Reviews of Monmouth Coffee Company
麵.
Great coffee so far in London.
Only 4 high seats at the corner and the rest have to stand up for ☕️
Near Borough Market & grabbed a doughnut from Bread Ahead with Monmouth Oat Latte.
It was really a good match.
Staff Alexandra was very caring for giving me a glass of warm water while saying I wasn’t feeling well. Thanks again🙏🏻
Met 2 nice retired guys from Surrey and Teddington and we had a good chat there.
L. T.
Big queue (like always) but probably the best coffee in London. Simple, not fussy, that’s how a good cup of coffee should be! The truffle is very nutty and earthy, quite strong with the cocoa flavour.
C. W.
Best oat milk cappuccino in London. My favourite coffee shop in London for over 15 years. Totally worth the queue.
Very cross with Covid as the charm of the place has gone - I really miss the big table in the middle which is now gone. Standing “bar” space but hardly anywhere to sit apart from window ledge. No high stools - would have loved that (hence 4*).
h. D.
The place has a special feeling + the coffee is extremely tasty and smooth.
If you ask nicely there is a secret bathroom ;-)
As I was extremely surprised about the taste of the truffles :0
And the service was excellent, it a must to try !!!

Why?
Why can't we always have a coffee at this Café, like it is supposed to be. Why do some people have to make it so much worse by giving us a great taste that makes us regret our last coffee orders?
Why can't I live in London right next to this place?
Some things I'll never know. I just know now where to go when I want excellent coffee ☕
J. G.
Definitely one of the best coffee shops/ roasteries in the city. Check it out when in the area! There is limited seating (a small corner bench that’s super uncomfortable) but this is more of a take out spot.
R. J.
Popular coffee spot serving delightful coffee and efficient service. Expect long queues!
*TIP: Queue's shorter if buying a bag of beans, plus you'll get to put in a coffee order for takeaway
S. S.
Excellent flat white, have to wait a good 10m in the queue to get a cuppa, but it moves quick.
S. T.
As always, Monmouth deliver. Great coffee and great customer service, not just in the shops but also in the office.
Very good selection of coffee for all taste. It is ethically sourced and of small producers.
J. W.
Best coffee in London, hands down. Really brilliant baristas, always super friendly staff, and the bean selection is brilliant. If you love your coffee it's the spot.
T. G. (.
Amazing cafe. I am a regular customer on weekends and ever have an espresso and macchiato !!!
M. A. (. ا.
Very Nice coffee to go , no seating areas
C. G.
Really the place to go if you’re a coffee lover. There’s always a queue outside. There are several beans to choose from for your drink and you can buy bags of beans by weight to take home. It’s easy to find on the edge of borough market, just follow your nose!
L. T. T.
really don’t get the hype.. coffee was bitter and flat, and tasted pretty burned and ashy
A.
Can tell the quality of a place based on the type of brown sugar they have. Approved! Always a queue, but good vibes and nice, smooth coffee. Have never seen so many baristas behind one counter ha!
V.
The locally roasted coffee beans are on another level. Service and atmosphere as well.
But due to the popularity, coffee drinks are made in a rush, and most likely they won't be great.
My pour over was good and the aftertaste was amazing, but it didn't open all its flavors.
Flat white was good, but again no time for Latte art. 😔
Overall, must visit place. 👍
f. x.
Love the coffee, best I’ve had for a very long time. Only complaint, they don’t do bigger cups! Would be great if they just charged more and made bigger sizes.
M. W.
Fantastic coffee, wide selection of choices. Menu changing weekly. Knowledgeable staff who can advise you if you aren't sure what you want. Whole bean or ground according to your brew style. As much or as little as you want, price by weight. Little bit pricey but very high quality. A great treat for me rather than an everyday purchase option.
S. H.
Wonderful coffee experience at a busy location around Borough Market. I had an espresso macchiato here, which truly brought out the best flavours of their coffee. Paired with great service and trendy decor, this cafe makes for an excellent experience.
S. K.
Popular coffee shop at Borough market. Nice coffee. Small but nice place for a quick coffee after visiting the Borough market. There can be queue. Don't expect a sitting area like that at cafe chains like Starbucks or Pret. The staff is very polite.
C. K.
My local friend recommended me to come to this famous coffee shop. It was tiny and packed with a lot of people. I ordered a latte with croissant. The latte is good but the croissant is okay. I enjoyed sitting outside even the weather is chilly and wet. :)
G. W.
The coffee is towards the bitter side. Some might prefer it that way.
L. B.
As soon you are around the corner of the market... you see this fantastic place, with several choices of coffee, the smell of coffee is lovely and fresh
If you are a coffee lover you can buy some of the grains to takeaway and have a perfect cup of coffee.
This place is not only a coffee shop you can enjoy some croissants, pastries etc.
The decoration is rustic and cosí perfect for the market.
I highly recommend to try this lovely coffee shop
If you want to seat and chat there is not many seats available
M.
Located just across borough market. Trust me i could smell the coffee from across the street. It's that good! The coffee is intense, bitter, bold, fruity, creamy..lovely! I wish i can drink it everyday :( people in london are really lucky to have this cafe in town. I'll be back again the next time i visit london!!
B. N.
Best flat white I've tried in London and the prices are great for an independent coffee shop . Very lovely staff too 😊
i. u.
This was my first time doing a tour of London. Alison who was my coffee guide at the Park street shop was very pleasant and invited questions. She was patient and explained everything about the different types of coffees. I highly recommend if you in the area you ask for her personally, 5 star treatment.
P. L.
Love Monmouth Coffee! The best Espresso in town. Got lots of brownie points when I bought some ground Monmouth Coffee Espresso home for my partner. Smells and tastes amazing. keep up the good work!
M. A.
Cappuccino + Fresh cream truffles 👌🏼 One of the best coffee ☕️ in L town. Worth the line
J. G.
Excellent coffee as always from Monmouth, bit of a queue at the weekends but moves fast and totally worth it!
M. A.
My favorite coffee. I can't resist the mix of the que, the crowd, the ambience with the coffee aroma spreading around.
This is one of the best specialty coffee shops around, where you can simply grap a cup of your favorite coffee drink and fall in love with it. Or you may get your best coffee beans sourced for those who appreciate snd distinguish the real taste of coffee.
C. I.
The staff were friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. The shop was very busy, but we receive our coffee order fairly quickly. We ordered the daily filtered coffee and it was good, but slightly more acidic than I like. Overall it's a very pleasant experience.
A.
If you like filter coffee then this is the place to go. It's their special. They sourced their coffee from single estate, individual farms. The beans I tried was from Colomvia, Finca La Loma. I quite like it, fruity but not too acidic. It's not a place where you can stay long to read a book or think, as it is always busy, filled with people who just finished eating at Borough Market, but it's definitely a spot to grab coffee. They don't have milk substitute, so not too friendly to people with food allergies. They do serve a small selection of baked goods, like brioche, cookies, brownies.
W. T.
They offer filter coffee and standard coffee menu (such as latte, etc). Latte was very good (no sugar needed). The filter coffee (columbia beans) was a tad too bitter for my liking. Overall customer service was good. A good coffee place to try if you are in the area. But if you are not in the area, this is not an attraction in itself.
P. K.
Really cool place for a coffee to stay or take away. They roast beans there, so if you like fancy coffee at home u can buy some as well (wide choice from Brasil, Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Ethiopia, Kenya, Indonesia)
S. R.
Coffee here is absolutely fantastic, I work just around the corner so we get coffee's here if we want to treat ourselves! Pastries are also very delicious.
T. D.
Amazing coffee, great baristas and fantastic variety of beans. More spacious standing area as the big table which used to be in the middle is missing.
Д. П.
Definetely one of the best coffee in London and definetely best Almond croissants I've ever tested. It's Magic. If you don't believe - just go and test! During our short trip to London we did it twice. For it we made a 30 minutes tube journey :) Also, it's a good reason to come to Borough market. We highly Recommend.
T. C.
Be mindful of the possible long queue. You can smell nice coffee across the street. The staff was knowledgeable about their coffee and you get to taste them before buying. They won’t rush you even there is a long queue behind you so you get to chat and understand more about the different coffee beans they offer. You will be guided to find the coffee that you like. I got asked to order takeaway coffee directly while buying coffee beans from them which was great so I could skip the queuing again.
M. C.
Nice oat coffee but not the best I've ever had. I did however but two small bags of two types of whole coffee beans. They were very good!
M. V.
The queue is always around the corner. This for very good reason. Some of the best freshly ground coffee in all of London!
A. A.
The coffee is out of this world, including decaf options, and this might easily be my favourite coffeeshop in London. The chocolate truffles always provide a great little indulgence as well.
Y. Y.
My fav coffee shop ever. Delicious smooth coffee. Excellent service (super nice lady taking the orders on the till)
B. Z.
Sizable line if you come on the weekend! Production line , order-pay-collect. Funny person collecting the payment doesn't know what you've ordered. The espresso based coffees are not bad and are made by experienced hands. However the pour over coffee is very rough, no scale and water is poured so carelessly.
W. L.
As this place is so crowded, it definitely reminds me of all the popular cafes like bluebottle in Seattle or Arabica in japan. Flat white is not bad, with a bit of acidity. Staff is friendly and I admire their dedications on making coffee business better. Just hard to relax with all the crowds.
L. V.
Long queue, excellent coffee.
We ordered a filter coffee and ice filter coffee. Staff took our orders while we were queuing. Well, it is fair to say that it is one of the best coffee shop in London that I have visited so far. Some people would buy coffee beans, although we haven’t bought any but the staff seem knowledgeable about the coffee beans that they are selling.
E. K.
Fantastic stop seeking simple filter and espresso based drinks coffee at Borough Market.
Friendly staff, high efficiency and great service.
Worth your trip.
P. V.
Amazing coffee and the almost croissant I had is way better than Dean & Deluca and Paul! The daily filter coffee (Brazilian beans) I had was simply amazing as well.
Highly recommend to stop by and grab a coffee and pastries before strolling in Borough Market!
C. L.
Crowded and always good for a queue. Coffee is very good and tasty. Try a croissant.
