Reviews of The Cycle Hub

It’s a nice place. Great for cyclists (obviously) but also if you’re on the Quayside. I do feel as though it’s pricey for what you get and the lack of range when it comes to hot food options is a negative bit overall it’s nice to visit now and again. Staff are lovely.

What Marlon Brando did for "On the Waterfront," so "The Cycle Hub" does for Newcastle's River Tyne frontage. Dominating the promenade and tourist area, and close to the City centre itself, 'the Cycle Hub' must make other former industrial areas 'green' , but with envy! It has a big but personal cafe restaurant with an extensive menu, all priced sensibly. The decor is bright, stimulatory and colourful. The outdoor type would probably describe it as 'visually exciting.' I arrived here on a Sunday morn, on a bike, as did several hundred others. Seemingly from all parts of the North and East; SeaToSea riders stopped for a coffee and a pastry; 'Coastal Way' travellers had somehow pinched a bike to deviate from their proper route. Most of the cyclists were in groups, maybe from a club or friends socialising sensibly. It was delightful to see how many couples shared a love of cycling; young and athletic; old and looking a bit doddery; plenty were fat but fit! I've never rarely seen such an eclectic mix. Makes me wonder about the potential for a "Cycle Speaker's Corner" where we can air our peddling grievances and develop our own environment movement. Personally, I'm going to COP26 with my 'folder' see if I can run down a politician or two. The Cycle Hub is where pushbikers come because they know it is their domain, they will be welcomed, and catered for, The Hub supports all their needs. This is Newcastle; geordiland; the North East. The bicycle may not have been invented here, but without it, how would millions of coal miners and dockyard workers have got their shifts in, for over 150 years?? One thing is certain. At bait time, cornbeef and onions sarnies regardless, with or without their skimmed milk flask, or their quick release clogs, they would have peddled like hell to the Cycle Hub just to savour the flavour. They say the ghosts of the miners can still be seen peddling by on dark, moonlit nights. Wasting their time really. There's no pits open round here now.

Phone booking was easy. Ideally situated on the river Tyne quayside, you can ride along side the river for quite a way, then cross over to the opposite bank to return. Mostly flat good safe surfaces to ride, so suitable for younger members of your family too. Varied sections make your ride very enjoyable.
£20 for 4 hours.

Super lay-out seating inside and out ... Overlooking the Tyne ... very friendly and they have an ice cream/lolly chest that went down well with our toddler! Hot chocolate was amazing! Service was fast tables were clean and the toilets very clean and well stocked a good place to stop when on a wander by bike or on foot! It is tricky to get parked here though but there is also parking nearby a short walk away if the carpark here is full 👍🏽 industrial vibe in terms of decor and a bike workshop also in the building ..makes me wish I could actually ride a bike!
N. H.
What a brilliant place to visit. Bike or no bike, the welcome is superb, food brilliant and the views excellent. If you are on your bike, the set up is great. Bikes can be serviced and it is a great end to a bike ride. Recommend.
P. C.
Best View in Town and a good place for a cyclists to recharge their "batteries" 🚴🚴😎
S. W.
Fantastic job. I know little about bike maintenance so they could easily have ripped me off, but were so honest and accommodating, and not pretentious bike snobs. Top class service. I'll be back.
M. D.
Cycle Hub cafe and bar has the best terrace on the Tyne. The place is a great venue for any party large or small.
J. k. (.
A very nice cafe with great views down the Tyne, they have a good menu with choice of salads, sandwiches and sweets. We only had a chance for drinks, my Cappuccino was really nice although I wasn't sure why there was an extra charge, my good lady enjoyed her americano and the boy seemed to enjoy his sanpelagano blood orange.
You can hire bikes and it looks like they also did servicing too.
M. R.
Great spot on the Tyne for brunch or lunch. Good selection of drinks, sandwiches and cakes. Staff are wonderful and accommodating, view fantastic.
T. A.
Love this place. Had some alteration done to my stem yesterday. The mechanic was super friendly and very knowledgeable, couldn’t have been more helpful and very reasonably priced for the work done. However this is not a negative criticism never replaced the grommet protecting my stem bolt. I will get it next time I’m in. Thank you for all your help
B. H.
I enjoyed the coffee and the red velvet cake was OK. It does have a good view
D.
