Reviews of Joice Cafe Balham
p. p.
Heard about this place since few weeks, so I went there with a friend last Wednesday, amazing experience.
We ordered Mexican eggs and the Turkish eggs, and to finish the French toast absolutely brillant, lot of flavours, fresh, filling, everything you will espect for a perfect lunch/brunch
Place is lovely, staff really friendly
I will definitely recommend it and come back again to try more dishes

Lovely place, lovely staff, lovely brunch 😁 strong coffee which is always a plus for me, and they easily catered to more than one buggy throughout our visit.
We had the pancakes and the Joice special which were both excellent and well presented. The bathrooms were clean but they had automatic lights in the stalls which went off quite quickly unless you moved around a lot!
People were waiting outside for takeaway orders so inside was not overly crowded when we arrived at about 11am. The staff were all friendly and made the experience a nice one
Will definitely be returning!

Tasty food, peaceful setting, good service; definitely a joy to be there. I ordered the French toast that is served with pork sausage and bacon. Was really tasty and filling - I do think the French toast could have been made next level by the simple tweak of using a more glamorous bread. But still really good for the price! Coffees and juices are good too.

I was up in London visiting friends the past weekend & we decided to visit joices cafe on the Balham high road! Let’s just say I wasn’t disappointed! The french toast dish was beautiful along with the Mexican eggs which were excellent too! Will definitely be making the trip back.

This place is becoming a victim of its own success. A very versatile food selection is being served semi-warm and rather tasteless, items advertised as grilled are deep fried. Staff are very friendly (strong point, 5 stars) but one can’t justify bad food (2 stars) and standards visibly going down…clearly because the place gets at times very busy. After 2 disappointing breakfasts, I decided not to come back to Joice in the near future

Really love it here. All the egg dishes are are great. Especially the joice special. The team are very good. Would have got 5 star but not a great fan of the coffee… love the apple and ginger juice thanks guys

Very stylist brunch place on the outskirts of Balham. The food was very tasty and generously portioned. There is a wide selection of cakes/pastries on the counter as well - we tried the peanut butter chocolate cake and apple crumble cake and both were delicious. The only drawback are the staff. The owner was very polite but there were a couple of rude people behind the counter which unfortunately left a bit of a bad taste.

One of South Balham's / Tooting Bec's go-to cafes. Coffee is good. The cannelloni and cinnamon buns are take-your-breath-away good. Pastries in general superb. They need to try harder with the hot food - taste all their dishes monthly, better chefs - people will pay central London prices if they get central London food (this ain't it yet)

I would rate this 2,5. Great place with potential, however you have few things to improve.
Staff is selective to wear a mask. One moment you get served mask is on, next moment same person come up without a mask and keeps on chit chatting.
In service industry you expect to enjoy your time, but it becomes a bit difficult when person who serves you has sour face.
What we can tell about the food?
By the time clock hit 12:45 the place had run out of both bacon and sausages which effectively makes half of the menu unavailable.
We ordered eggs benedict and royale. Poached eggs were about half minute over cooked and hardly runny. Both of my eggs had bit of crunch (from egg shell tiny bits). Coffee was nice, you made a good flat white.
Overall experience was topped up by seating strangers at our table without consideration.
Ps. Ambient music is nice however music volume equaling humans speach is disturbing

The pancake breakfast was tasty (especially the scrambled eggs!)and filling the only thing is it would have been nice if the pancakes had come out a bit warmer when served. The fresh orange juice was good too 😊

Friendly cafe with good coffee and cake. Vegan sausage rolls very good too. However both times I've eaten from the hot food menu I've been very disappointed, they could do a lot better.
S. T.
Absolutely delicious food..so much so I purchased dinner with dessert takeaway after..wow...salted caramel cannelloni incredible let alone breakfast + pastry💯disappointed I could not try new Sunday roast which sounds delicious..I'll be back👍

Amazing food, fantastic team, very good quality coffee. Chilbir with Sucuk is my favourite dish. Best place in Balham area.

Was passing by and noticed this nice Cafe. Party of three including a lively toddler and a dog but was made to feel very welcomed!
The food was amazing and the staff equally lovely! Would certainly return

Cute artsy cafè with very friendly staff. I sat by myself at one of the sharing tables, had a delicious flat white and people watched :)

Really great local cafe! I love their Chai Lattes, can’t get enough of them!!

The pancake breakfast with bananas is a special dish! Great service & will definitely enjoy coming back. Great to have this place in Balham. Love it!

Yummiest brunch I’ve ever had. Need to go back several times to get through the menu as I basically wanted to try everything. Coffee was also nice and staff were friendly.
L. P.
Hot food is not quite up to the standard you’d expect (Underdone toast, overdone eggs). Style over substance. Hard to justify going here for brunch over the many many options in Balham.
R. T.
Amazing staff, tea and tray bakes!

I wish I could remember the name of the lady that served me but she was very friendly and I had a good time conversating with her. She recommended the Tropical smoothie which was yummy. I had the pancake breakfast which was lovely and was willing to accept a request for a substitute (I know this can be annoying sometimes). I thought the meal was cooked well, great service and was clean. All in all a pleasant experience and I have shared my time there with a few of my friends.

Brilliant food and service from Ina our efficient abs friendly server. Definitely going back to Joice Balham especially to see Ina and her smiling eyes.

Great place to have a brunch with your family and friends. Nice and friendly service and delicious food. The red velvet cake is to die for. We will be back.

Fabulous local place with excellent range, friendly employees and delicous food

Having worked as a coffee shop manager in the past, I could easily recognise an excellent staff. The coffee shop is always clean, well displayed, and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere. Ina and Ali stand out so far from the ability to quickly build a rapport with a customer. Well done, keep it up and look after your staff as they are your biggest strength so far, JOICE! 😊
C. B.
love this place. great food, best coffee, fabulous atmosphere... never anything but happy vibes! my go to every weekend and most week days, when I get the chance;))

I went to Joice cafe and I can't be happier to have tried it. The staff was so lovely and kind and the quality of the coffee is really good! I really recommend going there if you want to spend a nice and quiet morning drinking a nice coffee and eating one of their tasty cakes. I will come back for sure! Thank you 😊

Our new local weekend brunches and coffee.

got a takeaway caesar salad and whilst it was kind of nice, I was pretty disappointed with the portion size for £9. Much better off getting a Prett salad for half the price.

I just discovered this place that has recently opened.Very nicely decorated..Fresh and delicious food.Amazing homemade organic cakes,I would especially recommend san sebastian cheese cake and Oreo cake.
Above all ,as a coffee person ,I can say their organic coffee is the best in town.

We went as a group of 8 to Joice Cafe in Balham. The staff were incredibly accommodating and produced fantastic food. It was without a doubt the best Full English Breakfast in South London. The coffees and cakes were delicious. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a brunch or lunch spot. Great, friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