A. L.
Had a great iced coffee here, not exactly the kind of place I can see one having the room to pull a laptop out and work in, though. Lineup was long, but the staff were very efficient and welcoming nonetheless. Proximity to the market made it the go-to spot for the more touristy crowd, I imagine.
M.
My favorite coffee place at southbank. Don’t get scared if you see queues - they move really fast. Their filter coffee is a must! Guys are doing amazing job multitasking with 10 filters at the same time! Amazing aroma! Grab a coffee and head to bourough market for some sweets ;)
C. C.
The best single source coffee company in London. Coffee is a crop, just like corn, wheat, apples, etc. Most companies like Starbucks try to develop and sell a specific "taste" unique to their brand so that all Starbucks in Tokyo tastes just like all the Starbucks in London. But Monmouth brings you the absolute freshest and best coffee to be had each time you visit one of their two outlets. Of course it means your coffee will be different each time because each crop of coffee is slightly different depending on growing conditions for that harvest. That's why Monmouth encourages you to try a sample to see what you like best. You can purchase the beans (whole or ground) or enjoy a fresh filter brewed cup in the shop.
If you are a coffee aficionado this is the best in London. If you are just looking for a great cup of coffee, you can't do better. Highly Recommended!
S. L.
Love love love the way they sale the beans. Fresh market style!! Staff is very friendly. Coffee is great.
P. H.
My favourite place to buy single-origin direct traded coffee. Pro tip: If you queue on the left to buy whole beans, you can also put in an order for a regular take-away coffee.
D. L.
No cap, I last visit here back in 2016 and I can’t stop thinking about their coffee. Did brought some coffee beans as souvenirs but I should of bought more.
s. c.
The latte is good.Though is pretty busy here, they make sure everyone get their coffee .Really nice place, here also sell coffee beans.
g. W.
Round the corner from my office this is the pinnacle of takeaway coffee in my opinion. Far better than gentleman barista and the pastries are also excellent. One thing though and that's why it only gets 4 stars. It's not worth it if you have to queue. So anything past 10am forget about it. Its on the map as a MUST visit when in the London Bridge area but for regular coffee addicts it just ruins the whole experience. Sounds a bit snobby but it's a fact. Coffee has a ceiling and a 20 minute queue will sour the experience
K. L.
Fantastic place to enjoy a cuppa, croissants and watch the world go by, that is if you can find a seat. I highly recommend the Macchiato!
G. P.
I drank one of the best cappuccinos here in my life. I also tried their beans at home and was not disappointed.
A bit crowded and pricey but it’s worth it if you are into specialty coffee
M. I.
Went to this place late November. Cafe rather tiny, difficult to find a seat, once you get one you don’t feel leaving.
Great latte, yummy truffle and nice croissant. We’ll be back if we ever visit London again.
V. P.
Iconic place, amazing coffee, a big variety of blends. You can even buy coffee beans, even grounded. One thing is bad - there is no vegan milk. But probably, I was unlucky and it just finished right before me.
K.
I was a bit skeptical when told it was a life-changing cup of coffee, but 🙇🏻♂️ I submit. Wonderful coffee blew me away I had to get a second. Wide range of beans for you to select your perfect cup, got two bags to-go.
r. b.
Really great filter coffees (a Kenya and a Guate), lovely service (they don’t offer hot chocolate, which my daughter requires, but they improvised splendidly), great atmosphere, and delicious croissant (crispy and fluffy at the same time).
Really happy we made this stop and would absolutely return.
T. C. K.
One of best cafe in borough market. Love the vibes from the cafe atmosphere and the service was great, not too pricey. Beside coffee they do have bakery too.
Highly recommend to everyone when you're exploring around borough market in London.
Try it today mate!
L. B.
Great coffee, well worth the wait in line. If you are buying coffee beans step straight to the counter on the right. You can also combine it with getting a takeaway coffee to make it all a little quicker. A must visit for coffee lovers at Borough Markets
A. C.
The filtered coffee at Monmouth is my favorite filtered coffee in London. Long lines that form usually dissipate quickly, as people are in and out.
J. W.
These guys are pretty serious about coffee! The shop appears to have a loyal following of regulars - obviously a good thing. The staff is knowledgeable, efficient and courteous. Fast moving queues most of the time. Limited seating. Sometimes it's only standing room only. Top marks allround
c. o.
I luv monmouth coffee. They have a high quality coffee beans. :-) flat white is best coffee in this shop!! If u go to the borough market i recommand to go here.
J. L.
Great selection of coffee. It's almost the only place I get it from.
J. V.
Unbelievable coffee and service. Can prepare beans for multiple methods and staff are super friendly. Easily suggested particular coffee based on preferences and the smell is intoxicating. 100% would recommend.
F. B. M.
I loved the atmosphere, a very good place to buy your freshly roasted coffee and to enjoy your cup of speciality coffee ☕️.
E. C.
What a lovley coffee, served with love🥰
N. S.
Absolute gem of a cafe! Baristas are knowledgable and friendly. Beans were packaged quickly and very professional advice given prior to purchase. One of the best filters I've had the last few days!
L. S.
The only place I buy coffee from and it's opened from 7:30am. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and can help you deciding what grains to pick base on your taste.
The pastry selection is superb!
J. B.
Nice retail outlet, there coffee is good quality but expensive.
E. C.
Best atmosphere. Great to grab a take away coffee.
S. L.
Probably the best cappuccino I have tasted - just a warning, sometimes there is a queue. But it is well worth the wait.
N. I.
Best coffee you can have in London - a must stop if you are in Borough market. Highly recommend the flat white
D. O.
Incredibile cappuccino, perfect coffe inside and foam, right temperature, and amazing sweet and salty stuff like this, that come frome the Little Bread Pedlar, Bermondsey.
D. T.
Great strong coffee in London, probably the best place for it. The staff is very nice and they explain you every kind of beans they use.
B. O.
Good filter coffee. Was a bit wary when I saw them dumping hot water into their V60s rather than slow pour, but the taste is good
L. K.
They really understand coffee. Ask for the taste that you like and they'll pick the right coffee beans for you.
Y. N.
Went Saturday morning around 11 and the queue was not bad. Had a delicious flat white. Very nice space but wish it had some chill space to sit and relax.
L. M.
Awesome coffee, felt like home (Oz), you can tell a place is good when you smell the coffee aroma as you walk in, and is the same as some good cafes in Melbourne (Oz)
L. G.
Excellent coffee, and now set up well to avoid Covid transmission. Brilliant.
D. W.
Great coffee to drink in and also buy to use at home, great selection and ground to your requirements also you can sample before purchasing.
M. K.
Best coffee around! Great selection of beans :)
J. C.
Awesome and flavorful coffee - which I took some beans back to make my own :)
A. B.
I had a Latte here and it was the best latte I had in a long time so smooth
F. S.
Tasty filter coffee. While there's usually a long queue and limited seating, it's great for takeaway.
r. j. r.
Delicious coffee in fantastic surrounds. Drink
in or out. Friendly speedy service. Easy access.
N. P.
Absolutely amazing coffee and advice. I had their filter coffee. Also, the beans they sell are excellent. I bough Suke Quto and Fazenda Santa Ines. I did a coffee tasting at home the next day and both dwarfed the other two coffees that I had already at home by a big margin. Moreover, both tasted extremely different which is exactly what I had asked for.
S. L.
Love the coffee over here, cant wait to come back in Jan 2022
F. M.
Bought beans, coffee and pastry here a couple of times. I’ve been going to Monmouth for years, mostly in covent garden. Even when really busy the person I spoke to had time to explain the beans and give me tasters. I love this approach. The London bridge one doesn’t have a great atmosphere because it’s largely cold in winter; coffee is still great.
S. P.
I’d recommend the piccolo. Tasted fresh, warm and authentic on a cold day. The usual supermarket coffee espresso is strong and bitter. But this was more mellow and long-lasting. Not bad for a coffee shop, I’d highly recommend it as a meeting up spot to catch up with friends and family!
j. f.
I used to work near Monmouth and it was a regular haunt, but I've not had many chances to go in the last few years
When you have a very fond memory of somewhere sometimes going back can be a disappointment as the place is not as great as you remember.
No so with Monmouth coffee, not only has it hardly changed (why would it) but the coffee is as good as I remember. Given how in the last five years generally coffee in the UK has got better, it's great to see that Monmouth coffee still holds up and is worth seeking out by coffee lovers.
It's very down to earth, which is refreshing as some 'high end' coffee places can be a bit pretentious. This is just simple good coffee
C.
Really enjoyed the coffee here. Made how it's meant to be; a really refreshing taste compared to many chains. Made expertly in front of you, you can also see all their coffee beans for sale, of which their origins are labelled.
Coffee: 5/5. Fantastic stuff, I was surprised how great it was! ✨
Atmosphere: 4/5. Inside is small but really pretty. Not much seating, usually incredibly crowded; expect a queue.
Service: 5/5. Polite, friendly people who know how to make coffee perfectly.
W.
The best of original taste of coffee that I have tasted thus far. You can have a really nice cup of coffee here since there are a wide variety of coffee beans to pick from. This place is located within the burrow market so you wont miss it. Not to mention that there are ton of ppl lined up to order at least a cup of coffee anyway. The price is also standard... not too expensive.
M. S.
For the fellow Aussies.. If you miss the coffee, this comes pretty darn close!
A. C.
Great coffee here; its above the price you would pay for the size of latte you get but it is definitely something you would treat yourselves once in a while. I buy the coffee beans from here a lot and I must say I have never had such great coffee at home before! Just mind that the queues are really long during lunch hours.
T. F.
Great coffee. Attention to detail is excellent. Almond croissant was good.
j. l.
Coffee is amazing here, and the staff so friendly.
M. L.
Small chain coffee house. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Coffee not bad either
E. T.
Wish I had just gotten their black coffee then I'd actually be able to taste the beans but I got their flat white. Though delicious, I can't say if it was downright phenomenal or just good. Though my mom, who generally refuses to drink coffee, voluntarily took three (!) sips of my dad's flat white, so I'd have to say - they serve pretty darn good coffee right here at Monmouth!
E. K. A.
Love love love their coffee. I was not able to find beans more fresh and varied. That smell when you open the packages, long lasting and divine.
