Reviews of The Monocle Café
M. g.
Very trendy Japanese style cafe. Seating upstairs and downstairs (downstairs is warmer) the pastries are really nice. Only downside is, their bagels are kept cold, would have been nice if they were warm. And there's not much to choose (food wise) on the menu. I had saw on Google a dish I wanted to try, but the photo was taken a few years ago, but I hadn't realised😔, so I couldn't get it.
H. P.
I had a bun and green oolong tea. No regret! The tea was AMAZING and I got hot water three times! The bun was also really good and simple.
I saw many reviews saying it's a small place, I went here on Tuesday 2:30pm so it wasn't so busy. But I might avoid to come during the weekend or busy time.
The place was super cute and had a good vibe, and even the toilet! Even though the toilet was very small, it was warm- they had a bidet- and I was so satisfied with this kind of details.
F. M.
I got a flat white and a matcha cake. Very nice seating not too many people in the floor below. Definitely visiting again

I like Monocle a lot… but given it only four stars for a few reasons. It’s one of my first experiences with coffee in London years ago, and I have very fond memories of that time. There coffee is good but I’ve surely had better. The portion is smaller than average, but more expensive than the usual. The place is very well designed and a spectacle to the eye, but too small for how busy it gets. However their is a basement level which tends to have more seating areas, however it’s a bit too stuffy for my taste. It’s still one if my must go to coffee shops when I’m in London.
R. M.
I enjoyed sitting upstairs in this luxury haven in trendy Chiltern Street, Marylebone.
I was expecting a snooty reception, given the area, but was charmed by the welcome, and calm atmosphere.
There are free magazines to read while having my (affordable) coffee, and they appear to be an outlet for the upmarket magazine Monocle.
I must go back if in the area.

This cafe has a 4.4 star review but it definitely deserves more. It has everything. Great service, creamy foamy coffee, and delicious pastries. It’s the perfect cafe to sit at rain or shine. I will definitely become a regular here 😝.
M. F.
Super cool spot in Marylebone. Quite small so not that many seating options but if you can get in early enough and grab one of the tables downstairs, this could be a perfect spot to work from for a couple of hours. Lovely ambience and staff and great coffee and pastries (their cinnamon bun was delicious)!
D. M.
The best thing about the Monocle cafe is the bathroom. It might sound weird but bathrooms to me are almost all the time is part of my review. I like to see clean, Hygienic toilets. The toilet at Monocle Cafe is Toto toilet 😅. It's very interesting. I didn’t take a pictures though (next time).
Generally, it was very busy. There coffee is really good too. I ordered coffee late, I loved that they had very tiny cup size. ☕️ because sometimes the small is very big and this is an excellent size.
I should go again to try the pastries 🥮 and sit outside to enjoy their lovely coffee.
D. D.
Great café. Lovely environment.
Recommend the sandwich!
R. C.
Was the best coffee shop I found on the street and haven’t regretted to stop by for a Mocha. They also had a reasonable vary of pastries which I haven’t tried at that moment. In terms of the environment I would say it’s satisfactory for a coffee shop but didn’t get impressed for anything. The service was so good as well. Would definitely go back.
S. L.
The cafe seating is limited but cosy. The meals offered are delicious, no-fuss, cafe style feeds. The presentation of everything at Monocle Cafe feels very well considered from the plates to the interior! You could easily spend an afternoon here sipping on coffee and cake, flicking through the gorgeous Monocle magazine and travel guides! Definitely a gem. The coffee here is silky goodness :)
A. B.
Small cafe, have table insides, but quite squeezed in. Ok selection of snacks and drinks.
A. W.
Found this little gem on our last day in London. The food was simple yet excellent! Everything was flavored perfectly, and the portion was just right for breakfast. Sadly the latte although presented beautifully was quite light for my taste. So if you have never been here, my recommendation to you, skip the coffee and enjoy the food!
W. R.
Comfortable venue to enjoy coffee, pastries and leaf through stunning magazines and resource-rich books.
M. C.
Great coffee and cafe food. Suited for lazy weekend afternoons, armed with a good book and a hot cuppa…
M. N.
A neighbourhood gem - absolutely adore this little spot serving up gorgeous Scandi and Japanese pastries and coffees, plus other soft drinks.
Super cosy, with a living room type set up, their own magazine and TV.
W. W.
Great coffee.!!! Can be a little crowded but a great spot
T. W.
Ah....finally no queue today:) Been hoping to visit this place for 2 weeks now but there has been a queue always. Today I managed to get in! Loved the Latte and the Swedish cardamom buns (£3.75 a pop!).
P. S.
Cute tiny place. 2 o/side seats on quiet street. Brisk rather than friendly service. Quality good. Prices pretty high. Overall value decent. Cappuccino and a (well filled) smoked salmon bagel just under £9. Big negative is the coffee’s served in paper cups -why not China?!
C. S.
A hip cafe! Food was homely, wholesome and delicious, good portions! Chicken curry really hit the spot. Coffee was great too, and comes with milk chocolate on the side. Staff were friendly and of good temperament despite it being bush and the crowd of people. Food and drinks pricier than average but it's good quality. Very limited seating though.
S. G.
Cute little coffee shop tucked behind Baker Street. Monocle offers a hybrid of Japanese and Swedish food options including Chicken and Shrimp Katsu Sandwiches (highly recommend trying both), Goma Udon, Toast Skagen and Taco Rice.
They also offer Swedish Cardamom and Cinnamon Buns. In terms of drinks, their Matcha hot chocolate is a must-have if you’re a fan of Matcha 🍵
R. S.
They turned the cosy communal nook in the back of the cafe into “The Monocle Shop” 😔 you were my favorite coffee shop because I loved curling up with a book and one of your delicious coffees and pastries in that quiet space. If you bring it back please let me know! In the past, that for me is what made this cafe special. ❤️❤️
S. L.
I loooooove this coffee shop. The vibe, the atmosphere, the decor and of course the coffee and drinks. The only issue (and it is a big one!) is the smell- the ventilation is awful, the downstairs kitchen fills the whole cafe with the smell of food (particularly Katsu Curry) that soaks deep into your clothes so you leave smelling like a meal! I really think they need to address this as it’s not appropriate for their ultra premium positioning.
T. M.
It's happening here. 😎 vibe, great coffee. 📚 reading up on creative healing shifts...
B. F. B.
Super cute - and a must-see for avid readers of the Monocle like myself! Small menu or coffee and pastries and alcohol available. There is two rooms of seating on the main floor, another two in the basement floor, and patio with outdoor seating. As expected from Monocle, the design and decoration is beautiful and thoughtful!
