Reviews of Story Coffee

Its exactly what I needed and more, I have been looking around for a very long time for a good place to relax and have coffee. The place itself is amazing.
I. Z.
Visited on a Wednesday around 11am, place wasn’t packed which was nice. Wonderful location, small space with a nice relaxing atmosphere. Design is excellent. My Cortado was overall good, but not excellent. I do get fussy when it come to my coffee. when prices are on the higher side I feel comfortable with it....(hence why I rated 4/5). they don’t have WiFi here which is a shame. Didn’t try their food, but all signs are promising! I would recommend highly recommend for a casual meeting with a friend or two. Oh and super clean. Nice find!

Had brunch here and it was absolutely delicious! Really good food and extremely friendly staff! First time I’ve had a chai latte that wasn’t overly sweet. Definitely recommend and can’t wait to go back soon

Amazing coffee, friendly staff. Also good selection of obscure coffee beans available for purchase!

I'm rating this place based on the service and taste of espresso, so the kind of beans really. On two occasions I was served by two individuals who were super friendly and helping, the service is quick and in the hot day I was thirsty so I asked for tap water to drink and there was no issue about that. The coffee on the other hand , was mix of Brazilian and Ethiopian beans and unfortunately not in my taste. I only drink espresso so I could get the whole flavour and roast , so to me was not good at all, acidic and salty even like. Won't be getting coffee there again I'm afraid. Besides place look nice, clean and cozy too. Prices are average too.

Been here twice on a Saturday Morning around 11am for Brunch. Both times it's been busy but we've been able to squeeze in somewhere - although it is a little loud because of this.
The first visit I had the best French toast I've ever had the pleasure of eating! It felt so perfectly put together, from the poached pear, the drizzle, the toast it's self and the portion size!
On my second visit I had their Quinoa Pancakes with Ricotta which were also wonderfully filling and delicious. Only problem was that I found out I wasn't a fan of Ricotta which it was served with (hadn't ever tried it before but took a risk). Wouldn't order them again due to personal preference, unless it could be served with an alternative option such as Mascarpone instead (such as they had with the French Toast with was great!)
My partner also had the Avocado and Scrambled eggs which he has said he's yet to find a better version of in London!

My latte was takeaway so there was no latte art 😅

Relaxed quiet atmosphere and design, friendly staff. The coffee is exceptional, and looks equally as good. The menu is simplistic and what you'd expect, albeit a bit small. The place is brilliant for a quick coffee, however the seating is definitely not intended for long stays, being a mixture of wood benches and stools. Overall an awesome small coffee shop.
E. K.
Excellent coffee selections, sleek modern design and friendly approachable barista in the house.
Worth your visit!

A true coffee shop. Great beans served properly. Light-bites and home made cakes make this neighbourhood local worthy of a detour. The benches are great for a quick coffee and a snack and give the corner unit a bright modern vibe.
T. I.
Extra delicious coffee and extra wonderful people. Definitely on my worldwide coffee enthusiast map. 🖤

If your looking for good value for money with high quality coffee and food, this is where you should be. We had the scrambled eggs, chicken toastie, a cappuccino and an oat flat white. The coffees were perfect! The toastie tasted amazing, and the chutney that goes with it is just awesome. Will be coming back often!

the best coffee in London!! having been regular customers for years, I must say this is the only place that maintain its quality. staffs are super friendly. interior is very inviting. Try French toast!!
D. O.
My favourite cafe in London! So lucky to have a fantastic independent near me that serve the best flat white and delicious food. They seem to get a bad rep for laptop rules and no wifi but it makes such a difference to the atmosphere and I can get a seat!
A. S.
Amazing cookies with one of the best coffees ive had cannot wait to visit again
T. M.
The coffee is excellent here, at the moment they still aren't seating anyone inside, there are a couple of tables outside. I have always experienced nice service here and the cold brew on a warm day just hits the spot!

Amazing place and they have an amazing super very delicious Nutella muffin it is soooo good
F. H.
Looking forward to have a internal space open again! Some places around have it but not with quality coffee!
B. 2.
Coffee perfection- everything about this place is done right, from the minimalist layout, wide open windows Hedone Bakery patries, to the menu in the wall. A lot of thought has gone into everything and everything non essential has been removed. The coffe is consistently amazing, full bodied, with a strong kick and the creamist of milk. I just cannot praise this space enough. The fact that the sister establishment Story Works down the road toward Claphan Junction is just as good is testament to their formula. GO OUT OF YOUR WAY TO VISIT HERE.