C. M. E. (.
Excellent drinks in a cozy environment with excellent service, and very flavorful, fresh-roasted beans to take home. The location is convenient to the fabulous Borough Market. I had an iced latte there and also bought half a kilo of Monmouth Espresso. The latte had some chocolatey notes. When I got home, I made some drinks with the beans. They're some of the best that I've had recently, with a flavor that reminded me of black-strap molasses. Would definitely recommend and will be back here in the future.
M. T.
Its rly great coffe for me and my family
J. M.
This coffee shop was recommended and it was amazing. Staff all friendly and the coffee was fantastic. Will be visiting again. 😊
B. Y.
It's a ritual for me to start my borough market visit with a cuppa Monmouth coffee. Always great, but be prepared to queue!
A. R.
Our go to coffee company. Especially when wanting to try a different brew. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable to guide us in the right direction.
m. a.
Very nice cafe , but seats are limited.
M. M.
Be ready to wait in line for a while (especially on weekends) but it's worth it for a decent filter coffee.
If you want a really good latte or flat white, I would recommend the Flat Cap cart around the corner in Borough Market. They're quicker, they use Bonsoy and they make better coffee in my opinion.
Q. S.
Wow. This is the best coffee shop I have ever been to, by far!
J. H.
I think they have amazing coffee. The staff are knowledgeable and know a lot about the beans. The staff turnover rate is very low - some of them have been working there for years! So I think the company must be good to their workers, and vice versa. At the weekends, the queue for coffee can be crazy long. But I suggest that people don't give up. Wait in line for the coffee. You won't regret it.
A. P.
Super busy, passionate staff, amazing coffee. If you do really value and appreciate the way your coffee tastes, then this is the place to go. If you just want a coffee and don’t mind the above, don’t waste your time waiting in line here.
D. B.
This is the place to come if you love coffee. It’s always pretty busy but once you have been you will understand why. The coffee is always beautifully smooth, the right temperature and tastes delicious. They also have a very good selection of beans you can buy and take home for that perfect cuppa. Enjoy!!
A. A.
Great place to buy coffee beans from they have different origin based coffee and they make excellent coffee drinks as well. Definitely will recommend to visit and try them.
P. T.
One of the greats here in London! Coffee is fantastic and the staff friendly and knowledgeable; the filter coffee changes daily so your morning pickup will never be the same again.
The space is large and open, yet almost always busy - there's often a queue but it moves quickly.
T. B.
Always pay a visit to Momouth when I'm in the area. It's busy, there is nearly always a queue but in my opinion it is worth it. You can buy their variety of coffee's as well to make at home. To do so go to the counter to the right and bypass that long queue. You can also get yourself a takeaway coffee there as well while you are picking the right beans for you. All the staff there are knowledgeable about not only coffee but of the producer's and farm's they come from. They are more than happy to offer you a taster of what's on offer if you want to try some before you buy as well. Fantastic service and company from a repeat customer for years.
K. H.
Lovely coffee shop near Borough Market! We loved the atmosphere, coffee, and service!
A. Z.
There is a long queue of people when I went there, but the coffee was absolutely excellent and worth waiting.
A. G.
Love the coffee from this place. They have a wide range of coffee from several countries. A hotspot for tourists from all over the world. Give it a try. A bit pricey but if you are a coffee lover then you won't mind paying that extra bit....
A. S.
Must see, drink coffee and eat crazy almond croissant and Broooowwwni👍
L. R.
My absolute favourite coffee in London! There’s a reason there’s always a queue half way down the road. Coffee beans are great value compared to a lot of other London coffee shops, and the staff are really helpful when choosing which to buy from their large selection.
C. L.
Perhaps the most renowned coffee in London.
Latte is smooth, pain au chocolate is lovely.
Always stop by and have a cup while being nearby, definitely will continue the ritual for good.
N.
Perfect place to buy coffee. I myself do not like coffee, However, I've bought these as gifts to my closest friends who love coffee. They tried and same expression and statements. Love love love. Strong, tasty coffee and there's a broad selection. I had no clue what to pick and London bridge Monmouth always happy to help and are knowledgeable and just quality customer service. Price for coffee can be alittle steep but I find it perfect as a gift.
N.
Very good coffee. Gets really crowded after 8am
A. A.
One of the best coffee here in London 😍👌🏻
C. M.
Actually worth the hype! Even when it's busy, the staff are happy to answer questions and offer tasters of any coffee you're considering. And both the loose coffee and drinks are great, of course. Just don't go here for a single-shot skimmed milk hazelnut latte :)
K. E.
Filter coffee of last Saturday was earthy with nutty notes. Almost no bitterness and very slight acidity. Very complex and enjoy full.
The place is indeed atmospheric.
Better to come before 10AM avoiding the long queue... especially if it rains.
Nice but expensive.
I. S.
The coffees are exceptionally good in here with a wide range of coffee beans to choose from.
I would recommend to take away, as it’s quite difficult to find a seating spot in here. The place is fairly small and often very full. We had to queue up for a bit to get our coffees, but it was totally worth it :) The staff was very friendly with a smile on their faces.
I would say it is more of a buzzing and trendy coffee shop, rather than relaxing.
D. K.
Love the filtered coffee! The aroma is excellent! Love how they change the beans very often so everytime I go I get a different taste of coffee from a different place in the world! The queues are crazy though - sometimes the line stretches around the corner. The filtered coffee is worth the wait if its not freezing out!
K. L.
When I first moved to London, my friend told me to meet her in the line at Monmouth Coffee. I arrived before she did to a line the wrapped around the building. I laughed thinking that this must be life-changing coffee....and it was. The drip coffee is incredible - I normally drink my coffee with milk, but I drink this coffee black.
The staff are also so knowledgeable. They can easily describe each coffee in detail with the flavours and aromas. I've also bought coffee beans to enjoy the coffee at home. If you're at Borough Market, I highly recommend starting your day with a coffee from here!

This is an awesome coffee shop. It has a wide range of coffee beans from around the world all served for you to take away or enjoy casually on their premises. It also offers an array of pastries - just perfect for that morning treat. The staff are very knowledgeable and can recommend coffees to try. Well worth exploring. You can also get the coffee beans to take away and make the perfect coffee in the comfort of your home.

Coffee for me is the best in London. Pastries also are incredible, the best I've had anywhere (including France) courtesy of the Little Pedlar bakery. The only reason for only four stars is that despite a veritable army of staff behind the counter, somehow they still seem a little slow to serve; there is always a bit too much of a queue. Fabulous product keeps me coming back though.
C. D.
I am so happy that there is such good coffee shop nearby. Always crowded with impatient customers waiting for the best hot drinks. I've bought freshly ground coffee beans and I was impressed with the taste and strong aroma. If you are looking for high quality products for your perfect espresso, this is your place.

Incredible coffee in a great location

I'm not really the best person to talk about how fab coffee is or isn't but this place is even great for non-coffee drinkers! There's always a queue (even on Saturday mornings!), the fresh juices and pastries are reasonably priced and the ambiance is lovely; homely and welcoming. During my last visit I had a lovely chat with a charming bloke who's been a regular for years and its clear to see why.
T.
Coffee chain in London that serves great coffee! No wifi but good set up with counters, high tables, and a big sharing table in the middle. Nice selection of baked goods.
M. C.
Best coffee in London. Decent seating, always feels busy but you're generally ok to get a seat as most people do takeaway. Really nice for breakfasts and coffee meetings! Absolute experts on bean selection for home brewing too! Super friendly and lovely.
G. S.
Yes you're more than likely going to have to wait... But it's worth it! Coffee packed with flavour with so many different blends to choose from. I'm a latte lover and these guys really know how make one. Perfect to grab and walk around the market, since the seating area is a little too crowded for my liking.
M. K.
the most lovely & fantastic coffee i have had in the city thus far. the line extends down the street and its absolutely terrifyingly long! however! the coffee is ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT! Importing fresh and organic coffees from around the world gives this cafe such a distinct and robust flavour in their coffee. Their hours of operation are Monday-Saturday from 730am to 6pm. Located right outside the bustling Borough Market, grab a coffee and head inside the market for a fantastic day!
A. R.
Obviously great coffee, if overpriced. I just wish they were a bit less pretentious about it. Once got a terribly condescending response from a barista for asking if they had non-dairy 'milk' (fortunately got a kind explanation as to why they didn't... from another barista). I hadn't been difficult, I happily went for a black coffee (coffee snobs may not know this, but one can enjoy both white and black coffee equally) - and don't get me wrong, I hate 'intolerance' trends as much as the next coffee hipster does - but there's no need to be a d*ck about something as common as not digesting milk well!
L. C.
Friendly staff, great coffee. Worth to take me 15 mins walk to find the spot.
R. W.
Long lines but worth the wait. Its not always easy to get a decent cup of coffee in London believe me. But this place is the best. I saw good reviews on Tripadvisor before I decided to wait in line. They do a very high quality pour over cup . Super crowded and located at Borough market. They also sell some pastries.
C. L.
Truly enjoy great coffee? Want to learn more about coffee? This is a great place to start. If you are just entering the world of coffee flavours these guys will be able to guide you through the jungle of flavours and their way of making the coffee picks out the tones really nicely. It's often crowded and if you're buying for take-away you can expect to queue for a while (especially on weekends) but they deal well with it. There are some spaces to sit down as well.
J. J.
Simply the best coffee house south of the river. No wonder the queue spills outside on the street every morning. They have a variety of beans how home brewing as well. Perfect for morning pick-me-up flat white or quick espresso after lunch in Borough Market.
t. b.
I knew I would like this place just by looking at it from across the road. The entire space was welcoming and open. There was a large line, but they flew through all of us to get us the coffee quickly. I went with a standard iced coffee and it was delicious. Kudos for using paper straws as well! If it weren't jammed, I would happily stay there to work!
L.
Arguably the best coffee company in London. Just outside of Borough Market, this shop is quite packed during market hours. But the coffee is definitely worth the wait. Have not tried the pastry here but though there is only a sparse selection, the brioche looks very tempting!
W. J.
My wife REALLY wanted to have her morning coffee here. I thought it was all hype. I was wrong. The coffee is exceptional. Reasonable prices for beans to take home. Friendly staff. The place is very cozy so don;t count on having a place to sit.