Y. L.
One of my favourite hipster style cafe in London!!! Never get wrong with Matcha hot chocolate and fresh mint tea. Tbh, food serves at cafe are not delicious normally. But every dishes at The monocole cafe are so great, delicious, good amount and healthy. I do love their taco rice, Goma Udon salad and Katsu sandwich. Also, the environment is cozy, very comfortable to spend your morning and afternoon here alone or with your friends.Only one thing to complain is their bread and cake is nothing special, quite boring....cakes are from Lanka which used to do very nice Japanese style French patisserie. Unfortunately, the quality of their cake was not good as before.
P. A.
Small cafe serving excellent coffee however food options are limited, they also sell some books and stationery.
M. G.
Monocle Café is the perfect place for an afternoon coffee. Plenty of space to sit, a large selection of hot and cold drinks. I tried the matcha gateau and it was absolutely amazing and my oat latte was just delicious.
Really lovely staff, nice atmosphere and great service! I do recommend!
R. S.
First things first. The coffee is great, and the pastries are delicious. But this place is also cool and comfortable. Some coffee shops try so hard to be hip you end up feeling you're disturbing the decor simply by being there (unless you're Bryan Ferry). Others are all about comfort and end up looking like someone's living room. Monocle strikes just the right balance between cool and comfort. Make sure you check out the basement that doubles as an art gallery. When the weather is nice, the outdoor seating is great to watch stylish people parade on Chiltern Street.
F. M.
Had a great experience here! Got a cortado, and did some reading downstairs - the bathroom was super clean which I really appreciated!
H. S. (.
very nice environment & interior! servers were lovely and my latte tasted very nice :)
A. S.
Usually stop in for a great coffee and a cardamom bun every time I'm through London.
M. L.
We had a tea here, and it wasn't good. The place is really small, there's not enough seat, but if you can successfully take a seat, overall it's a cozy place.
R. S.
Downstairs seating is surprisingly cosy. Good for a light breakfast but if you like to eat don't expect to leave this place full. Bonus points for good Tamago in the Japanese breakfast! Finally a place with a proper washlet :)
C. Y.
Absolutely love Monocle as a brand! I’ve been to this cafe several times and every time staff treat me very friendly! The cinnamon buns are delicious, so does their flat white! Love spend my lunch time break at this cute cafe and read monocle books
R. S.
A cozy cafe with great coffee. Had some breakfast here (Taco Rice pictured) and I enjoyed it very much. The taco flavouring was not overpowering. If there is space on ground floor sit there. Downstairs is stuffy and open to the kitchen so you’ll be leaving smelling like food...
v.
Very good quality coffee, friendly people, and tasty food. The best place if you would like to eat a healthy and light lunch, a place where you can eat small portions of the salmon, bread, eggs, butter and fresh cream, to help your body to have small rest from night club life of beer and burgers. No wifi so forget about Facebook, just eat.
W. A.
Nice little coffee shop with lovely decor. Best flat white
A. J. B.
The atmosphere of this place was cozy and warm. I loved it. Good coffee and pastries. There aren't many seatings on the first floor though. Should be more seatings downstairs. Love this block in the city.
R. R.
This coffee shop has a hippie feel. It's small. It's not a place to work. No wifi (or maybe you should ask for the password). No visible power outlet. Tables are not good for working either.
Staff are friendly. Coffee was good. They gave me a small complementary chocolate, which was nice.
G.
Plus: great coffee and free monocle magazine inspiration. ☕️ 📖 🙌🏻
Minus: small and popular thus limited space to actually sit and enjoy the coffee, especially during peak hours.
H. I.
Neat, bougie coffee shop. Quality coffee, tasty pastries, calm sit-and-read or chat atmosphere. But the other reviews are right: branded by the fashion magazine of the same name, the service is weirdly haughty and holier-than-thou. Go in knowing this and you won't be offended 😅.
C. B.
Lovely coffee shop in the heart of Marylebone.
Their coffee is great and they also have great matcha tea/latte.
Their pastries are tasty and if you are on the look for a Japanese coffee style experience, this is the place to go!
They also have seats downstairs, however it gets crowded quickly.
F. A.
Very good coffee, small but nice place, would go back.
L. H.
So delicious! Had a matcha latte, a cappuccino, a cardamom bun and a cinnamon bun - all amazing. Next time, I’ll have to try the cooked japanese breakfasts, definitely recommend!
K. M.
Classy little coffee shop with very friendly service and a good range of food and deserts!
The Katsu Curry was delicious 😋
Only negative is that they don’t have internet but as long as you can hot spot your phone that’s really no big issue.
D. M.
Cheery staff, amazing coffee and great ambiance. Not too crowded either. Lots of small nooks to gather and chat or read. Love this place.
W. L.
The hot food is pretty good and flavourful. They serve Monmouth coffee, very nice coffee obviously but their matcha drinks lack flavour... They also serve very overpriced Lanka cakes (~40% markup). For those who don't know, Lanka is a prominent French Japanese fusion patisserie on Finchley Road. One of the best in London. The cafe has a very nice backroom space that is usually occupied, with a huge collection of past Monocle magazines for your perusal.
C.
Overall a lovely café! Staff was very nice, and coffee and ambience were great.
S. R.
I really wanted to visit here. It was almost 80% of reason I came to London. But.... service was the worst I visited cafes in London and not friendly.... it is cosy and customers look cool... but I feel.... disappointed ... sorry
A. M.
This place is everything I look for in a good coffee shop. Great coffee & killer atmosphere. Honestly such a great place - staff is super kind. Can get very crowded so be prepared not to be able to sit. My go to is a almond milk latte & it was amazing. They give you these super cute chocolates as well.
M. R.
Very pleasant with a nice vibe place. There are always excellent readings from Monocle.
M. U.
Very cute cafe with very nice staff. I had cold brew which was delicious. Strongly recommended.
D. R.
Lovely coffee and atmosphere.
Brownie a tad dry on the day we were there.
S. S.
No WiFi though;
And the items r a bit more pricy than other cafes
X. Z.
my friend works here. such a cozy cafe with friendly staff. will defo visit again
K. N.
You've gotta visit if you're in the area! Came here after a half marathon run and ordered the taco rice dish and the hot chocolate with matcha cream. Both were super delicious. Really cool cafe space too. Highly recommended!
G. V.
Absolutely lovely café! Very tiny place but feels cozy and homey. Coffee is a bit pricy but tasty. It also comes with tiny chocolate so totally worth it :)
M. B.
They serve good coffee with a smile ( behind their masks). I've also tried their salmon bagel! Mind blowing; the combination with the beetroot was unique and has definitely added some amazing tastes to it. I would strongly recommend it.
