Reviews of CatPawCino Cat Cafe Newcastle

Visited this cafe for the first time last week, it was a great experience! Our beverages were tasty, and the member of staff was very polite. The cats were very affectionate towards her, so we could tell they're treated with care. We were given treats to feed cats, and they were all over us! The ragdoll and sphinx cats were the most affectionate, they would sit in our laps and ask for cuddles, they were so cute! Would recommend 100%.

Very much enjoyed this place. Drinks prices are very reasonable, and the entrance fee goes to take care of the kitties so happy to pay it. The kitties themselves were in a sleepy mood when we visited, but still allowed pets, and when up and about would play a bit. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
N. S.
It has a really nice calming environment. The cats are really friendly and playful. The staff is very helpful and approachable.
L. N.
Lovely place I really enjoyed my time there. The owner and staff were so nice they engaged with me and the cats were so lovely as well. They obviously keep the cats healthy and entertained and care about their mental health as they take breaks. The food was lovely... I will be a frequent customer for sure.

It was such a treat to return here years after it had been a refuge for me on a difficult work trip to Newcastle in 2018. Simba (I think) jumped on my back literally within 30 seconds of walking through the door and all the cats were incredibly charming (in such adorably different ways) for the rest of my visit. The staff are really friendly and their love of the cats is palpable.
R. H.
Friendly staff that make you feel welcome and a lovely calm atmosphere. Cats are fluffy and the food is good.
Z. S.
Lovely staff and a great selection of cats to play with and give a little cuddle. Very reasonable in comparison to other cat cafes around. Yoh do have to pre book as it gets very busy.

If you love cats, you'll love this place. I called in on a Thursday evening and there were a few other people there. If you are planning to go earlier, it may be better to book your spot either by phone or online. Entry is £5 which gives you an hour in the café. I had a coffee and a cheese scone which were lovely. The cats are friendly and absolutely gorgeous. My visit coincided with the cat's feeding time. I will certainly go back.

We enjoyed our visit to the cat café, and the staff were very friendly, but we didn't quite think it did justice to the money we spent there. The cover charge of £5 a person felt like a lot for the 4 of us and added to the light lunch (toastie, drink and tray bake each) we had there, we came away having spent £53(!) which made it an expensive outing for our family.
The cats were lovely (there were 8 of them the day we went) and most of them were happy to be petted. They were all in excellent condition and the long-haired ones were gorgeous to stroke, however they mostly kept to themselves and dozed in the many cool cat beds that were in the shop (or on top of the café diary in one amusing case) This is what I'd expect from regular cats, but I'd hoped for cats that might be a bit more interested in people in a cat café.
Overall, the cats didn't add that much to the café experience other than being really laid back and beautiful ornaments (that occasionally rearrange themselves) with the usual worship-me attitude that cats have. And of course they could be petted, although, be careful, there were 2 that were touchy and took a swipe at me when they were bored with being petted.
The one cat who really interacted with us and our children was a foster kitten with loads of attitude, and she injected some much-needed life with her antics. She was all over the shop, waking up some of the others occasionally, and our kids had fun with her. They regarded their time there as a good experience, and I'm glad we went, but would add, a bit sadly, that we can't afford to go back.

