Reviews of Kipferl Restaurant & Patisserie
B. P.
I'd been meaning to try Kipferl for some time and wasn't disappointed when I went there for brunch today.
The food was authentic and the ingredients were excellent. The wine was well sourced and the service was excellent.
Hubert was a generous host who spent time answering our endless questions and making us feel welcome His passion for excellence and what he does shines through.
This restaurant has a lovely welcoming neighbourhood feel and I'm looking forward to going back to experience the evening vibe.

We stumbled upon this place by accident and choose to wander in because Austrian desserts are delicious. Kipferl did not disappointed. The food was fantastic and very nicely presented but the restaurant is a bit narrow so it does feel a little snug. It was very busy but we were still seen to in good time and overall had a wonderful experience.
T. M.
The ambience was very cosy and the staff was super friendly. Absolutely recommend a trip to the Kipferl! Growing up eating Austrian food, I can confirm that this restaurant is very authentic. It almost felt like I was there! Thank you! :)
H. P.
THE QUALITY🤌🤌🤌 It was first time trying austrian food for us, and he recommended really good dishes. And now I recommend this restaurant to everyone!
For the starter, we got spinatknodel and the kasekrainer and we loved it! I don't like sausage in general but I could feel the quality of it. Spinatknodel was also very nice.
For the main, we got Kasespatzle. The noodle was very soft and interesting texture! We loved it. I recommend it very much.
For the dessert, we got the apfelstrudel. It was also nice but I will definately try other ones next time. There are so many good looking desserts!😋
For two people, it was a nice portion to share each one and we were full. We decided to come back next week, and I'll add more here :)
I visited again and still very satisfied with dinner! I couldn't forget the spinach dumplings so I got it as a main this time. I tries the fried beef from my friend just one bite but it was really nice! I might try meat next time. Kaspressknodelsuppe for a starter was also nice. The dessert!! I loved how the chocolate cake was not too much sweet but has good filling inside. I was too full after, but kaiserschmarrn was AMAZING!!! I higly recommend it! 😋
I visited again!! This time, I had Kalbsgeschnetzeltes, and it was great but I think so far the first main I had was the best (me and my friend agreed on that). Also, I tried sauerkraut and green salad for sides and both were pretty sour for me. The first day menu was the best for me so far!👍
4th time visiting! I had to choose the best menu for my friend's first and the last restaurant in London! Starters: Spinatknodel and the kasekrainer, Main: Kasespatzle, Dessert: kaiserschmarrn. She loved it and we are very satisfied of course :)
F. K. (. M.
Absolutely love the place. Highly recommend the spinach dumplings and top it off with any of the dessert cakes. I had the apple 🍰 it was even more sumptuous than it looked behind the counter. Make your way there if you're in Islington Angel are. Your palette will be well and truly treated ‼️👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿

The food was so authentic and took me straight back to my student days living in Innsbruck. The first mouthful of Gulashsuppe almost made me cry! The SacherTorte was delicious and worth going just for that and a cup of coffee!!
S. D.
The best Austrian Restaurant in London :) The chicken Schnitzel and potatoes with cranberry sauce was amazing as well as the Kaiserschmarrn is absolutely delicious! The restaurant is quite cozy and the staff were super friendly and attentive.
E. G.
As my first experience trying Austrian food, I can say I thoroughly loved it! I had a full three courses of delicious food, including Frittatensuppe, chicken schnitzel (side of super tasty mixed salad) and Marillen Palatschinken (my new favourite dessert). The staff were also very lovely and made a very friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend! I can’t wait to visit again next time I’m in London!
S.
The food was fantastic, great quality of food and the portions are very generous. Loved the service - very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this place.
E. F.
Lovely late lunch of soup, sausage and bread followed by coffee and cake. When you can't get to Austria, come here. Our second visit and it hit the spot again. Best Valentines day I've had. Danke 😊
H. K.
A nice Austrian Restaurant, strategically placed, half way up Camden passage in Angel area. Food is Austrian - German, very tasty and quite close to the original receipts. Good beer and cofee. Superb Austrian pastries. Superb service by personel, with good knowledge of the menu and helpful recomendations. Good seating area inside with interesting Deco. Try to get a seat on the tables outside and watch the crowds go by.

