Reviews of Aidan's Kitchen

The staff were absolutely wonderful and couldn't do enough for you. Genuine smiles and conversation.
Food was very reasonably priced, portions were huge (the photo doesn't do the short rid justice!) - it could just do with a bit more punch, flavour wise.
That said, I will definitely be going back. It is lovely inside, food came fast and the staff were brilliant!

We had the chance to try this lovely cafe on the bank holiday Friday. It was busy as expected and we didn't book a place earlier. Fortunately a couple were just leaving so we got a seat! Such a cute place with a nice ambience and very friendly staffs. We had the vegetarian full breakfast and French toast. A bit pricey but large portion and tastes amazing. Service was a bit slow, we had to wait half an hour for the food (hence not 5 stars) but it's worth the wait! Will definitely go again.. xx
G. F.
The full stack pancakes were AMAZING! Lovely and fluffy served with a high quality maple syrup and crispy, salty bacon which paired perfectly with the sweetness. It was delicious and absolutely enormous! The drinks were nice as well, excellent coffee and smoothies.
We went to Aidan’s last weekend and it definitely lived up to the high praise and popularity! I’d advise booking ahead or visiting for a late lunch (we went about 2pm on Saturday and there was no wait)
L. R.
The lunch was amazing! It looks all so good and the interior is also beautiful.
Will definitely go back to try the cake, which look delicious.
It’s pricy though, but definitely worth it.
And those pancakes😍😍
C. K.
Absolutely love Aidens, always busy and can't always guarantee a table unless booked in advance. This is mine and my partners go to place for breakfast and we visit as often as possible.
The staff are very tentative, the food is always delicious. I was absolutely addicted to the lemon meringue pancakes, I miss them already but the banana pancakes were delicious.
Cannot rate this place highly enough and given the current financial climate its absolutely amazing to see an independent cafe doing so well.
Keep up it 💪

Another FAB breakfast spot in jesmond.
WOW WOW WOW , food was amazing I will be back 😍
Eggs mexicana and steak and eggs. Both dishes were phenomenal, the Mexicana consisted of avacado, sausage, hollandaise and onion. What a combo so delicious as with the yoghurt and steak mmmm.
Freshly squeezed orange juice and a fresh merry Berry smoothie absolutely devine.

Well worth the wait for a outside table in the sun, brunch was superb. I had beef rib with black beans, but everything on the brunch menu looked really good. Would definitely recommend it.
S. N.
Great food, really big portions as well; nice outdoors seating, gets a lot of sun! (But quite a few wasps around, probably only in summer/autumn)
The jalapeño royal is not too spicy, so if anyone is considering it but is worried about the spice, go for it! Coffee was also quite nice.
A. S.
Amazing food! Big portions, lots of choice, full of flavour. Good coffee. Friendly staff. What more could you want? Been here a few times and always had a good experience. Can't fault this place. Always a queue even in the week, so it's worth it to book ahead.

A Little Hidden Gem and one of my favourite brunch spots in Newcastle!!
I have been here twice now for mine and my dad's birthday and I couldn't thank the lovely waitress and her team enough. They made us feel so welcome and really went above and beyond to make my dad's birthday special!
The cafe itself has quirky decor, comfy seating and exceptional customer service. Everyone has a smile on their face and it's lovely to see the food being prepped whilst you wait.
talking about the food....unreal!! Fresh, tasty, colourful and massive portions too. It may bit a little pricey for some, but you do get what you pay for!
Definitely get yourselves booked in for a lush little brunch date at one of Newcastle's best breakfast spots!
E. G.
The food here is amazing! Nice decor and not overly priced. Gets very busy so would advise booking
K. B.
Absolutely amazing. Serving staff very friendly and polite. Food came quickly and was beautiful. So fresh and tasty ! I won't hesitate to go again and again 😊
J. M.
Been meaning to go for ages, was well worth it!! Superb quality food and a lovely venue to boot. Always judge somewhere by the quality of its english breakfast and this ticked all the right boxes! Will be heading back to try more from the menu soon
m.
Wow! Aidan you’re the man! Visited today with my Veggie Son; last Supper (lunch) with his Mam before he leaves for a new life in the Big Smoke on Thursday. You’ve got brilliant staff, lovely and personable. We both had skillets I added the Merguez sausages - that tomato and pepper casserole which is the base of the dish is mouthwatering! Had a fab time! Best wishes to all and congratulations on a fab little restaurant! I will be back :-)

