Reviews of The Gossips Cafe
E. W.
Lovely café, with great views of Yarmouth's harbour, pier, and The Solent. Quick and friendly service with welcoming staff. The food is of very good quality and tastes excellent, and presentation is very thought out too, however said food is certainly quite pricey for the portions that you receive! 😬
Overall though, a very nice little café to get a bite to eat, before or after taking the ferry! 🛳️
E. B.
My children very much enjoyed their margherita pizzas and the paninis were very good too. As a vegan I felt like my options were somewhat limited, unless I fancied something spicy.
l. h.
Lovely lunch. Wonderful views. Location is easy to find. Efficient speedy service. Bacon Brie and cranberry melt was delicious
H. W.
Been here a few times now and always had a lovely experience. There's a lovely choice of sandwiches and cakes which are all homemade. There is a good number of seats and wonderful views out to the Solent. Staff are friendly and There's a nice feeling about the place. Toilets are located next door
S. A. K.
Nice place to have a bite. Good menu and the service is quick. It may be a little small so seating is somewhat limited during busy times.
m. b.
Very nice food as usual but the counter staff need some urgent customer service training. Also when a customer asks when the cafe is open it might be a good idea to mention that part way through the opening times the kitchen is going to be closed for an hour!!!!! Not impressed especially when you've made a special trip and have a diabetic person requiring a cooked meal in the party.
B. W.
The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The service was really quick and the food was really good . The selection of cakes at the counter is really tempting, and look fantastic.
I have read reviews saying this place is over priced, but personally I didn't think so.
This is a definite place to visit for breakfast when you get off the ferry.
M. G.
Location was great . We had a table looking over the sea. Food was more pricy than usual . And because other businesses were closed there was a half an hour wait. Paid parking outside. Staff really nice.
S. W.
The menu has a lot of choice, to the point of too much choice. Food quality is poor considering the price. Although Cakes and beverages are nice and are well priced along with Ice Creams. e.g. £5.20 for baguette with 2 sausages and little onion. Even charged extra for oat milk.

Found this gem following a trip on the Waverley. It was a wet day and the cafe was very busy but managed to find a table with a lovely sea view. Ordered chilli and rice- nicely presented hot and served quickly. My partner ordered the lasagne. Again good presentation and very tasty. The staff were polite and helpful including the owner who took time from his busy table clearing to recommend some dessert options. Tables were cleared quickly and cleaned ready for the constant stream of guests. The cost was very reasonable . Will definitely return if in the area again. Thoroughly recommend a visit. You won't be disappointed.
A. S.
Warm drinks, mediocre food. Lady at the counter, probably an owner or manageress, hasn't heard about the good customer service yet. Location is nice and the overall atmosphere is there to enjoy, hence 3 stars, not 2.
B. P.
Loved the food. Those serving the food were polite and friendly. A good selection on the menu and specials board. I would frequent Gossips again.
C. M. E.
Very nice location. View is stunning. Cake I ordered is superb. Been observing one of the older lady staff that I thought was being rude to the younger guy staff. Im not exactly sure what is happening i hope it was not the case.
m. M.
Nice sandwiches and paninis. Coffee good and hot tea nice. Relaxed atmosphere. Cakes looked really gorgeous must try next time
C. P.
Reliable café / restaurant with lovely views across the Solent (in good weather, anyway - in gloomy weather you can watch the waves or ferries instead). It does get very busy during holiday periods and finding a spare table can be a challenge!
M. B.
This place is busy, even in the winter months, but even thought, it has a lovely atmosphere, great scenery overlooking the solent, and they are extremely friendly. I highly recommend this place. The sandwiches are great aswell.
a. f.
Great location right next to the water and with parking a stones throw away.
Menu was a little basic but sufficient. The crab rolls were good.
If you're a coffee drinker and know your stuff then you'll be disappointed but anyone else will find it acceptable.
The coffee cake was pretty average and overpriced.
Would definitely come again.
P. B.
Very nice sitting are by the sea. Not very big. Needs a little more decoration. Free parking and paid parking both are available nearby.
S. M.
Very pleasant experience. We had the Harbour Breakfast with toast and it was the perfect amount of food without feeling all stuffed and bloated. The staff were all very friendly too :-)
S. M.
We have been here today and experienced excellent service. Very courteous staff and quick to bring our food. They listened to requests and met our needs well.
Would highly recommend them for a lovely lunch if you are in Yarmouth.