We had a great time dining here. The food was very authentic, just like what I had when I was in Austria. The service was amazing, very friendly and chatty waitresses. Will definitely want to come back soon!
E. G.
Wonderful! I had the Bauernfruhstuck with salmon, and a cake afterwards. This was my first time having Austrian food and it was absolutely delicious! Such a high quality menu and EXTREMELY generous portions (and I have a massive appetite..). Great coffee. The waiters are friendly, professional and considerate, always giving us fresh water without waiting for us to ask. Also a cosy welcoming atmosphere. It’s my new favourite brunch place!
P.
If you want a place in London with a good and authentic schnitzel, then you should definitely try Kipferl. My chicken schnitzel was delicious, picture attached
J. L.
Good food. Best, unique cakes. Friendly staff, when they pay attention.
I would like to suggest serving warm bread in a basket. The top slice was dry and hard- it had been there for too long. Would be nice if flowers on a table weren't dead. I felt neglected while waiting for the bill.
K. G.
If you fancy truly authentic Austrian food, this is the place to come to. Wonderful selection of sausages, dumplings, sauerkraut, pickles, noodle soup, schnitzels (both veal and chicken) in proper Austrian crumb, served with lingonberries and potatoes, good selection of mains and wonderful cakes - the sachertorte was rich with a sharp tang of apricot jam to lift it and excellent dark chocolate icing; apfelstrudel was packed with fruit (apples and raisins) and almond inside a thin puff pastry roll; but the stand-out cake was the gooseberries, cheese and crumble concoction: a kind of topfentorte. Excellent selection of Austrian wines. Mark, the waiter, was attentive and informative. Hubert, the owner, was charming, patient and passionate, guiding us through his Austrian delicacies. We had an excellent and most enjoyable meal.
C. H.
This was our second visit to Kipferl and we were again delighted with the food, drinks and service.
From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we were exceptionally well looked after by the waiting staff who were very attentive to our needs.
I would highly recommend this restaurant and will be sure to visit again.
K. B.
I was at Kipferl with a good friend of mine, the staff were very caring, friendly and funny, oh the humour! The food was absolutely amazing, both of us cleared the plate completely :) definitely will be back, thank you!
D. L. G.
Definitely worth paying a visit.
Cosy environment , friendly and highly professional staff.
The food is exquisite and well presented.
The Sacher cake was delicious, their Kaiserschmarrn was a tasty and interesting twist on the classic recipe.
Will be coming back to try the savoury menu, which looks appealing.
S. W.
We love Austrian food so it's great to be able to get it in London. On our recent visit we found the restaurant rather chilly (A/C in December?!) but enjoyed the food. We'll definitely go again, once the weather warms up!
R. M.
One of the best breakfast/brunch places we've ever tried! We have been here several times and they haven't disappointed. The food is delicious and staff are really friendly and helpful. And let's not forget about the cakes, which are to die for! Definitely a restaurant not to miss!
E. L.
One of the best spots in Islington - friendly staff, delicious brunch and cakes and schnitzel to die for. Great wine menu. If you don’t have space at the table grab some sachertorte to go, you won’t be disappointed.
G. P.
At last! I eventually experienced the Kipferl french toast breakfast. My husband and I tried to eat here 3 weeks ago on a Sunday morning and the restaurant was so so busy we never managed to get served. Today was worth the wait. The best french toast with fresh compote on the side and so many more dishes to choose from. Thank you to manager who look after us today. I thoroughly recommend Kipferl in Islington👍🏻
C. C.
Really high quality food and cozy environment, so very popular among the locals that you might need to wait for seats. Bit it worth it.
T. M.
Decided to have my birthday party at Kipferl after having a a delicious dinner there two months ago. The service was amazing and the food was served at the same time, even though it was 13 of us. My friends loved it and it was a wonderful evening again at Kipferl. Thank you and see you soon! :)
B. M.
Very nice food and ambience.
The staff were very friendly and we have recommended this to others. The cakes and wine were particularly nice.
It felt like an authentic Austrian experience.
Y. S.
I'm sorry if you found my note offensive. I certainly do not intend to do so and I have taken the comment out. But please note this is not a fabrication and I reflected my experience - which sadly occurred more than once.
If you welcome feedback, you should not be resentful if one reflects their true experience. The point is to draw your attention to this to make sure you are more inclusive and pay equal attention to all. And I truly hope you do.
I do not have an issue with the waiters, nor the food, but surely I have the right to make remarks on a customer service. Best.Y
P. B.
Amazing selection of cakes, great coffee, and loved their home-made spätzle.
R. D.
If you would like make break from new age kitchen and would like to enjoy truly and traditional Austrian kitchen then visit Kipferl , Thanks Kipferl for nice dinner
A. N.
Delicious food, friendly staff and a lovely owner.
Kipferl is by far the best Austrian restaurant I have attended outside of Austria. It isn't easy to find authentic Austrian cuisine outside of the country's borders, however Kipferl truly hits the nail on the head. Everything we ordered was delicious, especially the Kaiserschmarrn is to die for. Not only are all the dishes nice, but it is also a great place to grab coffee and dessert (their cakes are all great, the Vegan Apple Cake is amazing).
I can only recommend this place, Hubert (the owner) makes our visit special every time with his incredible hospitality.
Can't wait to be back!
M. V.
Definitely a neighborhood gem! We were so happy to have dropped in on a Saturday and they were able to seat us right away. It’s a super cute place and the food is delicious. I had an excellent coffee, a drink called a Moose Dudler that was also fantastic, and a great Austrian beer (whose name escapes me at present). Highly, highly recommend
S. L.
I've been twice now in recent months and been delighted by the quality of the delicious savoury and sweet foods and the brisk, deferential and efficient service.
A wonderful place in a characterful ,bijou and historic part of London.
Highly recommended!
S. S.
A truly wonderful and unique experience in London! For anyone who already loves Austrian cuisine and everyone else who still wants to fall in love. Delicious cakes and coffee and all the traditional Austrian dishes you can think of. We go there about once a month and also order frequently on Deliveroo. Lovely atmosphere, cordial host and staff!
S.
Decent coffee and good selection of cakes. The cake I had wasn't that good tbh, but I'm sure the other cakes are better.
S. C.
A little gem in London. Nice Austrian vibes, cozy place, and great food.
R. M.
Having been covid-deprived of my annual trips to Vienna, it was so lovely to sit in a cafe eating Austrian cake and listen to the sound of people speaking both English and German. I live outside of London, so have used the on-line shop as well for Xmas cookies, Sachertorte and my favourite Staud apricot jam! Looking forward to my next visit to London!
A. R.
Absolutely delightful restaurant - great vibes during the day; bright, vibrant and then cosy and candlelit in the evening. The food is lovely - delicious cakes and great portion sizes for lunch/dinner. Gorgeous hot chocolate too - not too sweet! Fantastic - can’t wait to go back!
A. T.
Located along the picturesque Camden Passage, Kipferl is a modern, cosy Austrian coffeehouse. Plenty of outdoor seating, perfect for summer weather. The veal schnitzel (pictured) is well breaded and crispy; the topfenforte, or cheesecake, rich and creamy. Great service - the team are friendly and attentive.