Top drawer, the carrots alone deserve an award, Cracking service
Varied selection of teas, great alternative milks, (quite possibly the best almond cap I've ever chugged)
Carrots to gooooo
C. D.
Great vegetarian selection and varied menu. Pancakes were delicious. Pleased a half portion was an option as they were huge. Walk in was fine for two people but best to book for larger groups.
A. P.
Fresh clean wholesome flavoursome delicious food fabulous friendly service lovely environment 5 stars easy
C. P.
Egg benedict was amazing! Ice coffee was good, a bit mild for a caffeine addict.
K. a.
Loved the pancakes, though 4 was definitely too many. They let me add an egg to pancakes too and it was delicious
e. g.
I love this place. Always friendly staff. Always good food. Make sure you book as its always busy
E. G.
My favourite cafe in Newcastle, so nice, and lovely staff!
C. A.
Excellent menu for vegetarians or meat eaters- really unusual range of brunchy choices and quality cakes. The coffees were small but tasty and inexpensive (£3 for a mocha!), we were too full to try a smoothie but will definitely return.
Great place for students to invite their parents, or dates, and a vibrant breath of life in Sandyford.
A.
4.8 rating. Food, ambience, settings was great! Price matches it's location (5-7mins walk from Jesmond metro station) and its service quality. Service could be better just not a 5 stars service yet... It is a good brunch option here in Newcastle.
B.
Fantastic food, friendly staff and has a lovely atmosphere. A must for a chilled brunch.
R. T.
Unreal breakfast/brunch spot. Incredible flavours.
E. F.
Aidans is a great place for brunch. The eggs are always cooked to perfection and the halloumi on the veggie breakfast is some of the best I've had. Patrick was helpful when I asked to try something new he recommended jalapeño royale it was delicious 😋
D. M.
This place is absolutely delicious and we cannot wait to go back after lockdown or actually the next time we are that way as it does takeaway!
Truly some of the best food that I have eaten in a long while. Good luck to them and lovely to see local business doing well.
J. M.
Beautiful breakfast this morning. The place was buzzing with lively chatter, service was excellent and the food also excellent.
Book a table as this place is busy, busy, busy and rightly so😁
S. S.
Amazing spot for breakfast. Fresh, high quality breakfast & brunch, with quick, friendly service. I can't wait to come back asap. Would recommend to anyone
J. R.
Parking tricky but this place is worth a visit. It was busy but luckily the sun was shining and we sat outside. Good service, varied menu and the food was delicious. Will be back
N. A.
My new favourite place in Newcastle! The food was to die for - I had the ragu flatbread with an egg on top and my friend had the baked eggs with gruyere sauce. The flavours were gorgeous. Drinks were good - I had a lovely Chai latte (strong flavours) and a latte.
The place has a lovely vibe with lots of plants and comfy seating. David Bowie and Diana Ross adorn the walls. Great music too with a mix of indie and classics.
Service was great, and both the waitress & aidan have lovely smiles. Highly recommended!
E. K.
Absolutely delicious brunch! I had the hash bowl with chorizo and a piece of sour dough bread. Couldn't recommend enough. The pancakes looked unreal too, so I'll definitely need to try those next time.
B.
Amazing coffee and breakfast!
Lovely chilled atmosphere.
b. c.
First class and me and my sons cant wait to go back. Highly recommended but book first. Im a vegetarian and the food is totally amazing.
S. R.
Wow.
Delicious brunch,
Amazing staff.
If I'm up north again I'll be back!
G. B.
What a fantastic little find, a cafe that properly caters for Gluten free. Absolutely loads on the menu has a GF option, shame the pancakes aren't GF though
M. A.
I have ordered flat white and two types of pancakes. Coffee was average (too hot). Portions with pancakes were big, but unfortunately, the taste wasn't great. Overall, good.
r. g.
Excellent food and service. Shame about the service charge though, like many others I'd prefer to leave a gratuity proportionate to the quality of the service.
N. R.
Went with my husband for breakfast both meals were delicious, would definitely recommend and we will visit again
D. S.
Fab interior, great staff and beautiful food! My daughter and I have been twice, and will definitely return.
C. F.
This is such an awesome breakfast/lunch stop! Not far from the city center, this little place definitely should be a stop on your plan if you are in Newcastle! We went on a weekend morning, although it seemed relatively busy in there, we were able to get a table straight away, but I would recommend possibly booking a reservation if you are going in a peak hour because it seems like it is probably consistently busy throughout the morning at least!
