Reviews of The Wren Coffee
G. C.
This cafe is set in a working church. What a lovely setting for a cafe.Take a very serene and calming break from your hectic office job and relax with a single origin coffee. Barrista is super knowledgeable too. Definitely be back.
S. V.
The place is lovely, waitress is really nice, coffee is good, and it is a nice place to work from - really recommend
J. M.
It’s a bit smaller than expected, but still pretty interior and quiet- good place to come with a laptop and work or read a book and relax. The coffees are served i plastic or paper cups, the vibe would be better if I got a mug or a glass. The coffee was ok. Not bad but not amazing too. Overall still with visiting though- especially to work or study or read a book.
M. P.
Fantastic atmosphere in an old church converted into a cafe. Great coffee too
T. H.
Great coffee served by nice people in a stunning grade 1 listed Wren interior. I've not had their pastries but they look tasty. Not too busy, you can always get a seat.
T. J.
Great coffee in a quiet, uplifting venue in the heart of the city.

we dropped by before our visit to st pauls cathedral, and had a delicious lunch. we were very impressed by the helpfulness of the service staff (after a couple of unpleasant experiences at other cafés)! the lady taking our order (sorry I didn't get your name!) double-checked with me if i'm okay with having honey in my chai latte (the way they make it). the place is beautiful too and was very comfortable.
B. K.
I like this place to work and drink coffee. They have wifi and many spaces to sit.
P. R.
Excellent independent coffee shop with seasonal salads and cakes made on site. The coffee shop is instead St. Nicholas Cole Abbey. Great for lunch and on a sunny day sitting outside on the terrace for a meeting or catch up with friends.
T. C.
The Wren is accommodated in a beautiful historical church building near St Paul's Cathedral overlooking Millennium Bridge. They have everything a great cafe needs, friendly staff, local beans, fresh food, nice space and supplements for coffee and tea lovers. It's a whole package of amazing experience. The only thing is it could potentially get a bit too busy during the week when office people come by for lunch break.
M. U.
Very nice place to spend an hour of your day. Mansion House station is very close by. Coffee costs around 3 pounds. Very nice people serves you, very nice. Would definitely come again if i am close by. Long Black coffee could be a good choice.
Z. K.
Beautiful shop and lovely experience. They were helpful and kind staff. The food and coffee were both yummy! Lots of locals- clearly a favorite spot.
L. L.
This coffee house is a decadent setting for any catch up. Yet it maintains the feeling of intimacy.
Their home made cakes are delish, the coffee I'm told by my companions is great and their tea selection on point.
And as an added bonus, as a regular visitor, one can always count on the staff to be pleasant and take serving you seriously.

Breathing room. *sighs*
While good enough coffee is easy to find in London, staying away from the town’s frantic pace can be quite a hard task in its most dense areas, even when one seeks refuge in cafés.
And The Wren is exactly that alternative — a breathing room (after you regain your breath upon entering the breathtaking space of the church it is located in) to enjoy good coffee and cakes and snacks and more, while in The City itself!
The young staff seems to take pride in their preparations, and service is efficient without being hurried, and very friendly.
Food is simple and unpretentiously good, which can be a plus in a town like London, too. Seems to have vegetarian options everyday.
And there’s the striking space itself, of course, permeating all things that happen here. Though there is music, there is so much space that one actually perceives the silence. Natural lights flows in through stained glass (some colorful abstractions contrasting with the golden ornaments on the walls and ceiling). While the dimensions make one feel small, they also enable a subtle and gradual expansion of the senses, and maybe of the spirit too — after all, this is a church that’s still used for its original purpose of helping people realize a different dimension to life.
A place to be thoroughly enjoyed, where one feeds body and soul.
E. m.
Lovely location for a coffee shop, inside is really cool with high ceilings and large stained glass windows. There is a nice seating area outside as well.
L. C.
Great place to do some work or studying 💻 in the heart of the city, in beautiful surroundings! Strong coffee game ☕ , decent sandwiches 🥪 and moist cake 🍰
D. A.
A really good place to work from. Not too busy. Lots of natural light coming in and a nice breeze from the front door during this hot day. Coffee and food are good and fairly priced compared to the chains coffee companies. Has wi-fi but limited seats with access to power sockets.
M. J.
Excellent selection of food, coffee, and tea. Friendly servers, beautiful surroundings, and interesting books to peruse.

Great experience for coffee. Plus that cinnamon and pecan swirl was amazing

Not quite heaven on earth, but a step in the right direction.