S. S.
They do amazing coffee, in bags as well as ready to drink. The queue can be crazily long so be prepared to wait - it is worth it.
However, if you are entirely intolerant to dairy and like a milky coffee don't head here - they only do full fat milk and no soya at all. They say no other milk froths as well as full fat which is fair enough but it really knocks them down in my opinion because of it.
Head to Workshop Coffee Company instead who are much more accommodating (and whose coffee is better in my opinion)
J. D.
Their coffee is out of this world! The best ever and I know coffee! I bought several bags to take away and have loved them all. They make you a tiny sample cup to try before you buy to make sure you like it. Such a great idea! They then grind it for you on the spot if you wish or you can just buy the beans to grind yourself at home. The beans are freshly roasted daily at their head office. All the staff are so friendly and knowlegable and are really passionate about what they do. I also had a wonderful cappachino and one of their devine (the best) chocolate brownies in their cafe. Don't be put off by the line for take away coffee. They are highly organised and work through it fast, without making you feel rushed. No names on cups here! What a wonderful place with such a lovely atmosphere and no gastly piped music which is such a relief! Several other customers agreed! Looking forward to getting more coffee from them. You can order online too. Wish I could give them six stars! (I went to their shop off Borough Market.)
T. S.
Truly exceptional coffee, both to drink in and take away. There isn't a huge amount of seating but it's a lovely place to sit if you can grab a seat. You can also buy the beans, whole or ground! the staff are excellent and even if there is a queue, it tends to get moving pretty quick!
R. H.
This is clearly one of the best coffees I ever have. I dont have super delicate palate for coffee but know enough to tell good or bad. I had chances to taste expensive coffee beans around the world, and I am sure this wont disappoint you. I make time to stop bu a Manmouth whenever I visit London. Should try Cappuccino and flat white with browny. So good. I wish they open one in my city.
N. T.
Sometimes coffee shops get a bit too snobby with their beans where their single origin flavours can be a bit much, albeit great in small doses. Monmouth just offers a fantastic taste which I could drink every day. That's really special.
M. P.
There is a before and after when you have had an almond croissant from this place: my new found love.
P. S.
While I lived in London I really believed I loved Monmouth coffee (as in their particular coffee, as opposed to the coffee house). I was always lucky to get it from a market stall on Northcote Road in Clapham, which in hindsight didn't prepare me for when I finally decided to visit their second-in-command coffee house in Borough Market, I was met with a queue out of the door. Ten minutes later, I eventually got a cup of coffee and it didn't quite taste the same as the market stalls did. I don't know if it was the experience of waiting (a common occurance for anything in London) or how it was made, but I was left feeling a little 'meh'. Someone smarter than me might be able to figure out how to make good coffee for an endless slew of people queuing out the door, but there's a strong sense the staff are overwhelmed (but hopefully over-compensated for their best efforts!). I'd always return, and it's still damn sight better than Starbucks.
D. N.
Pro:
Fantastic coffee and well worth the wait for a seat.
Cons:
The only con would be the bouncer hanging over your shoulder, constantly seeing what you’re up to.
I would pay not to have him there...maybe he just liked my phone for some reason...
He also insists that you hook your bag under the table - if you don’t hook it then you can’t stay...
A. S.
Really lovely coffee in an even lovelier cafe. Not the best I've had in London, but certainly the nicest in the area. It is a really nice looking cafe though, and they weren't short on breakfast treats like brioche and croissants. Drop by in the mornings if you can - on market days the queue in the afternoon is obscene.
J. L.
A fantastic little place to go for a coffee. Great atmosphere and the decor. The coffee is lovely and worth waiting for even if the queues occasionally do go around the corner.
I'd highly recommend getting a few of the chocolate truffles.
Spent a few hours inside catching up with a friend and it was a charming experience.
Highly recommended.
Z.
Love this place. We've been getting all our coffee from them for years. Never had a bad experience shopping here. I'll tell you a secret - if you want to beat the queue go to the right and buy some ground coffee or beans and you'll be able to buy drinks as well.
K. L.
I’ve always related Monmouth Coffee to part of my Borough market experience and can’t imagine one without the another ) The coffee tends to be really packed and crowded, but that is part of its charm, because crowds attract more crowds, but the coffee is extremely good and can be compared with some of the finest coffee breweries in town. I love also the beans in the coffee and how they are grounded right in front of you! The prices are a bit high, but I think the place is worth to be visited at least once!
L. W.
This is a fantastic coffee shop in busy Borough Market. A great setting, comfortable feel and really nice tasting coffee. If you're in the Borough Market area, I definitely suggest you pop in here.
T. R.
Great tasting coffee and in my opinion, one of the best around. There is very little space inside and has an exposed entrance - so gets cold in the winter months. Also advise not coming first thing in the morning or at lunch - expect a 15-20 minute way for a take away coffee
A. S.
I grew up drinking coffee in India and since I moved to the UK 3 years, I was disappointed with what passes for my favourite drink in most of the establishments across the country. That was until I tried what is touted as "London's best coffee". I wasn't disappointed with this aromatic delight that attracts long lines through the weekends. I love the simplicity of the menu. I love the strong, smooth coffee. I love the smiley, chatty staff who make you feel welcome. Most of all, I love how the place smells. Oh, you can spy the green door where "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" was shot by the corner.
R. C.
I’m going to start by saying I am a complete coffee snob (which is more a curse, I’m not proud of it), so while this review might sound negative, I wouldn’t have even gone for a coffee if it wasn’t in the upper echelons of the London coffee world so you won’t be served a bucket sized cup of burnt milk. Monmouth is one of the old school roasters so they roast darker than the plethora of new London roasters supplying the hipster cafes of the east, so you’re going to get a more bitter coffee which drowns out some of the flavours. If that’s how you like it, great, if not, London Bridge Grind and the Notes coffee cart in the market aren’t far away. The line here is a perfect example of the great British tradition of queuing, it doesn’t mean they do the best coffee in the area, but it is drinkable, which from me is a big compliment.
T. M.
I first heard about Monmouth Coffee through the internet. Most "Best coffee in London" blogs/lists will have MC in their top 10 so it's well known. I first visited the Covent Garden premises and then discovered the shop in Borough having shopped at the market a few times. On around three occasions the queue to get in was too long so we (my father and I) gave it a miss (to our displeasure as we are big coffee lovers). We visited the market on a quiet Monday just after Christmas and saw there was no queue this time so we went in for a coffee. When you enter the shop you get the feel that this is a proper coffee shop. You have a host of barrister's working behind the counter, making coffee and serving beans to customers on the other side. We ordered two cappuccino's. The service was very good. It has an old school, traditional feel to it and you get the impression these guys are well trained in the art and care about what their making for their customers. The seating is old school and very relaxed. It has that "cool", "quirky" coffee culture feel to it but you have to also be prepared for that because you'll not always be guaranteed a seat. There are seats and tables but they are not your conventional arrangements. We managed to find a side bar which we were content with.
We thought the coffee was excellent. We will definitely be visiting again and next time braving the queue but in all honesty the service is quick so you probably won't be waiting long but as they say - good things come to those who wait and this coffee is worth waiting for.
R. W.
One of London's best coffee cafes. It can get very busy in peak times with a queue down the street but if you have time it's really worth it. The pastries are also some of the best I've found in London. Highly recommended.
S. B.
Great coffee worth the wait! The almond croissant was magnificent.
A. C.
Without a doubt the best coffee in London! Very popular with locals and tourists alike - I can recommend the the lattes. Nice little cakes too, if you're in the mood for a nibble. At weekends it can get incredibly busy, and the queue is regularly right round the corner. That said, they serve fairly quickly - and it's always worth the wait. If you like coffee you mst give this place a go!
A. M.
I've heard people say “best coffee in London” and I would have to agree. You can’t get much better coffee anywhere than what they serve at Monmouth. Be aware that it’s well known that the coffee there is great so expect to queue for a while, but it’s totally worth it. Coffee beans are grinned and filtered of each individual cup. One side of the café is open the elements. I was there in the middle of winter, and they still had the side open. I sat down at one of their tables and admired the staff, still smiling and serving up coffee while wind and snow did it’s best to cool down the cups of exceptional coffee.
A. Z.
If you like coffee, this place is a must-go. There's always a huge mob of people outside, but it's worth the wait if you want to get your hands on excellent coffee beans. The coffee they serve is good, but personally I'd much rather buy a packet of coffee and enjoy it at home at my leisure.
J. T.
superb coffee. as we visited, there was quite a queue to the shop itself, building a lot of promise and expectation. The queue in fact was the only bad thing about this store. the staff are friendly, offering help and knowledge on the coffees that they serve, the milk is perfectly textured and overall leading to one of the best coffees that i have ever tasted
K. G.
I popped in here to pick up a cappuccino and a croissant at the weekend when I was working at Borough Market. Unlike others, I found the queue wasn't so bad - perhaps because I visited early in the morning. There's not much seating, but the space is very welcoming and they have heaters in the ceiling for when the weather is chilly. The coffee is excellent and I was also very impressed by the croissants - they are the perfect combo of soft on the inside and crispy on the outside!
R. B.
Fantastic place. No attention to detail is missed:
- Excellent coffee, consistently prepared every time
- Fantastic baked goods, from local supplier Little Bread Pedlar (the brownie is a personal favorite)
- Beautiful space, welcoming and airy
For coffee lovers it's worth noting that they do tend towards a darker roast and fuller bodied coffee. Always excellent and includes a number of fruitier coffee options for takeaway; especially the Ethiopians.
As somebody that used to run a coffee shop I am always impressed by the quality and consistency - and you can see the results. There is always a line out the door!
J. H.
Awesome place to have most delicious coffee in Central London! Different brewing methods on the menu also variety of beans to select from! Greek coffee available prepared in traditional way: on sand! Coffee Island: please, open more shops in London!
K.
Sublime coffee and lovely service yum..
B. R.
Far and away the best filter drip coffee available in London, and with the service and environment to match. The communal tables can get a bit crowded, especially on the weekends, but in my experience everyone has been happy to scoot over to give you space to reach for butter and jam. No matter how you like your coffee prepared, they'll be able to satisfy your tastes (unless you want a bunch of rubbish artificial syrups).
