Reviews of Southpaw Coffee
H. P.
I got the sandwich with cheese, ham and tomato, and it was really good and tasty! Also I got earl grey with soya, but I didn't like it so much. It'll be nice without soya. I would try other pastry if I come here again! There is no seat inside but the place was cute :)
B. S.
Best iced coffee in London and I hope they bring back their avocado toast, because it is phenomenal. I think it comes down to the bread and butter they use, which I have recreated at home. Always a treat going here. Friendly and kind staff as well.
A. A.
Great take away option. The soups are excellent and the pastries are generous size and delicious. Broad selection of sourdough bread and wines.
S. F.
Been coming here for a few years now, always excellent! Pastries + coffee spot on and really friendly atmosphere.
W. B.
Lovely neighbourhood coffee shop with great selection of pastries, cakes, coffee, wine, etc.
It was very busy when I went but the friendly staff were able to quickly serve us.
The oat flat white was delicious as was the pain au raisin.
Not 5 stars because it didn’t necessarily blow my mind. They didn’t do anything that other Aussie inspired cafes aren’t doing. At least on my first visit (will update).
S. W.
Amazing grilled cheese sandwich!! Very nice coffee too, would definitely recommend!

I found this place on Instagram a few months ago and as we came to London we decided to give it a try. We went there for the first time this tuesday afternoon. The coffee there is so freaking good, Ive never had a flat white like that before. We went there every day and also had some snacks and they were amazing too. As soon as I come to London again Ill be at this deli There, really friendly staff, increadibly good coffee, awesome snacks ant a really nice atmosphere 😊 Can't wait to come back!

Great cosy little Coffee House. Amazing decor and very welcoming . Delicous croissant feel like those Parisian almond croissant. Will defo stop by again. A must visit place if your in North London Islington area
J. P.
Dare I say best coffee in London?! Local gem, friendly staff. There can be a little bit of a wait during peak times, but always worth it.
J. F.
Quality service, staff are friendly, polite. Really nice coffee.
M. Z.
Excellent experience. Extremely friendly staff. Clean environment and nice decoration.
This is first time to get there, I gained lots of surprise about great variety of scrumptious bakery foods, such as, sourdough loaf, mushroom and onion quiche, tomato and cheese croissants, chocolate chip cookie (hazelnut) and so on....
I like this place very much. Before I got there, I am struggling to write my essay in a low mood. However, I became happy and could focus on my assignments after I came to the cute coffee shop, met the friendly staff and tasted unforgettable baked foods.
Forgot to take photos this time...Next time I would like to taste a cup of coffee, and bring my friends to go there if possible :)

So rare to find a coffee shop in London with genuine heart and soul - I love this place. Always feel so relaxed and at home there - these guys have really got it down. Most importantly - the coffee is DAMN GOOD. Best flat white in town - no joke - and I’ve had a lot! Get yourselves there STAT.

Found this place via Too Good to Go, and what a find it was! Friendly staff, very good espresso, and they also gave me an absolutely insane amount of good pastries and baked goods. Shared them with some folks I know at my local wine shop, who were very happy to get some tasty treats, and I'll definitely be going back here to try some more of their things!
S. L.
Lovely local coffee shop, friendly staff and good coffee. I pass by when going to work, their soup and bread are delicious. Wonderful ham & cheese croissant! Take away only.
S. D.
So popular try getting a coffee at peak time and you will need to Que outside but well worth the waiting. It amazes me that the taste of coffee can be so good in some places and so poor in others this places yearly stands out
L.
Southpaw - our local gem! We wouldn't have survived work or lockdown without our daily dose of happiness from there! Extremely friendly staff and homey feel. My favourite coffee place in London! Highly recommended!
J. K.
Good coffee but the service here was poor. Two issues. 1) Separate customers ordering food and those ordering just drinks so the latter can grab and go. 2) Just speed up the service full stop. I ended up waiting 20 mins in a queue for a coffee.
It's the second time I've tried you and both times the same experience, as reported by friends in the area. You won't have our repeat custom until I can be sure I can grab a coffee in under 5 mins.
Otherwise a welcome addition to the area.
J. K.
Lovely decor and friendly staff. Had a coffee with an almond croissant after my morning run but the coffee is quite plain and the croissant too old and dry. Maybe will come back later and give it another try!
A. B.
Always good coffee ☕ good food options, gets a bit too busy on the weekends...
B. D.
Very good coffee! Dog friendly and genuine bakery items. Their pain aux raisins is absolutely fantastic.
G. T.
Just opened and such a gem already. The best coffee in the area and the owners are so friendly. Beautiful interiors and very welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend.
M. P.
Friendly and lovely place! Vegan pain au chocolat was fantastic.
V. B.
Really liked the place! It’s quite cozy with the great coffee!
J. I.
Cute little cafe hidden away in Barnsbury! Great range of pastries and sandwiches to go with your coffee order. The coffee was also really well made.