My sister and I stumbled across this place as we were looking for somewhere to have lunch and it absolutely made our day! We had tea for two (the tea sets are utterly charming) and the sandwiches, scones and desserts that accompanied were all very tasty. The cats are well behaved and soft, and the staff offer cat treats to tempt them with - the staff themselves are very friendly too. Overall an excellent experience, would recommend!
L. A.
What a lovely cafe with nice staff. The cats are all very chilled and happy. There are rules in place so the cats aren't stressed. I met lovely Alfie and Hugo today who I fell in love with.
The desserts and drinks are lovely too, well worth the money and definitely worth a visit. We will be back.
K. D.
Lovely and relaxed atmosphere for both customers and the cats! Gorgeous afternoon tea set up and you're given the opportunity to give the kitties treats (unless they steal your seat, like what Chocolate did to me!)
G. K.
Cool idea for sure, however, the cost of entry was too steep with no discount on entry if you actually purchase cafe food and drink.
s. g.
Nice to be with the variety of cats. Had to ask for sugar and no serviettes provided, but coffees and snacks were lovely.
y.
Wonderful place, cats are so happy and well looked after. Staff are polite and friendly, Nice toastie and hot chocolate.
Defo a recommend, we'll be back. 🐱🐱
R. C.
Was excited to visit, cats were looked after well & always had food, treats, toys etc however myself and my friend were let down by the parents staring at their phones, ignoring their children and just let them chase and poke the cats and kept running in/out of the toilets. I know this is the parents responsibility, but I think the staff should of spoke up as well (Girl with long blonde hair tied back worked that day).
Children looked around 5-6 years old, which I think there should be an age limit higher when around animals.
I used to have a cat and I know they just like to relax in peace and just enjoy their company, not poke them.
No milk either so wasn't able to get any hot drink.
All of this led to my friend being very uncomfortable and we left early before the time slot finished.
E. F.
Amazing place to hang out with such gorgeous cats. Great coffee too! Will be back again soon.
M. C.
I'm normally a dog person, but could be converted to cats after visiting this place!
They also serve fabulous coffee and cakes if you can year yourself away from the lovely cats who call this shop there home.
R. S.
Lovely little café. The cats were adorable and very friendly. I particularly liked playing with Liquorice and Marmite - they were so sweet. The staff were extremely friendly and the food was nice. Would definitely recommend.
j. k.
I loved the kitties last time I was here, I had a iced mocha and a brownie. I, then played with the cats, one of them can give you a paw when you offer him a treat
O. h.
Such a lovely place! Been twice, first for my anniversary and then for Valentine's day! Quite quaint and the cats are such sweethearts. Prices are reasonable and right by the quayside. Thank you to the staff.
L. H.
Absolutely great place the staff are friendly and helpful and the kitty's are cute as hell
K. L.
Lovely place. Peaceful and full of cute, adorable kitties. Definitely a place to visit if you need to chill.
s. k.
Lovely relaxing place on the Quayside to enjoy an afternoon coffee surrounded by big fluffy cats! Only down side is that you can't pick the cats up which saddened me because I expected to be able to pick them up and cuddle them whilst sipping my coffee watching the world go by. I think that the £5 entry fee should tell the owners that your not going to harm them in any way
I.
Took our cat obsessed daughter for a little birthday treat, and she absolutely loved it. Brilliant fun with lots of friendly felines of varying breeds. Service was great, and despite the conclusion many will jump to, it's incredibly clean and tidy. All round good experience.
T. S.
Cozy, friendly and welcoming - and that's just the cats! Amazing place, especially lovely sweet treats, even vegan wraps! Just awesome.
邵.
The hostess is very sweet and friendly,. The cats are super cute and calm. Nice environment for cats.
A.
Cute cats, friendly staff, overall really great environment. The staff were happy to cater for my vegan friend and I upon request.
E. L.
Beautiful space, the cats are very clearly well looked after and loved. Staff are extremely welcoming. The food was cheap and tasty, will definitely visit again.
N. M.
Welcoming homely cafe with a decent group of cats to be around. Some are grumpier than others, but that's cats for you. Great staff, n a lovely environment. Will definitely visit again.
L. R.
Lovely - very warm and friendly with great views over the Tyne and good coffee. The cats tend to like curling up in the sunshine in the window, but they are very amenable to being stroked and scratched behind the ears!
K. L. F.
This place is amazing. A perfect stop for any cat lover.
H. R.
This is a lovely cafe to visit and play with the cats. The coffee is outstanding. Please bear in mind the booking fee which was £2 each is not the full story. There is an additional entrance charge. This was a bit of a suprise to get hit with when paying the bill for drinks....friendly staff, cats look very happy.
S. I.
Adorable cats!!!! So worth it! Delicious tea and I loved their cake.
H. P.
The best cat cafe in Newcastle! Lovely staff, clean and comfy setting and the cats are beautiful
M. S.
You need to book ahead for 1 hour session. Lovely, relaxed time with friendly cats. Teas, coffees, scones, toasties, traybakes etc. I tried the Chrysanthemum tea for something different - it was delicious.
A. C.
Nice cafe, tea and adorable cats. Staff are professional and friendly. Had a great time!
L. C.
Enjoyed our visit, nice place with lovely cats. However we would have preferred some warning about having to remove our shoes. This was our first visit and as some of us were wearing sandals. We were provided with slippers as we weren't wearing socks. We weren't too keen as fungal nail infections, verrucas, athletes foot etc. can spead this way and we would have brought socks had we known. One little let down was the service. We received cakes immediately, food after 30 minutes and drinks after 45 minutes. After 2 mouth fulls of coffee too hot to drink we were given a 10 minute warning that our session was over. So as you can imagine we didn't finish our drinks and had to leave them which was quite disappointing.