Lovely little place just few min walk from clapham junction (make a habit of visiting if waiting for longer than 10min for a train!)
Great coffee using square miles red brick and various guest filters (well made).
M. P.
A bright and inviting coffeeshop serving Square Mile coffee - it was a touch overextracted though giving a very bitter taste. Nevertheless, it gave me a much needed caffeine kick as I chilled out on a elegantly designed Scandi-style wooden bench. I ordered the carrot cake which is hands down the best carrot cake ever to touch my lips. Now I have dreams of that creamy frosting, moist sponge and delectable flavours. I was served by Benjamina from Bake Off - I suspect the heavenly carrot cake was one of her creations. Hats off to the baker. Hats off.

Lovely coffee, excellent service and so nice to be able to sit out in the sun ☀️
A. T.
Amazing food, well worth the price, stylish shops. Had pastrami and French toast which was amazing.
L. H.
Absolutely amazing coffee shop, with the best flat white in South London by a mile! I had the French Toast which was delicious and presented beautifully. The staff are super friendly and efficient. They have a no laptop policy at the weekends, which makes complete sense as they get extremely busy. In terms of cafe design and quality of the coffee offering, this place can not be beaten!
B. J.
Great coffee and great service! Tried both the guest and house espresso - both were delicious!
A. Z.
Food is good but over salty and slightly over priced. Coffee is tasty and cheap. Friendly staff. --no internet or charging spot--
L.
Only takeaway at the moment although they do have outdoor seating (Rev. 12.9.20)
A. C.
The cheese toastie is amazing!! Delicious homemade granola
M. C.
love their bakery selection with their coffee 😍
P. W.
I’ve been going there for years and years - the coffee is fantastic, and always served with a smile. I feel so at home there! You can tell it’s a good place to work because the same staff have been there for ages.
I recommend the Bircher muesli (I never get sick of it!) which is super delicious and filling. The croissants are also very, very good (better that the french bakery up the road!).
It gets busy at the weekends so go early or late if you want brunch.
The owner is lovely and has a young daughter so is very solicitous when I come with my baby or toddler. When we’ve chatted in the past, I’ve always been so impressed with the thought and effort that has gone into everything about the place, from the vintage ercol chairs to the sourcing of the ingredients!
Can’t recommend enough!
Z. -.
Great coffee and great atmosphere. Came here midday on a sunday and it wasn’t too packed. Lovely staff who took mugs pretty much as soon as we were finished. Great hospitality! Would 10/10 go again :)

I agree with the other reviews about customer service- I found the coffee was lovely but the staff were quite standoffish. There is a big sign outside saying 'wait to be seated' and signs on the seats saying the same- even when there were plenty of spare tables. Not the most welcoming! Also a group asked if they could sit somewhere and the staff said no- even though there was no one there and the table wasn't reserved- I think the staff just didn't fancy cleaning that area up afterwards! I think I'd rather go somewhere where I feel a bit more welcome.
C. H.
The coffee is fantastic! I think they serve some of the best coffee in London. The food is also delicious, and very high quality (reflected by the price). It's often busy and there aren't many seats, but the no lap-top policy means that seats aren't taken for hours by people working, which is great! I'm updating this review to say the wait for a seat isn't actually that long even when it's busy! Take away is always quick.

Best Coffee I had in London !For brunch I had scrambled eggs that were incredible tasty , fluffy and creamy. Relaxing atmosphere with super friendly baristas. I would give more than 5 stars If it was possible.
A. B.
These guys do some really great coffee! :) I also appreciate "no computer" policy at normal full sized tables because nowadays coffee shops just tend to turn into remote working facilities, so great policy! Didn't try the food, but looked quite pricey but I guess its the average price tag for the area! Coffee shop itself doesn't have much character, so just 4 stars from me.
D. T.
This coffee shop is amazing! Food, coffee and ambiance on point. It’s a great place to visit if you’re looking for a chill escape. I strongly appreciate how this place is designed to be and their commitment to be consistent, not only with the products and service, but also by sticking to their rules (laptop & tablet policy). Because it’s true, this little coffee shop looks so much better when it’s animated by people and conversations.
L. H.
Love this place, best coffee in SW London.
J.
Great find. Fantastic coffee, and avo on toast done just right 🙌🏼
A. F.
Love this little spot. Nice walk through Wandsworth Common to get there. Cosy vibe. Big windows. And most importantly, perfect cuppa joe.
G. A.
The perfect place to escape from the stresses of my working life and to engage with other members of the community... (and sometimes destroy a piece of the incredible banana cake)!!! ‘‘I don’t see Story Coffee as a workspace or necessarily a venue to conduct business meetings, I see it is a community friendly coffee shop that serves excellent coffee, delicious bites, and a light, airy and warm welcome. Great place, thoroughly recommend it!
L.
Amazing latte art every time with beautiful taste
B. T.
Stopped by for a cappuccino today. Good quality coffee, strong and not too bitter. However, the staff definitely lacked warmth. They kinda made me feel like I was inconveniencing them. This feeling was reinforced by the fact that they have signs on the tables asking that you not use your laptop in the shop. Clearly, they want your business, but don't want you to linger after finishing your coffee.