N. S.
Friendly staff, great good and great setting after there was initially a queue so we walked round Yarmouth but came back to the Gossips Cafe and glad we did plenty of choice so I'm sure everyone will find something to eat no problems at all
A. R.
Lovely cafe excellent food well served good value very good posistion looking out to sea and the harbour well worth a visit especially if you have time to spare before taking the ferry.
R. K.
Normally when a menu says something is spicy, it isn't.
Not here, my spicy burrito was so spicy that my firhewsd go a bit heated. Outstanding!
And the taste was so good. I also highly recommend their ice cream parlour here.
Mobile contactless taken here too.
Top stuff!
To the guy who gave me his a 1 star because they couldn't smoke on-site outside, yes, smoke in the sea, filthy smokers!
The area is a non smoking area, if you want a smoke, there are plenty of areas outside of the pier grounds, away form blowing smoke in everyones faces.
S. R.
Lovely cafe, catering for vegans, veggies and meat eater. Dog friendly outside only (unless a guide dog). Friendly staff.
K. L.
Loved the breakfast, the staff are really friendly and helpful, will definitely go there again
m. w.
Lovely location, great service and tasty food, ice cream wasn't bad either
R. D. L. C.
I've given this Cafe a Five for the view of the Solent and IOW Ferry, also always freshly served food and friendly staff.
P. J.
Nice food and well decorated, service was okay but staff didn't look too happy. Great location for the views.
Toilets are in a separate block, so would not be great if it had been raining. Menu is overpriced for what it is and compared to other places locally and we wouldn't go back for that reason.
P. C.
Long queue, badly organised, and a tad expensive. Staff alright but not overly helpful. Old lady taking orders at the till seemed bewildered and offhand.
R.
Come in every Tuesday and Thursday morning for coffee lovely staff, very clean cafe, lovely views and lovely coffee can’t fault it 5*
p. b.
Very quaint cafe with rich selection of breakfast food as well as some all-day dishes like pizza, baguettes and jacket potatoes. Superb view of the harbour!
M. P.
Apple Torte was nice but tad pricey. Flat white was good. Staff were a mixed bag - but the barista and till operator were lovely.
M. S.
Lovely selection of cakes, quiches and sandwiches as well as hot food. The milkshakes are awesome. Highly recommended.
J. H.
Fantastic views over the Solent, with friendly staff and reasonable prices. Smallish cafe that's busy and full, located over water next to the pier - "Yarmouth's only waterside cafe"
l. s.
Wonderful cafe, Great selection on the menu and really got gluten free, plus fantastic selection of freshly baked cakes
H. C.
Apart from the dog policy..... What do you think dogs will do that assistance dogs won't? Lovely food, great quality and great friendly service
J. V.
Such a busy place! Nevertheless the service is great. Tables are cleared and cleaned to prevent anyone having to wait too long. Menu selection great. We just had sandwiches but they arrived within minutes. Prices reasonable especially when compared with any of the other places available.
t. s.
Seems profit driven, been here a few times but this will be my last. You are crammed in like sardines, no butter on baguettes no garnish no frills but still costly. Biggest joke is if you order a cream tea most cafes allow a substitution for tea as my hubby doesn’t drink tea, we asked for a flat white and told you have to pay separately for this with no reduction for the tea you didn’t buy with the cream tea or a weak filter coffee!I ordered a warm apple pie but had to eat this entirely and most of our coffees before the dry over baked baguette finally arrived. Making you order more drinks maybe!!! On the plus side, can’t fault the views unless your in the middle where you might get a drink over your head as people struggle to squeeze through with their orders. Staff are friendly and everything is really clean but food and appropriate delivery of it has a lot to be desired!
A. T.
Great value and service. Food choice and quality excellent.
i. w.
Lovely food at this 5 star hygiene rated cafe with friendly staff. We ate there today during a busy lunchtime but all was spotless. Reasonable prices
D. E.
Lovely food in a super location. Would highly recommend for a really nice lunch. Had a seafood plattet with local crab, prawns and smoked salmon. Came with lovely salad, bread and saice. Lots of the good stuff. Very impressed.
G. H.
Great find. Right next door to the ferry terminal and Yarmouth Castle. We had a late snack just before closing. The Veggie chilli was served up piping hot and very tasty. My wife the Brie and beetroot tart with salad, again no complaints. Service was excellent. Recommended.
T. O.
This is another little gem. A good trick to have up your sleeve when in Yarmouth. Good service and good food. They are situated right by the pier, which is currently being restored with help from the Lottery Fond.
L. B.
Lovely venue overlooking the water, food very nice and well presented
J. H.
Lovely location. Always busy during the summer months so be prepared for a bit if a wait but efficient staff usually means you're served in reasonable time. The food is pretty good though not out of the ordinary. Prices are about right for what you get. All in all a pleasant venue for a pretty decent lunch.