With only 2 servers on, I think they did a great job when everyone is ordering hot chocolates and lots of hot food. So it did slow down the ordering process. My main gripe was the cleanliness of the coffee machine, the steam wand had a buildup of grime and wasn't being cleaned correctly and didn't look like it had for a while. And the coffee that was used wasn't very tasty either, very burnt. Staff were friendly though and were apologising to customers for the time it was taking.
R. B.
A great place for any cyclist. Decent cafe, great location, friendly atmosphere.
E. W.
Great coffee and cake in this dog friendly cafe. We don't use the cycling facilities,.but use as a base for stroll around ouseburn 👍
K.
Location was great, Great menu choices there. The cafe has a bike repair shop inside also. I got toast, Was just ok., Wasn’t that nice, the coffee was average. The guy at the till had zero chat. He was really grumpy or sleepy or something. Not an upbeat coffee shop feeling at all. However great location and good menu filled with lots to choose from.
N. Q.
We went for a walk along the river when we came across the cycle hub. We decided to stop for a drink and food and wasn't disappointed, we had a tuna melt which was delicious and the hot chocolate was amazing too! If your sitting outside you get the most amazing views of the river Tyne
K. B.
Fab place , staff so friendly and every one else you meet is so nice 😁
A. T.
Great place to stop for coffee or lunch, fab views of the Tyne bridges.
e. t.
The place is on a beautiful spot overlooking the river. If you go on a nice day you can enjoy a beautiful view of Newcastle sitting outside at the wooden tables. They serve very good flat white and they have some food options too.
They rent bikes and do bike repairs. They also organize cycle tours. Staff is very helpfull and the equipment was all fab; I've rented a very good bike that took me on a 3 day cycle tour on route 1 with no problems.
J. P.
Used the car park next door during jury service and found the staff very helpful and friendly when I popped in to use the cafe . Well done all involved 👏
S. R.
I didn’t even know this place existed but the annoying rubbing sound from my front disc compelled me to call in! Not only did the technician sort it out very quickly, he even showed me how to do it myself next time. Customer service at its best. Just wish I’d got his name….
3. C.
Great food and great out door area to sit in the sun and enjoy the view
Also good facilities to breakup your bike ride from coast 😆
s. h.
Fab coffee and lovely views...what more can you ask for 🙂
E. P.
Very interesting! Placed along one of the many cycleways of England it provides two main services: food and bike. So that you can rest (eatinh and drinking) and also fix uoir bike or rent one for a trip. Very nice view on the river Tyne from the terrace.
C. M.
Really nice little cafe that does food and drinks. They also do bicycle repairs, servicing and sell bicycle accessories. The staff are also really friendly.
D. H.
Good to visit during a cycle tour (and also a walk). Has a ramp! Unfortunately the didn't offer a lot of different bakeries and if I remember right, no sandwiches, which I was looking for.
K. G.
Very helpful and honest advice given about my bike. Repairs done quickly and my old bike has been given a new lease of life.
S. L.
Nice place to sit and enjoy a coffee.
Not brilliant beverages.
A. J.
Nice wee cafe favoured by cyclists and others within a short distance of the Quayside. Seating outside offers nice views of the Tyne and the Milennium Bridge. Nice coffee and food
K. H.
Social distancing well sign posted. Hand gel available on entering and separate exit. All very well laid out, staff helpful... Coffee and cake still amazing 😁
D. N.
Nice little place for a coffee and a chat and reasonably priced too.
G. G.
A great pit stop on the Quayside for food and drinks. I did a one 2 one half day bike maintenance course with Simon and it was brilliant, hands on, learnt lots and great value for money.
J. H.
love the concept but the food is not good.
R. K. (.
Just brilliant. Food staff services, all excellent. The view is great too
W. H.
Good place to stop off for a break and also get your bike repaired as well.
T. G.
Good breakfast spot and you don't even need a bike.
c. g. m.
Lovely shame they want to close it and spoile the sky line it's a disgrace
J. B.
Nice cafe near Newcastle dine in or out depending on the weather.
A. E. A.
I like how the place has a selection from different food outlets.