A. S.
Absolutely fantastic restaurant with the friendliest staff! The mohn torte was the perfect finish to a late lunch after an absolutely delightful wiener schnitzel. 100% recommend a visit!
C. B.
The place is nice but when we ordered our breakfast we got bread and butter and bacon(as there was no option to just add eggs or omelette). And we got everything in different plates and the bread wasn't even warmed up ot anything it was just cut in slices and that's it, a bit unpleasant. They also didn't have any more croissants and it was quite early so I was thinking how did they run out when it's not even 11? A bit less professional than I expected and not much effort seemed to have gone on the food
D. F.
Lovely spot with plenty of hearty, warming Austrian dishes! The atmosphere is really nice as well with mellow music and decor. I've popped in a fair few times over the past couple of years for anything from a quick coffee and cake to one of their lovely brunch items. On a more recent visit I feel the menu has slightly changed and for the better? Portion size on my breakfast dish and others I observed around me felt larger and more substantially filling compared to my last.
E.
Great ambience, excellent food, coffee and cake. The closest thing to Hotel Sacher’s cake outside Hotel Sacher.
M. P.
Pleasant surprise and different to most brunch menus that end up being the same across
S. T.
Second visit here and we had an amazing meal. Tried the weiner schnitzel for the 1st time and was so delicious.
Sausages were great as usual 😋
The Brazilian lady who served us was so nice and friendly and attentive in the best sense.
Thavk you see you again soon!
Highly reccomended.
Ps if you've never tried Austrian coffee give it a go, it's lovely.
J. T.
We love it! Lots of eggs 🍳🥚🍳🥚and yummy sausages!!!
A. R.
The food was great, especially the Sacher. The staff were very attentive, professional and helpful. Some great wines, and very knowledgeable staff on the subject.
Home from home.
A. E.
Had a superb lunch last week (15th December), topped with the house wine and then followed that with the delicious cake and ice-cream with coffee. Attentive service, decent prices, delicious food and the atmosphere of eating in an imaginary cabin in the Austrian Mountains. We couldnt leave without taking extra supplies, of apple strudel, apple cake and of course Sachertorte. We all made a promise to ourselves that we will return in the New Year and do it all over again.
C. B.
Service as it should be. Exemplary in all respects. Friendly, helpful and discreet.
Good range of savoury and sweet dishes from tofu sausages and wiener schnitzel to Sachertorte.
Complimentary water served without having to ask.
Inside and outside tables available which can be booked in advance should you wish.
Very pleasant couple of hours. Would recommend.
I. L.
Delicious cakes and plenty of gf dessert options!
E. S.
We had a phenomenal dinner. The food was amazing, especially the schitzel was almost as good if not better than what you can find in Vienna! They have many varietes of cakes including Zacher torte. Staff was very polite and caring. We will definitely come back. Extra star for having Almdudler on the menu!
E. V.
Wiener Schnitzel and Riesling are great here!
Viennese coffee is really good as well.
a.
I’ve been in so many “traditional” places that end up being anything but not the country’s traditional meals, so I was more than excited when I found this place. Visited Austria a few months ago and missed their food and coffees. Amazing atmosphere and very welcoming and nice staff! Food been amazing and can’t wait to come back for more (and dessert!!!)
J. M.
Amazing Wiener Schnitzel, fabulous cakes and friendly staff! We will definitely go there again!
B. W.
Love the Austrian kitchen so similar to my native Polish one and schnitzel is perfekt!;) Nice cosy small place with some Austrian on site to help you with discovering quirks of their dishes;)
T. Q.
Great staff, cozy place, delicious food and drinks.
G.
Very nice place with good Schnitzels and cakes :)
G. D.
I ordered a Haustorte in advance, to be delivered on a specific day for a friend's 60th birthday up North. The cake arrived on the specified day, in perfect condition. The 'Happy Birthday' message was iced onto the cake beautifully, and I've been told the cake itself is delicious. It wasn't my first order I placed to surprise someone, but you can be guaranteed a gourmet treat when ordering from Kipferl. I will definitely bring a smile to one of my friends again soon!
R. L.
The cake was delicious, and the service was excellent. However the coffee was very bad, the venue was very cramped, the tables were so close together and offered little privacy and distancing. The prices were also very high for what we had.
D. S.
Menus is fun with a series of oddities to try and very reasonably priced. Breakfast was nice, but missed the edges in the dishes to really set them off (unseasoned potatoes, slightly dry French toast).
Service was very welcoming and a beautifully chilled out, friendly set up.
A. H.
Great restaurant in the heart of Angel. We sat outside to have quick dinner. Our waiter Mateusz was very attentive and we had a great chat. We’re defo gonna come back for the pumpkin ice cream 😍
S. N.
Sachertorte and coffee - the dessert was really yummy, especially the apricot filling inside the cake. Slightly a bit too sweet for my liking but tasty nonetheless.
J.
10 stars! Perfect for Winter, very Christmassy. From the moment I stepped through the door, I felt totally welcome! The waiters were extremely friendly and very professional and the food is beyond delicious. I had the Bauernfrühstück (w/ bacon and Frankfurter) and it may have been the tastiest brunch I’ve ever had! I’d also recommend the freshly squeezed orange juice. Next time, I hope to try some of those mouth-watering cakes.
A must go if you’re in Camden Passage!
L. K.
Great Austrian place in Angel. Been here many times, each experience just as good. Tried the apple strudel today for the first time - not disappointed, very authentic cuisine and friendly staff. Very busy during the weekends so would recommend arriving early / in advance as there can be a little bit of a wait.
E. S.
This is an excellent - and arguably the only authentic - Austrian restaurant in London. Fantastic food and great atmosphere. Highly recommended!
B. R. W.
Had take away cakes. Sachet torte is nice
T. S.
I found this cafe a couple of years ago and it has since become one of my favourites. The food is excellent, the staff are always friendly and the cakes are fantastic. 10/10, will keep visiting.
O. L. M.
The authentic Viennese experience. Delicious veal schnitzel 👌🏻 sausages worth a try too and definitely a kids’ favourite. Finish with a brauner, the Viennese macchiato.
k. k.
I am actually Austrian and I ordered the Mohnkuchen and Almdudler drink and I am impressed the cake was 💯 out of 100! Absolutely lovely 😍 ! I will definitely order again!!!
A. A.
The Tiroler Frühstuck (may have spelt that incorrectly) is so delicious - basically if you love breakfast come here. The atmosphere is lovely, coffee is great - I also recommend the hot chocolate! And the prices are really reasonable - significantly more affordable than other breakfast/brunch places in Zone 1 of London. Cannot recommend highly enough!
w.
Been to this cosy little place few times before and definitely coming back. Great food and feels like home atmosphere Thanks very much for excellent service.
D. C.
It’s great. No complaints. It tends to be a little crowded and the food does get a little pricy. Otherwise, the food is wonderful. They advertise that they serve “the best schnitzel in London” and it’s hard to argue with that.
G. I.
Nice food, good continental vibes, generous portions. Very popular so had to wait to get in with a group.
T. S.
They have hot drinks with rum in them in winter. That alone warrants a high score. But also all the other stuff is great - food, staff, little postcards.
