Reviews of Origin Coffee at The British Library
Delicious pour over, and oat flat whites. Diverse and unique coffee selection. Lovely barista working alone , but pouring consistently delicious coffees. Great speciality experience.
Small coffee spot with great coffee!
Great quality coffee, with its own roasting, attentive barista in the explanation of the origins.
Small but tasty
Great coffee, super friendly people and good value for London!
Decent coffee and lovely pastries. Friendly and professional staff.
Tiny but the coffee is amongst the best in London. Ten minutes walk from Euston/Kings Cross. Go!
Revisited with a better experience than previously, I would probably go again! Great that they do oat milk here
Pretty good for coffee. 'nuff said!
Excellent filter coffee. Friendly service. Highly recommend
Small coffee shop, quality coffee and friendly staff.
The latte was ok,tad bitter but still enjoyable. Lovely friendly staff!
The other branch inside the library after the main entrance served the same kind of latte too i.e. bitter. It was served in a papercup
Favourite beans at the moment. Lovely London cafes and excellent mail order.
GREAT coffee, good price & very convenient. A very pleasant stop.
Must visit. Beautiful coffee and atmosphere. Highly recommended
Always can rely on a tasty filter. Very happy memories with this shop.
Origin popping up few places in London. Great coffee.
Great coffee shop👍🏻
Very good coffee right by the station, friendly staff.
Had a cortado. Good stuff!
Fantastic coffee. Best in London. Friendly relaxed service.
Great morning coffee and street view before a new day at work, in Kings Cross 😎
Great wee place, really good poor over brewed with Kalita, nicely served.
Definitely worth extra few steps from King Cross and surrounding chain coffee shops.
Coffee is good but unfortunately I was served by a barista with a very unwelcoming attitude.
Great coffee. But sadly, some really rude staff.
Perfect espresso 👌🏻
Superb cortado with oat milk yesterday; got me through the first day back at work - thank you guys!
The coffee in here is awesome the staff are super friendly too.
Intimate spot with the London common lemony acidic spectrum coffee which I’m personally less of a fan of
Friendly staff, here once to twice every day when I'm in office. Also get their beans for home coffee too
Decent coffee and nice staff
Slightly different flavours from normal, very subtle but very tasty
Had an awesome hot chocolate made with Lucocoa chocolate. It was divine!!
The barista working today as I post this is a champ! She was on her own, but aside from that was pouring swans and tulips galore on everyone’s coffees including our 2 oaty bois.
Lovely selection of exceptional Chinese coffees as it’s Chinese New Year. Super!
We requested the pour over, it was absolutely incredible!
Thank you for a beautiful speciality experience
Nice cozy corner. Excellent food. Don't plan on sitting there too long though.
Best flat white I've ever had. Pleasant service too.
I'm just having best coffee in last few months 💓
If in doubt, ask for the batch brew filter. It will most likely be wonderful.
Good cappuccino, beautiful terrasse quiet location at british library
perfect morning coffee, definitely recommending flat white
Good value coffee, but food options expensive.
Best coffee in London!
Good coffee small snacks not all pastries
Great coffee if lacking in atmosphere
A small but chic coffee shop outside the British Library. They serve nice coffees & pastries. They have a few breakfast items on the menu of which the avocado on toast was good & yummy. It was not cheap but worth the money. Worth to spend some time here to chill out.
I didn't have food but the espresso is first rate
Simply great coffee that is carefully and thoughtfully made.
Great coffee and friendly, helpful service.
One of the best coffee roasters in London...
Good location but coffee little bitter.
The texture is very different.
Tea was like dish water shame, decent little shop too
Polite staff, good coffee. What else do you need?
nice place, amazing coffee, cool people
Short walk away from St Pan
I stopped by the side of the road before going into the British Library after a stressful journey, and this coffee shop seemed like it appeared from heaven next to me! Sorry to the barista for my deafness, thanks for repeating a lot for me, and the great coffee!