A. A.
Honestly amazing. Favorite coffee in the area. Food is great as well.
J. G.
One of my favourite coffee shops in London. Friendly staff, great coffee and food, with a Japanese charm. The monocle mag + coffee deal is certainly a bonus!
N. B.
Didn’t entirely get our order right (but it’s no biggie!) the coffee is pretty damn tasty! Most of all, got to check out the monocle store of course! Pastry is also fab - blueberry and herb I think ❣️
M. Z.
One of my favourite spots in London. Quiet Japanese Nordic cafe with a simple design and food. Love the service and the minimalist style
G. M.
A very small but warm place with great coffee and interesting food.
T. C. K.
Lovely cafe in Chiltern Street, London. Good coffee and pastry. Highly recommend to all coffee lovers and art people.
E. M.
Want a refreshing feeling to the busy city life. Monocle takes you away for a brief duration with its lovely coffee and sophisticated decor. An enjoyable visit, especially with a friend or partner.
J. S.
Uber stylish hipster cafe. Decent coffee and snacks at premium prices. Friendly and efficient staff
D. T.
The coffee is *amazing*! I've had many coffees that claim notes of hazelnut, but never have I found them as clear and indulging as I did in the flat white at The Monocle. They have a selection of bagels and some really tasty cinnamon rolls too.
J. H.
Japanese style cafe.
Some more seats downstairs.
You can buy coffee+magazine with good price.
J. R.
Rather pricy as is to be expected in this area, but very cosy downstairs, lovely atmosphere in general. Passable batch filter coffee (Moccamaster), and truly delicious pastries. Allpress coffee beans I believe.
L. K.
We came early morning for coffee and buns. It was quite busy, mostly people taking coffee to go, but the barista was efficient and very nice. There is a quiet room in the back. The coffee was great as well as the cinnamon and cardamom buns. We only saw later that they serve Japanese breakfast so we didn’t try it out but will definitely come again.
H. M.
my go to cup of coffee! love it with a cinnamon bun. so yummy
P. D.
Small, cosy coffee shop with indoor seating. Good coffee, friendly efficient service.
A. T.
It's a very cozy, tucked away place a few minutes walk from Baker Street Station. The decor is simple, and the place itself is a little bit cramped, but does offer that little hideout if you want a few minutes respite from the bustle of the city.
The food and drinks are superb (especially if you are into Japanese themed dishes), and the service is quick and friendly.
Will definitely come back.
A. K.
Great food, great coffee, great atmosphere. Can't recommend enough
B. M.
This is my go-to for neighborhood coffee and the most delicious cinnamon rolls and also cardamom buns. They are outstanding. It's a charming, very London-ish place. Only drawback is that it's small. There is more seating down a steep set of stairs, but not a lot. The rest of the food looks good, I'll be trying that next.
M. Z.
Very stylistic and relaxing. I had delicious food and espresso! Fast service to!
L. G.
Fantastic style, great coffee and polite staff. Not just for lovers of the magazine, the cafe really impressed me with their level of service and taste of the drinks - little details like a wooden serving tray and little chocolate to accompany Excellent iced lattes. Wonderful.
p.
Cute little coffee shop stocked with allpress coffee. Staff are friendly, warm and diverse, lighting sets the mood for an intimate chat with friends, or focus on your own work. Serves a fantastic range of foods including Japanese and even Scandinavian. Will definitely be visiting regularly!
X. S.
Everytime I feel disappointed by cappuccino somewhere I come here to mend my broken heart ... trust me
M. S.
relaxing, clean, kind staff, well-designed interior, delicious cake!! Next time I wanna order Fried Prawn Sandwich!
S. S.
A cute little cafe, away from all the noise of Baker Street - beautiful, cosy interior, the coffee was delicious and we really enjoyed yummy cinnamon buns! Perfect for a quick catchup or a longer meal - they seemed to do hot food as well. The only downside is that the staff are kind of half polite/half awkward and distant - would be nice if they could be a little more welcoming and friendly.
C. N.
Great coffee. Friendly staff. Fabulous magazine. Amazing setting. Nothing quite like it.
P. M.
This is a lovely coffee shop near Baker Street. The coffee was great and also the atmosphere. If you want kind of a Japanese style coffee/tea experience then this is the best place in London so far. Could be very busy so do come here at off-peak times.
E. G.
Sought this place out on Instagram via #marylebone and it did not disappoint, packed on arrival which is always a good sign and the coffee was simply outstanding 👏 👏
S. G.
This hipster cafe has a good menu with many choices for coffee and other drinks as well as breakfast options. I got a hot chocolate and chocolate chip cookie. The hot chocolate was great, though it's difficult to mess up a mix. The chocolate chip cookie was freshly made but had a taste of cardamom or something else in it, which was not what I was expecting.
I. C.
Tiny cafe with a small Japanese restaurant underground. Great just for a coffee and a bun, but they also offer one of the best Japanese breakfasts in the city. Chicken or prawn tonkatsu sandwiches are also amazing, and a great choice for a lunch in the park.
F. A.
You can enjoy good meal and coffee here
A. K.
all that youd expect, plus fresh macaroons and tiny TV lounge. does Tyler live upstairs?
M. B.
Lovely coffee, nice service. They have Japanese toilet!
F. S.
Great space but sometimes little pretentious customers. Super friendly staff with nice coffee.
M. B.
We were in the neighbourhood for lunch and stopped for coffee and a piece of cake. What a nice surprise it was everything we hoped for. Our lattes were well crafted and strong. The back area seating was just great. Very nice and sweet people working there. Will definitely visit again.
L. P. E.
I had a great cortado coffee together with a Monocle magazine. The place is excellent, staff is lovely and I will certainly come back for more coffee.
S. D.
Coffee is very good and staff are lovely. Simple calm decor a la coffee shops in Japan. Nice breakfast and lunch options. Japanese Toto toilet which is a dream. Seating is scarce and gets very busy. Free choccie with you coffee which is a bonus!
k. s.
My favourite coffee shop. Moved away from the neighbourhood and miss the cortado (that came with a complimentary chocolate :)). Check out the basement area to spend a good amount of time at the coffee shop.
D. Z.
Great place to have a coffee and browse through magazines and guides that they provide in the cafe
T. S.
Coffee is consistently good as long as you avoid the ‘soy’ options which are often overheated and curdled. Service is often excruciatingly slow, particularly when taking away, so not a place to grab a quick coffee. The food is excellent and while on the pricier side, the takeway options are packaged and presented beautifully, and the wooden cutlery and wet wipe is a nice touch and makes it feel worth the higher prices.
O.