M. W.
I love this place! The food is great and the staff is very attentive. We were so well looked after. I cannot wait to return.
S. M.
Excellent ambience and food (especially the desserts). Really feels like Austria and the owner is an excellent host.
C. T.
Absolutely love it. Authentic Austrian food and a great shop too where they also sell pumpkin seed oil.
K. M.
No wait for Sunday brunch, which was a bonus given that most places in the city have long lines. Lovely, busy atmosphere. Small tables and booths with couples and folks dining solo with books. Not really any large groups.
Brunch menu was decent, but nothing to write home about. Huge portion sizes, but bulked out with under spiced potatoes.
Coffee was delicious.
I
Service was slow, and food was slow to come out.
Managed allergies to peanuts, soy, and shellfish well, but I don't think they'd fare so well with a tree nut allergy (they have a lot of nut filled baked goods).
J. W.
I don't normally post reviews, but we had the most fantastic dinner here at Kipferl. Great friendly service and a lovely atmosphere sitting outside in Camden passage.
We especially enjoyed the Gulaschsuppe (beef stew) and Käsekrainer sausage. Schnitzel was also great - we will be back!
J. J.
Went there for the first time last week and we had a great lunch! We had a new server who was wonderful and made great recommendations. The food was really great - my husband had goulash I had the spinach dumplings. And lots of gruner veltliner. Loved it all and it's really nice to eat outside in Camden passage.
B. A.
Cozy cafe with good variety in the menu and tasty Austrian dishes. There are a lot of cakes, breakfast and warm brunch plates, and this includes celiac friendly options
The hotchocolate is a must have
D. C.
Austrian coffee house and dessert spot. They have a limited food menu for lunch and dinner. Both are very good be ready to leave full.
F. F.
Great selection of Austrian cakes and pastries and a nice little shop for lots of Austrian classic items such as Manner Wafferl, pumpkin seed oil, Almdudler a mountain herb lemonade, mustard for you Viennese sausages at ok prices
S. M.
Love the food & coffee there. Great Austrian experience. The desseet was just fabulous! Try a maroni!
A. S.
Interesting food. Nice beer and fantastic service
K. Y.
Authentic Austrian food served in a relaxing dining atmosphere and homely service. Food a little over seasoned but still delicious.
A. S.
Went for breakfast and left stuffed. There's a good selection of drinks including some unique coffees I haven't stumbled upon before - the cream atop an espresso was great.
The food is great and served in a grand manner. Don't expect to get a simple plate! The farmer's breakfast was served beautifully for a breakfast cafe location. Tasted likewise too.
P. G.
I get this delivered about twice a month on deliveroo and the quality speaks for itself. I particularly like their Goulash Soup and Bratwursts although to be quite honest, it's hard to go wrong here.
A. M.
Absolutely loved it! Only two of us but we had to have a selection of the cakes, which were amazing! The coffee was excellent too and the staff very accommodating! Thank you! Definitely going back!
S. M.
We went to the Kipferl yesterday for the first time and it was a really great evening, the food was authentic and really top quality, will be back for sure
G. V.
I love, love, love this place. The food is delicious and the staff is very friendly. I always leave this place with a big smile on my face. I highly recommend the Spinach Dumplings, all the cakes and the delicious Kipferls.
J. E.
This chilled Austrian style coffeehouse tucked away in Camden Passage, Islington is a lovely find. Good choice of indulgent cakes including a few vegan and gluten free. Nice coffees, dessert wines. I'll be back to try some of their savoury dishes soon 😋
D. D.
Best schnitzel ever! Everything was great. Service, atmosphere, staff. Thank you! We’ll definitely come back.
O. R.
Such a great place! The cakes are delicious, especially the Haustorte and the Esterhazy Torte :)
The pretzels are also 😋
The staff is kind and efficient.
A little gem in a pleasant street
A. v. W.
Food was really excellent, had the veal schnitzel that was really good and kaiserschmarrn was out of this world.
F. L. V.
Authentic food and great service!
L. F.
Fantastic cozy Austrian restaurant. Had a wonderful schnitzel, lovely Austrian sparkling wine and the best strudel I have ever eaten. Class outfit
C. W.
Absolutely blown away by this place. The spicy debreziner sausage with pickle and sauerkraut was just amazing, especially when paired with a lovely bottle of hefeweissen. Lovely food, friendly staff, I'll be back for sure.
G. E.
Nice little spot in Camden Passage. Great to sit outside for breakfast or lunch and watch the people and dogs go by. Very Austrian menu, lots of meats, breads, potatoes.
R. “. S.
White wine, red wine, or sparkling Wine? Why not enjoy them all together with traditional Austrian food. What can go wrong? Exactly, my point. We enjoyed amazing food, awesome wines, great service, and quaint ambiance. We’ll adhere to the advice of the Terminator: "We'll be back!"
R. F.
Lovely place for lunch or afternoon coffee & cake.Service was great and food came to the table quickly
D. T.
Lovely Austrian Cafe. Recommending their cakes. I had the special cake. It was lovely
A. L.
I do like Austrian cuisine and have been to Kipferl several time over the years and always enjoyed it. It’s a very cute cosy place in the heart of Angel, with all the best Austrian staples (frittatensuppe, knödle, spätzle, sachertorte, schnitzel, etc.) and friendly service.
G. V.
Very proper Austrian restaurant. A bit pricy but good food. The Kaiserschmarren (Typical Austrian pancake dessert) was so fluffy and very tasty!
V. G.
Great chicken schnitzel - big portion, worth £15. The veal schnitzel was small portion and definitely didn’t worth the £18. A bit overpriced for a cafe!
G. B.
Always a delightful experience! Best Sachertorte west of Vienna.
M. B.
Good food, amazing cakes and very friendly and professional service. More than happy to come again.
H. W.
Traditional Austrian mountain lodge meets Viennese café in a lovely part of Islington. Food excellent, staff brilliant, slightly lacking in atmosphere inside.
K. M.
Ordered a Sachertorte (along with a couple cans of Almdudler and a bottle of Riesling) in time for Christmas, and it was excellent, delivery was quite pricey but it arrived in excellent condition so cannot complain! Definitely recommend, especially if you're looking for some Austrian nostalgia
D. C.
Having been many to times to Austria, it felt like being on holiday again. Great schnitzel, friendly staff.
T. M.
Good food friend staff. The schnitzel was awesome.
L. R. V.
Absolutely amazing and tasty food, friendly service and cozy place. Tottally recommended.
M. b.
A wonderful restaurant with wonderful food and great service. A true taste of Austria in London. We will be back. (No pun intended.)
B. Z.
Only for coffee lovers, if you are in Angel and you are looking for a good and I mean really good coffe you must visit Kipferl cafe, the serve you coffe the right way and a it's properly made, and they bring you water so you can clean your palate, and this might sound like something small and simple, but when you do love coffe this simple action makes a world of difference to the taste, you have eaten something before you coffe, it will taste different for sure, do me a favour and try it and let me know what you think.
N. M. S.
Delicious Apfelstrudel and coffee, even compared to some of my favourite haunts in Vienna. Great place to stop when shopping in Islington.
P. P.
We went for the first time last week, and had a most enjoyimg evening,
the food was excellant and so was the service, cant praise it enough,
we will be back soon
A. F.
Nice food. A little pricey, but it is London eh?
J. J. F.
Great food. Superb professional services. Amazing cake. Reasonable price. Friendly cozy ambience bang right at the heart of Islington. Need I say more? Just go! ☺️

