Reviews of Hjem Kensington

Nice busy cafe in Kensington. The cakes and coffee was nice but quite high price for the size. We got given the cakes but without cutlery and water was all out so had to state to be refilled. There was no filter coffees and no menu? in the casher so that was a little odd. There was only two type of cakes that we bought both of them so having more will be better.

Lovely Scandinavian bakery with delicious cinnamon buns and croissants. Great for brunch with avocado or salmon toast! Great lattes and teas. Super cozy to seat indoors, in the garden or just outside
K. B.
Great place to stop by for a coffee and cardamom bun !
The staff deal very well with being extremely busy and have an efficient order system. They call your name out while you wait outside for takeaway orders.
I prefer to takeaway coffee here as the inside looks too crowded and you might need to wait for a seat.
The price of the coffee is £3.40 for a large latte. This is a normal London price. It is actually reasonable considering its location and popularity.
I would avoid coming here at school closing or opening time as it is extremely busy and there will almost definitely be a small child having an absolute meltdown and screaming at the top of their lungs.

Amazing flat white. They have a short food menu they make to order. Salmon and avocado sandwich was quite tasty. Pastries are great, but come early because they tend to run out later in the day. Small inside seating area. Almost always a queue to order, but they move fairly quickly.

Only steps from Kensington Gardens, this amazing hidden gem of a coffee shop is on one of the most beautiful, quiet streets in central London. Grab a flat white and one of their tasty baked goods and sit across the street on the small garden while you soak up the sun and watch the constant line of local families and and Londoners grabbing their morning brew!

Busy cafe, friendly staff and great food! Never had smoked salmon before I came here and I’m fully converted now! Love their smoked salmon sandwich!

I love this coffee spot. The exterior vibe around Launceston Place centre island is amazing when it’s sunny, and the interior of HJEM is very calm and nice. The coffee is great and you should try their coconut matcha scons😍 I literally order one of these every single time. Great place for locals🤍

Lovely little cafe located in the heart of Kensington on a small quiet road just off the crowded Gloucester Road.
Coffe, sandwiches and pastries are delicious. It can get quite crowded on a sunny day and especially over the weekend. Little indoor tables are also available.
D. C.
Cute breakfast place! Lots of people were lining up to get their coffee on the go, but we stayed and had a meal. The servers were nice and wore masks.

Loved the low sugar - organic mindset in their menu and everything was delicious! It gets quite busy though so keep that in mind. The only bad thing was that it was pretty cold inside the café because the staff kept leaving the door open, even though I kindly asked them to close it. I guess they do it to make sure that people don’t stay that long.

Very en vogue and busy neighborhood cafe. The elegant people frequent it daily for coffee. The waiters are friendly and smiley. I had a chocolate dessert that had all the right ingredients but no taste. I liked visiting though.

My absolutely beloved coffee spot in Kensington, used to be very Hygge. It was my own and family favourite spot for three years.
Unfortunately all the latter experiences turn out to be less and less friendlier, the place best works as a takeaway I would say. Every time I try to sit in, I have some really unwelcoming ‘service’ and feel like I visit the owner and staff at their home or in their office where no one else is supposed to be. Really hope atmosphere and attitude will change, to be honest!

I was excited to find this Scandinavian coffee shop. It's cute, in a great neighborhood. Service friendly. Coffee was good, but the cinnamon bun a little boring - bit dry and not much flavour. Paid £6.50 for a latte and cinnamon bun, so on the expensive side as the coffee was small. Wouldn't specifically seek it out again, but fine if you're in the neighborhood.

Look no further than Home or Hjem as this is a Danish cafe to find great coffee and friendly atmosphere! Just steps away from the Hyde Park tacked away in the pretty Kensington streets.

Cute breakfast place! Lots of people were lining up to get their coffee on the go, but we stayed and had a meal. The servers were nice and wore masks.
T. W.
I loved it! Their selection of Danish bakes like the Dream cake, Cardamom bun and Cinnamon bun were mouth-watering and delicious.

