Reviews of Frank's Cafe
C. M.
A very traditional and quaint cafe based in Southwark. Lots of proper options for English breakfast and other lunch items, such and rolls, baguettes and the like.
The prices are extremely reasonable and the food is hearty and fillng. The staff are very nice here and very helpful.
Be warned about the time you go as it it's super popular and therefore super busy. It's a cafe for the less pretentious people who must only eat Avocado's on toast etc etc.
S. B.
Amazing value. Staff are so friendly and welcoming, really make you feel at home. Jacket potato alone is £3 with butter and then add toppings (cheese £1, tuna £1, beans 50p). They are so big, could barely finish! Place reminds me of the 90s, very British setting. Would come here again. Not halal and limited vegetarian options in my opinion.

Lively cafe with lots of customers, their employee are friendly no matter how busy they are. Food is awesome and price are reasonable too
S. J.
Liver, bacon, cabbage, boiled potatoes and gravy. Superb. Went time and time again over the years.
K. K.
Food was amazing, especially considering how cheap it was. £14 for two coffees, fries, and sandwiches. When we asked the waiter about London he sent the owner out who spoke with us! He was very nice and even took a picture with us.
D. D. Y.
You should try this place. It is better then Terry's Cafe.
J. C.
Great food. Great value for money. Spot on service.

Always order takeaways in the morning and the food is fantastic. Would recommend the sandwiches, they beat all those Pret and StRbucks fake toasted bread. Have been coming here for breakfast for more than a year and never got disappointed. Definitely recommend to locals and first visitors.

Top Quality food, good and quick service
It’ll beat any cafe around all day long!
Similar to Arthur’s if you know that legendary place!

Just popped in as working in the area. What a great cafe. Good cheap food. Buzzing greasy spoon style atmosphere but not greasy and all good. Great upbeat, happy service. Cracking little place. Sausage Bap, Crispy bacon bap. Two drinks. Fiver. Happy days.
D. N.
Quick service even when it's busy, good value for money, straight-forward foods, the staff are always pleasant and happy to customise your order. As expected for a cafe it seems busiest between 12:00 and 13:00/13:15, and is frequented by a variety of people who work locally and not so locally, from architects to construction workers, a nice little place I keep returning to. There are not many tables but other patrons have always been happy to let others sit where there's space, but they also offer takeaway should you not want to stay.
C. A.
Great cafe, best fry up I've ever had. Portions are generous so it's ideal for people with a large appetite. I work across the road from the cafe and it's a no brainer where to go for lunch. Service with a smile, staff are very friendly and welcoming. It is clear that frank and his staff put a lot of hard work into ensuring their customers have an enjoyable experience. The food is cooked fresh to order and it is cheap too for a cafe in London which is bonus too. The typical customers are builders and office workers and it gets really busy so you have to get there before the lunchtime rush due to the lack of seating but there is nothing they can do about that due to limited space. Brilliant place, thanks Frank!
R. A.
Good quality traditional English Cafe.
Excellent breakfast whether you eat in or take-away. I particularly recommend the toasted egg and bacon sandwich with black pepper and red sauce. No fancy £3 Latte here but they do sell a pretty good Portuguese egg custard tart!
A. P.
Decent Cafe. Great food. Real butter and very good quality bacon. Quick service. Only draw back is not enough tables when its really busy at lunchtime. Really friendly service, decent value and decent portion sizes. Twice monthly full english lunchtime treat. Other diners friendly in there too so sharing a table isnt awkward in peak lunch hour.

