd highly recommend it for small groups who want something quick and tasty
H. B.
My Mix & Match with Soya Pudding, Red Bean, Matcha Ball and Matcha Ice Cream was divine. My picky eater had his with Coconut Sago, Mango Popping, Aloe Vera, Mango and Mango Ice Cream which he also rated 5 stars. While ice cream wasn't supposed to be the speciality of a Taiwanese style dessert spot like this, both flavors were surprisingly good, not to mention the size of the scoop. Soya Pudding was unsweetened and Coconut Sago wasn't sickly sweet either, making them perfect bases for the sweet toppings to build up on. Very flavorful, well balanced, generously portioned, and reasonably priced dessert that can easily replace a full meal. Looking forward to trying a lot of others on the massive menu; almost had to queue on Sunday afternoon so wouldn't try on Saturday.

Definitely a great place to come by for desserts and coffee.
Really great quality and prices.
The staff is friendly and they are helpful with recommendations.
The downside of the stablishment is the toilet (need to be improved and refurbished).
Definitely coming back to try new dessert from this place.
A. B.
Nice small café on the first floor (the front door doesn't lead to the outside which keeps the place warmer). The service was really good and the drinks properly enjoyable. We will come back to try the desserts.
A. A.
Great Chinese / Asian desert place. Big portions so don’t be shy about sharing if you’re not too famished!
R. P.
Such a cozy cafe with delicious desserts and a great K-pop playlist
Y. S.
This is truly a hidden gem. At first when entering I was thinking I'm definitely about to be kidnapped but as soon as I got to the main shop it was the cosiest friendliest atmosphere I've visited. Music perfect volume, lighting of room was perfect, personal space at table. The Taro bubble tea was fresh and the best one I've had so far. Service was quick and friendly. I'm reconsidering posting this because I don't want more people to know about this place but it deserves the praise.
I. Y.
Perfect for a quick stop for deserts. Place is very cosy and chilled! We had the bubble tea, one of the fruity house desserts, and a waffle. Price is quite fair.
I would definitely recommend going for a bubble tea and one of their house desserts. Many choices to try from. Their waffle wasn’t that great.
M.
Hidden gem!!! So unexpected but very spacious and have such a great selection of dessers and bubble tea. Highly recommend
S. M.
Cute cafe, cosy with freindly staff and great food
K. G.
Really good desserts and drinks options. The staff were really nice. Will definitely go back.
Z. B.
Really nice cafe tucked away in China town. I tried a bit taro milk tea with tapioca, coconut and lychee jelly...Really impressed. Will try some dessert next time. A bit small inside but atill a great little corner to chill and grab a drink. 5/5 for service. See you guys next time I'm in China town.
L. J.
Lovely little cafe with super friendly staff. At quiet times, it's very easy to sit in for a while and chat with friends or work on something. Huge variety of Asian treats and desserts
S. A.
Small Asian cafe upstairs, tried something new as they have unique dessert options, bingsoo, waffles and bubble tea and so on. The place is very tiny and they had some seats reserved which I found unfair, as we sat down twice and were told to re-seat even though the second seat didn’t have a reserved sign.
Regardless a nice place and I’d return. The staff is nice and there are many options, there’s also an option to create your own bowl. About 5.50£ pp. We had the mango pudding and strawberry bowl. Strawberry was better, I recommend to opt for one with ice inside it. They also played kpop which was nice.
S. H.
Small cafe with delicious Asian desserts. You can't book, but they usually try to squeeze you in! Service is friendly and quick, plenty of choice on the menu. It is a little pricey for the portion size but to be expected with the high cost of rent in China Town. Worth a visit, especially if you love mango desserts!
J. H.
Nestling between two restaurants off main Chinatown, Candy Cafe has a vast array of oriental desserts.
My ‘Summerlicious’ comprises coconut sago, vanilla ice cream, matcha & taro balls was just what I wanted on a hot summer’s day.
Also pictured is the azuki toast (brioche) with matcha ice cream - I don’t rate this since I find the bread a bit dry.
Mango forest is delightful: chewy glutinous balls, mango chunks, grass jelly and topped-off with a scoop of vanilla.
All around £6. Service is extremely efficient. I’d love to sample more of the menu!
K.