The atmosphere is beautiful, art work in the walls and warm wood throughout, with a view of what looks like a small vegetable garden out back.
My partner really loved her French toast and from the bit I tried I have to say it was excellent, the Mochas were lovely to and served in intriguing glass mugs.
Unfortunately my Omlette wasn't a winner, I found it bland and almost rubbery with no seasoning at all, the bacon on the side was tasteless to though that could be because I tend to prefer smoked bacon and this was I think unsmoked.
I'll definitely go back and given them another try sometime as there's some really interesting sounding dishes in the menu.

Delicious cakes for home delivery! Excellent customer service too.

Lovely restaurant, tasty food, delicious wine and great service.
Can’t wait to come again

If you want a slice of Austria in NE London then look no further.
+ Authentic food and coffee
+ Love the fact they have a shop to buy products
+ As tasty as being in Wein

Kipferl is an amazing little Austrian cafe on Camden Passage with delicious Austrian classics like schnitzel, sausages and spinatknudel. I had the latter due to being pescetarian but my friend loved the schnitzel.
Their cakes are to die for, Sacher Torte, Almond and Apricot and Linzer are my faves.
You can also order them online. Wink wink.
They also sell Austrian beers and wines. The beer selection is very nice. Haven't had a chance to try their wines yet. Hopefully next time.

Delicious authentic Austrian food. Best Kaiserschmarrn ever. Relaxed atmosphere
Y. J. C.
cosy cafe and friendly and passionate staffs :) i will definately come back again next time to try other cakes and dessert
S. M.
The food here is fabulous, we will definitely return.
M. W.
Lovely food, cakes and coffee all serve by the wonderful team at Kipferl.
We always enjoy our visit!!!
N. A.
The best coffee shop in Camden Passage. They have a really Bavarian atmosphere and their strudel is delicious. Perfect for breakfast or an afternoon stop!
R. H.
My favourite café in Islington by a country mile! The cakes are to die for, my firm favourite is the Sachertorte although there was a seasonal gooseberry cake which was divine (not sure of the name but I’m praying it makes a comeback!!) What makes Kipferl stand out even more is the incredible hospitality. The staff who work there are lovely and friendly and make the experience very personable.
H. W.
Amazing Austrian food here! The entire menu is absolutely fabulous and one of the most authentic Austrian restaurants I have found in London. Visited for lunch but would happily have stayed for extra cake and dinner if I could have. Would definitely recommend! Great for friends, couples, family, friends and anything else.
T. G.
It is authentic and well thought through with easy to enjoy classic dishes but easy to enjoy by anyone. The drinks list is great too.The only thing is to save some space for the desserts as they are a must in an Austrian inspired environment. It is good value too and not just a hipster fad like many others in the area. Highly recommended. Can’t wait to be back
R. T.
I am so sorry!!! I didn’t realise I did that it was a mistake( my phone is very old ) !! You guys are great ! I love your cakes .again I am so sorry
J. s.
Moving from Vienna to London I thought I had to say good bye to all the great food and people. Absolutely not the case. This is pure luxury for me. From the ambience, selection, menus, people to the interior design and just the whole atmosphere and taste. Awesome!! Thanks so much for being so yummy.
L. C.
What a find. Beautiful food, great customer service and nothing too much trouble.
M. N.
With the appearance of being a small cafe this place has a lot more to offer. The dinner menu is comprised of the Austrian classics which were well cooked and presented. Add to that a very decent wine list and a great selection of cakes and sweets and you've got a nicely understated winner.
M. J.
Cafe Kipferl is one of the BEST Austrian restaurants in London! The atmosphere is warm and cozy, and the staff made us feel right at home. The food was absolutely delicious, and perfect for a large group (there was 14 of us)- we were able to order platters of appetizers and deserts to share, and several tasty main courses individually. I had the Kipferl special with Käsekrainer sausage, which was wonderful; all of the food was very authentic and homemade. You must save room for dessert and try one of their famous Austrian cakes!
A. P.
Very cozy place where it's always pleasant to get a good and tasty breakfast. Dinner food and the cakes are also very yummy. Would recommend!
B. R.
I expected more - salad didn’t feel fresh, sausage & bread were very basic, overall had much better experience in Austrian restaurants
A. G.
Very tasty traditional Austrian food - schnitzel was tender and crisp and came with delicious sides. Good wine list too. Food isn't too expensive and makes a great lunch stop with friends. If only it was open every day!
s.
We had Desert and a hot chocolate. People beside us had full meals looks like Austrian sausage and a breaded chicken that looks like a chicken Kiev. Will definitely come back to try the food. Hot chocolate was not great it was actually better than expected but just lacked something I could have fixed it by adding sugar. It was melted chocolate and milk it might be the chocolate itself. The cheesecake was not creamy cheesecake it was the kind that breaks apart like chalk it was ok it had lemon in it which might be why it did that. It was not too sweet either. Strikes me as a place that treat you to good food without trying to kill you with additives. Just simple home cooked meals. They had lots of desert on display and you will definitely not forget the place is Austrian. The tables are a little too close together in the front I think they should take one out just to give their customers more room to shuffle out and give a little privacy.