B. A.
According to my knowledge hugging a furry feline friend can help relieve the stress of daily life-at least for a while.
But, not everyone has the time or space to have their own cat, so CatPawCino provides a sanctuary in the city where you can relax with your coffee cat.
Cat Café is located in the beautiful Newcastle Docklands, overlooking the River Tyne.
It is sit-in cafe that is home to for resident cats and saved the cats from Friendz Feline.
Very nice place to visit for cats lovers, very friendly staff, and very tidy.
A. C.
Absolutely lovely place the lady is so kind and welcoming grate for the kids my son loved as did I we love cats and this just topped off are day nicley the cats are so friendly and two kittens are so funny definitely worth the money and recomend to anyone be definitely going back again xxx
S. J.
cheap entry fee, good food, the cats are extremely friendly, would love to visit again
G. C.
The staff, cats (and kitten), food, and atmosphere was all lovely. Can't wait to go back!
J. C. (.
Really nice place, friendly staff, cats seem very happy and relaxed
S. K. W.
Staff were brilliant. Clearly explained new rules for COVID-19 and created a safe atmosphere. Coffee and cakes were excellent. And not forgetting the main attractions. Cats are awesome with their individual personalities! Will definitely be back 🐈 🐱
J. L.
Very good service, lovely music, very cute cats! Loved the atmosphere of this place, would definitely visit again with family!
L. S.
What a lovely hour spent with the beautiful kitties. Simba is such a character trying to steal muffins and giving lots of love. All the cats are gorgeous and very friendly.
A. S.
Very cute cats, lovely café.
However their qr code menu didn't work for me.
A. L.
Absolutely amazing time here!
The cats are all super cute, friendly and well looked after, you know the staff are doing an amazing job day in, day out.
Please get a scone when you go, by far the NICEST one I've ever had, and I've had a lot! Dont be put off by price for time, it is well worth it, and gets busy so booking is a must.
A. W.
Beautiful relaxing environment with stunning cats.. Will definitely be back
N. D.
Incredibly cosy, relaxing and calm atmosphere . Lovely food and drinks and the cats are gorgeous.
a. s.
£5.00 entrance fee booked prior to visit . On arrival you remove your shoes to reduce any infections for the cats.
Nice cosy place to sit and have a drink with food and play with the animals.
Nice views of the quayside .
Before your 1 hour session is finished you then have the chance to give the cats a few treats which the staff give out .
Nice place to relax if you have a liking for cats .
J. S.
Best cat cafe we've ever been to, staff were incredibly friendly as soon as we arrived. We were shown to our seat and given the menus, I ordered the carrot cake and a tea which was fab and my girlfriend got the brownie which I can attest was fantastic! We were then given treats to give the cats, and some of them even do little tricks like shaking your hand and rolling over! Alfie is just the sweetest cat ever. Definitely recommend and we will definitely be back
강.
This quayside cafe is a lovely place to while away an hour whilst playing with some incredibly chilled cats. As well as the resident cats they also foster kittens. We visited this wonderful cat cafe on the quayside in Newcastle. The staff were really nice and welcoming and the cats were so loving and friendly they loved the attention the menu was a great price great gifts to buy would totally recommend this place
S. G.
Oh my days, I loved it here. You're supposed to stay there for an hour but when me and my friend went, we got to stay there a little longer and weren't asked to leave. Probably because it wasn't very busy. Cats are friendly but they slept for the most part, but I love cats and respect that they need their 16 hours of sleep a day so I didn't mind too much. Food is a little expensive but I think that's because it's never usually busy and they wouldnt make much money otherwise. Entry is £5 but I still highly recommend the place if you love cats
M. B. G.
Good coffee. Cats revered. Strict ground rules. The most gorgeous cats in an intimate space. No wheelchair access though. Well worth the visit. And you can follow it with a quayside walk. Parking just around the corner. £5 each? Bargain!
C. H.
Absolutely love this place. There's no entry fee, no pre-booking required and you can spend a couple of hours drinking coffee and chilling with the cats. The cats are very friendly and we were even allowed to feed them treats. Definitely returning!!
G. M.
It's 5 pound each to enter and there's a limit on the number of people that can attend. Food is simple but lovely (careful not to share with the kitties) and well priced. Highly recommend a visit if time permits and you're a cat lover.
J. D.
False advertising does NOT serve cat meat in ANY form. Not even allowed to hunt own cat, despite being WIDELY available.
Actually very charming little place, staff and cats all very friendly, although not encouraged to feed or pet the staff, cats okay though.
Good food, very clean. Probably not dog friendly.
A. K.
Great atmosphere with beautiful, friendly cats. There is a £5 entrance fee which I've seen a couple of comments about here but it is more than reasonable and goes towards looking after the cats, especially when you consider most people probably won't spend a huge deal on food/drink.
The staff are friendly, the food is tasty and the menu offers small bites and cakes etc. The second of two, unrelated cat cafes in Newcastle upon Tyne, equally as good as the other. Mog On The Tyne is the original and whilst the decor is more characteristic, I would say my overall experience has been equally pleasant in both.
B. D.
Very calm and good place to go to
The cats there ate also very calm and a good place to go to calm your fear of cats
D. S.