L. O.
The best coffee in London and one of the only spots capable of making a perfect flat white! Prices are similar to any of the big chain coffee shops but the quality is beyond comparison. Cakes and pastries are really top quality as well. On market day, I've queued for the best part of 45 mins to be served but not due to any inefficiency of the staff, it's just so in demand! No visit to Borough is complete without stopping here, I recommend to any coffee lover.
S. K.
Great variety of coffee to choose from - both for consuming on site and to take away. They also sell a big selection of beans, that they're very knowledgeable about. You can even get these ground very specifically for the device you'd like to use to prepare them, with them even differentiating between AeroPress long and short! This is my go-to place for coffee beans in London, though for an actual coffee... Black Lab in Clapham Common might just narrowly beat it!
p. t.
A small but inviting place to drink great coffee and watch the world of borough market go by. They have a great selection of coffee all brewed d you wait, the coffee is never left to stew! This place is always busy which tells you how good the coffee is. A must stop when in Borough market
A.
I love Monmouth coffee. Only drawback to great coffee is the crowds. Try to go early or weekdays. I usually order beans from the other hatch as I'm here so infrequently and the queue is shorter.
Z. P.
This place has one of the longest lines for coffee I've ever seen... but oh boy are those coffees worth it. Strong, smooth, silken with swirly latte art. They keep it quite simple here, there's no soya milk or even skimmed milk – it's whole milk or black coffee for you. The chocolate truffles at the till are an indulgent mini treat, so rich you only need one to get that flavour hit. And despite the constant stream of customers, the staff seem in their element – quick with a smile and some happy banter.
K. P.
I would literally die without this place. I buy my ground coffee from here every few weeks and they have such an amazing selection and the staff are all knowledgeable and passionate. The filter coffees they make are so lovely - queues can get a bit hectic though!
I. C.
Always busy. Good coffee. Must stop by if you are exploring Borough Market.
J. B.
Excellent coffee roasters and café! Can't fail... go!
A. B.
I was delighted by the coffee here, amazing presentation and even better flavour, everyone in the shop was ready to help and answer any questions with a smile, will be coming back for sure.
L. K.
Coffee is a marvel of nature. Should you agree, a visit to this little place is a good idea, despite the apparently never-moving queue snaking from the entrance into the street, merely providing a nice view of the market while you wait. The baristas know how to make excellent long blacks, on top of everything else. The florentines have insufficient cherries.
N.
Excellent coffee and beautiful brownie. Good place to rest in the market.
J. W.
I really like buying coffee from here. It is tasty with fresh coffee and delicious foam, they make wanders. I come here with my daughter who always orders ice coffee and can’t stop praise it. Anyway, we have also bought beans for home which have amazing scent. The only con about this place is that it is overcrowded and sometimes you have to wait on a long queue.
C. F.
Very good coffee! This is my second time coming and the queue is definitely worth it! It is also opened on Mondays, where the queue is much shorter. Will definitely come by a third time and more when I come here again!
P. K.
Best coffee in London! It's always busy but the staff work quickly through the queue. The coffee is smooth, not bitter at all. Not cheap, but highly recommended.
E. A.
Coffee so good that joe-hounds make a pilgrimage here for their espresso pours. After quaffing one then following it with a flat white (well, it was almost 2:00 p.m.) it's easy to see the deserved reputation. Want some competition? There's a stand or stall about every 10 yards in every direction around here but only Monmouth has the kind of line that shouts "we're the tops." Now HOW did my barista make the pour dark on one side and light on the other in the creama
J. T.
Amazing coffee, staff are friendly, and despite the queue out the door, service was prompt. I'd love if drink sizes was an option to get more coffee per visit.
S. D.
Loved the coffee. Best place to have some liquid energy to roam the market with.!
They sell beans too. A bit crowded if u want to sit in as there is very less sitting space.
E. T.
Wish I had just gotten their black coffee then I'd actually be able to taste the beans but I got their flat white. Though delicious, I can't say if it was downright phenomenal or just good. Though my mom, who generally refuses to drink …
T. I.
Awesome coffee. Because you go through 3 people to get coffee it can be a bit confusing. But coffee is worth it and stuff is doing their best to help you.
C. M.
Some of the best espresso I’ve ever had. Beaut location in the market! Amazing. A real place to take a friend who doesn’t know much about coffee!
L. W.
This is a fantastic coffee shop in busy Borough Market. A great setting, comfortable feel and really nice tasting coffee. If you're in the Borough Market area, I definitely suggest you pop in here.
C. M.
Actually worth the hype! Even when it's busy, the staff are happy to answer questions and offer tasters of any coffee you're considering. And both the loose coffee and drinks are great, of course. Just don't go here for a single-shot skimmed milk hazelnut latte :)
F.
Tasty coffee! Usually busy.
j. A. H.
Pistachio, hazel nut and cookies. I have diabetes now
T.
Coffee chain in London that serves great coffee! No wifi but good set up with counters, high tables, and a big sharing table in the middle. Nice selection of baked goods.
N. T.
Always a great drink and very friendly staff
D. B.
This is the place to come if you love coffee. It’s always pretty busy but once you have been you will understand why. The coffee is always beautifully smooth, the right temperature and tastes delicious. They also have a very good selection of beans you can buy and take home for that perfect cuppa. Enjoy!!
S. A.
This is the best coffee I've found here in London. They have a good range of different beans, all strictly 100% arabica. We choose them for our office coffee machine which works with coffee in beans, and I regularly buy ground coffee for my french press. Absolutely recommended!
S. Z.
Ordered the iced latte. Really impressive at first sip!!! Expect queues. Not many seats in the café. But highly recommended for the quality of the coffee. Pain au chocolat is nice as well.
D. T.
Almost always a queue, which can be particularly long on the weekend. Well worth the wait though. I find their flat white to be the best around. They also sell ground coffee to take home, with a wide range of beans and roasting styles available. The staff are knowledgeable and are happy to help.
A. M.
Definitely the best coffee shop in London. I don't know how people still fall for the big commercial chains when you can get the perfect cup of coffee here. The service is also top-notch and the queues move fast enough. Recommended.
A.
Delicious coffee with a perfectly formed milk heart on the top. Lively with every type of person and a place to buy many different types of coffee beans weighed out in lovely brass scales.
j. C.
Long waiting line, but managed to reach to their POS sooner than I expected. Ok taste of coffee with the view of lots of tourists including myself. It is a big business , just with coffee but it is one of the touristic attractions, and you are gonna be witnessing yourself standing in line as well. In one sense , it is such an impressive story that you can be included as a Londoner, in the morning, getting a coffee of Monmouth, at the borough market. I'd do that again at my second visit ;) Draw me a heart this time. not a full moon !
P. L.
Widely called the best coffee in London - Monmouth has a pretty big reputation to live up to. I'm not sure whether the hype is a hindrance though - I tried the coffee and expected to have my mind blown... I didn't. Don't get me wrong, it's really good coffee and I'm impressed with anywhere that will serve a Flat White in any size bigger than a small - but just not the best I've ever had. Plus I doubt I would ever stand 45 minutes (yes it gets that busy!) for any coffee.
m. d. m.
Probably THE BEST COFFEE i´ve ever had !!! Very friendly staff, must go when you be in London :-)
G. H.
Easily the best coffee in the UK, if not the world. I love the aesthetic here, of wooden benches and bare brick walls. The staff will guide you through a tasting of the various beans if you ask nicely.
B. D.
There's no doubt that Monmouth is trying to push the coffee level forward in London, but when it comes to espresso, they need to up their game on the pulls. I came here on two occasions, waited in an extremely long line and got a double espresso only to have it taste sour. The shop has a garage-style door that seems to bring in a good amount of wind and humidity which could account for the issue, but they should be tasting every couple shots to avoid this.
T. D.
Manmouth Coffee has very rich coffee. It seems like the employees really know what they are doing and put alot of effort into each cup! They even make heart designs with the foam. The line is sometimes very long, but not to worry it goes pretty fast. The workers are very patient and helpful with your order. The pastries are delicious too!
E. J.
Amazing coffee right in the heart of Borough Market. Busy & quite touristy, but worth the queue. Great selection of coffees that they will grind there & then for home brewing.
D. K.
Coffee at its best. I heard a lot of hype/buzz about this coffee shop. I was recommended this by few of my friends and I tried. It deserved. One of the best coffee’s I had. If you are in london and are a coffee lover then this is a must go place
D. B.
Cozy place with great filter coffee! Amazing ambiance
M. F.
The coffee's really good, but not necessarily worth the inevitably long queues. I always tell friends to get a delicious Italian coffee drink at the gelateria next door and save their queuing stamina for something they can't get elsewhere in Borough Market.
D. K.
Lovely place and good coffee. I think flat white could be a bit less stronger.
M. M.
Was excellent back in 2008 when the London coffee scene was less developed, but has generally darker roasts than most third wave coffee houses. Also note vegans and lactose intolerant folk: they only have cow breast milk.
C. C.
This was the best possible way I could start my day! My coffee was given TLC and I felt grateful for it. It was a bit crowded with the morning rush and my only complaint is that the pastries were at the back of the shop, which made it difficult to pick one out since I had never been and it was difficult to see the options from the line. I look forward to any opportunity to go back! I had a macchiatto and an almond croissant. It was absolutely lovely!
B. L.
Perfect place to get your caffeine hit before tackling Borough Market. Usually a huge queue round the corner for take away coffee, but you can avoid this if you are purchasing coffee beans at the same time with a shorter queue from the front window. If you manage to nab a seat in the centre they usually have plates of bread and jam to share! Without a doubt one of my favourite coffee houses in London.
I. G.
The best coffee in London and a must visit.
J. L.
Located in the borough market, It's great place to have breakfast every morning before work. This coffee is definitely worth the long wait - absolutely lovely. The staff is really friendly and always smiling. Excellent service !
S. H.
Serves great coffee as you'd expect. Got here at about 7.20am and there was a queue - always a good sign! Staff are efficient (and friendly) so the wait isn't long. Grab a bag of beans to take home while you're there.
C. W.
There is always a terribly long line coming out of this place, but for a very good reason. They have probably the best coffee in town that comes from fair-trade farms from around the globe. The size of their cups are a bit small so you might want to order too. Because they're so busy don't be surprised to get a snippy person waiting to take your order.