If you don’t want to wait for the breakfast club... go to kipferl! Great little space with tasty austrian food. Friendly staff and great service
K. M.
really good German/Austrian restaurant. The omlette and the coffee were a standout.
p. M.
I made a reservation at Kipferl yesterday evening, to show off the Austrian cuisine to my friend from Canada. To be honest I was a little bit worried since I have been to Fishers before which was not authentic at all and really pricey. So I thought I give Kipferl a try. For starters we had the Frittatensuppe, sliced Pancakesoup. For mains once the Wiener Schnitzel and once the Käsespätzle. The soup was absolutely delicious and tasted as good as the one from my grandmother. Also the Schnitzel and Käsespätzle were amazing. Afterwards we had a coffee and one Apfelstrudel each. The Coffee is definitely THE BEST I have ever had in London. Not only the taste, the Barista is an absolute genius, it looked great. The Strudel was outstanding, even back in Austria, I never had one that good. Besides the good food the Service was on point. The austrian waitress recommended us a great wine. The whole staff was personal and caring. Already when you enter the cosy restaurant you're overwhelmed with the austrian hospitableness and the friendly atmosphere.
I will definitely come back, thanks for helping me showing off Austria.
j. m.
Nice restaurant, with good authentic dishes cooked well.
My only negative was that I asked if they had kernöl and was told no, which is a little disappointing for an Austrian restaurant.
Otherwise, a great place for lunch.
F. S.
Came in for a drink ended up with 3, a Snack and a Cake:) I think that says it all
H. C.
I visited this beautiful Austrian restaurant while on holiday in London. I had a wonderful experience. Not only was it delicious, authentic Austrian food with quality, but the service was outstanding. The servers were very friendly and personable which made it a beautifully enjoyable evening.
S. L.
Over the last couple of years we have eaten lunch here quite a few times. With one exception when the schnitzel was rather under beaten it has never let us down. Great Austrian food. Reasonable, but not cheap, prices. Recommended.
E. C.
Perfect place for afternoon tea with high quality coffee
J. W.
Their potato soup server with cabbage on side is thick and tastes exactly as my grandmother's bringing childhood memories. The place is small but never waited more than 15min for a table. Cakes are sensational and a tad less sweet than typical British ones which is a plus. An authentic cuisine speaks for itself. Highly recommended for a late lunch or a chat over a cup of coffee with friends.
D. T.
The cakes here definitely live up the promise of the restaurant’s name (“Kipferl” is Austrian vernacular for croissant)! And sample the wine-list: There are some real gems there at very reasonable prices... Will be back soon.
A. B.
Food is nice. But felt ignored.
When I walked in there was no table available, so I bought a whole Sacher torte, which was my plan anyway. Then I saw a table paying and asked if it was reserved. The waitress said no and cleaned it for me. QR code is not working for me (my fault I guess) so I asked for a menu which I saw on another table. the waitress pointed on the QR code. Really? Thx.
Two tables came later than me. Were served first, I wasn't asked. Ordered a starter (Spinatknödel was good) a Schnitzel and a side salad (would not have ordered the side salad, but she did not mentioned that there already is one on the plate, also menu is not mentioning it, both nice). Right now I'm sitting here on my own with my doggy bag, the whole cake and an empty glass, since 15 minutes I guess. And no one is asking if I want anything else. Or if I want to pay (the reserved sign was dropped of on my table before I got my Almdudler, thought it's not reserved.. ). The guy on shift is just a plate dropper.
G. G.
Kipferl is a great local restaurant run by lovely people who care about their customers. The food is always delicious, I love going for breakfast but the schnitzel at dinner is the best in London. Don’t go without having a slice of homemade cake. The Austrian cheesecake is my favorite, don’t forget to add whip cream.
M. S. W.
A fantastic Austrian cafe to visit for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The breakfast options are great and you get to select how much milk you can have in your coffee from a colour-coded menu with different shades of brown. The schnitzel is excellent and there are also a number of less well-known Austrian and regional dishes and desserts. The beer selection is also good
M. S.
Excellent, delicious food. An interesting menu. Would recommend
J. L.
Visited two days ago and it is truly a remarkable place. The guys there believe in what they are doing and deliver above expectations. Definitely a standout for the area. The cake that I had was hands down the best one I have had in a long while. Absolutely worth the visit.
E. T.
Fantastic Austrian cafe serving cakes, coffee and savoury dishes like I had when visiting Vienna! Get an iced coffee in summer, or a cake during winter. Absolutely great spot!
R. R. R.
A slice of Vienna is the middle of London! Smallish cafe and restaurant in a really good location. Just had a hot chocolate and it was really awesome. Cant comment on the food as I didt have any. Service was excellent - very friendly and accomodative staff!
H. T.
Lovely little Austrian cafe! We sat right by the balcony on a nice sunny day which was beautiful. I had a green salad as a starter, skipped main, and had a steam chocolate pudding for dessert. Both were well priced and the chocolate pudding, especially, was delicious!
Z. D.
We loved it here, it's an Austrian cafe and to be honest we had little idea what that cuisine entailed but I'm so glad we went! Kipferl it turns out is the name of one of their speciality dishes.
The food here is delicious, and our waitress was so friendly, kindly talking us through the menu and her suggestions. Everything she chose was fantastic, from the meal and drinks, right through to the cakes. The food was really different to what we're used to, but thoroughly delicious. We sat outside in Camden passage which was a nice vibe, chuckling at the queues for the place opposite and the breakfast club - both of which are laughably overrated. I would highly recommend Kipferl as a restaurant or brunch spot, we had the nicest time here and will definitely return again and again.
c. g.
Delicious food but no vegan/GF friendly. There were only one meal on the menu that I could order... It was delicious though. A bit oily but delicious.
As many British venues, the restaurant tends to be quite noisy so it is not easy to talk and hear each other.
S. B.
Today was my third visit, and having eaten and thoroughly enjoyed the schnitzel, I left humming the tune to "My Favourite Things". I haven't spent enough time in Austria to vouch for the authenticity of the food (although other reviewers have and do), but the menu is bursting with character (and dishes I can barely pronounce) and the food is absolutely delicious! There was also something warm and welcoming about the cafe and staff that made me feel like a guest rather than just a customer. I'll be back!
E. F.
So lovely to see Austrian dishes in London but (perhaps as you'd expect) there isn't much choice for vegetarians and because we visited on a hot day the front of the cafe was opened out on to the street but this meant some flies in the seating area and baked goods display. Really amazing kasespaetzle though - the best I've tried apart from my aunt's!
S. H.
Delicious Austrian favourites, lovely atmosphere and efficient service.
P. C.
I only popped in here for a coffee. I had their equivalent of a flat white which was excellent. Next time I will stay longer and eat as the apfelstrudel looked most inviting. The service was great. So glad I stumbled across this place.
R. R.
Nice, friendly place. Nice selection of food. Would have liked spaetzle offered as an option with more dishes.
A. V.
We went for dinner. Whilst the atmosphere and the menu are quite authentic compared to typical Austrian restaurants, the dishes were not particularly flavourful. Sure, being able to eat Austrian food is rare in London. And it's also pretentious to expect great foreign food here. As an Italian, I know all too well. Still, as I visit Tyrol quite often, I was hoping for great flavours, which were a bit lacking. The käsespätzle were bland. Texture was great, though. The schnitzel was good, albeit not served with herb butter. The knodels were ok but lacked butter. The kaisenschmarren was very tasty and possibly the best dish we had. Coffee was good, we had espresso and cappuccino. Prices are a little high. Overall, a mixed bag experience.
A. D.
One of my favourite places to eat. Everything tastes great but my favourites are the reisling wine, spinach dumplings and the French toast Kipferl style (part of the all day breakfast menu).
Reservations are very much recommended but there is often room if there are just two of you.
B. W.
The schnitzel was huge and delicious and the atmosphere pleasant and calm. The baked goods were equally amazing and the only thing keeping me from getting 2 is the price. I'm definitely going back.
D.
Really good to see Kipferl open again post lockdown. Lovely location in Camden Passage with some al fresco tables, nicely cooked flavoursome food (veal in
mushroom and wine sauce👍) with the wonderful experience of viewing and choosing your desert from the counter. And chilled atmosphere and service.
J. E.
Excellent food. We went to try capture a taste of Austria and weren't disappointed.
F. j.
Nice 👌
Downside - only card payments accepted when we visited.
S.
Went for dessert and coffee. The portions are huge and tasty. The pancakes are not the typical crepes, instead they are more like bread made of pancake dough.
The food looks amazing and will come here for a proper dinner soon.
S. O.
I had dinner here with a real Austrian who considered it one of the best in London. We had The Kipferl Special as a starter and the Wierner Schnitzel and Goulash for mains (both delicious and authentic). The meal was topped off with the Kaiserschmarren. Our server was friendly and attentive. All in all, a very pleasant meal!
R. T.
A enchanting small restaurant/cafe near Angel tube station. I had the most delicious Topfentorte (Austrian cheesecake) I have ever eaten. Friendly service and I was able to purchase a small selection of Austrian groceries to take home.
D. H.
Love this Austrian/Viennese cafe. They serve Almdudler which is really thirst quenching and make a great Tyrolean breakfast. Why not 5 stars? Personally I think the drinks are over priced hence the star knocked off but that's a personal view and would still highly recommend for a very tasty breakfast or lunch.
R. B.
An Austrian cafe & kitchen serving delicious and inventive food in great portions for quite cheap prices. They offer an excellent service as well thanks to a friendly and easy going staff. This place is highly recommended for your next week-end brunch - as their breakfast & brunch menu is absolutely delightful!
R. Z.
Esterhazy cake is really good. Käsekrainer is really good. What can I say. This place is great. Does authentic Austrian food for reasonable prices. If you like Austrian food then this is absolutely the place to go to.
D. D.
Food: it did not taste like in Wien at all and definetly it is not worth £18 for a smaller size Schnitzel.
Staff: I had to let one waitress through first when I was going along tables. Second one was just polite and nice.
Place:cozy with a good atmosphere.
H. G.
lovely place with delicious food and Austrian coffees.
E. R.
One of my favourite restaurants in the area - a cosy, atmospheric place with authentic Austrian food. You feel as if you’ve been teleported to Vienna upon stepping inside. The cakes and coffee are to die for! The Apfelstrudel (with some whipped cream on the side) is my favourite. The Käsespätzle are also delicious, as is the side salad. It can be difficult to get a table on the weekends, as it’s justifiedly popular, but it’s a favourite of mine for a midweek treat.
S. V.
When we came in we sat down by the window in the back but quickly had to change because some of the employees were smoking in the courtyard. We ordered a shared starter and a main but the starter arrived at the same time as the main. The goulash that I had was OK flavour wise but the meat was very tough and dry, I think it was a very lean cut of beaf that had almost no flavour. Sadly, there was almost no sauce (maybe a 4 tablespoons), this exacerbated dryness of the meat even more. The side was the same for all three plates - single under-ripen tomato cut in half and some leaf salad. I know this is a normal in central Europe but give me a break, pair your side with the dish or just don't do it. Other dishes were passable but I would not return for food in the future, definitely did not feel it justified the cost.
P. R.
Nice, fresh food & delicious cakes. A few items missing from the menu during our visit, sadly. But the alternatives were very good. The Sachet was the main attraction for me. Whilst it did r disappoint, it wasn't as chocolatey as I remember but it was moist with the right amount of jam. It's also in a great location.
A. G.
Very tasty traditional Austrian food - schnitzel was tender and crisp and came with delicious sides. Good wine list too. Food isn't too expensive and makes a great lunch stop with friends. If only it was open every day!