Great coffee and cardamon buns. Wonderful to sit outside on a quiet street on a sunny day with a bit of buzz coming from Chiltern Street Firehouse. They also make great cocktails with a small selection of Japanese spirits. One small downside is that it is not cosy enough for me inside with narrow corridors and rooms.
E. S.
it’s in a great location.
the coffee is insanely expensive and (I got a cappuccino) tastes like 16 espressos and 4ml of milk in a 12oz cup - baring in mind I like a strong non milky coffee but this is another level.
maybe millionaires take their coffee like that cause their taste buds are different who knows.
anyway, the staff kinda treat you like it’s annoying that you’re there (unless they’re just being super cool and I can’t tell the difference).
decor is cool.
40% of the seating isn’t what I would call comfortable tho - like high stools facing a wall.
probs wouldn’t go there again unless a millionaire was taking me on a date.
J. T.
I’d say the matcha cake is the best in town. But the drink... I ordered Yuzu iced tea in takeaway cup and it was served as half full? £3.5 for a half full drink.. hello??
T. M.
It’s very unclear to me why this place exists or what its deal is - why does a magazine need a cafe? Is it Japanese themed? Or Swedish? But it’s very good. Coffee is great, and although punishingly expensive, only average priced in the area. Cardamom buns are delicious, not to mention hard to get anywhere else. Atmosphere is nice. And getting a Monocle plus coffee deal here is definitely the cheapest way to buy the magazine.
R. G.
Went for brunch today. Seating is limited, but we found a table. Style is Scandi-Japanese -hipster! They have their own radio station playing, and publish a trend-setting magazine of the same name, The coffee, food and cakes were lovely. Very simple, beautifully presented, and tasty too. A unique and pleasant experience!
P. B.
What can I say? One of my favourite independent coffee shops!
The worldly food menu and a well made coffee makes you go back there every weekend. It is 5 minute walk from Baker St station and not too far from a busy Oxford Street. If you decide you go, have a flat white or a matcha latte accompanied by a cinnamon or cardamom bun. Choose to seat on a sofa at the back of the cafe and you will feel like home.
Why 4*? It needs a bit of improvement on service. The girls seem to have an attitude that hasn’t changed since 2012.
C. L.
Came across this when hunting for good coffee shops with a few friends. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The place isn't very big but feels fresh. Some of the pastries and the bread had a Scandinavian touch whilst the interior (the toilet in particular) was more Japanese inspired. Nice spot for a catch up with a friend or just a hideaway!
A. C.
Very good coffee, friendly staff and a lovely ambience with a great playlist from
monocle radio.
Well priced for the area, with an excellent happy hour deal as well. Definitely go for the prawn katsu sandwich if you’re there while the kitchen’s open.
N. B.
I went to this place expecting a cozy artistic cafe in the neighborhood. However the place is really tiny. There are really no spaces. There is a big communal table which is all pretty and all but difficult to dine and talk there. The matcha and strawberry party was amazing. The walnut brownie was dry. It can be missed.
N.
Really good matcha latte - not too intense, not too watery, but just right. Folks also sell a really cool monocle journal here and overall the place is really cute and nice. On the minus side - not too much seating space available, but it still ads a certain cha to this local place. Oh, on the very good side - they give you a small chocolate with your drink order :) nice touch!
D. A.
One of my favourite coffeshop ever. Cozy and lovely inside for the winter and super cute outside during the summer. Very very clean and nice place to stay just for study or read a book or have a nice chat with a dear friend. Not 5 stars because is a bit too expensive and they don't have a wide choice of food. Just a couple of tiny slice of cakes and a cinnamon bun (sort of).
M. B.

Great coffee and vibe

The matcha cake was superb, must try. The coffee was fine. A nice lovely cafe though a bit small and crowded.

My favourite place for brunch in town!

Lovely cafe with cozy seating and yummy food
M. L.
Spaces are limited; some waiting time to be expected as the place gets rather crowded. Good selection of drinks and cakes but a little on the expensive side. Check out the Monocle magazines while you’re enjoying your drinks!
E. D.
Nice interior. Friendly service. Lovely cake, coffee and various Teas.
A. P.
Monocle is a really trandy coffee shop/cafe with tasty coffee blend, selection of teas and very delicious pastries. It has some seating, however place is quite small, and few tables outside. They have few snack style food dishes, just perfect for the lunch.
I. T.
One of the best coffee I’ve ever had, only that it’s just a slightly pricey.
T. C.
This was more of a personal pilgrimage for me as a big fan of the Monocle Magazine. The café is very small but there is a small sofa area in the back and additional seating downstairs for those who are eating. It's a very tidy Japanese style affair. Although the food offerings looked good they were too small for a hungry man like me. The drip coffee I had here however was top notch!
A. M.
A pelasant café with an interesting history, friendly staff and great coffee!
They had many of the traditional options, and the flat white that I ordered was exquisitely presented with a lovely taste and chocolatey undertones. A chocolate square is also provided that accenuates the coffee rather well which, along with the taste, justifies the slightly higher price tag of £3.
The interiors are also soothing and pleasant, with a range of their own publications (as the café is an offshoot of their magazine) and some interesting design choices that make the location a pleasure to sit in! With some interesting paintings and a comfortable side room complete with sofas and books, it's certainly a place I'd be happy to frequent as I try out the rest of their menu and peruse the magazines on display!
R.
Super cute cafe with a small but great selection of food. The decor is very modern but cosy. Delicious coffee and the Bircher muesli was amazing! Friendly and prompt service. Will definitely come back here to try their breakfast and sweets.
P. W.
The matcha cake was superb, must try. The coffee was fine. A nice lovely cafe though a bit small and crowded.
J. C.
Matcha latte and cake are really good!
I. A.
Really nice, cosy cafe. Lovely atmosphere, some comfortable seating, cool Japanese toilet, interesting snacks and good coffee, good deals to buy the Monocle magazine as well. It is a bit small so finding somewhere to sit on a Sunday can be very difficult.
J. R.
The brownie is delicious but the place is really very expensive.
M. G.
Monocle is a cute coffee shop with great coffee and friendly staff. There’s a decent enough amount of space if you want to come solo (e.g., to work or study), and they have a couple outdoor seats. Alternatives (recommended) include taking the coffee to-go and heading to the nearby park for a morning stroll among the other park goers.
C. M.
Ok, so the coffee is excellent. But it's an EXTRA ONE POUND for an iced coffee! That is adding a third onto the price and having now had a sip (feeling a fool for paying £4.50...there's a 50p card charge) there are far better iced coffees out there. 100% recommend for hot drinks - but not for cold!
