Reviews of The Travel Café - Islington

I really enjoy coming here to grab a takeaway coffee (takeaway only for now) and to soak in the atmosphere for a moment. It feels like an oasis in the concrete desert of London. Attached is what the shop looks like at the moment (post lockdown)
The coffee beans are from Monmouth and the coffee is really well made.
The plants in the photo are both decorative and on sale throughout the shop, going from tiny succulents all the way to free standing house plants. I definitely recommend stopping by even to browse 😊

Absolute gem of a place, really fantastic plants, by far better then any garden centre I've been to. Lots of reasonably priced, stylish options (I got 4 plants for £25) and the woman working there was amazing and incredibly helpful - thank you for bearing with my multiple questions. I'll be back as soon as I make some more room for plants!

Nice Place, staff very friendly. I had the toasted bloomer, ham and cheese. Sadly it was dry and ham to cheese ratio, personally wasn't good. They do fresh OJ and I was told by my Mum the coffee was lovely.

Staff were nice and I liked the decor but my iced latte wasn't great - it wasn't iced! - it came with about 3 ice cubes in which melted immediately. In a way I guess it's good value since there was certainly more milk than in a usual iced latte (less space taken up by ice!), but it really wasn't cold enough. Also the cafe smelled vaguely of damp dog? I wanted to like it here but probably won't go back.

I have been to Kevin's shops a number of times and he is always welcoming. He explains plant care very well. The store has such a warm atmosphere and amazing plants. I would recommend all my friends try this place. Thanks Kevin for the hang plant.
Regards Yusef and Julian

A hidden gem of a coffee shop. I can't quite figure out if the main purpose is selling plants/bonsai trees etc or the coffee, but the coffee is really good (Monmouth coffee if I recall correctly), alternative milk options and well priced. Service always really friendly/polite. Takeaway only as nowhere to sit.

Very pleasant cosy interior. I rushed by, and was attracted by it, went in and didn't regret. I had a bloomer toast with ham and cheese - with salad and sauce - very good. Staff is so friendly, I spent an hour there, and everybody coming in for coffee had a lovely chat with them. Coffee was great - Australian. Strongly recommend.

Cute little cafe that sells plants and has an espresso bar. I imagine in normal times this would be a full cafe with food, but these are not normal times! Went in today to purchase coffee beans and the guy working was super friendly and they had all social distancing measures in place.

Really cute little cafe. Attracts the young crowd. Pretty good coffee, can't complain. Plenty of choice in food. Slightly pricey , could be a bit cheaper on everything.

My favourite café in the area! The staff is always nice and helpful. A lot of beautiful plants (which I can hopefully get someday) and delicious drinks. I especially recommend oat milk chai late, definitely the best I’ve ever had!

Picked up a plant 🪴 and a coffee ☕️ , lovely service and the coffee was genuinely one of the best I’ve had in a v long time. Will defo be getting more coffee from here! And fingers crossed I don’t kill my plant! 🤞🏼

Really nice new cafe, I had the breakfast bagel which was amazing!!
T. M.
Local cosy and friendly cafe with a great line in toasties and coffees. Lots of outlets, so good for working.
L. D.
Delicious breakfast and coffee and the staff is really nice! Definitely recommend trying it out!!
A. P.
Cute place! Good coffees and I love the addition of the plants. Just very expensive for what you get. Plants are pricey and food menu is really limited to mostly toasties and pastries that are on the bar

The MOST wonderful cafe on the WHOLE of Holloway road!!! The two Sisters who run the cafe are the most wonderful, friendly, professionals cafe owners you'll ever meet. The cafe itself is cozy, beautiful, and carefully laid out. The food is prepared with great delicacy, and tastes just wonderful!!! And the coffee is superb... All that wrapped up in service that can't be beat. Come on in and grab a coffee and a bagel... It'll be the best decision you made all day!

I have quite a few business meetings at this Cafe and it's a great spot for the. The internet is good / free and it's not too noisy. The Japanese owners are super sweet and very polite. The porridge (from the big pot on the stove) is delicious.

Beautiful selection of plants and very rare and stunning plant pots!😍

The coffee here is of a higher standard than other places. The staff are friendly and modest. During covid they were a blessing - offering some hope of return to normality.

We walked into this cute Cafe having just arrived to Islington. We were warmly greeted by the owners and was served an incredible breakfast and one of the best lattes I've ever had. I look forward to going back on my next visit to London.

A word of caution to oat milk drinkers: their oat milk is extremely sweet. My partner got an oat latte and I got an oat matcha latte and I found mine undrinkable because of the sweetness. I expect good cafes to make sure that their alt milks are neutral enough to avoid significantly altering the taste of the drinks (imo, good barista milks like Oatly provide a really good fatty, neutral base). My partner also found the oat latte sweet, and in addition, she found the coffee itself to be a bit too acidic and smoky.
Leaving the rating at 3, since the two drinks with oat milk base are all we have to go off of. The interior was cute and the barista was pleasant. But given the choice of cafes around Holloway and Angel that do decent alt milk drinks, I don’t think we’ll be back :(

Nice and relaxing cafe atmosphere - they offer deliciously fresh berries ice drinks!

Beautiful coffee and lovely waiter. Atmosphere and decor is calm and rustic. Shame it is only open until 5pm or I would go during the week too. Very lovely.

Lovely place and amazing staff💕 Had a Matcha Latte, Egg Benedict and a little homemade cake! My mum had their cappuccino, absolutely loved it 💕 It's a very wonderful and sweet place!

Cosy, chic cafe with bare brick interior and 2nd hand furniture. Limited menu but tasty choices, and smooth, delicious coffee. Good place to chill on a Sunday afternoon when it's not busy.
A. C.
One of my favourite local Coffee shops, the coffees always excellent and all the greenery inside leaves a smile on my face.

Cute, trendy café not far from Holloway road station. An ideal place for any travelling Arsenal supporters looking for a relaxed cup of tea or coffee before a game. The homemade chocolate brownies, soups and lattes are delicious, the mood relaxed and the staff extremely kind and helpful. Cosy interior coupled with tasty food, you’ll never want to leave. I definitely recommended to any and all passing by.

Nice to see this place open again with two 'pop up' enterprises sharing the space. Not sure how long they will be there but great to look at some beautiful plants whilst having an amazing coffee.

Delicious! Ordered a breakfast bagel, you have to try it
A. C.
Nice cafe with friendly service, good food and coffee, however not the greatest of choices. They insist on you paying after every order instead of setting up a tab which can be a hassle if you're there for some time.
S. J.
So charming and staff are so helpful. Let you browse at your own pace and excellent coffee.
B.
Great coffee , lovely atmosphere, and exceptional service.