Best strudel I've had in a really, really long time!! Lovely service and they know how to make a good cup of tea :)

A fantastic Austrian cafe to visit for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The breakfast options are great and you get to select how much milk you can have in your coffee from a colour-coded menu with different shades of brown. The schnitzel is …

Lovely place. Stopped for a late Sunday breakfast, tasted great.
B. W.
The schnitzel was huge and delicious and the atmosphere pleasant and calm. The baked goods were equally amazing and the only thing keeping me from getting 2 is the price. I'm definitely going back.

Delicious food, friendly caring staff - everyone was so welcoming a warm. Authentically Viennese with a little grocery inside as well. Highly recommend!
L. A.
Amazing Austrian food and so authentic. The staff are friendly and happy to recommend items on the menu. Prices are so reasonable for the portion size you get. Couldn't recommend it more.
J. V.
The staff and food are excellent in this restaurant/café. I am a vegetarian and have no trouble finding food to eat here--their cheese noodles and green schnitzel with spinach are excellent main courses. For a snack their apple strudel and tortes are also lovely coupled with a tea or their vast array of coffees.
L. S.
Can be really busy at times but I like the simplicity and straight forwardness of the dishes and of course, if you like Austrian bakery - it's a must! They do what they are set to do really well - a nice stop for a coffee, a hearty goulash soup or a good cake or two!
S. K.
Staff were nice and food was fine; I don't have anything to compare it to but was expecting a bit more texture and flavour from the saurkraut. Also for the location and price I didn't expect tea bags and little wrapped pats of butter but maybe that's the Austrian style.
A. T.
Nice atmosphere. Very good coffee. Some cake portions small. Cakes about £4 mains £13 - £15 but quite a few light meals and breakfast under £10.
K. H.
When we visit London my wife likes to come to Camden Passage to visit the Wednesday antique market which invariably leads to a visit to Kipferl! The day we were here was to be coffee and cake but as breakfast was still on we changed our minds. So over a tasty Americano I opted for the Austrian Ham & Eggs whilst my wife opted for a Bauemfruehstueck with salmon. All ok with another americano to wash it down. Service was excellent.
L. A.
Amazing Austrian food and so authentic. The staff are friendly and happy to recommend items on the menu. Prices are so reasonable for the portion size you get. Couldn't recommend it more.
R. R.
Great food, service and wine
S. S.
Amazinggg! Came just on the day I needed. And it was the best sacher torte cake ever. It's authentic (coming from an italian)! That's very picky with cakes. Honestly so wonderful
j. m.
Great food, great service. Somewhat expensive but very authentic Austrian food.
E. O.
The Linzer Torte was simply amazing. I got one as I didn't have time to prepare dessert for a family gathering and everyone loved it. I got a lot of compliments and was really embarrassed when I had to explain I'd bought it. Everyone had a second serving and I had to go back the next day to get another as I didn't manage to try it. I won't say how many pieces I had to compensate as I'm still ashamed if myself. It really was divine. The second time around going to the cafe, I decided to have a latte in and really enjoyed the atmosphere - it's a lovely place for a coffee with charming and helpful staff. My latte came with a piece of chocolate and water - such a kind and thoughtful gesture. I will definitely be going back for more Tortes and delicious drinks.
B. F.
Dropped in to have a cake and a coffee on a busy saturday. Seated us quickly, didn't matter that our party of 4 arrived over a quarter of an hour. Very good cake and coffee. Very much appreciated having water served as standard along with other drinks.
G. S.
Amazing food. Wonderful presentation. Great staff. Classic German food. Breakfast served till 4pm :)
L. P.
The schnitzel is as authentic as anything you can get in Austria. The strudel and Jewish apple cake are also amazing! This is such a great place to hang out! A true London gem.
P. 1.
Amazing food, highly recommended this place 👌
E. V.
We always wanted to try Kipferl each time we were in Angel... nice decor, friendly staff, great sausages imported from Austria served with freshly grated horseradish and potato cucumber salad, as well as nice rye bread. However the cakes were a little disappointing - we tried the Sacher and Moroni tortes. Moroni was overpowered by a sugary feeling and a bit on the dry side. Sachertorte was decent. Unfortunately it can’t compare with the real deal you find in most Viennese coffeeshops in Austria. Nice fast service.
C. M.
At off-peak times, it's possible to get a table without queuing. Service pleasant. Not cheap, it's a place for when you're treating yourself. Really lovely Sacher Torte (though with no 'S' because it's not made by Sacher...). Lovely coffee,.served nicely with a glass of water. Open sandwich good. Though it's the torte and coffee for me every time.
S. D.
I wasn't too sure what an Austrian themed cafe would be like but, it turns out, that just means it's so cosy it reminds you of chalets and Christmas. My flat white was great and came with a little square of Swiss chocolate (nice touch) and both our coffees also came with a little glass of water - why don't more places do this? Can't wait to go back and try the food.
k. t.
Quiet restaurant situated slightly off central London. Food was pretty average.
T. B.
Stumbled upon this lovely little place one evening when looking for a pub - very glad the idea of an evening coffee and cake won over the beer. A relaxed atmosphere, attentive service, authentic Viennese coffee and 'torte'. Would highly recommend as an alternative to a busy pub at a weekend!
S. T.
Kipferl is fantastic. The food is not only authentic, but also of a very high standard. I love coming to Kipferl as the people are friendly and I know I won’t be disappointed!!!
R. F.
Kipferl made us a three-tier Sachertorte as a wedding cake. It looked and tasted perfect. My aunt, who trained in domestic economy in Vienna, particularly praised the apricot jam. Beyond excellent quality and reliable delivery of this delicate cake, I particularly appreciated Kipferl's friendly, competent and patient advice as to how much cake is needed for up to 150 guests, and how to serve it. Finally, the price was very reasonnable. Definitely one to recommend!
J. F.
I'd only had sachertorte and weiners here before (they're good), but recently had breakfast here and their french toast is actually really good! Totally consider going here for french toast rather than The Breakfast Club, the french toast comes with apple compote. Lovely service!
E. L.
This Austrian cafe serves great coffee, probably the best I've had in London, the cakes are equally good and the breakfast dishes are very tasty. It's nicely decorated and the staff is very professional.
L. D.
I loved my courgette soup, and the manager was very kind and personable!
f. i.
This is a typical Austrian café, where you could taste wonderful strudels and apfelkuhens. It's located in Camden Passage, in the heart of Angel borough, two minutes from Angel tube station. It is highly recommended, you won't be disappointed. It could be very busy at weekends, so booking is probably a good idea.
D. D.
Delicious food, friendly caring staff - everyone was so welcoming a warm. Authentically Viennese with a little grocery inside as well. Highly recommend!
D. G.
This is not the way you make Austrian coffee. A Verlängerter is not the same as an Americano. My coffee didn't look or taste like a Verlängerter!
R. A.
Great little Austrian cafe - light and fluffy mountain cheese omelette (huge portion!). We came in for brunch on a Saturday and only had to wait 5 mins for a table for two (compared to the long queue of people in rain across the way at the Breakfast Club) - £20 for two omelettes with coffees.
They also have Viennese stollen ready for Christmas!
J. M.
I love Kipferl - always busy and a lovely atmosphere with good service.
The food is great and good value - try the sausages and spinach dumplings, there is always a nice soup on for lunch and a great selection of cakes if you want to stop for coffee and cake.
K. J.
Authentic Austrian food and great friendly service. My family really enjoyed lunch here today. We'll definitely be back.
R. T.
Really very good. Schnitzel, spaetzle, everything you could ask. A good place for weekend brunch and they don’t limit you to the breakfast menu either which is great. On a sunny day sit outside. Lecker!
S. T.
Hearty and authentic Austrian comfort food. Great experience and friendly staff. Only con is the space seems a bit too small for the number of tables when fully occupied.
e. e.
Usually very good food, especially the schnitzel, kaiserkreiner and kasespetzle (although it can sometimes be a bit inconsistent and the cakes are not great), but the staff is the downside for me. They're not very efficient and sometimes refuse reasonable requests (like having a plate of food in the cafe part of the restaurant) for no good reason.
M. K.
Friendly staff and good food. I had the Geschnetzeltes, the Stroganoff and the veal schnitzel so far, no complaints whatsoever. Cakes are sometimes hit and miss, but usually very good.
J. B.
Great Sacher Torte. Love the shaved horseradish provided with the wiener and potatoe salad. You can get Berliner Weisse mit Woodruff here too. Service staff are not rude as other reviews say, don't expect overbearing British politeness from German, Austrian and Dutch staff maybe? I thought they were great.
G. B.
Love this little Austrian Cafe! The cakes, food and coffee are all absolutely delicious and brunch is a joy. The staff is so lovely and friendly. Very authentic. Love it!
I. L.
Lovely little Austrian restaurant; very authentic with a nice selection of food and drinks. (They even have Almdudler!) Great place for an Austrian expat to be reminded of home, even if it's somewhat on the pricey side.
M. F. d. A.
Cozy Austrian café on a lovely pedestrianised street.
We were there for dessert only — a lush Sachertorte (chocolate and apricot jam) and a rich Apfelstrudel that brought me back to my days of living in Germany.
But I gasped and felt happy like a child upon discovering that they had Almdudler — an Austrian carbonated soft drink made from alpine herbs. I’m not a great fan of soft drinks, but Almdudler’s taste is so gentle -- something like a carbonated herbal infusion -- that it really gets me wanting more...
Should return for more Almdudler on my next visit to London, and to actually try the savory dishes that looked quite appetizing!
J. R.
Absolutely incredible food. Käsespätzle is to die for and the cakes 😍
a. v.
This is a really nice place. The service was incredibly friendly, the atmosphere was relaxed but very cosy and the food was delicious. its a limited menu but what they serve is great. And the cake selection is wonderful.
B. S.
Delicious, comfort food. Great flavours. Delicious wine. Lovely team. And in such a quaint location. Really brilliant experience. Highly recommend.
K. D.
Good for dinners and great food but last time I stopped by it was just for coffee and cake and the staff were less than friendly as they were busy with the restaurant. We were in no rush and demanded no attention but still felt very much like we were in the way which was a shame as Iv had some great experiences in the past. Generally good quality. Probably won't be going back tho with so many other great options in Angel!
D. P.
best Austrian restaurant in London, BUT there aren't many! The Wiener Schnitzel really should be a bit larger... otherwise, good service and nice wines
J. D.
I liked the coffee here so much. The menu was very big and had some interesting eating and drinking options. The tables are perfect for meeting-up with friends and having a nice private conversations.
a. a.
Spot on cake and coffee - and the wine selection isn’t bad at all either... my faves are the Haus Torte or the Esterhazy for a slice of old Europe sophistication
R. G.
The 5th star was for the service.. we ended up here because all other places were full and wouldn't accommodate our request for a quick 35 mins brunch. And boy was I surprised.
The coffee reminded me a bit of Viennese Central Cafe and soon I was reminiscing in my dear youth over there ;) .. food, somehow, Kipferl made it with a twist, or taken all the great recipes from the golden Era of Austria... It is..aweeeeeesome... more? :) I am not vegetarian by a mile, but this made be think twice about how good food can be without meat ... ( no I didn't ask if it was, gluten free and dairy free ..sorry it just didn't have any fish or meat)
I left the place with, not only gratitude for the waiter, who gave a us a reserved seat, by using some common sense (London seems to be losing, this the more we modernize ..for some reason, as if we are loosing the ability to deduce without machines) but also with a sense of satisfaction you could get after eating a home cooked family meal... will be definitely returning here.
M. J.
I went to Kipferl with friends early this week, and had a lovely time. The food was amazing, and the service was lovely. Will be coming back soon!