Great coffee beans
Great coffee and friendly staff
Nice
Ok coffee, below specialty coffee average.
Great coffee from a cute little place on the street
the best coffee in town
Small , quick with tasty bits !! Double Thumbs up
Delicious pour over (San Jose).
The Avacado toast was beyond excellent
Coffee was BANGING and service was great 💯
This second branch of Origin just next to the main road but not really known by many. It offers their own beans, very tasteful and fresh. Friendly and calm staff and warm interior form a relaxing atmosphere. The location provides an interesting perspective to see the world passing by right in front of you. The only thing is this tiny place could get a bit crowded when people come in at the same time.
Ok coffee, but Euston road is no gem
Delicious coffee and cosy little place
Lovely minimal use of plastic!
OK. Small but convenient.
Worth walking from the stations, a godsend to library dwellers
Love their coffee and coffee beans
Superb 👌
Incredible coffee!
Best coffee in London
Great coffee and music.
What a nice little gem that is easy to miss .
This cafe went up into my top 5 coffees in London ,
The atmosphere is perfect , the music is nice and you can see the barista enjoys what he do.
Excellent coffee ☕
Always a good shot
👍🏻👍🏻
Proper coffee culture.

Very good coffee. Great service.
When staying at the St. Pancras Renaissance, breakfast was a flat white here every morning.
Enjoy specialty coffee easily.
It also works with oat milk.
It's a small and cozy coffee shop.
I've never tried the pastries, but they all look delicious.
I would definitely like to visit again.
The coffee is very delicious! And it’s right next to King’s Station, perfect for taking a break!
The coffee tastes excellent, especially the hand drip taste!
rainy day
The coffee tastes great while sitting by the window.
This is one of the top five coffees I've tried while traveling the world for a little over a year.
A cafe with very delicious drip coffee.
The taste of drip coffee is so good that I remember it even after coming to Korea.
The place is not large, so it's a place I want to keep to myself.
If I go to London again, I will definitely go there.
A coffee you won't drink often, and if you find the right barista, good service.
I was confused as to where the path to something was on the 1st or 2nd floor, so I found it. Clean and pleasant space
Coffee is very nice normally, but a little hit and miss. Disappointed today with the espresso. Pastries a little on the pricey side, too. Normally worth it for the coffee (£2.85 for an espresso).
Best coffee I had during my VERY short 3-day stay in London. They have Oatly and another plant-based milk alternative I believe. Regardless, I think I only had their long black in both of my visits- Yes I visited twice in 3 days. Their espresso has a unique flavor and taste (I'd say juicy, red wine). Would recommend.
Convenient location near King's Cross Station, so if you're waiting for someone or for a train, this is a lovely place to do it. The coffee tastes great and their espresso is strong – although pastries are pretty dry.
My wife and I love it here! 5 star coffee and such smiley, friendly staff :)
I had a really special fruity and nutty flat white from them today. Great start to the day
Veru good.friendly staff, great service and lovely coffee
Small and cosy coffee shop just outside St Pancras and the British Library. There’s one long bar to sit at, and some chairs outside. Coffee is made quickly and is of a higher quality than the Starbucks and Pret nearby. WiFi here too.
Delicious chai latte, doughnut and cinnamon bun! Yum! Cool artwork on the cup too!
Lovely coffee spot and well located if you're needing to spend a day in the British library
Small coffee and over priced compared to other cafes. Sausage roll is £4.5 and is tiny. Brownies £3.50 and small. They need to really look at their pricing
Their coffee is really good! Quite different from the usual cappuccino you'll have from coffee chains in the UK. Only problem is there's not a lot of space to enjoy your coffee in the shop but there are tables outside though.
Skilled baristas and friendly serving. Reasonable price is also one of the reasons why u visit this place for.