L. A.
Cute little coffee spot in the middle of Marylebone - quite near Regent's Park actually. They serve coffee, wine & other alcoholic drinks, some sweet dishes like macarons. They also serve coffee with soy milk. It looks very urban from the inside - the tables and seats are perfect for a trendy crowd to have a coffee meetup on a Saturday afternoon! Staff is supernice and friendly. Food is amazing. Coffee is absolutely delicious. Vibes are magnificent.
E. S.
This cafe is cozy. I feel at home here.
Food is nice!
J. M.
I went there for the coffee. The cappuccino was great. I thought I saw oatmilk behind the counter which would have made them my favorite place probably ever.
Amazing coffee. If I lived in the neighborhood I would be there very very often and use up many of their loyalty card.
J. P.
This is my favorite place to get a coffee in London by far. Also great to catch up on the latest Monocle magazine.
J. E.
I really like this little cafe. It's a really nice space, the staff are always really friendly and engaging and everything is really tasty. The matcha latte and hot chocolate with matcha cream are both amazing, highly recommended. My only downside is that for a cafe in London, especially with such a great and quiet location, it's really annoying that they don't have wifi.
S. B.
A hidden gem for that needed caffeine fix.
Monocle cafe London serves the best coffee I have tasted for a long time and the team working there are very friendly. The cafe has a minimalist, clean and attractive feel but the layout is somewhat awkward; sitting in the back room was similar to a doctor's waiting room and therefore felt more rigid than relaxed. The Tokyo Monocle cafe offers a more practical customer space. The food and drink prices are higher than average but I would definitely recommend the London cafe and will be back soon for some good quality coffee served in a beautiful Hasami mug.
B. S.
Had a latte, must say I was impressed. Though I read the reviews before I came, and so I know I was in for a nice cuppa.
Place is nice inside, a little small, yet there are two floors.
Will be back with good company :)
J. H.
I should have been here when i had more time.. nice and cozy place! You can get magazine in a offered price too
M. R.
Nice coffee and cardamom buns in a quiet street in Marylebone, a relaxing spot for Sunday afternoons.
D. C.
Very nice cafe! The homemade ice tea surprised me
O. M.
Certainly the best coffee in Marylebone and in my top 10 for best coffee spots in London. My preferred Latte always arrives at the perfect temperature (60 to 70 c) and they throw in a little chocolate too. What a way to start the day.
K. G.
Cozy coffee shop in Marlybone. They were using Allpress coffee beans, which are generally really good quality. Small seating area on ground level, larger one downstairs, but in general quite a small place.
I found monocle by looking for speciality coffee shops, but you won't be able to get a V60 or Aeropress in here. Just your standard espresso based drinks. That said, the latte I had was pretty good.
Prices are more representative of speciality coffee shops (which again, this place is not). Believe it was £3 for the latte .
All in all decent place, but I guess I was expecting something else.
A.
The coffee is nice and the staff are amazing. However it can become very busy, with very limited seating. If you get a table its perfect.
I. J.
Small and cozy coffee shop with ok coffee and light snacks. Seating available downstairs. Friendly staff. Worth a visit for the monocle radio they play in the background - picked up some great new artists (to me, at least) from my visits. It's very much part of the monocle vibe, but qualitatively no better than any other good coffee shop in the area - it's just nestled amongst stores that you just have to look in pre/post coffee...
J. D.
Absolutely immaculate & hip coffee shop with very limited seating. It's a pleasure to have a filter coffee (or drip as we Yanks say) served on a small tray with a small chocolate on the side as well.
My only complaint was that the coffee beans in my black (no cream, no sweetener) filter cup tasted under-roasted to me - what I call "grassy", like an under-ripe fruit picked too early. It's not that my taste buds have been poisoned by over-roasted Starbucks (aka Charbucks) beans, because when I roast my own beans at home I know exactly when I get that distinct under-roasted taste; when I don't roast them for a minute or two past first crack. I can only guess that this raw taste is a reaction against mainstream flavors (e.g. Gregg's or McD's), but the Monocle offering was just too sour for me.
A. K.
Small shop. There is quiet downstairs seating but strong smells from the kitchen. The green tea with white chocolate cake is awesome. Coffee is just okay.
D.
Went there on a Sunday morning, busy enough. The breakfast was amazing and tasty. It’s a very nice cafe but lots of tourists so not a great place for quiet reading. Basement is nice and clean and no windows.
M. F.
A great neighbourhood cafe serving the lovely Allpress bean in groovy cups on smart wooden boards. A limited range of food, but enough options to keep hunger at bay. The staff are very sweet though the coffee making is sometimes a little inconsistent. James is the best barista there, so if you can follow his roster you'll enjoy a lovely brew.
A. W.
This place is cute from the outside. The pop of yellow chairs against the black and white awning is appealing. Once inside, you will find it cramped and noisey. And, realize that it is sort of a Japanese cafe. I had the green matcha hot chocolate that came with a beautiful green swirl on top. The cardamom bun was authentic, as I had tasted in Stockholm. This is the sister cafe to Monocle Magazine, hence the books and branded swag you can buy. Or, read the magazine for free while there.
Tip: Get there early to get a seat. Even though I arrived at 9:30 am, a family with noisy toddlers had camped out and sprawled in the cozy room at the back. In my opinion, this is the loveliest part of the cafe - which had a living room vibe. I also had to step over a hipster's dog, and sat beside a loud person on cell phone. I left rather quickly and did not really enjoy my early Sunday morning experience in this small space. One other thing, it is expensive! Check out the Japanese loo in the basement where the feed from Monocle radio is piped in to the stall.
Also, have the "special", a hot drink and Monocle magazine for £6.
R. S.
Superb coffee and simple, yet creative food. Staff are very helpful and friendly. The only downside is that it feels a but crowded and not very cosy inside.
P. G. M.
I had the yuzu lemonade with a matcha cake. Lovely flavors, difficult to find in other locations. 100 recommended!
R. B.
Nice cosy place. Coffee was nice and great patisserie selection. Staff was welcoming. Over all great experience. Just a bit tight space wise for sitting in.
E. L.
Cute place. Great coffee ☕️
D. B.
Good coffee and matcha drinks. Food is tasty and priced well at £7 per dish. Cakes and cinnamon buns also very tasty. Décor is bijou in a Japanese style, but with a dash of Danish hygge. Staff are friendly and a little eccentric.
F. C. M.
Nice small coffee place with a touch of extra style and quirks that come from its being an offshoot of the eponymous magazine. It's on a quiet street and stopping here for a break can be very relaxing. Coffee is nice and they sell a few interesting things, e.g. lavender chocolate from Wales.