Frank's cafe is a rare thing these days. One of the only real greasy spoons left in London. Great food on offer including wonderful salads and home cooked dishes, as well as the all day breakfasts. Staff friendly and helpful, punters nice too. Hooray for Frank's Cafe.
K. W.
Visiting the area for a job interview and I stopped in for something quick and to kill an hour and the place is really good. Nice menu, nice atmosphere. Very busy and its obvious why. The clientele are a mix of office workers, builders and white van man.
Had cheese and ham and tea. If i get this job they will definitely be my choice for food.
B. M.
Seriously. This is THE best cafe in London. All food is cooked fresh..no microwave bacon here. I've been a courier frequenting cafes for 35years and no other cafe comes close. Warm friendly staff.....fantastic service...breakfasts cooked precisely how requested. Very clean....the best
G. K.
When you see the cafe packed to the brim full of locals , you can trust it's a good spot. These are the kinds of gems that are hard to find.
Stuff your face for £5 in a nice relaxed atmosphere. The best greasy spoon in London
C. H.
An old-school cafe providing top quality grub at great value. Their home-made pasta sauces are a particular treat. The staff are always friendly and on the ball, and the contented, diverse clientele - from city types to builders - make this place a slice of real London.
P. B.
No one does it better than Frank's for food. The original old school cafe. Serving the best breakfast in London and more, including real proper tea... 'tea you can stand your spoon up in' as my old mum would say. Part of what was once cool about London.
B. L.
Love this place!! I straight up love brunch and this was no disappointment. Food was very excellent and the place are simply amazing. There's really nothing bad here. Whether you're in the mood for a light bite or a serious competitive eating event, you'll find more options than you can count that suit your tastes.
S. F.
Top breakfast I've been told the other food is equally as good but can't recommend as I always have the full English 😉👍😋😋😋
R. T.
Very nice place with retro feel to it. Staff very friendly. Ordered stirloin steak as medium rare. Stake huge almost ft, perfect chips, tasty peas, good gravy. All very fresh. Just £6.50. Worth the visit.
D. H.
This is a great place to come for an English fry up. It's busy, and that's a good sign with a regular stream of locals coming through the door. The food is cheap too; eggs, chips and beans with a cuppa for less than a fiver.
There's tables to sit at, but the entrance is squashy with everyone coming and going.
Good local food at a great price. I'm sold (and full).
Word of warning:cash only, but the ATM is just around the corner at Sainsbury's.
B. J.
Absolutely the best cafe in London. If you want something, you bet Franks has it. Shepards Pie? No problem. Lasagne? Best in town. Chips and gravy? You bet. Great prices, great guys and portion sizes are great!
R. S.
My fiancé brought home his lunch leftovers.
It was DELICIOUS!
Pasta pomodoro is YUMMY!
I’ll be sending him back for more!
R. C.
My boyfriend and I went to London for a few days for his 30th birthday. We found this little gem down the road from where we were staying on the south bank. It is a traditional cockney 'greasy spoon' there were loads of locals in, which I think is always a good sign and the breakfast was spot on! We liked it so much we went back again the next morning before getting the train back home! True slice of London!
r. d.
The food here is fantastic, always get a english breakfast before work. Always delivered on time and piping hot. I'm very impressed with the quality of service and food. If your in Southwark, definitely check this place out.
W.
This is one of the best gems in the area. The staff have yet to disappoint. Always cheerful, enough to brighten my day up.
It is a bit cramped and often busy but the waits are seldom long. It is great food for a great price, and with the wait.
R. A.
Typical cafe, reasonably prices for the location area and lovely friendly staff makes you feel welcomed. They can accommodate anything you want providing they have all the ingredients so you can order off the menu.
D. C.
Food was really yummy, and a great price too! Not very aesthetic, but if you care more about good food and friendly staff than ambiance than you should come here for a lunch.
D. B.
Great service. Great food. Just had Liver, Bacon, cabbage and potatoes. Beautiful. Nearly brought a tear to my eye - proper, healthy, good value food (£5.20). Thanks Frank. I'll be back.
D. M.
All is good here! But particularly burgers and lasagna... just fantastic! And that's without even taking into account the price! Best value for money ever!
I. B.
Great little find. Breakfast in our hotel would have taken me back £64 for the 3 of us and at Frank's we had a great traditional breakfast for just over £12.Busy but food was quickly served, tasty and the place is spotless.
B. M.
Classic gone-by era british cafe (also called greasy spoons) known for its reasonable price and simple, honest food with brutal portions. The food for 5-6 GBP proved hard to finish and let me tell you I am no tiny guy..
Seemed like it is mostly frequented by cabbies, white van man, construction guys but also have a few suits and office workers. Strangers sit next to each other in the booths because the place is tiny. The staff is nice and helpful.
Forget the pumpkinseed ryebreads with greek yoghurt and coconut milk, as well as the artisan flat white coffees. This is a place for some dirty grub, although I have seen them do some very delectable sandwhiches and meals with more veg - that also doesn't give you an instant coronary, so that's the only thing to flag :)) As others said the menu is flexible, you can throw things out put others in, so play with it.
B. N.
Just perfect. Tea so strong it can shake your hand and serve you a huge plate of delicious, fresh whatever you fancy. Limited seating but it's nice to share a bench.
M. B.
Best Cafe and Greasy Spoon in London. Great atmosphere, spotlessly clean, well cooked, good portions. Love it
D. S.
This is my favourite cafe in london . Better food than E Pellicis . Best toast in london slathered in butter. Wolsley take note.Service spot on - friendly and fast. Perfect chips and eggs and bacon.Never change.
G. M.
It's an amazing little place, very fast at serving too. It was so good, we came here every morning for breakfast while we were here for 3 days.
A. T.
Excellent, friendly service. Popped in for toast and a coffee - very reasonable price. It’s a shame this place isn’t near my office!
D. M.
It's a greasy spoon and a good one. Also last man standing with regards to similar establishments in the area so, go go go. £5 for shepherds pie with chips and beans? Oh yes.
P. D.
As good as it gets. If you want a proper fried breakfast then this is the place for you. Busy with cab drivers and builders. One of the last bastions of its kind - use it or lose it.
A. W.
Great little cafe, very efficient service and very polite staff. Food is lovely, next time I'm down I will definitely be back
T.
Fantastic breakfast food at reasonable prices, along with sandwiches. Visit and support their business as it may disappear otherwise.

(Translated) The place is perfect except for a little narrow. It is a great place to experience a local English English breakfast. The price of 6.5 pounds is enough for two people.

자리가 조금 협소한것 빼고는 완벽. 영국현지의 서민 잉글리쉬 브랙퍼스트를 경험하기에는 최고. 가격도 6.5파운드의 스패셜 메뉴는 두명이서도 충분한 양 :)