We were served very quickly and within a short period of time we were brought our food, not too long after ordering. All the staff members were greatly helpful and had excellent service the entire time. With as how reasonable the prices were, we were not expecting to get such an abundance of food- but the portion sizes are huge!! You're honestly getting your money's worth, not only in the amount of food, but in how delicious it is!! We will definitely be back!
A.
Amazing pancakes, full English and espresso. Super friendly staff and warm atmosphere. Looking forward to return!
R. Z. U. R.
Really good place with better taste!
C. D.
Great food, great atmosphere, great staff ! Make sure you book it in advance :)
A. A.
Genuinely some of the best brunch i’ve ever had in a cafe. I tried the mexicana & waffles.
C. B.
Great food and charming staff. Would recommend for a lovely brunch
D. P.
Great breakfasts and and lovely surroundings. Excellent service too. One of the best breakfast spots in Newcastle. Would recommend.
S. D.
Amazing food, big portions for the price, and a lovely place. All round 11/10 :)
R. T.
Excellent place for breakfast or brunch with friendly staff, delicious food and a stylish cafe. I had the smashed avocado on toast with feta and chillis plus two poached eggs which were cooked to perfection. The only regret is I didnt not buy one of the freshly fried doughnuts to take away after my breakfast.
A. B.
Really busy even on weekdays, booking is essential. Food is definitely worth it though!
G. W.
Little gem ....breakfast was fresh tasty bread was fresh .eggs perfect good menu ..Nice inside ..mix of modern and sleek....Will be back
R. F.
Not a bad place, cosy and atmospheric. The food is quite good, the portions are large.
P. D.
First visit, amazing, will not be our last. Attentive professional staff in lovely surrounding but the food takes it to another level- superb. Delicious and thoughtfully presented. A must visit for anyone, but book a table so you're not dissappointed.
C. A.
Often quite busy, so may be worth booking in advance.
The food is nice, particularly the breakfasts. Parking is normally okay but sometimes not a lot of spaces directly outside.
D. H.
Food was really good, staff are friendly and really busy. I'd book a table if you are going.
S. L.
Been a couple of times now for breakfast and can't fault it.
Interesting menu and a cut above the usual. Great staff great food and drink but does get busy.
Book or be prepared to wait for a table
L. W.
very appetising and beautiful food) the interior is cosy. the service is good)
A. R.
The staff at Aidan's Kitchen were so accommodating, and really made us feel so welcome ! This is what customer service should look like ! Food and coffee are immense to boot !
A. B.
Lovely helpful staff who didn't rush you at all despite there being a queue outside. Great menu and delicious food. Really pleasant laid back vibe. We will return!
D. P.
Had a lovely lunch, staff very helpful and pleasant, will go again
C. B.
Nice place, good atmosphere lovely food. Highly recommend the Mexicana.
R. R.
high quality and tasty breakfast, excellent 👌 😋 👍
S. D.
First visit today. Staff were friendly. Food outstanding. In particular the shakshuka which was very good. Good value. Worth booking a table. Clearly very popular and easy to see why.
M. P.
Went with my daughter today, unfortunately didn’t pre-book so had to sit outside. However the food was quality and was very happy indeed. We’ll be back for sure.
J. A.
Great food - as long as you are not in a hurry...
P. H.
Amazing spot, would highly recommend as a nice brunch place. All staff was welcoming and friendly the food was delicious. The only thing I would say to improve would be the pancakes as one side of the pan cake was a bit hard. Other than that there's nothing that I could see would be wrong. Keep it up guys
C. A.
One of my favourite places for a good breakfast. Gets very busy so definitely book in advance, especially if you're a group. Wide range of great food, nice student discount, friendly staff. I recommend the pancake stacks but definitely only get a half!
M. B.
Had breakfast during eat out scheme, however, prices are very reasonable outside of this. The food was fantastic, all locally sourced produce. Great choices, tasted amazing, we would definitely return 😊 pancakes are a must!
C. B.
Went for the Drum 'n' Thigh night for my birthday and it was absolutely excellent. Would highly recommend the Chicken Sriracha sandwich - delicious.
C. B.
Really enjoyed the food at Aidan's. I had an eggs Mexicana which was great (and probably should be for 9 quid).
I was a bit put off by the waitress taking every glass off the tray and handing it to each of us by putting her fingers around the rim to hold it.
We got a bottle of tap water and the bottle looked like it was covered in finger prints when we got it.. relatively thick, dirty ones, like it hadn't been wiped down for a while.
Then there was a few bits floating in the water as well.
These things would be a bit disgusting normally, but particularly now, I don't think it takes much thought to clean the water bottles and not handle a glass where someone is about to drink out of it. The floating bits in the water was maybe just unlucky.