A new vision for Tate Modern
The vision of the new building is to redefine the museum for the twenty first century, integrating learning, display and social functions.
T. R.
A little gem of a coffee shop! Great-tasting coffee accompanied by friendly service. It’s little wonder that Southpaw is often so busy you can barely get in the door. The guys make a mean oat flat white, and I’d also highly recommend the salmon and cream cheese bagel, and the mini jam doughnuts. Delicious.
L. W.
Good coffee. And I’m Australian so that is saying something.
D. L.
Loved it here. Friendly staff, great range of foodstuffs, wine, beer and delicious coffees & pastries too. Would recommend coming.
S. N.
Great coffee and lovely croissants :)
G. A.
As coffee snobs from Melbourne this is my wife and mine absolute favourite coffee in London! The food is always unbelievably fresh and seems like it is made with love! We want these guys to become massive but selfishly hope we don’t have to ever wait in a line for their coffee (happily would though)!
J. A.
Simple food done beautifully, with great coffee to boot! Highly recommended.
A. C.
A fabulous coffee, but a mad waiting time.
Both times I’ve gone I’ve waited over 10 minutes - maybe it’s the busy Londoner in me but in the morning I need it quicker! I’d love to come more often, but don’t want to choose between coffee and being on time for work...
H. A.
Great coffee, friendly staff, lovely neighborhood cafe. The sandwiches are yummy and there are loads of other kinds of pastries and energy balls. Just OK for working as there are limited outlets and limited seating, better for a friendly chat or a quick break.
R. H.
Dived into this little gem for a much needed Sunday morning coffee. They were open on time, fresh faced and welcoming despite having to be open so early on a weekend. Very friendly service and the best coffee in the area. Highly recommend.
J. L.
A fantastic local coffee store with great service. If you like soy lattes, they have Bonsoy here! Make sure to ask them to froth the coffee separate from the soy and it'll turn out Melbourne quality.
C. D.
Great coffee, service, atmosphere and food. Seems like a ‘local favourite’ but as a passerthrough I was equally welcomed. Opening hours are good (they open earlier than most places in the area). They offer alternative milks, and are generally very vegan friendly if you’re that way inclined. Only a short walk from the Caledonian Road underground. All in all, great place for coffee and breakfast in Islington. Pictured is my coffee and half eaten raspberry danish (it was amazing).
J. E.
I go there almost every day, amazing coffee, great price, lovely staff. Only issue is you have to wait becasue its so busy!
P. M.
A favourite local place for a real good coffee from nice barista guys!
G. J.
Great wee spot. Friendly staff, tasty coffee & treats 👌🏻
O.
So glad this place has opened, and thank god I never have to go back to Costa... life changer.
Tastefully decorated and spacious inside for a small place. Most importantly, the coffee was tasty and the cakes & pastries look great.
K.
It was great stumbling across this place on my weekend walk through Islington. Great coffee and really friendly staff in a charming and unsuspecting location.
C. G.
Best coffee by far in the area, and for the moment take-away only. However the waiting time is excessively long. From ordering it is normally a 15-20 minute wait to receive the coffee, even when there are only a couple of people already waiting. Why the long wait?! Go here if you have 30 minutes spare to order and wait for a coffee on the street.
J. H.
Truly impressed with this place - their attention to detail, customer service, and light and airy shop are all fantastic. As a self-confessed coffee geek, I was amazed at the quality of the pourover they made using Guatemalan beans from Caravan. A real find.
A. T.
