Reviews of The Travel Café - South Bank

Rented the back room private meeting space and it was great! TV with HDMI to cast contents from laptop, staff were super friendly. Drinks included were fantastic, especially the lattes. The cafe itself (front end) is now more of a plant store.

Serene, relaxed and cosy. This is the only cafe in the area I will go in, order a coffee, and simply sit on my own for twenty minutes to drink it. With orchestral music in the background and surrounded by plants, it's a great escape from the outside. Coffee is lovely and staff are unwaveringly polite and welcoming in a quiet and gentle way. This isn't a hipster trap, it's a very human and easy space to spend a time. Oh and on the plant note, they're very knowledgeable and it's a great place to procure that plant you need for your bedroom.

Cute hip little cafe, very stylish with lovely staff and tasty food. Not suuper cheap but perfectly worth it. Also cater for vegan and gluten free.

Hello Everyone. I am a danish traveller that had the treat of my lifetime at Travel Café. I have spend a business week in London and by a lucky touch of Fortune we passed by The Travel Café the very first day and found the Pop up kitchen of Carmine. The food was served with great style by Irene and is unique: it is mouth–, mind– and eyeopening. If you want to educate your taste buds run as fast as you can to The Travel Café since the pop-up kitchen is closing soon. The food you will get is made with talent, care, love and experience. Every dish has its own direction and horizon and sky. You can just sit back and wait for a culinary miracle arriving in front of you from a tiny kitchen. And that at a very affordably price. Thank you Carmine and Irene for sharing your passion for food with us, the fortunate passbyers, you treat everyone as in any Michelin star restaurant. We will never forget the lunches and breakfasts we had at this place! Thank you profoundly.

Amazing coffee - Monmouth - soya 30p extra but worth it. And they’re still accepting reusable cups! 💜 Really friendly staff & such a calm environment. The only risk is that you’ll end up buying a mini cactus collection - they’re too cute!

Lovely spot to have a coffee and then buy some plants! We got a beautiful Calathea and the lady was very helpful and walked us through the different options based on our requirements. I always pay a visit when I'm in the neighbourhood!

Wonderful place, very peaceful and delicious coffee (lots of milk alternatives 👏🤗, maybe vegan cake next time)
A. T.
It’s a cozy and nice cafe. Had a great matcha latte.
C. B.
Lovely staff, cant talk for coffee as only regularly pops in for their plants of which I have bought many. Great choice and really cute pots as well. Fairly priced. Long live the travel cafe!

This is a lovely relaxing place to catch your breath. It is for coffee aficionados though, although you can get soft drinks and tea, it really is about the coffee and amazing house plants.
It isn't a place to go for lunch - I have never known them serve food. They do a few pastries. So for coffee, plants and a bit r&r it's five star. If you go expecting lunch you'll be disappointed.
R. L.
This cafe is so cute. It has plants everywhere, like a really cute garden spot in the middle of nowhere. We had delicious coffee and rich hot chocolate! The only reason I didn't give five stars is because they got rid of the Waterloo Star Card, where you would get a free plant with your coffee 😫
D. L.
I did a wonderful coffee tasting here. I like to think I know a thing or two about coffee, and I do, but I also learned a lot and, very important, the experience was very enjoyable. Mehmet was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and the Cafe itself cannot be described in any way other than charming. Come here for good coffee, plants, art work, or to book travel to coffee plantations! The little shop does all.
R. A.
They love coffee here. Climpsons with real care and attention, full range of dairy free milks. It is a tiny space, but you are cheek by jowl with a glorious plant collection which will turn a quick coffee break into the most uplifiting 15 minutes in your day!
D. M.
The staff are really friendly and the coffee from Monmouth is great, but what's memorable about this coffee shop is all the lovely plants they sell, which create a beautiful, serene atmosphere - a real achievement for such a busy road. Go for a coffee, buy a pot plant too!
L. S.
Lovely cafe, with attentive staff and tasteful decor. Filled with many plants and books, it feels like an oasis in a very busy area near Waterloo. I loved the choice of background music -relaxing and not too loud- and the wooden furniture and floor.
T. D.
Beautiful space, full of stylish indoor plants and play relaxing music. Great atmosphere and good coffee/ teas, but HUGE shame they close so early, 4pm?? Had to kick loads of people out?? No wonder this country has such a terrible alcohol drinking culture when lovely places like this where you can spend your time kick everyone out at 4pm...
H. J.
The best coffee in the area - I personally love their flat white and the atmosphere inside can make you forget that you are in the UK :P

the cutest cafe i’ve seen!! the drinks were delicious and the décor is beautiful. a very quiet and peaceful location! highly recommend to those who are travelling or even want a cozy spot to chill. 10/10, a truly amazing place.