R. J.
i am so happy that this place opened, it seems to be what London has been waiting for. The coffee is just right for me, its the right strength and is dark roasted from a New Zealand blend. Stewart is the manager here and he will always take the time to have a chat with the customers. If you are really fortunate the great man himself Tyler Brulee will be mingling amongst the lattes.
R.
Coffee was ok, food was fine but nothing special. The grilled guryere cheese sandwich was nice but the katsu sandwich was not that great as the bread was just plain white bread and the chicken doesn't taste of katsu. Staff was friendly enough, it was quite busy when we got there so it can be hard to get a seat.
G. E.
Lovely coffee and cardamom buns in a carefully decorated space. Food as always looks great too. The toilet is also well worth a visit 😅😅
S. W.
A cafe that I return to every time I visit London.
Coffee is great with relaxing atmosphere and good vibe.
It is a pleasure to read their magazine at the outdoor seats and enjoy the lovely coffee in the red brick street
V. L.
Lovely staff, lovely matcha pannacota. Perhaps slightly on the harder side but the taste is lovely. Interesting iced tea. I heard their savoury dishes are really nice as well but I didn't have the stomach for it. Perhaps next time.
E. J.
Despite being situated just off Marylebone high street, Monocle cafe lacks any pretension you may expect for the area.
The coffee is above decent and the presentation on little airplane style trays, which really they could do without, is kind of sweet. Speaking of sweet, if you are in the market for a mind-blowing chelsea bun, despite this being a Japanese themed cafe, they are pretty brilliant here.
S. S.
The design of the cafe is in typical Monocle fashion. The seating is always full and the coffee is great. You can also pick up your latest copy of the publication and browse through back editions. Wouldn't go out of my way to rest here.
C. V.
Lovely staff. I came here two mornings in a row, while in London for a business trip. Service is wonderful and the drinks are great. Will come back again this April!
K. A.
Great coffee, limited seats.
c. o.
Cozy space to drink a coffee. You can eat some food as well. I go here when i meet a friend in malybone.
C. R.
Cosy place with good coffee, a great selection of cakes and a savoury menu. Nice decor and a small adjacent room which makes you feels like home. The space downstairs is also great.
J. R.
Very good for a place for coffee. Team were attentive and efficient. Makes use of a small footprint very well. Only ask would be to have some simpler choices on the menu, for example, a bacon roll.
K. G.
There was a lot of hype surrounding the opening of the Monocle Cafe, but when I visited recently I can see why some people have been less than impressed. The staff have been consistently lovely and it's worth checking out the toilets for some fun futuristic Japanese design - but I do wish they'd ditch the TV's in the lounge area - they're depressingly distracting.
G. B.
A Monocle reader? your magazine's personification in a coffee shop!
A lovely little cafe on Chiltren street (and the only inconvenience is that is too tiny) with little delights. Ideal to go on a morning or afternoon, pick up a copy of the Monocle (which you can always find available for purchase in the coffee shop), have a cup of coffee and pastries.
The decor is relaxing, color and lighting, furniture... You will be happy to sit in a place with a crowd that appreciates the same taste as yours.
C. L.
Very cosy place to be. They have a little living room where people can sit together and share the space. The food is a selection of Asian food which tastes good. They have more seating downstairs if the ground floor is filled up. The toilet is rather futuristic with a pre warmed seat andany different options to make you experiencene as pleasant as possible.
N. G.
A spin-off from the famous Monocle magazine, this little café has all you could expect from the team behind this trendsetting powerhouse.
A devilish attention to details with every piece sourced from the best craftsmen, simple yet well-styled design, delicious Allpress coffee, Swedish and Japanese pastries...
If you are a Monocle fan you will love it. If not, you will love it too
A. D.
Overall, great! But I'd say it isn't anything that special especially compared to the rather high pricing. I do quite like the chicken katsu sandwich though it may be better if served with actual chips and not crisps.
G. W.
Inspired by Tokyo's own version, Monocle Cafe in Marylebone is a two-floor mingle house for fans of the magazine. Monocle 24 broadcast plays over the speakers, with Bloomberg distracting the corners of your eyes when seated at the back of the room.
The New Zealand-sourced coffee had a good taste, but was a tad too cold when served. The Japanese cakes, sourced by nearby Lanka, look delicious, though the strawberries were hard to taste when surrounded by cream. The staff are quite friendly, and are open for a bit of a chat.
There's a private – and larger – space for hire downstairs, with plenty more room than there are seats above for the public. Hopefully this will be opened to all in the future.
This cafe would be best enjoyed at quiet moments on your own, as the intimacy of it's couches and seats means hearing the conversation of others.
A. J.
One of the best almond milk cappuccinos in all of London. Also, don't miss their cardamom bun -- ask them to warm it up for you and loose yourself in its warm buttery, peppery bliss!!!
M. L.
Good coffee, food and service at this sweet cafe.
A. B.
Cute, aesthetically pleasing coffee shop. Get a small piece of chocolate with your coffee. There’s more seating towards the back and they have Japanese toilets 👌🏼
R. P.
Great coffee and love the cinnamon buns! Do a good healthy Japanese & Swedish brekkie/brunch too. Also nice decor surroundings to sit and eat.
J. Z.
Very small cafe. Good coffee, but too small to support working in the cafe, especially since it gets quite busy. No wifi, but they do give you a piece of chocolate with your coffee.
K. C.
My favourite local cafe. The Japanese breakfast is simple and light but satisfying. Don't leave without trying the hot chocolate with matcha cream!
P. K.
Lattes were really nice and the food was delicious. Our group had cinnamon bun, cardamom bun, Pana cotta and tiramasu. They were all tasty and left us wanting more. Would come back again.
M. (.
Pretty good coffee not gonna lie. Not cheap though
D. S.
Great cafe, they serve delicious coffee and food.
Come early in the afternoon to get your food, they don't serve it in the evenings.
You get a little chocolate square with your coffee, which is very nice!
R. R.
Serves Japanese light meals and seems to be popular with lots of Japanese trendy types (so I'm assuming the food is authentic).
A pleasant twist on the usual coffee shop set-up.
L. C.
Super stylish cafe in a quite fancy side street in Marylebone. Very hipster, everything is beautifully presented.
P.s. The hot chocolate with matcha cream is a masterpiece.
M. G.
Great coffee, friendly staff. Maybe a bit small (or always busy) to offer space for everyone.
The kind of coffee shop that I'd love to have in my area
A. Y.
Cakes from Lanka...if you want to avoid the journey, here’s a choice!
G. V.
The “famous iced coffee” was overpriced and not much different than any other iced coffee.