Very nice experience, we highly recommend Candy Cafe, the bubble ice tea was really good
Really nice team feel so welcome there. No crowd giving you plenty of time to make your choice
N. C.
Almost missed the place when looking for it, it’s actually one floor up! Went for the “mix & match” - coconut sago cream, red bean, aloe Vera and lychee with an extra vanilla ice cream on top; all for £6 . Each component was made nicely and tasted as great as I hoped! However I do wish the coconut sago cream (the base) was more watery(more like a soup) but I understand that will only make the other toppings to sink to the bottom. Anyway, I would definitely come back to try more things from the menu!
K. D. d.
Very cosy and nice, food average but good for price. Desserts very nice and karaoke fun is lots of fun!
N. A.
I went there yesterday for the first time and I love this place!!! The workers are so friendly, the decor and overall vibes are so cosy and comfortable, the food is DELICIOUS and they play Chinese/Korean pop which I loved. It was such a welcoming and nice experience. Highly recommend to get dessert! :)
ダ.
Lovely and friendly staff, a great spot to enjoy some good bubble tea while sitting-in
R. C.
Very nice atmosphere with great variety of Asian desserts. Staff here are very welcoming and friendly.
F. S.
One of the best bobba teas I've ever had. Try the Hokkaido tea! It's amazing!
G.
Pomelo Mango is very nice, must try! Bubble milk tea a little too sweet, should have options for selecting the sugar level and ice level.
A. B.
A great honkongese desert place neatly tucked away on a small street next to Chinatown. There is no fancy storefront so it is easy to miss and I have never seen it supercrowded. The desert selection is solid and moderately priced. The staff is courteous and a bit shy.
F. T.
Cosy little cafe that serves a nice selection of sweet Asian desserts. You can also pick and mix and create your own desserts with your selection of toppings. Service is fast and efficient.
S. C.
Always a great place to chill with friends with great desserts. The only place I know as well that offers kaya peanut butter toast!
e.
never as busy as other bubble tea shops in china town, drinks are delicious and the staff are lovely. plus the in store seating with a nice breeze is perfect on a warm day
A. M.
I visited Candy Cafe back in August 2020 and I fell in love! They are definitely underrated and a small hidden gem. The interior is so cosy and welcoming and the staff are very kind. All their desserts are very affordable so there's no excuse for not going! We tried the Mango Lover which had sago (tapioca) pudding, mango mochi ball and mango ice cream, and another dessert with shaved ice, vanilla ice cream, strawberries, kiwi, mangoes and added taro ball. They have so many other desserts and a huge range of bubble teas that I have yet to try but I anticipate going back.
N. J.
Best cafe in the whole area. I love going here and everything on the menu tastes so good. Friendly staff and amazing service. I love the changes that have been made to the sitting areas and stuff too! Please, please never close! I love you guys so much. I come back here every month because it's such a comfort place for me. I urge everyone reading this to check them out. ♡♡
c. f.
The friendliest staff I have ever met! Pleasant atmosphere even when the weather outside is bad, when you step it's just an amazing mood! Me and my friends make sure to stop here every time we're in London. Amazing boba, great for snacks and desserts too!
D. S.
Great deserts, simple seating and quick service.
This place is not easy to find but once you know its there you know it is worth going to.
Visited with a small group of friends and had a great conversation and some drinks.
The deserts were awesome without being too sweet and the fruit was fresh and tasty.
Not too expensive.
S. J.
Good experience nice place for anyone trying something new, try this place for Karaoke you would love this place and try different tea, or coffee and snacks as well. 💯%👌🎤🎵
S.
Very nice and cute cafe, friendly staff.
Would recommend the Oreo Toast and Original Milk Tea
H.
Best place to go to for Asian desserts! Not many know about this hidden gem as you have to walk up the stairs to find the café. Been coming here over the years and everything they serve never disappoints! I normally go for the sweet dumpling with ginger soup. Normally the ginger base is weak to my liking but you can ask the staff to make it stronger if you ask them nicely =3 My other faves are mango pomelo sago pearl dessert and Mango lover. The place used to be small but now they have renovated to make it more spacious for customers. So if you are looking for tasty dessert, chilled vibe with Kpop/Asian music playing in the background, then definitely check this place out with your friends!
j.
OG dessert shop... Opens late too, great place to just chill and have some dessert to end your dinner :)
C. B.
Service was really good, the staff were friendly and welcoming. The desserts were delicious! I loved the atmosphere of this cozy place.