A bit slow service even the place was empty, single espresso costs 2.2£ what a bit too expensive
Wonderful aroma of marzipan but weak body and low caffeine contest, not for the morning shot at all
Obviously great coffee, but even better is that the baristas are super knowledgeable. Peter talked me through the different fermentation techniques used in the coffee beans they had for sale, where I can go to get my home grinder fixed and more. Great experience.
Small spot with good coffee and a few spots to work on WiFi. Nice if you have time to kill at St. Pancreas.
The best espresso coffee I've ever had in London. Simply delicious.
Fantastic coffee ☕ and teas and they have the most delicious Cinnamon bun ever! 😋 Keep up the good work guys, put the chains to shame! 💪
Great little coffee store, smaller than the Southwark cafe. Knowledgeable staff and a selection of coffee beans on offer (which come with a free coffee). It would be nice if the coffee prices were a bit more simplified - there’s a chart but it can be hard to find coffees/stock and pair with prices. Some of the higher end beans can be quite expensive. Still, I’ve been picking up some decent beans here.
Absolutely wonderful coffee experience. Best flat white I had in London with a washed Panamean as well as a pour over with a truly stellar Honduran Black Honey Geisha. Never tasted Pomelo in a coffee before, but it was really there. Charming staff, good pastries and nice seating. Perfect!
By far the best coffee around! The seating area in doors is small but they do have outside sheltered space which is used well. The staff are very competent and know their stuff. I was advised on how to make the best coffee at home using my kit which was not driven by price of beans but rather how I make and drink my coffee at home.
My flat white was superb. Will most definitely nip back in the next time I'm in London! ☕
Great coffee. Really good location
Coffee is so nice in here and the manager Antonio is always a friendly and good people, i enjoyed all the staff and atmosphere in here
Been craving a great Kenyan pour over for the longest time and Origin Coffee Roasters truly satisfied that craving! Lovely fresh aroma with plenty of frutiness and just the right amount of body presented nicely.
A bit pricey, but that's to expect from their location.
Pastries were also delicious, although a bit dry.
Very good coffee, definitely the best we've had in our short stay in London.
I would also highly recommend the brownie, so fudgey and chocolatey, a very generous portion too!
Origin coffee was the perfect place for a quick coffee time between journeys. The guys at the counter were very helpful and chatty even if they were busy too. It was a small space but had seats for us to enjoy coffee and view.
Cool place, great coffee.
I cannot sing the praises of your Euston Road and British Library locations enough. Returning to London after many years in Canada, I find myself appalled, sometimes to the point of violent nausea, by the criminally terrible customer service that has festered in England during my absence. And the coffee in England, as before, is even worse.
The Origin Coffee Roasters locations here are the shining exceptions that prove the rule. The service is exemplary; and your staff set a powerful example of what customer service should be; not the insulting farce it has sadly become in my absence. They establish a template that the rest of England should follow.
And the coffee is even better. One of the biggest complaints shared among transplanted North Americans is the terrible state of coffee in this country. Again, Origin is the exception that proves the rule; and I recommend your coffee every time the discussion comes up -and it comes up a lot. I have never had a bad cup of coffee here, and even trust one of your regular baristas to the point of drinking whatever he decides to fill my cup with, rather than making the choice myself -a trust I have never felt, even in Canada. And I have never been even mildly disappointed.
My praise may flirt with hyperbole; but the sentiments behind it are rock-solid and sincere. If you're in London seeking a great cup of coffee and great customer service (especially North Americans!); you will never be disappointed. It is,
quite simply
the best.
Raises for everybody!
Very cute coffee shop serving fantastic coffee. A little on the small side, and most of the indoor seating is bar-style rather than individual tables. Go alone/in a pair rather than in a bigger group.
It is conveniently located and has good coffee but I was very disappointed by the service. I gave it another shot later on and was so put off by the attitude of the barista that I didn't even got to order my coffee and just left. It's a shame because it has a huge potential and being at St Pancras and next to the British Library is more than an enviable location.
