Reviews of Shirley's Sandwich Bar

It's fine. Nice to have a different indy option to Subway and the like, but the sandwiches themselves are a bit underwhelming. The Bread buns are big but not that nice and the various flavours are all a bit bland and samey.

Great prices and friendly staff. The gorilla filla is my favourite. Great way to start the day.

A two minute stroll from the office brings me to Shirley's Sandwich bar where I am assured of excellent service, a plethora of food choices hot/cold or a mixture of both and a friendly smile :-)
They have prices to suit most budgets and great meal deals on offer.
If you haven't tried it yet you don't know what you are missing.

Shirley's is a great little cafe/deli that's tucked away on Brazennose St. They've got a wide range of meals, from wraps to breakfast stuff, to various sandwiches. All of it tastes great and is really cheap, and the ladies who work there are all very friendly!
The one thing I don't like about Shirley's is that it is quite small in there, and due to how popular it is, it can get really cramped and busy. A recent renovation has alleviated this somewhat, but if you're planning to go there for a lunchtime meal, get there early. There is seating inside and outside, but if you want a takeaway, you will have to stand and basically be in the way (and have other people in your way).
Still though, that's a minor niggle for what is ultimately great food at a great price, with great staff.

This is a great place for sandwiches and wraps quite close to my office.
It's different from the all the chain sandwich and coffee shops because it offers good wholesome food at very good prices.
There's lots of choice on the menu and if like me you want to limit carbohydrates they do a great range of salad boxes.

Elizabeth writing this. I went to Shirley's for a Jacket pot, beans and cheese. Had not been since 2008 when it was a lot cheaper! I was under the impression was going to cost £1.50 for potato, butter and toppings as ad said in window(obv I misread this) I was told it would cost £3.50! Well expensive. I thankfully had £2.50 on me so I had to choose between cheese or beans. I opted for cheese. I feel I need to write this review in case anyone else gets confused by the £1.50 sign in the window. The potato was OK. bit dry was all as I think the butter had melted into it. Would not visit again!!!!!!!