J. J.
THe best coffee I have found in London. The atmosphere is welcoming and charming and the staff are very friendly. I always see a line for their coffee and now I know why. It's the closest I have found to Blue Bottle Coffee Company in San Francisco where I go to school.
C. L. L.
The long queue outside is quite indicative of how popular this coffee place is. It's charming, pretty no-frills, but the coffee is fantastic. They sell fair-trade beans and a selection of yummy goodies. A lovely place to linger, for sure, and lunch is available at the Borrough Market just across the street.
D. F.
Very busy and clearly very popular but they have the handling of the queue down to a tee. V friendly staff as well. One of the best espressos I've had in ages.
A. P.
If you want quality coffee, this is the place! There are so many different blends. You can buy beans whole or grinded. Trust me once you have one, you will be going back for more! It is on the pricey side, but worth it!
M. K.
One of my favorite places in this part of London. Perfect to go there in the morning have a breakfast and an amazing coffee with some nice music. Staff are always friendly, welcoming and polite. Everything seems to price reasonably. Decoration is nice and improves the already great atmosphere.
M. Y.
The place is packed and seeing whole beans infront of you, with the smell is unreal!!! So great to experience. For people with kids or doesn't drink whole milk, you options are limited. They have no tea, hot chocolate, mocha and alternative milks. This is a place for coffee people only.
B. 2.
An institution! A must if you're remotely near Borough or London Bridge. The best coffee, the best croissants, pain au chocolat and almond croissants by The Little Bread Pedlar in Bermondsey. Fantastic truffles and florentines and a whole host of coffees roasted locally. Best to visit at your leisure. It's truly an experience to sample coffees and have them ground (or not) to your choice. The baristas are super friendly and super knowledgeable but never make you feel inferior. The perfect coffee experience!
C. M.
Some of the best espresso I’ve ever had. Beaut location in the market! Amazing. A real place to take a friend who doesn’t know much about coffee!
B. G.
This place is famous for providing some of the best coffee in London at a very reasonable price. Having stumbled on this early on a cold summer morning, I was nearly put off by the substantial queue. However after being persuaded to stay, I was pleasantly surprised by the knowledge of the baristas and just how good the coffee was! Genuinely recommend this place for excellent coffee at a cheap prices.

Best coffee in the world! Ive never had any better and im addicted! The building itself however is not so good. I feel they could do with a lot more space for seating and the que is ridiculous. The coffee is well worth the wait. The price is extremely reasonable. I wish they had a Monmouth in the Ukraine!
D. N.
I don't understand why people complain about the long queues. It makes sense to me that so many people want one of the best coffees in London! Great customer service! Absolutely love the atmosphere!
M. H.
One of the best and original independent coffee shops in London. The Borough Market branch of Monmouth is always super busy, but worth the wait, whether for their excellent coffee drinks, to buy some coffee to take home and make yourself or for some lovely pastries or chocolate snacks. Just be ready to wait a bit on a Saturday morning!
M. M.
The most expensive hot water ever. The coffee is good but it feels a bit like a rip off if you buy a long black. It is £2 for Espresso which is a fair price but £3.10 for a Long Black. They charge £1.10 extra just for adding hot water. There is no such an option on their menu so you will know the price when being charged. Baristas do not weigh shots, simple La Marzocca machines, the coffee should not cost more than coffee from Speciality coffee places. Please, rethink the price of long black and americano.
C. C.
Monmouth Cafe serves the high quality coffee and dessert. I do enjoy the cake in Monmouth, that could be the most tasty food I have had in London so far! So if u pass by the street and see this Coffee shop, just enter it and enjoy the perfect afternoon tea. Believe me, this Coffee will ganna make your day!!
M. S.
we love the coffee at monmouth coffee company, it is a perfect pick me up. tastes so fresh rich and yummy, they have perfect snacks and accompaniments. coffee beans you can buy to make from home. I highly recommend this coffee and coffee shop in the heart of borough.
D. T.
I’ve always been wondering, why this café is so highly recommended on here and finally decided to give it a try..and oh, boy, why have I waited so long to do it???!! It is soo totally worth! The coffee is of such a quality that once you sample some of it..you will be back again..asking for more! Just beware that the crowds may really become enormous, especially on the Saturdays, as it is close on Sunday and that may spoil your experience, so if you are living in London, my advice is to choose another day of the week and enjoy it!
N. B.
Still a very good coffee but they are no more offering the unlimited baguette bread, butter, orgsnic fantastic jams & marmalade or honey breakfast. I was so disappointed! Ouch no more yummy breakfast :( lol can we sign a petition for have it back also at £10 instead of 5.50?
You can buy fresh grounded coffee from different parts of the world.
N. F.
The very first place that make me appreciate my coffee more. First time I was here was perhaps 5 years back, living just round the corner in Borough. I bought my first beans from here as well.
Though its getting too crowded for my liking, Monmouth will never leave my palette. Let's not forget it was Monmouth beans I brought to Delhi and got me through my 2.5 years coffee dessert there.
T. T.
A haven for lovers of good quality coffe! Monmouth coffee is top notch. Service is fantastic and the cafe has a good selection of food for those needing a bite to eat.Not a coffee snob, but my favourite coffee place in London!
A. W. C.
Great place to buy good coffee beans - they allow you to bring your own bag as well if you are trying to avoid waste. They source and roast their own beans and provide information on each farm they work with.
C. G.
This has to be one of the best coffees I have ever had. Staff friendly and ensuring you get served as quickly as possible. Great place to pick up a coffee and wander through the market
K. M.
Fantastic place to have a cup of coffee or buy beans from their wide selection. They can grind the beans for how you make the coffee e.g. stove top, cafetieres, filter. Just be aware that the price of beans can differ so don't get stung with a really expensive bag of coffee unless you mean to do so.
P. R.
The one. The only. Still the best coffee you can find in London. And with the added benefit of ordering your perfectly made, magically pulled shot from the best organised shop in the business. The Borough Market store functions like a well oiled machine: you know where to order, where to pay and where to collect. Every other coffee shop (and every other Monmouth) should take note!
G. S.
Definitely my favourite coffee in London. Often with a big queue but it's worth the wait! I can't wait to get my flat white after a lunch at borough market. A must!
I. A.
The best coffee in London by far!
R. X.
Cool atmosphere and a great place to grab a coffee for take away or to sit and relax in there location. The coffee is not only speedy, but tastes great! Also the staff is extremely nice and friendly. The cappuchino is fantastic and hits the spot on a cloudy day.
S. K.
Great selections of coffee beans to buy and comprehensive explanation of different types of beans. When you purchase, you also get a leaflet. Coffee beans are more affordable compared to actual coffee.
X. S.
Good coffee with nice array of options. Generally more consistent than most other coffee shops so that's a big plus and a thumbs up to their barristers.
A. A.
Best coffee in London, beautiful pastries and goods, incredibly knowledgeable staff - and always happy to help. Hard to find a seat and often queues, but that just shows how special this place is! :) No wifi (although some may be able to access the BT street wifi), and not very laptop friendly - nice place to meet and chat with strangers!
C. T.
Monmouth Coffee by Borough Market is incredibly busy on the weekend that the market runs. It's still lovely though. With much more of an open front, it's less cosy than its Monmouth Street counterpart. It makes equally great coffee and makes a great spot, though it's chilly on a cold day and is equally hard to get a seat in. A great quality spot that doesn't just rely on footfall, it also makes really great coffee.
S. G.
Lovely place in Borough market for a caffeine fix. Don't be too put off by the queue - the coffee is worth it and the friendly staff works quickly. The cappuccino and flat white are my favourites !
M. J.
Monmouth is actually THE best coffee place in London! They make it right in front of you, filter and everything, always have multiple different coffee bean varieties, and everything is always delicious. Excellent location if you want to pop over to Borough Market for a treat/meal afterwards! Would definitely recommend Monmouth!
A. S.
Best coffee in London and always start a day out in the city from here. Good service and nice vibe. Favourite is the rasberry jam on a croissant with a flat white. Also bought coffee beans so I can have monmouth coffee whenever I want! Highly recommended.
L. E.
Perfect flat white delivering a caffeine kick with lovely creamy milk. The espresso blend for the home machine has a permanent place in my kitchen. The queues are a bit manic but you can't blame people for having taste. An absolute gem.
M. K.
The wait was long, but it went by quick. Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable. The drinks were exceptional. There wasn't enough seating for me to experience the all you can eat bread section, but the people there looked like they were in carb heaven.
K. C.
Great coffee, we went on a day with a busy day but the service was quick and the 4 of us got served quite quickly. I got a white Americano, it was really good, full of favour whilst my friends all got cappucinos. Would really recommend to others, the price was very reasonable for the quality as well.
S. S.
The place is a very famous stop for all the crazy shoppers at the Market, but not limited to just them..because many locals swear that the coffee here is phenomenal and you will never taste something like that anywhere else! I don’t know if I can claim the same..because it was way too overcrowded, when I ordered my cup of joy and I thought that it could be bigger than what I got, but it is worth the experience, for sure!
P. P.
Coffee is quite strong and I like ice latte.
J. P.
I always get a latte before going to work during the week. In my opinion, it's still the best coffee in south London. The staff are super friendly. Also, the pastries are delicious and flaky.
S. P.
Great coffee in London 👍
G. H.
My favourite coffee place in Borough Market. Situated on the corner of Park Street and Stoney Street, Monmouth is a Borough institution. The coffee is excellent and fairly priced, the staff friendly. The only negative is the queues on Saturday, when tourists and other visitors flock to the market.
J. M. P.
In a sentence: It's really overhyped but no question the beans are great.
Particularly when it's busy (read: every single weekend) you will probably find yourself disappointed with the quality of your coffee when you take away.
Worth stopping by if they are not that busy, or to stock up on some beans
C. M.
love this place !!! An excellent place to have a coffee during the week specially when the Market is close (Borough market) because you get a place to seat. It is so busy that the queue goes until the corner but it is really worth it to stay in the queue and have this delicious coffee (with a chocolate truffel for £1) By the way, the queue goes very fast as the service system is excellent and the crew are very friendly xxx
N.