Very busy on a Saturday lunchtime. But we got a table for two okay. A large group next to us with only a few drinks and a few cakes between seemed a waste of table space. Spattzle was really nice.

Wow I went for job interview such a great place and staff are soo good and friendly
M. F.
My favourite spot to hang out on a sunny afternoon and have a Fritatensuppe and a Radler. Or to have Spinatknödel in the evening alongside a Gewürztraminer. Or to have a Tiroler Gröstel for breakfast. It does not really matter what you want or drink or what time of day, this place absolutely aces it. Heaven on earth outside of Austria. What stands between me coming here every other week and moving in for good is if they would add "Marillenknödel" to the menu. Leiwand.

Good authentic Austrian cafe. Nice place for an afternoon coffee and a snack. Plus the neighbourhood is very nice. Great place to spend a weekend afternoon, especially if you live nearby
G. J.
Excellent Austrian cuisine, generous portions & good service. Nice small'ish sized space with buzzy atmosphere at lunch.

really good food and coffees despite being unsure initially. they always bring you a little glass of water with your coffees which i love, i hateee having to ask. super cosy little place on one of my favourite streets in angel, they even squidged me in when they were super busy. options for veggie people too, lots of nice breakfast dishes and homemade cakes.

Really nice place - very welcoming and the food and the service are excellent. Typical Austrian menu. Our favourite place to eat in Islington.
A. A.
Fantastic service, lovely small breakfast place. Great feel like being in a ski lodge in Austria. The coffee was great but expensive.
J. C.
Best strudel I've had in a really, really long time!! Lovely service and they know how to make a good cup of tea :)
J. M.
Great service, lovely tasty food!
M. D.
The restaurant is located in a nice area and the ambiance is friendly and cosy. The staff is very friendly and helpful but the food did not convince me and I do not think I will come back. The price was too high for the quality of the food
O. L.
Very expensive for their deli sweets. Also I waited for ages to get served for a takeaway, I think they shouldn’t really do takeaway at all because they are busy and can’t cope with the number of customers. The staff was very inattentive.
V. M.
I had an absolutely incredible visit to Kipferl, enjoying the apricot pancakes and Sachentorte. Both are to die for - and I can’t wait for my next visit!
R. A.
Really love this place - brilliant food, a great atmosphere are friendly staff. Free wifi is a bonus too! It's a really cute cafe, and the tea and coffee is great.

Extremely tasty and beautifully presented food. Fantastic customer service too - shame they have such a high staff turnover. Very small and cramped restaurant too.
D. M.
Absolutely wonderful place to enjoy a great cup and pastry although it has many delicious dishes. I love the area known as Camden Passage...so charming! 🌷
B. T.
Slightly pricey but they have many authentic Austrian cakes and breakfast options. Lovely place for brunch! And the location is great.

A. A.
Charming, quiet lovely place. The cakes are top notch, the coffee is perfect, and the service is exceptional. I’m happy to live nearby a place like this.
A. D.
Esterhazy and cappuccino were nice but the sacher was a bit dry unfortunately. Close but not quite the Vienna standard.
O. P.
Very authentic Austrian (Viennese) restaurant.
It's also possible to buy some Austrian products.
Keep in mind that, just like in Austria, it may take a while to serve you your food. Oh, and leave a tip.
J. M.
Get the Sachertorte!! I go there specifically for that cake which I order and collect either for myself or as a gift!! They also sell certain Austrian products that are hard to find in the country such as Senf so check out their online store and then go buy it in person when you're nearby
M. H.

A. B.
Spent Valentine’s Day here, menu was small but good. Felt slightly understaffed on a crowded night so it was a bit slow
R. D.
Great lunch spot. Too busy that's cause it's good. Not too expensive. Fresh and good for breakfast and lunch... haven't tried dinner.

Great for brunch and lunch. Food is good, especially the omelette or the salmon and eggs. Service overall is good, but can degrade over the weekend.
J. P.

Ein kleines Stück Wien in London - a little bit of Vienna in London (:
Having lived in Austria for over 10 years, I immediately felt at home here. The staff are all bilingual and very friendly, and the food is absolutely authentic and excellent. All the classics - from Gulasch to Schnitzel and Spätzle - are available, as well as a large selection of Austrian desserts and drinks.
Would recommend to anyone from Austria feeling homesick; as well as anyone interested in tasting real, delicious Austrian cuisine!
G. L.
Food was decent, but service and attitude were poor and could be a bit friendlier.

C. K.