So food good, service friendly.. didn't feel quite as socially distant as I'd like, but what can you do.. but just a bit dirty in parts.
K. G.
Amazing breakfast tucked away away from the city centre. Usually a wait if you don't book ahead but trust me it's definitely worth every minute. Would recommend to all.
K.
Been to this location numerous times because I live around the corner. It mega popular now so booking or understanding you might need to wait. The coffee is really nice. The staff are great. I times I sat in the food is delicious and they nail breakfast/brunch really well.
The times they are to busy I do take away and the staff will always make time for you. They have a great selection of baked goods and items you can take away.
Really nice cafe in the heart of Sandyford.
Highly recommended
D. B.
Bloody good vibes and even better food
L. H.
Nice experience here! Good vibe indoors and food was very tasty. Also enjoyed the coffee. Quick service.
M. B.
Damn good breakfast!
J. B.
Stunning breakfast, even if a little out if the city centre it was worth the walk.
D. F.
Amazing food but crazy slow service. Waited about 45 mins for food. Book in advance cos always busy. Pancakes are god tier.
L. C.
I only tend to write a review if the food is either terrible or amazing. Let me tell you, this place is definitely the latter!
The missus loved the crockery too! It's been a big hit all around. Highly recommended. 😁
S. P.
I use Aidan's Kitchen as a breakfast stop when I am working nearby during the December weekends. It is a pleasure to set foot over the door. There is always a warm welcome, the place has a buzz about it and the tea and bacon sandwiches are excellent. Staff are friendly and efficient and prices are far lower than more up market institutions based in the city centre. Highly recommended from a man who knows a good bacon sandwich when he sees one.
D. P.
Food, cocktails were good. Won't come back because the place (the outside kitchen area) and the staff (even waiter and the barman) were dirty: grease all over the clothes and aprons, constantly wiping hands of their clothes. The guy, who was organising food on plates was wiping his hands, the table and plates with the same dirty towel. If restaurant staff can't keep themselves and a place they work in tidy - It's always a bad sign
M. W.
Okay sue thank goodness we love E so sweet and sweet kisses
M. F.
Good value quality food, very pleasant, and timely staff. Breakfast choice appears ample for whatever you dietary needs or preference are. Place is small but good decor and ambience. Gather it gets quite busy at peak periods but about right mid week 10:00 - 12:00. Will definitely be going again
A. R.
Great service. Tasty gourmet food. Very 'hipster' and on-trend decor and music. Well done Aidan and his team.
H. D.
Amazing food, everything I've had here has been delicous (the beef shin toasty is unreal) Lovely staff and fun vibe.
A. D.
Lovely food. Delicious combination of flavours with the Shakshuka (sp?) - extra sausages a must!
S. P.
Nice place. Friendly and wee bit different. Had the hash and coffee.
A. S.
A firm favourite for brunch. Very busy so generally need to book, although there are some tables outside for walk ins. Excellent food and coffee.
c. t.
So. Popped in today with my girlfriend after been recommended by a friend. Honestly the best breakfast I've ever had. Eggs bennedict and eggs royale, finished off with the aidans Nutella pancakes. Unbelievable. Not only is the food amazing, but staff are great and a lovely friendly atmosphere! Can't recommend enough!
P. C.
Wonderful little gem. Our son, who lives locally, took us for brunch during a visit. The staff, food & surroundings are all really nice. The vibe is modern but relaxed and the food was superb.
C. G.
Great food and coffee.
B. M.
Really good food in pleasant surroundings. Just tried their big, all-day breakfast - very tasty and good value (eggs poached to perfection). Delectable freshly baked cakes. Note that the Kitchen is closed on Mondays.
C. W.
I really love this place. The atmosphere is amazing for a classy date and the food was so good! The eggs they used are good quality but my favourite was definitely the meatball sandwich. Highly recommend that.
A. M.
The best coffee we had on our holiday, plus the pancakes were excellent. Friendly staff. Good vibes. They've put thought into the interior.
A. P.
Great little spot to grab a quality breakfast. The sausage and bacon were fantastic. When getting the pancakes, I would recommend only getting a half stack (2 large pancakes)
J. M.
Fantastic, fresh, lovely tasting food to a high standard of quality.

Beautiful breakfast, as always
L. F.
I’ve been here many times and always enjoyed the food. However, I visited today at 11am (booked in advance) and by 11:45 the waiter had placed the bill on our table without us asking for it. Before 12 the waiter came over with the card machine, again, without us asking for it. I still had most of my drink left. This comes across rude and pushy - there was no time limit on the booking confirmation. If you wanted us out within the hour then you should state that upon booking.