A. C. U.
Love the teas, amazing flavours and mango desserts are amazing!.
M. B.
Nice tasty desserts. I'm giving only 3 starts as they ask for payment for tap water.
M. E. L.
One of the best and great value asian desserts in london
E. N.
They are serve Asian dessert at Chinatown, high recommend their crepe, coconut soup and milk tea.
Small & comfortable space, friendly service and price reasonable 😍
R. L.
The place is cozy. The food is good and special. Having been searching for taro ball for a long time... thanks!
B. L.
Came as a group of 4 and we arrived at around 10:30pm and they were actualy closing soon but we were told to be seated anyways, which was really nice of them seeing as they were starting to clean up the kitchen already! It was a shame that the Strawberry Forest I wanted was sold out but got a Mango dessert and it was just as yummy! Will be back again at a earlier time so I can get the strawberry dessert! :)
W.
Great little dessert place. Lots of options to choose from a a lovely little atmosphere.
R. E.
This is a great casual dessert cafe. They have an incredible selection which can be a bit daunting if you haven't been there before. The staff are super friendly and will guide you through the menu, ask questions and give recommendations which is really helpful.
The variety of flavours of the bubble tea is good so you shouldn't have any difficulty finding a flavour that you like. It was my first time having a bubble tea and it was tasty!
Their desserts are quite large and could be easily shared by two people.
V. M.
Got the strawberry green tea with aloe Vera topping and it was amazing. Everyone was very friendly!
L.
I came here for a meet and greet experience and I was really pleased with the visit overall. I had a hazelnut latte and my friend had a strawberry smoothie and both were delicious. The music is fantastic and it’s very cosy. The staff are sweet and helpful and the prices are very reasonable. Will definitely come again!
Q. L.
Great price, plentiful menu and tasty dessert. Highly recommended 💪🏻
F.
Been coming here for years with friends as it's a great place to go to for deserts, teas and coffees. The amount of options are endless, I've probably tried half of the menu and I've always been pleasantly surprised. The attention to presentation is really impressive, I always find myself eyeing other customers orders. The staff are always so amazingly friendly and supportive and are all genuinely kind people. You have to try the mantou at some point, accompanied by a delicious bubble milk tea (honey peach/mango/honeydew are my go to). This cafe is super cosy, I often come to study mandarin here after martial arts training as all the food/drink are super refreshing and allow you to power through and get some work done. I try not to stay too long on a busy day as it would feel wrong to deny anyone else this experience.
-edit: They just refurbished and it's amazing! Excellent new additions to the menu; I recommend the new triple toast. Service is amazing as usual and it's super spacious now with a whole new room!
L. L.
Hidden but best dessert cafe in London Chinatown
L. G.
This place is really cool, very girly but also very Asian.
You can find a whole blend of stuffs that you have in bubble teas or sago and tapioca desserts.
Everything taste great and when you get in, you're just lost as the choices multiply themselves.
Have a try with the sago coconut and mango or the taro and malt bubble tea.
Anything you can find there is a jewel to taste and enjoy.
W.
Love this place. Been going here for many years. Desserts aren't expensive, plenty too choose from with snacks, drinks and coffee as alternative options. Its a cafe, so of course its great to chill at for a while, although when it gets busy, and you've been there for a good 30 minutes to an hour its understandable that you gotta leave (personally I think this is fine. Gotta share the love).
Service tends to be quick and they normally have everything in stock (although a number of times they were out on a few snack items).
If you aren't fond of wooden seats, eat fast or cross this place off your list.
Window seats I find quite pleasant, although they only seat 2. Other places seat 4 & 6 respectively.
Music seems to mainly revolve around chinese, k-pop and some english (a lot of Bruno Mars and some classics).
L.
i have only been here a few times but i really recommend it, staff are always so friendly and the drinks are great too :) hoping to visit next time i’m in london
C. V.
Very nice dessert here .. will go with friends next time then can eat more different dessert😁😁 great service
V.
Cozy and neat little cafe. Dessert are nice, staff is friendly too. Maybe a bit expensive for just sweets, but the presentation does look good and the dessert/sweets are also not bad. Recommended
H.
Great service! Decent dessert! Recommended 👍⭐️
W. M.
Cute and had some tasty drinks and food options. The Strawberry Surprise was a delight and a very interesting desert.
j. •.
amazing shop! i’m so glad i found it again :) the desserts are so genuine and taste absolutely divine. a must try for hong kong desserts!