L. W.
I love The Cycle Hub. I don't cycle currently but walk my dog along the quayside/Ouseburn regularly and we usually stop at the Hub for coffee. Paddy's always welcome (dog-friendly cafès are such a boon) and often gets a doggy biscuit from the staff. The outside seating area offers comfort, and social distancing, not to mention stunning views of Newcastle quayside, the Baltic and Sage etc. Fleecy throws are available for chillier days. There's always a lovely selection of cakes (including vegan/gluten free) and the coffee's lovely. Great staff, very friendly. I love it.💖
C. F.
Fantastic place, was once old worn quayside, now cycling paradise, great people, groovy bikes and all, cycled here for years, 😃✌enjoy all, thanx
A. 5.
Stopped by this morning for a tasty bacon sandwich and a coffee while the car was in for an MOT. Will call in again on my cycle.
K. G.
Beautiful views up the Tyne from this popular meeting location.
d. h.
Great espresso and friendly people. Conveniently located along Hadrian's way. Looked like they had a lot of gluten free options, but I didn't have a chance to try them unfortunately
R. D.
Stopped by for a coffee & slice of cake, wasn’t disappointed 👍🏻
D. L.
Excellent to see a focus on cycling, with great food at a beautiful industrial location on the river
G. X.
Had parked car nearby while visiting Newcastle and popped in for coffee on our way back. We got the coffee ( and gave into temptation) and chocolate cake. Coffee was good, the cake was delicious. We sat outside on a chilly afternoon to watch the lights coming on upstream, our guests were impressed.
B. M.
Great place to stop for refreshments. Bacon bagels are delicious.
C. V.
Lovely mocha. Dog friendly cafe with great views of the quayside. Highly recommend
S. C.
OMG the gluten free brownie is the best I have EVER had! The other cakes look amazing (the rocky road is actually a bit bonkers) and the coffee is really good. Brilliant place to have a coffee outside in the sunshine. More sweet than savoury although they do have some sandwiches. Hopefully they'll put up some umbrellas so we can continue to enjoy their hospitality for longer during the pandemic. Their safety measures are robust and the staff are fab! I go there a bit too often; see previous comment re brownie...
A.
This is a ideal place for hire for a cycling bike. Children and adults from 1hr 2hr or whats best for you the whole day if you require . Prices reasonable staff very friendly and polite hands on to they know what there doing .There's on line booking or you could call in on spec like me and hit lucky me and my partner hired two adult hybrid cycles two hrs 20 pounds wow what can you say very popular and busy amazing loved the day out .
N. T.
Spiller's car park offers free parking right next door for those not arriving by bike. The Cycle Hub is in a beautiful location on the quay and offers seating inside and outside. There's a good choice of vegan grub which is what appealed to me - I had the homemade lentil and mushroom sausage roll, the chocolate chip blondie cake, and a soya latte - all reasonably priced. I wished I'd brought my reusable cup though, because all the plates, knives, forks, cups were disposable.
D. T.
Lovely place to chill during a ride or walk on the Quayside, Staff are very friendly, the views are cracking and an interesting menu with cakes to die for. Also bike mechanic shop and bike hire. Just great 👍
P. S.
The cycle hub is the best. Its my favourite place to go for hot drinks and great cake, and I brought my bike down recently for new breaks. They fixed them quickly and gave me handy advice. They are lovely generous people and one of the best business in Newcastle.
D. P.
Drinks and cake were lovely, if on the pricey side.
On our visit the staff were enjoying a nice chat and were not overly attentive to customers.
G. J.
Lovely coffee, although avocado toast wasn't available. Lovely bacon sandwich though.
S. S.
Lovely place for a rest before and after a long ride. Nice food and friendly staff
P. E.
Friendly staff, top notch bacon butty.
S. G.
Really lovely cafe - great location, free parking, and good coffee and cake. Service is sometimes slow when busy but can be forgiven 👍🏻
E. F.
Fiendly staff, lovely choice of cakes and coffees, beautiful riverside view
R. S.
Love having a walk to this place with Mam. We have a bacon sandwich and cup of tea, absolutely lovely. Staff very friendly and very nice outdoor seating area.
S. D.
Great coffee and cake.. normal, vegan, veggie, they've got you covered.