Really lovely staff
J. S.
Really great calm space to have a coffee and some light food where you can actually hear the person you're talking to!
C. D. B.
Just a nice place to chill out. The banana and chocolate loaf is delicious! Ask them to warm it for you ;)
D. N.
Amazing coffee shop, probably the most unique I've ever been to. I thoroughly enjoyed the airy space as a resting spot while enjoying some coffee (and getting some work done too!) very beautiful setting, very delicious coffee. I would frequent this place if I lived in London!
A. N.
Coffee shop inside St Nicks Cole Abbey. Its open, airy and very comfortable. There is lots of seating at tables, old pews and several comfortable sofas to lounge on. Great coffee and staff. Its also pretty quiet which makes it nice to sit down a read while enjoying your drink.
L. C.
The atmosphere is beautiful! A great place to relax or do work. My flat white and chocolate cake were wonderful, but it was disappointing to find that they were out of lunch sandwiches by 1pm.
J. S.
Really great calm space to have a coffee and some light food where you can actually hear the person you're talking to!
L. C.
Had a sandwich and soft drink here. The staff are super friendly and the room has high celings and big windows - definitely different to all cafes i've been to in london. There's decent wi-fi and it's got a nice cafe murmur which is not too loud and won't distract you from work. Hope to come here again if I pass by.
S. L.
One of my favourite spots for coffee if I'm looking for somewhere nice to work or to have some quiet time. The space is absolutely amazing and makes a great change from the typically cramped third wave coffee joint. Lovely staff and relaxed atmosphere.
They serve Workshop beans here which are easily one of the best London roasters, along with other goodies like Sandows's cold brew and Brew Tea Co. teas. A Long Black offers the best bang for your buck coffee, at just £1.80.
The Wren is run by a local church, and it offers the chance to attend lunchtime talks. These are actually a great opportunity to think and ask questions about the Christian faith in a refreshingly non-pushy and informing way.
M. B.
Arrived just a few seconds before closure and the service was still impeccable even though the girls had just started cleaning up. They went to get me some cakes as well which had been cleared for he day. Got a very nice plum and almond polenta cake with a very fragrant Flat White. Super service for super coffee!
T. B.
Lovely staff, good coffee and tea and a great place to write for a couple of hours. The only distraction were people holding endless work-related one-sided conversations over the phone. But maybe I am just a curmudgeonly relic.
P. E.
Very lovely café in an old church. Great lunches and nice atmosphere to work in. The baristas can come over as a little rude sometimes but I don't think it's intentional. The coffee is excellent!
ト.
A café-by-day in a repurposed church that still runs services at certain times of the week. What a brilliant idea! The space is airy and bright, and the service is lovely too. A must-visit.
S. H.
Great place to meet for a coffee and snack in the St Pauls area of London. This is in an old church called St Nicholas Cole Abbey. It’s closed for coffee on a Thursday lunchtime as this is the time it holds its main midweek service.
M. B.
Such a nice place. Super friendly staff. And tasty food.
B. A.
Delicious hearty salads and quiches. Lovely light lunch or coffee spot. Not too busy, not too loud, beautiful setting - perfect for a relaxed catch up or meeting.
G. S.
You can’t miss this one in the area, whilst coffee is not exceptional, the place has a quiet and relaxing atmosphere, staff is always very friendly and cales are usually good. Worth stopping by to take a break from the chaos of the city.
J. H. (.
a very airy and light church - this café has lovely coffee, good non-dairy option, proper butter on toasted hot cross bun and friendly service : must go back for their breakfast next time!
S. S.
Not quite heaven on earth, but a step in the right direction.
J. N.
Good coffee in a cool setting, good for studying or working. Wish there was charging plugs by the tables but after all it is in a church so may not be possible.
M. C.
The Wren café, which I visited last week, is an island of tranquillity in an exceptionally busy part of London. It is close to St Paul’s cathedral and the Millennium Bridge. I considered myself lucky in London to have found somewhere peaceful and with excellent coffee and cake to restore myself after having visited the Cheapside horde at the Museum of London. It is clearly a new venture as they were assembling tables for the outside terrace when I arrived. There was a range of interesting cakes of varying sizes and the sandwiches were huge, although I’m afraid that I was only able to find room for a large slice of cake. The stylish sage green coffee cups made the reasonably priced coffee taste even nicer. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. It was also very clean and comfortable. The stained glass windows of this restored early Wren church were colourful and added to the elegant atmosphere and the experience. There were some beautiful touches such as the wooden counter with a hand carved wren (the bird) on it. There was a table set aside with jugs of water one with fresh mint leaves in it another with slices of orange etc. The toilets were an architectural experience one of which was formally used to store swords in while the services were on. I will definitely visit the café again when I am in London next.
H. B.
Cute coffee shop with a really great setting! It's good quality coffee and nice little snacks. If you ever want to drink coffee in a church this is the place!
D. A.
Perfect place to work, have a meeting and boost creativity. The high roofs and huge windows make it a pleasant space to be productive. Love the sandwich.
R. C.
Coffee and ladies are great but I've often being waiting longer than I would have expected for a takeaway coffee when there are people eating in. Whilst those eating/drinking in were there before me, they wouldn't notice if I was served first.
S. P.
Gorgeous cafe in a church. Fantastic coffee (from Caravan coffee roasters), friendly staff, a beautiful raised terrace at the front to sit if the weather is nice.
J. A.
Located inside St. Nicholas Cole Abbey, it serves good food and coffee, but is lacking in atmosphere. Seems to attract various business meetings, but isn't very warm or welcoming.
J. L.
The place serve good decent lunch and a good place meet up place to talk. They have chairs and tables so you can sit with a friend comfortably in a church :)
R. W.
Such a wonderful place to hang out, whether early morning or for a casual brunch/lunch. Such a beautiful venue and absolutely fantastic staff and food!
C. D. B.
Just a nice place to chill out. The banana and chocolate loaf is delicious! Ask them to warm it for you ;)
S. K.

M. W.

L. J.
Alternative venue for a coffee with a good dose of inspiration! Perfect for a business meeting as it's a light, open space.
K. V.
Food is simple and unpretentiously good, which can be a plus in a town like London, too. Seems to have vegetarian options everyday.
L. G.
Really fascinating cafe in a church just off of st Paul's - try the quiche, it's really amazing. Relaxed tranquil space to get away from the bustle of central London .
S. C.
Super cute little coffee place tucked away near St Paul's. Service was charming and the case looked sinfully delicious.
Y. S.
Great coffee. Good ambience. Nice rose cake (supposedly lemon and courgette).