Perfect place to buy coffee. I myself do not like coffee, However, I've bought these as gifts to my closest friends who love coffee. They tried and same expression and statements. Love love love. Strong, tasty coffee and there's a broad …
P. T.
One of the greats here in London! Coffee is fantastic and the staff friendly and knowledgeable; the filter coffee changes daily so your morning pickup will never be the same again. …
M. G.
Good service, lovely interior and just across the road from Borough market. Bought some 250g for 7gbp and wish I had bought more. Smells delicious. Packaging is nice too.
П. А.
Amazing coffee !
Z. T.
One of the Best's
M. A.
One off the walls are open, so you feel the energy from the street. Good coffee and baked goods. One long community table. The staff could have been a bit more nice. But all in all a good experience
H. B.
Great coffee experience
J. L.
Located in the borough market, It's great place to have breakfast every morning before work. This coffee is definitely worth the long wait - absolutely lovely. The staff is really friendly and always smiling. Excellent service !
D. K.
Coffee at its best. I heard a lot of hype/buzz about this coffee shop. I was recommended this by few of my friends and I tried. It deserved. One of the best coffee’s I had. If you are in london and are a coffee lover then this is a must go place
D. N.
I don't understand why people complain about the long queues. It makes sense to me that so many people want one of the best coffees in London! Great customer service! Absolutely love the atmosphere!
S. H.
Monmouth coffee is 5 star coffee house. Limited seating but this is more of a grab-n-go coffee store. Also a great place to grab your beans for the weekend brew. It is a testament to their quality that Monmouth is one of the top coffee suppliers to any half decent shop around London.
P. T.
Great coffee, and speedy service. Great place to buy beans. It does get super busy on the weekend with the tourist crowd coming through Borough Market so - be prepared to queue!
D. J.
Amazing coffee. Worth the line. Got a latte on ice. Was lovely!!
K. N.
Great coffee and lovely staff.
S.
For me, this is the best coffee place in the world. The coffee tastes wonderful, of course, but the way they treat their customers with all the smile, manners and happy voice is what made my day. Thank you!
D. L.
We love Monmouth coffee (are waiting for the roastery near us in Bermondsey to open in it's new arch!!) but this space is usually super rammed. The space is very cosy and well decorated, staff are great, but the wait will likely be long if/when you go, so be prepared.
M. H.
Im from America, and a bit of a coffee snob. So im exactly a big fan of Starbucks. So my friend who lives in London, took us to Monmouth. Needless to say my latte with whole milk and rich coffee surpassed my expectations for London's best coffee! The line was out the door, but the staff came from around the counter to get our orders started! i was very impressed!
K. M.
The food came so fast than what I expected. The food is so fantastic; it’s filled of a wide variety, delightful and extremely satisfying. If you sit in the back on the left side, you will see the drawers for a notepad full of souvenirs left by other breakfast fanatics like you. This is truly a great place with a good food. A place with an amazing breakfast you've ever had.
J. V.
Great coffee shop, very well organised, even in a long queue you not waiting more than several minutes, fantastic coffee, the staff is always pleasant and serves you with the smile :) Such a great beginning of the day. Everytime when I am passing around it is must go in, get the lovely cappuccino and it makes my day :)
P. W.
Excellent speciality coffee. With knowledgeable staff. Allways has a queue down the street of at least 10-15mins
J. F.
The best coffee in London, epic pastries in the mornings too. Their staff are super friendly as well which makes every visit a pleasure.
F. A.
Been coming here for years as coffee is good but find the staff don't bring much personality to the service and become almost a factory type environment...
Tell one person your coffee then tell another person your order take payment then wait until yell out your coffee and tell another person it's yours... Usually no where to sit so only good for takeaway when no queue.
T. N.
A heaven for coffee lovers in Borough Market. The smell of freshly ground coffee brings you in and you are not disappointed with the quality. The baristas master the art of a good coffee. Unfortunately, there is no much to accompany your cup of coffee.
M. A.
One off the walls are open, so you feel the energy from the street. Good coffee and baked goods. One long community table. The staff could have been a bit more nice. But all in all a good experience
J. B.
Nice coffee, but enormously overrated.
The self-fulfilling talk of how this is the greatest coffee in the world ensures the flock keeps returning.
Algerian Coffee in Old Compton St is far nicer and less pretentious. Or Drury.
C. G.
I travel all around the world, and when I hit a place, I’m looking for the best coffee. Monmouth is on the top of my top lists of favorites. The location, the interior, the flavor, the care put into the brew- you MUST stop in.
D. C.
As you will see from other reviews, the coffee is fantastic but they also do the best croissant I have ever had. Flakey, buttery and the perfect accompaniment to your freshly ground filter.
C.
Coffee is insanely good. As strange as it may seem- there is good reason for the queue around the front on the weekend- it moves quickly and is well worth the wait- superb coffee and good for a pep up on a day out in London.
Z.
A favorite and must-have every visit. The coffee never fails.
K. L.
Go there on a weekend and be prepared to double the quantity of coffee as you'll need to wait! I fell asleep in the queue once. True story that.
It is some of the best coffee in London though. And you can go round the corner for some gelato at gelateria3bis. Perfect breakfast.
P. T.
Best coffee in London. Pour over coffee from fresh roasted beans, it gives Stumptown NYC a run for it's money. You can skip the long cue of you buy beans and sneak a coffee in check. Wish it was open on Sunday and had more room inside to sit and relax but if the sun is shining and Borough Market is open there isn't a finer people watching spot. Pick up a pastry from Konditor & Cook next door, enjoy the finest cup of Java in town and enjoy!
M. L.
Monmouth coffee beans are some of the best you can buy and well worth the long journey to get. I first tried them when my son came to live in the vicinity 3 years ago and have been getting my beans here ever since. I live in Cheshire so have to make a concerted effort and relie on a friend for a bed!!!
K. P. (.
Holy moly I needed an 8.30am Saturday morning boost, and this caffeine injection was not only oustanding (such a delicious cappuccino!), but the staff were great, the queue - although very long! - moved quickly and the prices weren’t outrageous. Next time I’m in the area and need a coffee I won’t be looking to go anywhere else.
A. C.
A seemingly permanent long queue outside with a reputation to blame. In all fairness, this place does the smoothest coffee I've ever had in my life period. Rich and bitter flat white. Great staff too!
N. D.
Liquid liquorice! The coffee is wonderfully smooth, with tangy bitter notes that are quite unforgettable. I travelled across London for one of their coffees and it was worth it! The bustle of Borough market, the traffic, tourists, shops and sunshine (or not!) all add to the ambience.
S. D.
Challenging long lines might put you off from their coffee, but this transplant from Seven Dials is one heck of a pick-me-up here at the Borough. While the line is long, the wait is worth it. Get a flat white and discover why Monmouth is known as one of the better coffee places in London.
A. T.
I have used the one in Soho and it was a great experience start to finish. The staff were helpful and gave great suggestions based on my (poor) explanation of how I like my coffee, and they got it spot on. It is always a treat to get my coffee from here.
C. G.
Best coffee beens in town... by far.
S. S.
Some of the best coffee in London! Get here early at the weekends to avoid huge queues. I recommend the flat white but if you're feeling adventurous check out the bean counter.
A. W.
Awesome coffee. Because you go through 3 people to get coffee it can be a bit confusing. But coffee is worth it and stuff is doing their best to help you.
k. w.
Delicious just delicious..
The best coffee I ever had in London.. This place has earned very special place in my heart ♥
Love you Monmouth coffee ♥️♥️♥️
T. I.
Awesome coffee. Because you go through 3 people to get coffee it can be a bit confusing. But coffee is worth it and stuff is doing their best to help you.
S.
Nobody sells a coffee like Monmouth. The Guatemalan range is the most tasty personally. 2kg bought, should last a month
M. I.
Had high expectations of this Monmouth shop based on reviews and feedback from a friend. To me, the filtered coffee with the milk served was just of a normal taste found in many other coffee shops.
G. S.
Nice coffee but it can't justify the hype and the queue. Do I queue again for a coffee? No thanks, there are now many nice places selling good coffee without the need of standing in a queue.
T. R.
Best coffee ☕️ 👌
P. M.
One of the best coffee I've ever have. Really cosy and friendly atmosphere. You can even sit on a large table and enjoy bread and croissants, comme à la maison !
M. S.
Brilliant Service with regards to helping discover new exciting coffee.
Fast efficient service. Consistently Very High standard
Lovely place to relax and catch up with friends.
Great place to grab a small present/accessory for the coffee lover.
A.
A bit over-priced for really tiny cup of flat white. Friendly and efficient staff!!
L. V.
The range of coffees on offer is spectacular and the experienced is enhanced further by the extensive knowledge of the attending baristas. One of the few places in London that offer a decent babychino, and the option to eat fresh bread accompanied by homemade conserves. Excellent quality all round in a bustling area with a local feel. #GoogleGoesPOP
m. s.
Still one of the most inspiring places to go for a coffee - unusually intimate layout that actually works in a very collegiate way, stylish, great coffee and always a buzz. a great place e to start your day when u are in the area.
J. S.
Inevitable long queues, especially on the weekend - but once you get to the front it's all worth it. Bit of a coffee snob myself and would argue that this (and the Covent Garden branch) place serves the best lattes in London.
C. B.
Very good coffee, friendly staff and prices are reasonable. Would highly recommend coming here to get coffee- however, queues can be very long!
S. E.
Yes... there is a huge line out the door because their coffee REALLY is that good ☕️
C. H.
Great coffee! Generally always busy when I go there, (I've been going for a few years now). Staff are normally friendly and efficient
R. S.
Amazing coffe, Great staff and service!
R. V.
A coffee lovers haven in London. Don't be put off by the queue, these baristas are amongst the most efficient in London and you'll soon have a perfectly made flat white in your hand. And an almond croissant. You can also buy beans here if you're like me and have a grinder and machine at home, or you can have them grind it for you. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful, make sure to take home some of the organic costa rican demerara sugar, fantastic stuff
S. S.
Bought fresh coffee beans and the price was very reasonable. I impressed the smell of coffee beans when I was making first cup of espresso at home. Will try more this coffee shops other origins of coffee beans.