L. S.
MY FAV CAFE IN LONDON! it's so lovely and atmospheric, and I find the staff are really friendly too. Getting to read all the monocle mags for free is a nice plus too ;)
T. R.
Always busy, including on a Sunday. A few things that are a downer: no wi-fi and only 1 toilet. Seating can be a little awkward. I never knew the guys sold food too, until last week so you can have a hot drink, some cakes etc. Or meals to eat. Shame about the wether but the outdoor space looks like a better option. There is a downstairs and again very busy
L. M.
I really like this place, attention to detail is excellent. The coffee is very good amongst a well designed interior. Staff are often intense but can also be friendly.
N.
As you'd expect a very stylish little coffee shop/cafe. The coffee is first class, the service charming. The patrons are largely as stylish as the place itself.
J. D.
Monocle is a lot more than simply a cafe. It's a brand which encompasses a magazine and a myriad of personal items. For me there is something despicable about the manner in which the magazine elevates personal consumption to a semi-religous level of seriousness. The Magazine is packed with absurdly reverential and humourless articles about every aspect of contemporary life. How to buy the perfect white shirt or pair of socks and then on the next page an article about sustainability. There's an opinion about everything here but no coherent personality or identity.
It also seems to me entirely "rootless" detached from any specific geography or regional identity.
Monocle is the religious text of the rootless, global liberal elite with their carefully wrought opinions about everything but completely devoid of real experience.
However the coffee and service are excellent so perhaps this venture isn't entirely nihilistic.
M. B.
Loved the interior but didn't enjoy my cup of coffee as much as other cafes in London. The coffee definitely needed to be paired with the chocolate they provide.
F. M.
This café is simply amazing. Such a great atmosphere, delicious cakes, beautiful coffee and friendly staff. What a great combination.
G. C.
Small cosy cafe in Marylebone area. Not in the high street, thus you will have to do a small search to find it. There is some extra seating downstairs. Excellent quality of coffee and of course you are in the source of one of the most hister magazines; The Monocle.
M. D.
Nice upscale Japanese inspired cafe. Small with limited seating but worth it. The match tea latte and cardamom bun were delicious.
M. N.
Nice cafe with good coffee and stuff.
S. L.
A very nice place to grab a coffee ☕️ or dessert and explore the neighborhood. The cafe itself is tiny and you may struggle to find a place to seat
P.
I've never been to a coffee shop where so many people are welcomed by name. It says a lot about the staff and clients. And the cinnamon buns are wonderful.
G. M.
Launched in February 2007, Monocle is an international lifestyle magazine, headquartered in London and focused on global affairs, business, culture and design. Aside from the publication, they also have shops around the world and this month opened a cafe here in London. It's located on Chiltern street, Marylebone, surrounded by beautiful antiques shops and art galleries.
As soon as you walk in the café, you enter the Monocle world as everything inside seamlessly encompasses the brand.
I visited on their opening day and they had not launched the food menu yet. They do have cinnamon and cardamon buns by Fabrique Bakery and cakes made by Japanese Chef Masayuki Hara.
The espressos are made on La Marzocco machine and coffee beans are from Allpress Roastery. I ordered a macchiato, which was good in taste, although the milk didn't have the creamy texture I am used to getting from my favourite independent coffee shop.
£3.00 for a macchiato is above London's average coffee prices, but here you don't pay just for the beverage, but to be part of the Monocle world.
C. H.
Delicious coffee. Loved the Cinnamon and cardamom buns! Only wish they had more seating inside.
C. C.
Can get crowded. Prawn katsu sandwich is nice (but sells out quickly; so try another). Coffee is ok too (if you get something from the nearby Monocle shop, you'll get a voucher for a free coffee - use it). Go to the back, sit there, watch some Monocle TV while eating your grub. Some magazines to flip thru. Don't forget to also relieve yourself at the toilet - all in with a Toto washlet!
F. W.
Wonderful little cafe. Parts are furnished like a living room. Never been there during peak times but off-peak the atmosphere is tranquil. Love it!
A. G.
Disappointing coffee, but nice everything else. Japanese breakfast looks good, will try. Macarons were quite good, especially the green tea ones.
I. Z.
Nice coffee and buns!
鲁.
Good coffee and tart, however a bit overpriced
R. L.
I don't go here enough but everything is great. They have an incredible cake with matcha and white chocolate which is a must and all the drinks are very well made.
K. R.
Great coffee and cakes with relaxed atmosphere.
O. K.
Looks like a great place but it’s small, hard to circulate as it was packed with nowhere to sit... Didn’t get to try the coffee
M. H.
Off the beaten track, and part of the Tyler Brulee publishing empire, they serve great coffee (and food) and for coffee seekers it's a must try. The Monocle shop is located about 5 mins walk away.
M. N.
Great atmosphere, coffee and food always delicious. You can also grab a cheap drink during happy hour! Highly recommended!
D. N.
A delightful experience with no detail overlooked. Monocle can put their hand to anything and make it something I would go back to time and time again. Not just great coffee, but great design.
R. F.
Such a nice little coffee shop. Staff were super friendly and there were lots of cakes to choose from. Yum! :)
S. W.
The interior is truly beautiful, very simple yet chic. The coffee is lovely and the cakes are nice; good for a quick break.
C. W.
good coffee and friendly staff, and the seating area downstairs was super cute :)
S. L.
Nice staff, good coffee but quite a smoky atmosphere downstairs from the kitchen. It made my eyes sting
S. L.
Great coffee, tasty bagels, friendly staff and a nice relaxed atmosphere.
C. S.
Fab little venue with awesome food. Good value and friendly service. Had the Totally English breakfast, won't be needing to eat for a while! 😎
L. R.
Great interior but the coffee is quite average and rather expensive. Downstairs gets very hot, and the staff could do with being friendlier.
C. B.
Lovely cafe exhibiting all that we love about Monocle magazine. Being from New Zealand - this has got to be the best flat white coffee in London!
Z. X.
Nice place to hang out with friends 🎀
H. S.
Excellent food and service! Special mention good to the cardamom buns - awesome. Great place to hangout, nice clean calm vibe.
M. S. (. B.
Wonderful ambience with a very nice menue. Very nice peeople are working in the Café.
Inside it hase a very unique, typically japanese toilet🧡
R. B.
Great coffee and cosy ambience - worth a try!
T. L.
Great coffee, and very popular. Could do with a better space for people to wait when ordering drinks/food to go.
G. W.
This was a nice visit. It has a room which I call 'feel like you're home' with a casual feel and books for you to read. There seems to be a downstairs but not clear what's down there.
C. W.
One of the best places in London to grab a coffee. Just don’t have one of the Cinnamon Swirls. Your waistline will regret it
R. S.
Had two cups of coffee and they were spot on! Can't comment on the food but the coffee is top notch!
