Would have probably given this cafe a 5 star review if it wasn't for the absolute jerk of a man who serves at the till. He has zero customer service skills, no idea how to speak politely to customers and hasn't mastered the art of "service with a smile". For some reason he seems to think it's a privilege to visit his cookie-cutter, faux hipster, cafe when there's dime a dozen scattered around Islington and Hackney. Fortunately the other staff member (lady, curly hair) is very nice and the food is pretty decent too. There's plenty of space. It's clean and a nice place to work from. Just need that idiotic male staff member to not be in a customer facing role. Perhaps do the dishes instead?

Great place - good coffee, freshly squeezed juices and delicious food. Its one of my favorite places for breakfast & brunch. Or to just sit with a laptop and a cup of coffee

WOW my wife and I had a fantastic brunch at the barn and we highly recommend anyone to try the combo breakfast make it how you like. This is now our favourite Cafe for coffees, fresh juice and poach eggs combo. 👌👌👌👌👌

Quality food and friendly staff, great for brunch. Try the Barn Breakfast and iced coffee! Spacious inside (so reassuring if like me you're coming out of shielding and a bit conscious about distancing) and lovely decor - first place I've visited since start of lockdown. I used to live round Holloway Road/Highbury Corner and its a nice presence in the area, easy to find on the main street.

Honestly, stop reading reviews and just go there. The place is outstanding, didn't have to wait long to get our food and when we did, it looked and tasted really good. The music is not loud or intrusive, we were sitting under one of the speakers and could hold a normal conversation. Prices are also good and the toilets are clean. The decorations are also nice.

The Barn looks like one of those cafes that focuses on good "artisan" coffee with mediocre pastries from the outlook. But I was pleasantly surprised with my grilled chicken and avocado sandwich. The chicken breast was so succulent and flavourful, bread was crisp but not dry, it was one of the best I have ever had. My friend who brought me there says the food is always great. The staff were very friendly and helpful too.

I only went in for a quick take away coffee having lived in the area for 5+ years and always overlooking this coffeeshop. I won't in future. It looked comfortable, lots of cake options, coffee not too hot but still warming. Barista very happy, pleasant and swift and work. Will return.

The smoothest coffee roast you ll ever get served quick and with a big smile ! Brunch menu is extensive , eggs always poached to perfection and chef is ready to accommodate the pickiest requests . Service never fails. The place is cozy With a very relaxed and luminous sittin area at the back that makes the whole dining experience even more enjoyable. We had the most amazing Saturday brunch at the Barn. We ordered the Barn breakfast, coffees, fresh juice and gluten free brownies and everything was delicious. All staff were very friendly and helpful.So happy we discovered this local gem. We will definitely go back again!

We visited the Barn on a Sundays morning around 13:00 with a group of four, without a booking. It was every busy but we were offered a table after 10 mins but we were switched to another table 15 mins after we were served because it was meant for a bigger group. We had avocado on sourdough with poached eggs and coffees. Food was tasty and the equality was expected. Two hours later there were many tables to choose (see photos).

I absolutely LOVE this place because of the kindness of the staff and the great food of course :) I highly recommend the halloumi breakfast. Believe me, I've tried several places in the area for years but no one had the same high standards. The seating area is very comfortable, especially when it's quiet.

Delicious coffee and great snacks available at the bar. Normally plenty of space in the downstairs area where you can eat from the kitchen menu. Very friendly staff and cheaper than their closest competition across the road.

We came here for a few Sunday's when we were staying in an Airbnb next door. Always got a table, never paid more than £25 for two breakfasts, coffees and juice, and always had a table for two available. Food comes fast, fills you up, is tasty and presented well, and then you're on your way. The halloumi breakfast is my favorite.