D. S.
this has to e the best coffee shop in london. You may have to wait a while in the queue but most certainly worth it. Coffee made to your taste forget the Starbuck etc and come here. Coffee is fairtrade and if this is important to you you shouldgive it a go.
A. C.
So expensive for a coffee, but a nice treat.
S. M.
Always really busy at any time of day so he prepared to queue and stand about hoping for a seat if you don't want your coffee to go. Service is good. Coffee is exciting.
N. B.
The best coffee in London. However, their prices are getting a bit expensive. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Or at least, more so than me (on both counts).
R. L.
looking for a quality coffee??? that's the place where you coffee is the king!! amazing. you can choose between so many varieties of coffee beans. the baristas are just like artist. each coffee look like a piece of art.
O. A.
If you think you have had coffee in the past, then you are wrong. Monmouth is by far the best coffee you will ever have. The flat white is to die for. The only reason I am giving a Very Good for service and not excellent is the long wait lines for coffee.
S. A. K.
I miss my American small coffee houses. All I could find in this country was Costa and Starbucks. and then I found Monmouth. The people are amazing and they know their coffees _ and if you ask them nicely, they will take the time to tell you all about their coffee also.
N. J. P.
Long queues, and trying to find a seat is a nightmare!
The coffee is good, really really good...but not what everyone thinks it is!
Overpriced for what you get I reckon, and I've had better coffee (FCB denmark hill/Love Walk Cafe)
K. R.
The (black) coffee is of great quality. But no soya milk haha, really? That coupled with the (usually) immense queue makes Monmouth not the greatest option in the area.
R. M.
This cafe is situated next to the famous Borough market. It's a small, rustic and welcoming place ideal for a quick meeting over a coffee or lunch. Their quality coffee, is well priced, sustainable, fair and equal trade. Fresh pastries from Little Bread Pedlar, fresh cream truffles from Sally Clarke and, in the colder months, single-origin chocolate from Marou and Tobago Estate. The only downside is there's no WIFI.
P. L.
Large space with ample seating. Also offers filter coffee.
A. W.
The coffee here is some of the best coffee around. You can sit in and drink the coffee or buy coffee to take away yourself, either beans or they will grind it for you for your own equiptment. My favourite is the Ethiopian Yirgacheffe.
S. P.
Fantastic coffee. The queue was too long but it only stands as an example of how good it is, so this is something I can just about put up with. Kicking myself for not having thought of this place sooner. They are making a killing! I will keep going to this place for sure. Nice atmosphere.
M. S.
I'm not a coffee aficionado, treating it more as a wake-me-up drink - but this place does it in style. Good selection of breads and jams for breakfast, and there isn't a long queue early in the day.
B. C.
I love having a coffee everyday before or after work from their wide range of coffee beans from around the work. Fresh and very well made.
M. G.
Good service, lovely interior and just across the road from Borough market. Bought some 250g for 7gbp and wish I had bought more. Smells delicious. Packaging is nice too.
V. S.
The coffee is really good, but service is not the best and waiting time in the morning is so ridiculous I wouldn't really wait. If you appreciate good coffee you should try for sure but it is not my daily treat for sure.
S. H.
If you are after great fresh coffee, this is your spot. Try a few types of coffee before getting your cup and try their filter coffee, don't ruin it with milk.
It could get really crowded though and coffee beans are expensive.
M. C.
Absolutely adore this coffee shop! Highly recommend this if you're in the are. It would be a crime to go to Starbucks, Neros etc. Great coffee, great cakes, cosy and friendly... what more could you want.
M. S.
The best coffee in London!
B. S.
Good coffe, even from someone who lives in Italy. They use whole milk so if you have a cappucino or similar it's pretty heavy. The pastries are good. Teh major downside is the queues and how slow they are to make the coffe. It's worth going as part of a trip to Borough market and if you are taking your time.
T. G.
Friendly service, exceptional coffee. Food good too.
Tip - buy one of their pour over devices and try making monmouth coffee at home too!
J. C.
Worth the wait.. Monmouth is always busy but it’s famous for its coffee and it does not disappoint ☕️ wish I was more local so I could come here more often! Lovely staff and brew
S. D.
Amazing, amazing coffee place - cannot believe I haven't been here before! The flat whites are perfection, the brioche was quite close behind and they also sell beans to take away
R. W.
The coffee is nice.... but the queue is far too long. Rabot Estate also produces fine coffee but you do not have to wait as long. Overall, great Coffee, shame about the wait
S. S.
Monmouth roast their own coffee beans and supply numerous discerning coffee shops in London too. It's all about coffee and nothing else in here. Seating is limited and the atmosphere is not particularly cosy in any way.
I. F. G.
Everybody recommended me the coffee in this place saying is one of the best in London but the true is I just have a nice cup of coffee. The ggod point is the decoration and the all you can eat breakfast buffet you have with plenty of jam and marmalade.
I.
I heard about this place a lo of time, and I heard that the coffee at this place is the bast. But I didn't believe. Now I here and I tried this coffe. It is totally different taste. It is amazing. Lovely country stile decorate and very friendly baristas.
Y. b. D. (. L.
It's ok not my favourite coffee place in London - I feel the quality has diminished over the years but that's normal with staff changes etc etc... Having said that, you will always have a good experience as the staff are always really great, I just don't love the coffee unfortunately...
s. l.
they served quality filter coffee.
V. P.
Monmouth coffee is greatest you will try in London...Come on Thursday, Friday or Saturday. There is not many seats inside. There is a lot of choice available, the Demerara sugar is excellent, and the stuff are really cool. Try another branch at Covent Garden!
C. G.
Arguably the best coffee in London. An institution. Queue goes out of the door and onto the street here but the service is quick and efficient. Never waited more than 10 minutes.
Q. T.
A really long queue, but was offered a small cup of coffee just to try. Was nice, especially in the cold. Really good and fast service and the environment inside was really cozy, with communal tables topped with cheese, jam, butter and pastries
D. P.
Best coffee I‘ve had in ages, the queue was out the door! The espresso here is wonderful, but the number of people having filter coffee was interesting, maybe I'll have to try that next time.
S.
Used to be a big fan. Returned today for the first time in a year and the quality seems to have dropped somewhat. Still a great place to buy beans, and the service is excellent, but if you're looking for a good flat white, head elsewhere.
J. M.
Fantastic coffee with a perpetual queue outside the building and around the block. Friendly, helpful staff and good food. Typical hipsterish place, but, wow, the coffee is worth it.
F. K. (. F.
Coffee, yes ...very yes, even though I prefer Mocha, it's still worth trading for and is good value even for drinking in (though you're half hanging out literally). It's just not as comfortable as one would like, especially during the colder weather and something to nibble on that's warm and possibly fresh would be nice too []^__^]
C. W.
Arguablly one of the best coffees in London. My favourite is the flat white. Because of the location, usually has really long queues so dont get to go very often unfortunately. Friendly service
A. P.
Goodselection of coffees and great care taken to make every cup special. Routinely crowded and difficult to sit down, often a long queue. Hipster central but perhaps over hyped.
M. A.
👍🏻
L. H.
For all coffee lover, if you don't know what's Monmouth coffee consider your stand point as a coffee lover. Filter coffee with exceptional knowledge of different types of coffee beans favours
W. L.
Great coffee place in London. I often get the coffee beans here and it just makes a nice home brew. Croissants are one of the best I ever had!
s. h.
looking for the best coffee in london? its got to be momouth coffee. due to being located next to borough market, its always filled and queues out the door and around the corner. but worth the wait! tip: best avoid friday and wkends due to the market
K. R.
Fantastic flat white. Very smooth and natural. Tastes milky but you can also feel the strong espresso shot in it. Friendly staff, always smiling and talking to customers.
N. H. S.
as a coffee fanatic, i was very excited to try londons best coffee. rumor is that it is the best coffee in london. when arriving, the line was out the door and spilling into the street. however, it moved quickly and there was a barista taking orders to speed up the process. the coffee was DELICIOUS. definitely a must try in london!
G. J.
Proper coffee. No syrups or having to decide if you want a tall or a venti or whatever.
Y. O.
Yes, it's good coffee. But it is not that ultra fantastic that what some try to project. I am not so sure it's worth the long queue, but it does add additional X-factor. And do not try planning to have a sit, just try your luck.
M. d. F.
2 streets away from Covent Garden's frenzy, this is where you'll find the best coffee in Central London.
My only regret: they are closed on Sunday afternoons.. When Sunday in London definitely calls for strong coffee.
M. M.
Excellent coffee knowledgeable staff friendly and helpful.
C. J.
Monmouth. Need this review say anymore? Consistently incredible coffee and the queues are worth the wait. A must any coffee lover visiting Borough Market or Seven Dials!
W. H.
Avoid the tourists, visitors and borough market crowd. Monmouth does fantastic coffee in a great place. Staff are usually happy to talk about choices.
Seriously recommended,
E. A.
There's a reason to stand in line for this coffee. It's just better. The kind of coffee that makes your day in a great environment. The people who work there love coffee and are hugely helpful. Food is yummy, too.

Not many independent coffee shops have the following that Monmouth Coffee does. For yuppies and scenesters alike Monmouth is a byword for coffee that marks them apart from from the Starbucks guzzling masses. Monmouth's coffee is outstanding but be prepared to cue, sometimes around the block for a taste of their liquid gold and whilst your there make a meal of it with a delicious flapjack or two. #finegentsfeast

My fav coffee place in London. Their almond croissant is very good as well. They also sell a lot of different beans as well with sampling.

My first visit to monmouth coffee was last year in the summer, and there was a long queue out site the coffee shop, I was attracted by the queue and wondering what it is like, waited about 10 mins and I get my flatwhite, it taste very nice and very strong and I kind of addicted to the shop!

I walk by this place all the time and there is always a huge line formed. The coffee is seriously something to talk about. I would suggest Monmouth over Starbucks any day. The sizes are a bit small though.

Very nice coffee. Hit the morning rush so queued round the corner but moved quickly. Nowhere to sit really and no loos. Worth it for coffee though

Very nice coffee, and for roughly the same price as a high street coffee shop, but much nicer. Shame it's so popular though as it seems like it'd be a nice to place for a snack too.