R. B.
I would just say: chicken katsu sandwich. Just order that. So delicious. Even more if it friend works in monocle and have a discount. The vibe is cool. But is really small.
P. S.
Cute little coffee shop in the middle of Marylebone, quite near Regent's Park actually. They serve a really good cup of coffee.
A. O.
It's a classic that you can't miss in Marylebone. Cosy. Designy. Delicious cinnamon buns delicious. Perfect Earl Gray. Instagrammable street. What else can one ask for?
J. M.
Unique and has excellent coffee. I wish there were more places like it.
J. Z.
Very nice café with good quality food and coffee. Maybe a little too small but probably due to its popularity.
d.
My favourite place for brunch in town!
N. H.
Very good drink and snacks, nice and friendly staff. enjoyed their breakfast ,and this is one of my go to list for breakfast and coffee.
U. L.
Beautiful cafe & very good coffee - They use Allpress beans and their baristas know what they're doing. Food is fresh & well priced - try the beef katsu!
S. B.
A cozy little coffee shop. Wouldn't expect to be able to spend a couple of hours getting work done here but perhaps nice for a coffee/tea stop.
S. D. S.
Fav coffee spot in London. Nice staff and service, good coffee, lovely seating are, but avoid the weekends where is too busy.
R. E.
The fit-out, menu and customer service of this cafe do not live up to Monocle's brand. My meal tasted like it was not long out of a refrigerator, and the coffee was average.
D. R.
Solid food, great staff and amazing atmosphere. Read up on latest monocle while you enjoy your day cafe.
A. A. T.
Modern cafe with sleek design. A good place to chill and have a hot chocolate. Wonderful!
K. S.
Relaxing place to sit, though there is no wifi. Coffee is consistently good, as are the cinnamon buns (from Fabrique).
J. O.
A very famous coffee shop loved by fashion guys from all over the world. Small place, very stylish.
T. K.
Most cafés in London can't make a good flat white. Even more have nothing interesting to read. Luckily this one falls into neither of those categories. Even if it is a little expensive.
D. J.
Hip spot with great coffee. If you are looking this place up and didn't stumble randomly upon the cafe, then you know exactly what the feel is.
J. T.
Small cafe in London but a must visit place. Lovely coffee / tea and a great environment to relax.
F. D. h.
Lovely staff and coffee. Would recommend to take out unless the cute little living room area is free
S. A.
Loved the place, great coffee
Y. K.
The cardamom buns rival those at Fabrique
S. K. G.
Comfortable cafe, good coffee. Avoid the basement seating though, very warm like an oven on a hot day.
M.
Great service and nice food. I wish they would stop people using laptops during busy lunch hours though as it’s tough to get a seat
R. S.
One of the best spots in London for a relaxing cuppa. (if you can get a seat) The food here is great too!
K. D.
I love the cafe, tiny but nice. Coffee is good quality. But not impressed with staff
J. G.
Another great read from team Monocle.
B. A.
Love them
S. L.
Beautiful little cafe in quite street. Simple menu with decent coffee. Outdoor table is my fav.
B. H.
The cardamom bun is worth the visit alone. A charming cafe with excellent coffee and quality baked goods.
R. B.
Excellent cafe with a great atmosphere. Plenty of reading material and free chocolate with coffee.
A. H.
This was the best hot chocolate and bun ever... definitely recommend this place.. staff are friendly and don't kick you out when it's closing time...I will be back again..
A. K.
Loveliest selection of culture and Matcha in one place. Enjoy a drink and a magazine just for 6 pounds
M. N.
Small place but the best coffee, their taco rice and matcha cake is definitely recommend.
L.
The uniqueness of this cafe is in fact that it was designed by Japanese designer. It also combines some food options with great coffee
G. H.
Light, compact, hipster coffee-house serving sandwiches, global snacks/meals and elegant patisserie.
J. W.
Cute place with good dessert options. A bit overpriced but you are paying for the environment I guess. Downstairs was a bit hot also.
N. X.
Lovely cafe with cozy seating and yummy food
D. P.
Nice vibe with seating downstairs. The coffee is good and the staff are very friendly.
s.
Really good coffee, nice seating area, and the Cardamon pastry was super good. Get that pastry.
M. B.
Cozy cafe with nice selection of sweets and light meals. The matcha hot chocolate is a tasty treat!
S. W.
Small town, so not a lot of choice. But quirky place with good coffee and pastries and by a long shot the best coffee in town.
D. F.
One of the best coffee shop experiences I had. Rich cappuccino.
J. B.
There's a lot I want to hate about this place, but the staff are friendly, the coffee is good and priced at what you'd expect, and the firehouse across the street is enchanting.
S.
One of my favourite cafes in London. Excellent food and distinct vibe
A. G.
Amazingly kind and welcoming baristas. Delicious matcha tart and fresh mint and ginger tea(literally).
J. L.
Best matcha latte in London - like literally. And their matcha cake is also absolutely delicious.
K. N.
Very small, even by coffee shop standards. Nice relaxing atmosphere though, friendly staff. Mediocre beverages.
Z. S.
Beautiful café in Japanese style but unfortunately no wifi and a little pricey.
E. K.
The cafe is simple and clean. The coffee is delicious, but the coffee bun's too sweet
J. J. S.
Decent coffee, great pastries by Fabrique and a good food menu including Scandinavian and Japanese breakfast.
M. C.
The design was simple amazing. Coffee wasn't bad and their cakes look really great!
K.
Could get quite packed. Coffee is good, but food looks pretty sad and unappealing; it tastes fine though.
D. A.
Great coffee and selection of cakes/treats. Prawn katsu sandwich is not to be missed!
K. P.
The best flat white of the week
Y. B.
Warm and cozy Japanese style cafe. Coffee and food was amazing. :)
S. B.
Great Japanese influenced coffee shop, incredible quality and lovely staff.
C. B.
Amazing coffee, fantastic staff! I like the green hair one
A. S.
Place is not big but things are nice
A. S.
Great coffee, great staff. The only downside is you have to overhear wanky London conversations. I overheard "oh that's sooo monocle"
M. C.
Was pleasantly surprised to see they have Japanese pastries from Lanka. Also great coffee and premises.
B. X.
Good coffee, I’ll give them that. But it's way too crowded and full of hype-chasers.
ف. ا.
In my opinion, one of the best coffees in London, you to try it when you come to London.
J. S.
The staff were lovely and helpful. The coffee and food were okay but nothing particularly special.
R. M.
Very small but will please the Monocle fans. Good pastries, and you can find the books here as well.
T. S.
I must say the coffee is Top 5 in London, most definitely, and the pastries and desserts eclectic
A. Y. (.