This past week have a tried several of the best rated coffee shops in central London, and I can safely say this is my favourite. There is a window-side seating area with stools which runs the length of the cafè as well as an outdoor seating area, both perfect for sitting and watching the world go by. The staff are friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable, serving a range of coffees in different styles and at very good prices. If you want something special, I recommend a one-cup pour over, expertly poured by hand. If you really want to treat yourself, request the Gesha coffee. Though it is more expensive than the standard single origins which are offered, it is worth it for the experience. They stock a good range of food suitable for breakfast or lunch. They also have a small merchandise shelf, selling bags of coffee, hand grinders and reusable cups. I like this cafè so much, I wish I could take it home with me.
Talented barista on bar, told me about the pour over coffee I was drinking and provided me with an info card on the espresso, and gave me tips on how to achieve a similar espresso in my own bar. Both coffees I enjoyed were fantastic. Would return if I'm ever in the area.
Very good flat white and pour overs. Love this place
Origin was perfect for exam revision. Amazing chill playlist, even better coffee. The seats are a bit high for proper laptop use, but didn't stop me spending a couple hours here. Super nice
Great coffee but I was just served by an extremely rude barista with no idea how to speak to customers - very unprofessional
UPDATE: Sincere apology and a free bag of coffee received. Will give them another go when I'm passing!
The coffee is pretty good and the baristas are always friendly and polite, the cups are super cute! I only really have a problem with the pastries. I tried different ones 2-3 times now and they always seem a little stale and for that they're pricey. So get the coffee, skip the pastries!
UPDATE (original review below):
Sam followed up for me and was apologetic and truly wanted to make up for the poor impresion we recieved. This customer service easily makes me want to try Origin again and I will happily do so the next time I find myself in London. I really apprecaited Sam's follow up.

ORIGINAL (2 Stars)
Truly good coffee. They’re some of the more knowledgeable shops in London when it comes to brewing. It’s just a shame that one particular staff member was so rude. He was demeaning multiple times to the point my wife just had to stare at me in complete disbelief. We visited 15/04/2019 around 15:00. A shame. Could’ve left with so much of a better experience.
It is definitely the best coffee to take break from reading at the British Library. The change of catering services was not entirely kind to those readers who enjoy their cup of coffee in late afternoon. Origin saves the day. Enjoy!
Not much seating inside this Origin Coffee Roasters. However there was a good selection of coffee beans and other coffee related items to purchase including aero press filters.
Very friendly staff who were interested in our opinion on the coffees even if they were a bit busy. There was a good range of coffees, espresso or filters and a good selection of pastries.
Friendly, passionate and knowledgeable staff. Relaxed atmosphere and music. Great little place to watch the world go by.
A humbler origin compared to its brothers, tucked away its not easy to spot. As expected the coffee is up to Origins high standard however we were provided with takeaway cups instead of ceramic ware.
Woke up from a jetlag nap and was seeking good coffee close to the standard hotel. Had a perfect small Americano (also known as a strong black - I was looking like a clueless american when they called it) and a bite sized kouign amann.
Great coffees with milk alternatives. Breakfast portion was good enough to fill my tank. Wifi and friendly & thoughtful staff.
The best chai latte in town! My friend and I went out of our way to come here because we are never disappointed. Obviously coffee is fantastic too.
A beautiful contemporary coffee shop, with great minimalistic vibes making great use of such a small space. Would definitely recommend anyone who fancies a people watch before getting a train.
I really enjoyed the coffee! The cortados are delicious (and surprisingly they have really good chai latte too, more spice and less sugar).
The baristas are very nice and have been very helpful in suggesting which coffee beans to buy for different brewing methods.
This is my pit stop on the way to Manchester. Always look forward to grabbing a coffee here.
Lovely coffee, fresh pastry, and very friendly staff.
Really good lattes and flat whites to be had here. This will be a relief to find for tourists and researchers from the Antipodes spoilt by ready access to bourgeois coffee.