C. F.
The deserts were nice and the service was fast. You can't reserve a table so go early. It is a small cafe so we had to squeeze into a small booth area. They have a TV but it was playing Korean or Chinese music videos. There are a lot of small stairs to climb before you get to the cafe as well.
N. S. T.
Great desserts, reasonably priced. I especially like the hot soup desserts but the menu has quite a wide choice. Quite hard to find though if you don't know where to look. I like taking friends here!
C. L.
This is Chinatown’s hidden dessert gem. The staff is very friendly and the selection is so huge! The desserts taste great. If you don’t know what to choose try the Sugo with Peanut butter dumplings. The prices are more than fair.
K. A.
Friendly staff and the bubble teas are nice.. need to try another.
A. C.
This place is a lovely hidden gem but almost impossible to find it which makes it very hard to direct people there. I been to this place quite a lot and I can confirm what others have said so far: the portions are massive, the quality is very good, the menu has a lot of variety, the staff is very friendly & fast, the tea is very good and they stay open until late.
On a cold day I would recommend trying the dessert soups or crepes and on a hot day it's always interesting to experiment with their cold dessert selection.
The only reason I am giving it 4 starts is because of the tiny toilet/staircase and the crammed space inside the store but even this can make for an interesting experience
On a final note, they also do takeaway on everything which i found a bit odd but they do package things neatly and they are easy to carry without worrying if you will spill them or if they will melt.
E. N.
Cosy place with great dessert and friendly staff. Best after a nice meal in Chinatown.
E. T.
The desserts are ok, they had some teething troubles back when they were newly opened because when my group of 10 came, one of my friends discovered her dessert was salty. You read that right, salty. We told the manager and he was puzzled and we asked him to try it. Yes, it tasted salty to him too! He then proceeded to take another 2 of the same dessert out of the fridge and tried them, they were salty too! Promptly the whole lot went into the bin and my friend ordered something else.
Strange experience, but perhaps someone mixed up the sugar and salt containers? Even if a dessert went off it would not become salty, unless my mind is not as scientific as I thought.
Luckily, I have been back a few times over the years and the same experience has not happened again.
The issue I have with this place is the space. There is so little room here and you will usually feel cramped in your little seating area, and it's not very good if you want an impromptu catch up with a huge group of friends, as usually it's really busy at night.
There is one toilet only, sometimes they keep it locked and you have to ask for the key, sometimes it's open. Just ask the staff, they are quite friendly.
For me though, I still prefer my original dessert haunt, Golden Gate dessert house, unless my companions feel like eating here. I feel like the desserts are more freshly made there than here, and the turnaround of the food is better. There is also more space there. Each to their own though, don't judge until you have tried both.
B. S.
Nice deserts from hong kong
M. S.
Average. Would have been like home if they had more variety.
A. R.
Yummy milk tea and dumpling sweet soup, friendly service and good location when you need a little escape from the busy streets of Leicester Square ad Chinatown. However, I don’t think customers that are paying for food and other drinks should also have to pay for tap water, especially on a hot day.
L. C.
This café offers some of the really authentic Chinese desserts, that I was lucky to try in Chine, in one of my visits there and was soo excited to find it back at home! The strawberry shaved ice is soo yummy, the green tea ice cream was my experiment, that I had in my last visit an I loved it too..so I do believe their dessert selection is really great, so as the varieties of Bubble teas they serve. My only concern regarding this place is the tiny space where it is located and that at nights it may get really crammed.
S.
Cozy place. Friendly service. They have plenty of bubble teas and desserts selection. Loved the watermelon one. Went with friends yesterday and really had a nice time.
D. L.
A hidden gem near De Hems in London's Chinatown. Tucked up a flight of stairs you'll find a small cafe offering bubble tea, matcha, jelly, shaved ice, ice cream, fruit, sesame balls in ginger syrup, and other traditional desserts as well as some savoury dishes such as fried chicken and gyozas. Very reasonably priced with fast and friendly service. This is now my go-to dessert place!
J.
Oreo choco toast was so good!
k.
ordered the shaved ice fruit bowl which was delicious and also ordered the peach crepe however it looked like it was made many hours before serving as it just didn't taste fresh nor the crepe itself hot. highly disappointed.