B. R.
If your into cycling The Cycle Hub is a good place to rest from your ride
J. C.
Useful free parking for exploration of Newcastle and Gateshead quayside. Combined with a good cafe a riverside outdoor seating area. This is also a bike hire and support hub. Especially for those on the C2C cycle route.
P.
An excellent resource in a splendid location.
Gave my aging mother a most enjoyable trip down the quayside into Newcastle.
K. A.
Nice little cafe. Good views when it's sunny. Food is good and naturally plenty of space to put your bike.
A. R.
Always great coffee! And a nice selection of food.
P. C.
Location is fabulous, not had a coffee yet(update) great coffee friendly staff 👌
m. c.
Nice place decent cafe, good views from out door seating up and down the river.
J. B.
Great place for anyone to visit! If you love bikes, this is the place for you. Lovely staff and lots of seats and tables. You can park your car in the large car park right outside. The cafe is next to Quay Side river. Very picturesque and you can walk for miles in any direction alongside the river.
E. W.
Great place to stop for refreshments on a bike ride at the Quayside.
G. L.
Nice facilities and good range of vegan and GF goods. I had waffles which were a bit crumbly but you got 2 massive waffles and syrup.
P. s.
Bike ride and a half way stop off at the hub for a coffee. Coffee nice and had a piece of carrot cake. The carrot cake was heavy and dense and not for the faint hearted.
D. H.
The coffee was nice, my son rated the decaf as one of the nicest he had had anywhere. The rocky road cake ( I think that's what she called it) was very rich, just as well I had to cycle another 12 miles to get home.
L. D. C.
Lovely cafe and great location, evidently set up for cyclists. However has a cafeteria with a decent array of beverages, bites and you can sit outside. Situated another further along down the Quay side from the main area. Staff were welcoming. Worth a visit.
H. P.
Had a lovely coffee and a croissant here with my dog. Will definitely return.
A. L.
Generally really good, but charged my brother £3 for a pot of porridge that literally said 99p on it.
p. r.
Always quite liked this place as a stop off when cycling but not impressed with the value for money when it comes to food. A frankly tasteless tuna and salad wrap at £4 is taking a liberty as well as an even more tasteless chicken and salad wrap! If you're looking for better value food keep on to the quayside.... There's plenty there. On the plus side though, the coffee is good, the tea very nice and the staff are friendly and polite. Shame about those wraps! £4!?!?! Its got to be special to justify that. A tad disappointed .....
I. D.
Nice location by the bend in the river. Seating outside is great on a sunny day. Only used so far for tea and snacks. Food and drink was of a decent standard although service can be a bit slow. Lack of urgency at the counter but otherwise pleasant service
N. D.
Great location, lovely staff, excellent coffee and food.
A. F.
Good coffee . Super location. Cycle workshop on the Tyne. Coffeehouse could do with a spruce but everything else was fine
J. B.
Good coffee, fantastic view
m. g.
Only popped in for a quick drink but it seems a nice relaxed place with indoor and outdoor seating. But with it being a place for cyclists i thought they'd have more places to lock your bike to.....or did i not see them all. It was fine for us coz it was quiet. On a nice day like we had it got a good view too.
d. b.
Excellent food friendly staff👍
B. T.
Currently only take away service for coffee and cake and very little outside seating available but hoping it is back to normal soon.Still great views up the river to the Tyne Bridges.
B. E.
A perfect spot to grab a sugar boost to finish my ride off. Only a couple of miles from home but needed a can of coke and mars bar.
P. F.
My favourite place..great to meet up and ride off or finish..helpful staff and mechanics....👍🚴♂️
G. D.
Great coffee, only decent place to stop on Tyne. Sausage roll very tasty.
j. w.
Excellent cafe...twice had the bagel cream cheese and salmon....awesome. (100%better than poached egg salmon muffin hollandaise sauce at a chef restaurant I went too)
Lovely view of the Tyne bridges.
B. R.
Called in for coffee and we could take our dog inside. Coffee was nice and dog got a free sausage. We sat on the only comfortable little sofa . Outdoor seating for finer weather.
N.
It looks really enticing as you approach it. It's ok but misses a great opportunity to become a focal point for cycle nuts. I would like it to be better .