A great little cafe serving excellent coffee and run by some wonderful people. On a quiet and unassuming street just off Caledonian Road and behind Pentonville prison, this little nook provides blessed respite from the hectic pace of life. It is quite small inside but so beautifully and simply decorated. Definitely a welcome addition to the neighbourhood.
B.
Amazing vegan (and regular) pastries!
J. D. M.
Honestly the most delicious coffee cookies and brownies! Generous kind and friendly staff. Just what a neighbourhood needs.
G. B.
Great food and coffee. They have a La Marzocco Strada pressure profile espresso machine. I know that won't mean much to the average consumer, but it means they are serious about their coffee and pull perfect shots the majority of the time. The avo on toast isn't too bad either. A+ all around.
C. A.
Love this place, love the breakfast, love the coffee. Great way to start the day
M.
Hands down the best coffee in the area. Indeed I can't think of a better cup I've had anywhere else in the city 👏🏾
D. D.
Very friendly great coffee even escorted me out with an umbrella x
E. M.
Really gorgeous coffee shop, ideal place to read a book for half an hour. Coffee and cakes superb, with V pretty interiors. Owners/staff delightful, especially the Irish girl
l. w.
A perfect place; DIVINE coffee, beautiful space, DELICIOUS food and best vibes...I live miles away from here but am seriously considering commuting every day to have breakfast there. When you visit, don't miss the potato cakes.
A. M.
Great local cafe, with a good bakery selection. Coffee decent, many alternatives for hot drinks to on offer.
S. K.
Came across this cafe coincidentally it’s so cute and friendly! My boyfriend had the Banana bread and said its the best he has ever had. Glad we discovered this hidden gem.
M. H.
Great, friendly service and lovely coffee. Also a great support for local community providing free lunches for in need children during the holidays.
D. B.
Orlando's previous coffee shop in Hackney Wick served the best coffee in the borough. All other staff there were just as friendly. Southpaw is equally as good. Highly recommended.
C. C.
I fell in love with this cute café and lovely staff. Vast variety of snacks and beverages, vegetarian option available, very nice and welcoming atmosphere. I'll definitely come back!
O. L.
Loved the coffee and staff was very friendly! Atmosphere is nice too! Best place for coffee in the neighbourhood.
S. P.
A wonderful addition to the neighbourhood and a great alternative to Sunday if you just want a quick coffee and a snack rather than a full meal. The coffee is worth a trek.
S. P.
New place for a coffee that just opened near the Caledonian and Barnsbury overground station. The coffee is very good, both espresso and filter (they do pour over)
T. H.
Seriously good ham, cheese and mustard toasty
M. K.
A lovely spot off the beaten path making the best coffee in the area. Southpaw offers great service and atmosphere with a variety of drinks and pastries.

(Translated) A cafe that serves simple bakery and coffee, as well as a grocery store with wine and chocolate. It is only available for takeout, but it is always crowded outside with people ordering coffee and waiting. In addition to croissants and cookies, they also sell warm sandwiches such as ham and cheese croissants and cheese toast. I ate the ham and cheese croissant and it was so delicious that I ate the same thing again next time, so I couldn't taste anything else. ^^;;
Very compact takeout cafe that also sells coffee beans and wine bottles. Tried their ham and cheese crossiant and loved it so much, went back for another the following week. Nowhere to sit except for a small bench outside, and the front is usually crowded with people waiting for their coffee. Their flat white is decent too. Thinking of trying their cheese toasties one day.
(Original)
간단한 베이커리와 커피를 파는 카페이자 와인 초콜렛 등도 구비한 식료품점. 테이크아웃만 가능한데 항상 바깥에는 커피를 주문하고 기다리는 사람들로 북적인다. 크로와상, 쿠키 외에 햄치즈 크로와상, 치즈 토스트 등 따뜻한 샌드위치도 판다. 햄치즈 크로와상을 먹고 너무 맛있어서 다음에 또 같은 걸로 시켜먹어 다른 걸 맛보지 못했다. ^^;;