This is a delicious little coffee shop - good smooth coffee with lovely lattes. Good choice of sweet treats for the AM and great amount of seating - including a small back garden.
O. S.
Hjem is a slick, stylish little coffee shop with the usual offering of Climpson & Sons coffee, low sugar flapjack and avocado toast. There was something missing for me - the avocado toast was bland, the service a bit indifferent. It’s a safe enough choice but I left feeling a bit dissatisfied.
J. H.
Lovely little coffee ☕ shop with great coffee and exquisite small type cakes. A little off the beaten track but a Great find nevertheless.
b.
They make the yummiest and the most appetising cardamom buns in London, always fresh from the oven. Equally their oat milk latte is delightful and the staff is very sweet.
A.
Nice and stylish coffee shop in residential area in Kensington. Staff are friendly. Food/ Snacks are way too expensive for my liking.
H. H. L.
Nice rear garden. A bit overpriced and the food is not something special. There are some books you can borrow from the shelf.
Bonus point: it is very close to many Embassies so that you can have a quick lunch before your appointment ( like mine)
J. H.
Rapidly becoming my favourite coffee shop in london. Places to sit in the sun front and back. Excellently made coffee. Good patisserie. Super avocado on toast. Wonderful atmosphere 🥰
R. P.
Almost too good to be true. Fantastic coffee and dreamy baked goods. Charming spot staffed by exceedingly nice people.
R.
Such an awesome place, coffee’s good, food is nice and fresh, hidden garden with few seats at the back and don't get me started with the cinnamon bun
D. B.
There is quite literally nothing better than a hot, gooey cardamom bun paired with a coffee on a Saturday morning from Hjem.
H. K.
This new idyllic danish cafe is super cute. It’s located quietly in South Kensington. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The coffee was pretty good, had an almond cortado. Almond milk seemed a bit strange(very thick/foamy) but a good coffee definitely. Had a very good avocado rye toastie, recommend adding a kimchi side to it.
The poppy seed croissant looks amazing. If I was not vegan I’d try it.
WiFi free which is good for a change. Lovely decorated in Scandinavian style.
A.
One of the best Hot Chocolates I've ever had, lovely staff, brilliantly set up shop, wverything nice and easy on display, well worth a little detour!
T. S.
This is a classy place. We went in to try out their coffee. We became so impressed, we ended up having a delicious lunch as well. This place has very very good customer service serving fab coffee and food. 10 out of 10 all the way.
M. M.
Excellent coffee and a lovely location, but very basic and poorly executed breakfasts. See below.

Great coffee and service
A. E.
Lovely scandi interior, friendly staff, excellent coffee and pastries.
D. N.
Seriously good coffee, had an oat latte Although quite small for my greedy (and caffeine addicted) a**, it defo deserves 5+ stars 😅
Takeaway only, so grabbed a cup and continued but will definitely stop by again when I'm in the area as the coffee was one of the top 5 I've had in London.
And I've had a lot of coffee around this city as never wishing to recover coffee addict.
J. O.
A simple but delicious menu and the coffee is good. But I do think that the coffee can be warmer when served. Very cosy and beautiful place with outdoor seating. A great place to start your morning or chill in a quiet neighbourhood. Wifi would be appreciated too.
F. P.
Very friendly staff and highly recommended especially coffee. Don’t miss it. One of the best in the town.
F. K.
Lovely small Danish cafe in the middle of Kensington, the staff is very friendly, service minded & Danish! The décor is very Scandinavian, minimalistic and cosy, it is very ‘hyggeligt’. The food is decent, however I was missing some of the traditional Danish open sandwiches, to complement some of the more modern once on the menu.
K. A.
I love the coffee in here

Best oat milk coffee in London so far for me. Professional and down to earth staff. Good vibes by the customers that drink outside in the sun during lockdown.
T. A.
Lovely cinnamon buns and excellent banana loaf.
W. C.
Great coffee, probably the best in South Kensington

Not too good. Not to good. They need to invest in proper cutlery/crockery and improve the service
B. D.
I came in last Thursday got a cafe latte. I was just randomly in the area and decided to get a coffee. I ordered my drink and sat in the back. I just wanted to write this review Because the girl serving was so amazing. Not only did she make my day but she made me smile and made my bad day better. I didn’t get her name, but she wore a very colourful headscarf and a big smile. The rest of the staff was very friendly and helped me out very well.
A. A.
Delicious food and coffee
A. B.
This is a truly stylish cafe in residential Kensington, where one can easily watch the world go by whilst sipping some excellent coffee or tea. Very friendly service, without being over the top! Lovely outside seating area which is perfect for the summer....but also cosy inside for the winter! Very Danish style...in this sense it feels like an escape from the hustle and bustle of London, too. Well worth a visit!!
O.
First and foremost the people are wonderful who work there, very friendly! The coffee is delicious, croissants and signature cinnamon or cardamom buns

L. U.
Nice friendly atmosphere, with a cosy feel and decent coffee. The interior reflects the Danish theme very thoughtfully done. Good amount of seating with a selection of tables in the main area and a rear section. The place to go if you're looking for speciality coffee in the Kensington area.

Great long black, very nice view from inside the cafe, peaceful with good and friendly service. They bake their own Danish rye bread. What's not to like?

Lovely little place on a gorgeous road in Kensington. The staff are lovely but it is over-priced...over £6 for a flat white and pot of tea.