B. H.
Just stopped for a drink
(Very young) cafe servers operating behind a huge plastic COVID screen, they struggle to hear and when they do tend to forget the quantities.
Expensive.
R. B.
Have been here several times. Always busy. Not a massive selection of cakes but worth a visit. Great location on the Riverside with a lovely stroll along the quayside at your disposal.
m. j.
Friendly and welcoming to all, not just cyclists...but if you are a cyclist there are facilities for maintainable with skilled staff and loads of cycle related info and literature. Great coffee and cake too, plus a varied and healthy menu...they even love dogs ! . Great views up to the Baltic..
T. B.
I went to see if they could adjust the seat of my bike as it was uncomfortable but too tight for me to adjust. The lovely man did it and wouldn't take any payment. I'll definitely go back for any other servicing.
J. v. d. B.
Great place to have a rest when you're out cycling, right on Hadrian's way heading towards the coast or back towards Tyne valley. Nice coffee and they don't mind if you're caked in mud - also they have bike rental, a repair shop and stands to lock your bike up
m. S.
My son and I enjoyed a lovely deluxe hot chocolate as a reward for a long bike ride.
Great to sit outside and watch the world float by on the Tyne.
P. M.
Tables well spaced outside, card payment only when I was there luckily my friend had his card. Well screened off at the till. One way system worked well. Really pleasant staff.
J. S.
Great spot on the river for a quick repair and bacon sandwich and coffee before taking on the last stretch of the C2C. Lycra is not essential, but you will see a lot of it, along with cyclists of all ages and levels of experience. Great stop.
T. W.
Nice enough, no power sockets
A. “. R.
Really lovely little cafe on the Riverside. Used to be the old boat house.
Now it's a cafe/bike hire/bike repair shop aimed at the large number of cyclists that pass through on the local bike routes.
They have a bike shop inside and offer day hire of a wide range of cycles.
The cafe is cozy, welcoming and reasonably priced. Menu is not huge but the food is tasty.
We often pop in before we go for a walk on the quayside just because it's such a pleasant place to sit and have a coffee.
Well worth a visit
G. S.
What a view. Takeaway only at the moment but outdoor seating provides great views of the river
G. V.
Great place for cyclists. You can grab a quick bite (very reasonably priced) and have your bike services or just make it a stop on your route and you don't get funny looks for being clad in lycra. Staff are very friendly and helpful!
g.
Love this place! I regularly ride down for something to eat and a posh coffee when I'm doing a longer loop. Nice place that always seems to be busy (the food is very good) They do bike maintenance courses, hire and repairs/maintenance. Always friendly and welcoming
J. F.
Only had a coffee but it was good coffee! Friendly staff and good vibe. Great place to sit outside with views up the river towards the bridges. Would definitely visit again
C. S.
I've been here a few times now and the food and coffee are both excellent (I'm a particular fan of the sandwich-with-soup combo). You don't have to arrive on a bike to be a welcome guest, but, if you do, you can also have repairs or servicing undertaken by the integrated workshop.
A. L.
Beautiful views , coffee and carrot cake well needed, enjoyed both after a walk along the quayside,
M.
Free car park, great view of The Tyne and the bridges
m. j.
Good toast and coffee on a misty morning
E. B.
Stopped today to pick up 4 takeout coffees the coffee was good although it was just warm but the service is very slow, waited half an hour to be served with only 7 people in front of us.
B. F.
A really lovely welcoming, reasonably priced cafe. Especially nice to sit outside and enjoy views of river on a sunny day. Well used by cyclists and slightly out of the way for town passers-by. Can hire bikes here, but they also sell quite cheap ex-hire bikes.
t. l.
my favourite place to get my bike looked at in newcastle. the staff are super helpful & informative to newbies. and they are always swift to get the job done for me. The cafe inside is delicious too, I got a bacon sandwich as I waited and I wasn't expecting anything amazing but it was really really tasty. I always tip heavily because I'm always satisfied with the service standards inside. cycle hub #1!
D. M.
"Goodish" but not great. Scones very heavy & dense. Plus they were served in an expensive bio-box........Why not a paper plate? It's difficult to apply butter and jam to a scone in a deep box.