I visited here without booking (its a good idea to book in advance) but they were very kind and managed to squeeze my daughter and I in. The place was very clean, I was expecting it to smell faintly of cat litter or some other smell but it actually didn't. Theres a calm atmosphere and are currently resident to 7 adorable felines, all of which you are free to stroke and play with but not pick up. The staff are friendly and the service is fast. All in all its well worth the £5 entrance fee per person and I will be coming here again with friends in future. Thank you, Catpawcino :-)
D. M.
Took partner and our 2 daughters ❤ loved it. Cats really friendly and staff are so polite and friendly.
M. E.
It's okay. As commited cat lovers we were looking forward to visiting. You have to book ahead (generally), you only get an hour to visit and the house rules are quite strict. Hygiene was a bit problematic (no hand washing post cat treats) and food made me feel unwell. Coffee was okay...tea was okay. Sadly won't be going back. Cats were amazing though.
Z.
Needed something like this place after my A level exams. Absolutely loved it. The cats were adorable and the people were very friendly. Had jasmine tea which was, well jasmine tea. Overall love this place, got my loyalty card too which will probably be filled in the coming days.
I. B.
Cats are fun. Coffee and cake. Needs a clean.
M. W.
Went here with a friend, the cats and the staff are very friendly, only the cats are cuddly though ;)
Nice relaxing atmosphere and there is always a kitty nearby to feed or pet.
Food and drinks are a bit expensive and small, but one visits mostly for the cats anyway.
10/10 would go again!
M. B.
You need to deposit £5 beforehand if you want to confirm your sit. However if you go on business days and hours you might not need to book your table but pay £3. Also there plenty of snacks on the menu it's good but not great. There are rules and regulations such as not licking up cats.
S. W.
Had nice cats with distinct personalities and very friendly staff with good food aswell, will make sure to visit again
S. B.
The cats were really friendly! I had a mango fruit smoothie which I didn't fully enjoy, but they have both hot chocolate and iced hot chocolate which looked absolutely amazing, though I haven't had it! I fully intend to go back there again!
L. T.
Everything about this place is excellent. Unlike some cat café's these cats are playful. The staff are friendly and the food is pretty good for the price
F. R.
If you like cats, this is the place to visit. Although it is a £5 entry fee, it is well worth it as you're able to spend up to an hour socialising with the beautiful cats.
When I went, there were 7 cats. 5 live there and 2 more were being fostered. There are some simple rules regarding the safety of the animals, no picking up or feeding with your food etc but you have the freedom to stroke, take pictures and play with the cats.
The café is a bit hairy as there are longhaired cats but apart from that, it is a clean environment to enjoy some very reasonably priced snacks and hot/cold drinks.
This is a great place to come to relax and enjoy being with feline friends.
K. B.
Wonderful hour with delightful cats and great food. Wish I could have slipped a cat in my handbag as a takeaway. Thoroughly recommended, cafe is friendly, clean, has great views, delicious food and lovely feline company.
Z. d. G. J.
Absouloutley loved it would recommend highly. Amazing treatment towards the cats. Friendly staff. Great atmosphere.
E. Y.
Really cute little cafe with a lovely interior and nice view of the Tyne and the Sage. Alot of cats in comparison for the space (around 8) and all were very chilled out, perfectly happy for you to stroke them when they sleep and toys are provided to play with them. The entry fee is pretty reasonable as they do have to care for the cats and the food and drink are reasonably priced (a lot cheaper than Mog on the Tyne). The owner was lovely and welcoming.
M. K. (.
Lovely chilled place. Lots of friendly cats and beautiful music in the background. The staff are very friendly and know each cat by name. Good selection of tea, coffee and lunch nibbles. If you love cats you'll catpawcino
T. S. S.
Great little cafe, not too busy with friendly staff. Food is lovely too
I. J. C.
This was a surprise visit, arranged by my son...oh boy, was I in Cat Heaven! Ten gorgeous cats to pet, lovely coffee and cake to be had and a pleasant young lady running the place. During our visit there were only eight people, in total, within the cosy little room. Very relaxing and, not being allowed to wear footwear as one of the house rules, alot of us spent our time, on hands and knees. Purrfect for a cat lover!
P. W.
A friendly cat cafe with a relaxed atmosphere. They have some of the cutest kitties you'll ever meet. They even foster cats that are up for adoption. A must visit while in Newcastle. Highly recommended for cat lovers.
P. F.
Sleepy 🐈...borrowed slippers....very good toasties
S. W.
Wife loved the cats. I bonded with the grumpy one and had a good coffee
A. R.
Run ethically, with plenty of choice for cats to get some peace and quiet when they need to. Friendly place. They also help rescue cats to find homes. The cats are lovely and well cared for.
D. R.
Loved it. The staff are lovely and definately love looking after the cats. The cats are beautiful and theres with our doubt some characters there to meet.
N. C.
Amazing place with wonderful staff and very cute cats.
J. T.
The cats are lovely, the atmosphere is very welcoming and warm and the staff are super friendly; highly recommend for any cat lover or someone just looking for a cosy café
T. M.
Loved the cats, especially Simba.
栗.
Very satisfying experience, admission fee 5 pounds. Worth it.
A. W.
Very well run, professional cafe, filled to the brim with cats, all of whom are very friendly and well looked after. Don't come expecting a normal cafe atmosphere because only a small number of people are allowed in at a time, so not ideal for private conversation
W. B. S.
Lovely cats. Entry fee of 5 pounds excluding drinks. Nice location by the quayside. A few rules to keep while inside. Otherwise nice relaxing cafe to stop by
L. B.
Very cute and comfortable setting to be around cats while warming up with some hot chocolate. A little too quiet for my liking, although the staff were great!
L. m.