This is the best breakfast you will ever have! :) We were in london for a week, and we decided to eat there every day. The 'pop up kitchen by Carmine' was the reason, not the cafe itself. If you are lucky to be served by Carmine, and find him again in another place, then you will experience an absolute feast. For those of you commenting on slow service, please think about the elegence of the food you ate. If you want fast service, go to a fast food joint. But, respect good food and love served to you. We only waited a max 15-20 minutes, but every second was worth the wait for what we were served and experienced. Carmine puts extraordinary care into each dish, and it was like having Michelin star breakfast every morning. We were so impressed, we are trying to find a way for him to move to our town in Italy. Thank you Carmine for the best breakfast we ever had! :)

Very cute little cafe with lots of cute plants for sale. They sell Monmouth coffee there, would be a great place to sit down, have some me time or friends time with a nice cup of coffee.

The best cold pressed juice ever. I had carrot and apple and my friend carrot, apple and beetroot juice with grilled pork with emmental cheese sandwiches which were really delicious. And staff were very friendly. Highly recommend the cafe if you're addicted to cold pressed juice like me.
S. H.
Really good selection of plants. I loved the Spanish lady at the counter, really patient and helpful. Definitely plan to go back and highly recommend!
H. S.
I love plants, coffee and travel. The perfect place. I just stumbled upon it, my daughter and I bought some plants and hot chocolate. Will be back for more even though it takes us 40 mins to get here
S. L.
Amazing service and drinks. Perfect for travelers and those who want a chill morning. Decor is very modern and fits the theme of the cafe. Would highly recommend

Visited twice; very pleasant experience both times, enjoyed my coffee, lovely interior, friendly staff, really convenient location.
Looking forward to returning to try their food.
The only downside for anyone wanting to use the space for work/study - their wifi was a bit slow at times.
L. T.
Great coffee shop / indoor plant store. Great flat white and well-curated selection of indoor plants. The service is also faultless, the we're very helpful.
S. P.
Slightly expensive (£2.50 for a tea). But everything we had was nice. It was really quiet (no music) but that's what I prefer. The service was a bit slow, hence the 4 star rating.
B. Q.
Place when you can buy coffee and plant. Didn't buy a plant but coffee was great and it's in big cups what I really like. Good service also.
A. A.
I'm a huge coffee enthousiast and was a barista for a few months and I was extremely impressed with the coffee and the skill of the barista :-) Location is terrific and the ambiance of the café, along with the decoration was cozy, upbeat, and sorta "zen". All in all I thoroughly recommend it!
E. B.
Really helpful, informed and attentive staff! They know their succulents and were very patient and happy to advise you on what plants to buy and how to care of them.
R. M.
Charming new cafe with really sweet South Korean owners, bright and airy room and excellent coffee and alternatives (try the green tea latte!). I wish these guys well.
J. H.
Really great coffee and brunch! We had an eggs benedict and a Kashmiri masala hash with crispy egg and hollandaise - YUM!
A. G.
Very friendly and helpful staff that provided everything we were looking for in a meeting space. Would definitely recommend and hope to be back for a coffee in future.
E. C.
Friendly staff and a great latte. Well designed in/exteriors with nice soft jazz music in the background. Good Wi-Fi too.

(Translated) Edit: believe me, I've tried all the coffee shops around Lower Marsh, this is the best brunch you can get here.
Very surprised. I thought it was a regular coffee shop, but they had Brunch and dessert menus. The display was very beautiful. The three Madeleine cakes were actually in bulk, and they were scared when they were served. Pancake feels average, but it may be because I don't really like this. Coffee in the Lower Marsh area is not very tasty, but it is good to have breakfast. The clerk was very enthusiastic, just that the two felt overwhelmed.

Edit: believe me, I've tried all the coffee shops around Lower Marsh, this is the best brunch you can get here.

(Translated) As I was studying English in the UK, my baggage grew so much that I sent a courier to Korea through this place! Much cheaper than a local post office and close to Waterloo Station, so it was easy to find! I think it would be nice to hear a lot of travelers!
(Original)

(Translated) It was a cafe run by a Korean couple! I went to Korea to deliver a parcel, and the male staff gladly came to help me with the delivery of my parcel despite the break time ㅠㅠ Thank you so much!! The price was a little over 8 kilos, but I paid 60 pounds for packing materials (£15) for the delivery.
(Original)

(Translated) It is a cafe run by Koreans. The croissants and flat white were so delicious~ I wanted to eat brunch, but I was a bit disappointed that I didn't offer it~ But on the first day of my trip, I accidentally went to a cafe run by a Korean, so I felt relieved~
(Original)

(Translated) Newly opened, this cafe won me over for decoration and service. I didn't give 5 stars because you don't have snack options yet to go with the excellent coffees and teas. In the opening week, each customer gets a small plant, a treat! :)
Also, the coffee is proposed to be a place for travelers to rest and better plan your trip / stay in London, with future availability of a kit ~ ~ but with London and oyster card.
(Original)