M. H.
I'm a chicken at bike riding but these guys fill you with confidence. So helpful, a pleasure to meet an enthusiastic set of people. The bikes are lovingly maintained and tres comfy. Cycling up and down the Tyne is a great treat - the paths are wide and easy. Massive fun for a few pounds.
E. B.
Great value cafe, free parking. You can higher a wide range of bikes here. As the name suggests it's a popular meeting point for cyclists, so it can get busy at weekends & during the summer. They also have a small bike workshop that offers repairs and servicing for all types of bikes. Nice walk along the river into Newcastle with some lovely views.
A. D.
Had my 50th Birthday Party at the Cycle Hub on Saturday night. It was perfect! The venue is just so atmospheric on a night time with wonderful views down the river - all the bridges lit up in the distance. Mark and his staff looked after us all SO well. We had everything we could have wanted. It was a truly fantastic night that will live on in my memory for many years to come. Adele X
K. M.
Great place to include on your ride for quality refreshments and a great view. Unfortunately if the sun is out on weekends you may have to queue for 10 minutes or more which isn't my scene but it's not the café's fault so what can you do?
M. T.
Well positioned bike hub for hiring bikes to go either east or west along the river Tyne. Large free car park next to it for anybody to get a coffe and sit outside and take in the views of the bridges up the Tyne.
J. A.
This is a nice cafe by the river used by lots of cyclists. Good range of snacks and paninis. Service could be better. While I was waiting to be served the staff member spent ages chatting to the person in front of me
R. C.
Fabulous cycle hire shop with excellent on-site cafe.
J. K.
We arrived at Sunday lunch time and the workshop was open with all the parts we needed. Really good coffee too. Even had good quality hire bikes. Everything is to a high standard.
H. K.
Whether you're a cyclist or not this is a great stop off to recharge your batteries so to speak. Parking for those that have a car is right next to the hub. It's a cheap and cheerful place. Your food order may take awhile but if the weather permits their is plentiful extra seating outside facing the river. Whilst here like anywhere else these days take care to keep your cycle locked or under the watchful eye as unfortunately a notice indicates thieves have been known to take advantage of the unwary.
That truly is the only downside, I've often called for refreshments coffee is on the okay side plenty of choices for eats, fellow cyclists seem to mix very well.
They even have a cyclist repair facility "just incase", so if your cycling perhaps C2C or just passing with an empty tank give it a go. As I'm sure you'll be more than happy ENJOY .
l. f. (.
The staff are amazing. They always have vegan food available and do a range of non dairy milks. The food is reasonably priced and very good.
H. C.
Lovely ☕ coffee. Great place to relax after a bike ride along the River Tyne, with beautiful views of the river.
l. a.
Great tasty light snacks and hot drinks after a lovely walk a long walk along the quayside. Highly recomended for a pit stop.
A. H.
Great place to visit and rent a bike for a few hours or if you have your own meet for a coffee and cake. Good bike hire prices and helpful staff. Lots of good bike trails along the side of the Tyne.
d. G.
Wonderful location. Very good service. Good menu and quality
J. C. (.
Can be quite busy but a nice place to visit particularly when it's possible to sit outside. Good food and coffee. Never find the staff very engaging - though pleasent enough.
c. M.
Great little place, good value coffee & sandwiches.
S.
I love this place where it's within walking distance from Newcastle Quayside. Always a warm welcome from staff with delicious drinks and lovely food
J. S.
Excellent service. Knowledgeable. My bike has never felt so good since its last service! Feels like a shiny new bike at a fraction of the cost of a new bike! Top marks for Mario and his team!
M. T.
Great place for a pit stop when cycling the 72 route.. very helpful staff, good food and lovely coffee.... any bike problems and service department always willing to help.
All round great for every cycling needs.
J. H.
Pleasant staff good coffee and carrot cake but very slow service
N. D.
The cafe has lovely outdoor sitting area with splendid view of the Tyne river.
E. O.
Great breakfast after our tour of victorian tunnels.
K. M.
Fantastic little hub for all...including cyclists! The fine cycling art on the walls is always nice to see. Most importantly the coffee is good and the cake decent!
s. h.
Trying their best to operate under current conditions
k. h.
Beautiful place to sit, socially distanced, looking over the Tyne.
Staff couldn't be more helpful. I will definitely be returning.