This is a great place to relax and unwind. Tea/Coffee, cake and lots of cats to play with. Definitely needs to be booked ahead to avoid disappointment
d. t.
I recommend booking in advance as this is a very small cafe. Food and drink is OK, but the cats are what make it. I still can't believe how tolerant the cats are.

So nice! The cats are happy and well taken care of. Staff was super nice and put the welfare of the cats first!

(Translated) I accidentally found this cat cafe, but I love cats but I can’t keep it. Of course I want to rush it!
-
I went in the afternoon on weekdays, and there was no book and there was still a place.
When we entered there was only one group of guests, there were 7 or 8 cats! There are about 4-5 tables, the whole shop is not too big.
There is a charge of 6 pounds per person for entering the store, and drinks and desserts are not included. As soon as I walked in, I started to frantically touch the cat. I didn’t even look at the menu. I just ordered a drink. Anyway, the focus was on the cat. [萌萌哒R]
But I still have to say that I ordered the peach iced tea and it tasted a bit weak.
There is no time limit for booking this cat cafe! Stay as long as you want.
-
I don’t know if the cats are a little tired after working for a day or something.
The closest relative in the whole shop is probably the sphinx, who is also the youngest. It seems to be about one year old, and it will actively stick to people's legs and keep warm.
The long-haired Siamese cat has a very good personality, and I have been madly inhaled [Secretly Observed R] very fragrant.
-
The clerk said that cats can be adopted on the website of their store, but it is not the ones in the store. Those who are interested can also check it out.

(Translated) Usually it takes reservations, but we were lucky and they had room. Fixed cost $ 5 + drink. You have to take your shoes off and wash your hands before entering. Very soft and sociable cats. To spend 1 hour in the warmth with pleasant company.