S. C.
Very friendly service. Like others said it’s a small place but it’s quite nice and very reasonably priced!
A. D.
Great bubble tea and wonderful atmosphere!
S. L. L.
The dumpling ( with peanut in it) is super delicious!
J.
Small little place with lots of items on the menu. Usually get a crepe and a tea. Taste and priced are not bad. Good for a couple friends, but like I say, it's a small place so it may be busy often.
A. R.
The entrance is somewhat hidden away, but it's worth a visit for all with a sweet tooth. It has desserts ranging from fairly "normal" in Western countries, like fruit and ice cream, to more traditional asian desserts.
朱.
The waffer at this place is always so good! And there are loads of other options to chose from for sweets and desserts! The cafe itself is a bit hidden, but thats what made comfortable like secret hideout❀.(*´▽`*)❀.
Y. T.
Cosy little dessert place hidden in China Town.
A. A.
I love this place. Lychee boba tea is my favourite. Thanks guys for making me feel so welcomed and we love the new layout.
J. T.
Great selection of yummy desserts.
C. D.
Good place to have Chinese dessert, and sit & chat in small or medium sized groups. But they only accept cars for one person in the group, rest us to be cash.
K. C.
This is a little bubble tea place tucked away on a side street of China town. I'm pretty sure this is owned by the same owners of boba jam; the menu is exactly the same except it is cheaper than boba jam. Because it's so small, there's a nice homey vibe, and the staff were nicer here than at boba jam. Definitely will come here from now on!
L. X.
Nice bubble tea. One time I arrived just past closing time, late at night. They were still happy to serve me despite having packed a lot of things away. Great attitude!
A. B.
Always my favourite place in China town. Authentic taiwanese vibe that makes me absolutely nostalgic!
J. T.
Great cosy atmosphere with great service. There is a variety of desserts to choose from...my personal favourite is the Crepes mix and match and the Honey Dew BBT
G. A.
I came and had chocolate chilli sorbet, and it was really interesting and tasty and hot! There are only a couple of tables inside, but it was a cosy little place on a side street.
K.
Amazing place for desserts and boba tea!
N. A.
Small cafe with delicious and taste desserts
L. N.
I visited on a quiet evening where there were 2 or 3 groups of people, the desserts were delicious.
J. F.
I think I happened to be a hunter for places selling Bubble tea in London or this is just the perfect coincidence that I came across the Candy Café, which seems to be a paradise for the people with sweet tooth like me, who would fancy a green tea icecream with red beans for example and will continue splurge with the banana milk tea, for example..Great spot that should not be missed if you have ever been curious what a typical Chinese dessert tastes like!
M. O.
Always a GOOD place to have a drink/dessert. Lovely staff also!
H. S.
Lovely gem of a cafe! Lots of nice drinks and dessert options, exactly the kind of thing you'll find in Asia.
C. S.
A petite quiet Internet Cafe with good service and great Earl Gray tea! I find it very convenient for getting my thoughts together and reading. Recommend it!
A. W.
Very friendly staff. Desserts weren't too sweet. A bit overpriced.
m.
the bubble tea her is amazing, the service was so good, the staff were very friendly
c. l.
Tucked in one of the side streets in China Town is this little beaut. It' a tiny tiny dessert restaurant but you won't be disappointed
B. D.
Affordable and yummy desserts! Really cosy which I love and just a nice atmosphere.
K. T. (. P. M.
It's cute and always a pleasure to be there! Plus waitress is cute
A. H.
Small but cozy little cafe with a good selection of sweets and drinks. Lively atmosphere and friendly staff.
M. G.
Artificial tasting but delicious
C. R.
Very nice place with good staff and more important, good food.
Only bad thing, the seats are made of wood so not comfortable long
K. W.
All my favourites in the cafe, variety of tastes and styles. In hot or cold desserts.
I.
Great cozy place to visit, relaxing environment and good value as well, staff working there are very friendly. Ideal place to chill or go to with friends

(Translated) Very good experience.
The restaurant is very small and you have to find it because there is only the door that opens onto the street, the room is upstairs.
The staff are very friendly, the drinks and desserts offered are very original and very good.
The prices remain correct, especially for the desserts which are very generous.

(Translated) A favorite place I have visited many times. A hidden cafe in a very difficult place to understand in Chinatown. Milk tea and kaya toast are recommended.