V. B.
Great place to have brunch after a run along the Quay Side. Good range of healthy options and cakes available. Plenty of seating, and huge car park right next to the Hub.
R. C.
Nice coffee with view of the Tyne
V. D.
Lovely coffee ,hot chocolate and home made food reasonably priced and best view of the bridges on the Tyne. Nice to sit outside on a warm sunny day after a good walk/cycle.
M. W.
Good place to start and finish a cycle ride beside the Tyne and further afield. Delicious cake ( lemon ) and coffee with views along the river.
J.
I did an advanced maintenance course with Mario, it was brilliant and we'll worth the money. He found good, cheap parts that fitted my budget and helped me understand far more about the way in which my bike works, what could go wrong, and how to fix it.
A. H. P.
I go there every week for my pumpkin cappuccino. Professional coffee. Great snacks. The view of the river and bridges is amazing.
D. K.
Fantastic place to eat and drink with great views of the Tyne. Cycle hire shop is brilliant too and the staff in both are fantastically friendly. Will definitely be back!
C. D.
Nice place for a coffee and cake when cycling along the quay - nice views of the river. Indoor and outdoor seating. Loads of parking if you're on 4 wheels rather than 2.
V. l. D.
Great drinks and food, friendly staff, good sporty atmosphere. Fab views of the river and bridges. Cosy inside in the winter plenty if outside seating in the warmer days.
S. B.
Popped in for a coffee and a toasted sandwich as they were dog friendly. The coffee was good, sandwich ok and the staff very helpful and friendly. No complaints really.
D. M.
Very friendly atmosphere. Bike staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. Cafe staff very polite and friendly. Good choice if food for vegan, vegetarian and meatatarian alike
H. H.
Fantastic bike shop! Simon has offered loads of great advice and when my bike needed fixing, it was done quickly and effectively for a very good price. Would definitely recommend, thanks very much.
o. 0.
A great spot on the Tyne with views up and down the river.
When weather is good sitting outside having lunch or a coffee, brilliant.
M. C.
Cool place, decent views, delicious cake! However, the mint hot chocolate is barely hot chocolate at all, far too minty. Non-cyclers are welcome too, but there are plenty of bike racks and even a bike workshop.
C. H.
Lovley place to sit and have a nice lunch. Especially with the hot weather you can sit outside and watch over the river. Food was excellent and prices were amazing. Service friendly too
W. L.
Just had a 2 hour cycle session with Les and Yvette then finished the morning off with a delicious cheese scone and a cup if tea.
Well worth visit..
.
W. G.
Good food many people about the quay but keeping well apart real busy today after a bit of sunshine
S. W.
Great hub, and with free parking - a very good place to use as a base for a walk along the quayside or Ouseburn
P. H.
Great cycling friendly cafe with reasonable prices, lots of outdoor space and great coffee. What's not to like!
S. L.

I have been walking during my weekends to The Cycle Hub, the view is spectacular and the hot chocolate glorious. ...
N. G. (.
Staff are really friendly, there is quite a bit of space outside, coffee and cakes are reasonable and nice.
P. C.
A favourite coffee and cake stop. The nachos are tasty and calorie-dense. The staff create a welcoming and reaxed atmosphere. Eating outside on the quay is a pleasure. The bikey decor, workshop/cycle hire, and the odd customer in well-fitting lycra leave you in no doubt that cyclists are welcome, but I had no qualms in bringing my girlfriend's folks here for a non-cycling coffee. The quality is there, so why not?
P. H.
Every town should have a place where you can sit by the river, watching the boats, drinking coffee and eating cake after a long cycle ride. Nice 🌝

Saved my bacon, or perhaps my head! When about to commence on the Coast and Castles Cycle route toward Edinburgh I realised I’d left my cycle helmet at home. I popped into the Cycle Hub to buy a new one, but sadly they don’t sell them. The gentleman behind the counter asked “are you cycling today” I said “yes all week head to Edinburgh” he then said “because you’ve told me that, for your safety I can rent you a helmet and bike. But the bike I rent you is free and can’t leave the shop. We give a free helmet with all bike hires.” Bit confused at first, but basically they loaned me a helmet and took a scan of my card incase I didn’t return the helmet! Great service and saved the day for me!
