Coffee is simply delicious from here.
Great staff and so knowledgable about the black stuff!
Takes American Express.
Nice place for either quick coffee or the paraphernalia that comes with coffee making!!

Different types of coffee and delicious

Coffee is simply great. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
This is our first week in Newcastle and we have been there three times already!
M. J.
I'd argue that this is my favourite coffee shop in the north. Awesome, personal service, an excellent atmosphere and a coffee connoisseur's heaven! Thanks for the great coffee, can't wait to come by again soon.
J.
Lovely coffee. The staff are very friendly and good prices on beverages.
M. R.
Great place to get loose leaf tea and freshly ground coffee. Both takeaway drinks and beans and leaves for home brewing. Wide selection of flavours and styles available by weight as well as tea and coffee preparation items. Friendly knowledgeable staff happy to answer any questions.
A. L.
Nice staff. I'm actually not a big coffee fan but I do love the vibes.
L. W.
Thomas was absolutely wonderful, I’ve never had a better coffee experience. Rachel was also great.
A. H.
The most affordable and delicious coffee you will find in Newcastle! Couldn't recommend highly enough. Staff are also so knowledgeable and friendly!
R. P.
Love this place nice tea and coffee and team working there very friendly and helpful

Visited yesterday around 12.30 to pick up a tin of coffee. There was a considerable queue of customers waiting for takeaway coffees as well as those waiting to order loose coffee. The young girl serving never stopped - and despite the workload her attitude was charming - smiling to her customers, polite and efficient. A credit to Pumphries personnel recruitment! It's all too easy to be critical - especially in these "dark times" We should equally give praise when we encounter nice service to cheer us up? Great range of good quality coffees and teas and set out attractively.

The Pumphreys stall in the Grainger Market is an utter delight. I hugely enjoyed sitting at a small table drinking velvety, opulent flat whites and trying a delicious cookie. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful.I bought some excellent coffee for home use. This is an unpretentious, essential destination for serious coffee drinkers.
K.
Great coffee, has much selection so have a look at the book and there might be lots you haven’t tried.
G. W.
Lovely coffee, tasty cookies. Friendly and chatty staff

The coffee is superb. Always. With a great choice of roasted beans available for on-the-spot grinding, it's on my regular tourist trail.
Try to know how much you want! The lady serving me was impatient because I didn't know how much the Pumphrey's bags held so I couldn't tell her the weight.
C. P.
There's a few nice looking coffee stalls in the market but I'm glad I chose this one. The plaque by the till noted their victory in serving the UKs best espresso, and I can well believe it. Nice clientele too: especially the guy who paid for my coffee when I had no change!

You don’t have to hesitate regarding taking a cup of their marvelous coffee!
Their coffee is awesome! You should try it !
If you are obsessed with drinking Late, dont miss trying “detarra coffee”, you will definitely fall in love with it !
The bad thing about this cafe is that there are not enough seats for those who prefer to sit in!

If you love coffee and are in Newcastle visit here. These guys know their stuff.
Coffee beans & tea leaves sold one side, barista bar on the other. They do singular filter coffee fresh to order. Their available coffee blends are constantly changing with something new to try.
J. G.
The number one location for true coffee enthusiasts in the north east of England. You can try their blends and more. Check their website to see the roastery options available, if you're in the mood to make your own. You can even pick up a certificate whilst your at it (for a fee). A bajillion blends to choose from, full beans and filter friendly to ready blends available.
D. S.
Not a massive coffee drinker but do like their flat white with oat milk.
Not sure if this is still happening but card payments have to be over £5 so be careful if you don't have any money on you
N. M.
I cannot praise this place enough. Fantastic coffee to take home. Delicious coffee to drink as you shop. Lovely, helpful staff.

I used to grind the Pumphrey beans when I worked in Fenwick's. That's not a euphemism!! What an incredible smell. The Coffee is fantastic and I remember having some of the chocolate coated ones. Just don't have too many at once or you may find your self having a caffeine OD.

A shop inside the famous Grainger Market in Newcastle specialists in worldwide brands of coffee with a small seated area for those wishing to try what's available Restricted space at the moment as the Market is full of scaffolding as the roof is under replacement and incredibly this will take a year!! Market like a vast building site at present

Some of the best coffee in Newcastle - a stalwart of the coffee scene in Toon. A stable of knowledgeable and well-trained baristas, talented roasters and some tasty beans. A flat white here can put the world to rights. An institution, a long history in the tea and coffee game. The bar in Grainger Market is a spot of special.
P. D.
We buy tea and coffee here on a regular basis.A huge selection is available, our favourites are flowery orange pekoe (tea) and the 1750 blend(coffee). We are never disappointed.

Pumphrey's is something of a legend in the Northeast and in Newcastle in particular. It's Brewing Emporium in Newcastle's historic Grainger Market sells Pumphrey's full range of coffee beans and all manner of coffee equipment, as well as tea and other hot beverage sundries. Not only that, but it also dispenses coffee wisdom to those who wish to learn it and, to top it all, you can get a great cup of coffee, either from the espresso machine or brew bar.
The market itself is a wonderful place and worth visiting in its own right. When you need a break, Pumphrey's is the ideal place to stop for a quick coffee and take the weight off your feet. However, it's also worth visiting in its own right and I really enjoyed sitting at the bar, drinking my coffee and chatting with the knowledgeable and enthusiastic baristas.
G. G.
Lovely local coffee store. I recommend their special blend - very smooth.
D. C.
Great coffee served in a great location, also the layout makes it a refreshing place to enjoy a coffee, as there's no room for laptops and everyone is sat at the bar.
S. R.
Excellent coffee, well crafted and seems like it'd be a good place to improve your brewing technique.
M. F.
Great coffee made by skilled baristas, as well as all the equipment and coffee you need for the house - excellent!
M. A.
All your brewing needs. Aeropress/drip filter. Beans etc. Helpful staff, set in Grainger Market. Make sure you visit