Really lovely place - this coffee shop/cafe has something about it that really sets it apart from the others in the area. The food is tasty AF - and you can taste the quality of the ingredients in what you’re eating. Recommend!
T. T.
Lovely little spot with Square Mile coffee and more than hipster menu. Too packed on a Saturday to actually enjoy sitting in as the place was super loud, but I can imagine it being a nice place on a weekday afternoon without the crowds. I would definitely want to go back to try their pancakes!
V. K.
One of my favourite coffees south of the river. Clean interior style, cool personnel, good coffee options plus fresh pastries. Seating outside ideal for a warm day, plenty of space on the pavement so you don't feel you're in the way.
k. w.
Food - excellent. Coffee - excellent. Service - always a bit poor. I have been here several times now either by myself or with groups and they have never got it right/consistent, even on a basic level. Combination of forgetting about us, making us unnecessarily move, not logging the bill and then over charging us.... and then they have this absolutely absurd no laptop or tablet rule. It’s 2018!
A. D. V.
Good vibes...great coffee...genial staff. If you're looking for a place to drink coffee whilst looking at your screen there are probably other places more suited. On the other hand, if you're more of a top-notch coffee + interesting conversations with friends...or strangers, type of person; give this mighty little coffee shop a go.
S.
Best Coffee possibly in London, brunch is really high quality and delicious too. Very popular amongst locals which is always a good sign. Service is friendly and very efficient and consistent. Love it!!!
C. W.
I've been coming here for over a year and I love the place. Always super friendly staff. The coffee is always great, as is the food. This place is my personal benchmark for London coffee shop. Really great spot!
H. Y.
Amazing coffee shop probably one of the best in South London. Would definitely recommend it to anyone. Staff were all polite and amazing and I will definitely be coming here again soon!!
D. C.
Friendly place seems popular smells good. We came here because Aeropress lists them as a retailer but it is the press only not the supplies. No reflection on them but still disappointing. So we didn't stay as it was packed. May come back some other time. Their coffee roaster is square mile coffee so likely will look them up.
M. C.
Easily the best coffee in the area. Delicious carrot cake for the afternoon and breakfast scrambled eggs (a bit too delicious, I can't get past them to try other things on the menu).
Very comfortable environment.
S. G.
Great food, great coffee. But when I’m paying for it I don’t expect to be told by some smug hipster that iPads are banned and I can’t read my e-newspaper over brunch... The irony that I could have brought an actual newspaper baffles the mind..
M. C.
I entered this corner coffee because of the Nordic chairs and the best was yet to come.
By far the best espresso in SW up to now and amazing breakfast. Eggs were perfect texture and the pesto splash matching the Avo on Toast. super !
N. C.
A very nice place with great customer service where I enjoyed a yummy hot chocolate with my best friend. The food (especially the avocado toast) had a great presentation and it was delicious. I will definitely be returning to Story Coffee.
C. K.
What a cute little spot to chill and have a catch up with a friend, great vibe and friendly staff. Lets not forget about the food, loved my Quinoa Pancake. Need to go back for more. ha
Definitely recommend. :)
D. C.
I was so pleasantly surprised by this coffee shop. Both the food and coffee was delicious. Along with the staff being so friendly and willing to help. I’ll definitely be visiting again!
J. B.
Friendly, good service, decent coffee, tasty pastries, large windows - giving an airy feel (without drafts) , and handy for waiting for repairs at the London Cycle Workshop. If it was a bit cheaper as well I would give it five stars. Have not tried using a laptop so can't comment on their attitude to laptop users.
S. O.
Lovely, light airy coffee place by the corner. They have all the milk alternatives and their avo toast and their toasties are delish... They are however a bit obsessed about people using their laptops on the tables. You can, however, use them inthe bars.
G. S.
Good quality product, fresh pastries and really tasty coffee ( oat milk cappuccino +banana bread very delicious ).
Good for quick take away
J. N.
Nice coffee in a bright cafe. Have a small selection of pastries too. Limited tables/seating and can get very noisy when it's full due to the high ceilings.
Despite what others have said I wasn't "instructed" on where to sit and I saw a woman come in with her pram without issue.
L. W.
Your standard hipster 'pop-up' coffee shop in Clapham, coffee was good although we ordered food and it took an absolute age to turn up so be prepared. No meat on the menu either which is surprising for a breakfast place. Stocked a brand of coconut water that I had only seen in Berlin so pretty happy with that one! Pretty expensive but par for the course for a place of this ilk.
B. A.
Good coffee, no wifi. I was also the only one in the cafe on a quiet Thursday afternoon and was asked not to sit at the table with my laptop, I had to sit at the benches facing the window. Not sure why?! Also no power points to charge devices