Quality coffee, much better than anything around in the area. Space is limited, Scandinavian type interior. Couldn't find any sockets for charging at the sitting area
Great coffee, great flat white!!
Great experience - loved the tea! The barista recommended first trying without milk and I have to say it was one of the best teas I've tried! Excellent service, would definitely recommend.
Great coffee experience - thank you "barrista(r)" Michael! Perfectly made coffee, and nice recommendation on the brownie. My new spot when I'm at the British Library! :)
Banging coffee with really knowledgable staff. Bought a geisha recently which I v60d which was pretty lit. Nice vibes long bench where you can park for a bit and do some study. Wifi is a plus too..
Very very good coffee. I would like a bigger cup as they do one size, but maybe coffee connoisseurs would say this is the right size.
Amazing coffee, both espresso based and filtered.
They also sell a great selection of fresh coffee beans.
A loverly semi-hidden coffee just outside the British Library. Loved the space, super friendly staff and of course great coffee. Highly recommended ✌🏼☕️
Excellent coffee and friendly atmosphere
Small coffee place close to St Pancras. It's nice if you are looking for a quiet place close to the train station. They also offer food and some snacks.
Good coffee, decent prices, and lovely atmosphere! Sat outside and caught some late morning sun, it was very nice
Really handy coffee spot between Euston and Kings X right by the British Library. Great coffee and tempting cakes and pastries.
Not the place to go if you’re in a rush BUT you do get a great cup of coffee. Better than all the rubbish you get inside KX Station.
Shame there’s not a few more seats
Great coffee in an area that really lacks a good coffee shop. Worth the extra few min walk
Outstanding coffee. Small, but there’s a second cafe within the library if you want to hang out.
Much nicer than the cafes in the British Library. Decent small-batch coffee and - unsurprisingly - popular with a very bookish crowd!
Beautiful coffees and friendly service. The barista is highly trained and knew his specialty coffees extremely well.
The most fruity espresso I've ever tried. Small, clean and elegant place.
Delicious coffee...looking at the busy traffic...lovely music...Great service....small with big ambient...
Definitely one of my favourites for coffee and beans in London.
It's a teeny tiny place with a relaxed atmosphere. Most importantly though, how's the coffee? It is outstanding.
Cool coffee shop, good coffee.
Great coffee and really superb and knowledgeable staff. “I’m creating a temple of flavour” (Head barista Antonio) - right answer!
Cosy little space, lovely cup of coffee, friendly staff. Beats "the usual" options that are close by, busy and nowhere near as good.
Flat white with soy milk tastes amazing!!!
Could do with more vegan food options, but otherwise a wonderful coffee shop with high quality coffee and friendly staff.
Great coffee just by the British library. Free WiFi but not many comfy seats to sit in.
Great coffee. Not a lot of space to sit in but good location to get coffee on the go
Drinking Geisha, of course I had a great time!
One of the best oat flat whites in london. Knowledgeable and friendly staff
The smell of roasted coffee and soft music charmed me as I opened the door. The coffee was just perfect! You made my day, thanks!
Lovely, strong coffee; rapid service. Worth popping in for a quick drink if you are passing.
Incredible coffee quality, very friendly staff and reasonable prices. Would definitely recommend.
What a cute little café with lovely staff! ♥️ enjoying my Ethiopian single origin coffee a lot!
Flat whites are fantastic. Good food menu too. Try the avocado toast or pork Bly brioche
Beautiful, if slightly quirky, coffee spot. It is compact, but there is seating outside too.
Good coffee, standard price but worth and better than other high street ones!
Nice coffee. Right next to British Library. A few seats. One of my favourites
One of the best coffee shops in London. Have your coffee here before you get into the library.
Cozy coffee shop, nice espresso, a professional barista name David gave me a very comprehensive introduction on beans
If you need a good coffee definitely go there while in London, try flat white!