D. S.
A lovely place with friendly staff. Delicious crab and prawn wrap. Fantastic views of the solent.
M. G.
Good choice of food and drinks. Could be better organised at peak times. Nice views
M. U.
Ended up eating dinner here after our first choice was fully booked but was really pleased we did. Plenty of seating inside and outside with some great views on the sea front. Good selection om the menu and we had 3 of their stone baked pizzas which were absolutely amazing. Really good pricing too and I would highly recommend this to anyone
S. H.
A wonderful experience. Friendly staff, beautiful ambience with the view of the harbour. Fantastic food. The whole family regularly go there for brunch.
T. I. (. I.
Fantastic spot, we had an early crossing and this most certainly met our needs. I had a veggie breakfast which was awful but that’s my choice.(I’ll try anything). I have to say that’s everything else looked first class. Nice staff a perfect location. Do yourself a favour and have their full English breakfast. I will definitely be back.
M. T.
Lovely but small coffee. No dogs allowed inside. No smoking at outside tables. Couldn't find the disabled toilets and ordinary ones are up 2 steps. Good disabled access to the cafe. Long wait to be served. Friendly staff.
B. J.
Went there for lunch today, excellent food and service
C.
Great experience of being on the prier and views of the sea. Great hot drinks and sweet treats. Choice of inside and outside tables.
J. F.
Great place for ice cream. We came back to Yarmouth at the boys request just to get one cream.
S. R.
Very nice view, good food, friendly staff, amazing location !
M. T.
Lovely surprise stop at this cafe. Very busy so returned after 20minutes. Definitely worth waiting. Huge variety of baguettes, sandwiches and sweet treats very very reasonably price. Thankyou.
V. H.
Came here for a quick lunch while on a short visit to Yarmouth. A pleasant little café close to the pier with outside tables and great sea views inside (watched a huge ferry sail into dock really close to my window!). The café was very well ventilated, just as well because it was packed with trippers. The waitresses were obviously rushed off their feet but I did not have to wait too long to get served. Large and varied menu that includes a wide choice of sandwiches and baguettes as well as fresh crab, pizzas, jacket potatoes, salads and breakfasts, but a bit more pricey than average. Had the smoked salmon and sliced egg sandwiches, they were generously filled and the brown bread was very fresh. You can get wine, beer and cider here as well as hot drinks. There are some toilets next to the café. Overall a good place to have lunch though it obviously gets very busy in the summer season.
M. D.
No chips, not keen on jazz elevator music, but nice food and friendly staff
L. R.
Great value, good food, very quick service when we needed to catch a ferry. Friendly and nice ambience and location. Wish we had longer there.
L. S.
So many staff members just standing around while being served is painfully slow , pizza was over priced for what we got BBQ chicken pizza with two tiny pieces of chicken on each slice and a single piece of pepper tasted great though, and the crab sandwich was lovely. Very clean premises and polite staff.
T. B.
We were lucky enough to stop here for a family group of ice-creams. Served by the super efficient Keith, our ice-creams were just delicious... My chocolate orange was like Terry's choc orange! This was beyond fabulous. Highly recommended..with great views too.
L. M.
Service was fantastic, everything was easy, quick and really delicious. Really lovely cafe in a great location too.
R. W.
Nice food and drink, good location.
S. C.
Brilliant friendly service. Distanced queue and my friend taken to a seat for 2. Prices reasonable One way system and logging in enforced. Lovely view through the windows of the ferry and England
A. R.
Lovely setting, food is always very tasty and fresh. The perfect little cafe for those visiting the Island and as a resident, always my first choice
S. B.
Amazing menu, interesting view, always changing, food was faultless!
K. G.
Lovely food. Good drink choice . Lovely staff and helpful staff. Great view of sea
M. W.
We were welcomed warmly and sat where we wanted to. Ordered food and drinks at the counter and were given our drinks to take back to our table. Must say that the coffee wasn't particularly hot and was immediately drinkable. Our food arrived. My wife had ordered a bacon and egg baguette. The bacon was inside the baguette but the egg had been placed very delicately on top of the baguette. The food was very tasty and reasonably good value.
C. S.
Always love this cafe. Good service, delicious food and lovely situation. Covid precautions in place. However, even though ‘entrance only’ and ‘exit only’ are clearly marked, some people were ignoring these and no-one is checking. Also, whilst waiting in the queue, socially distanced from the customer in front, one of the cooks came out of the kitchen and rudely marched straight in front of me and back again...no acknowledgment, no apology and worse still, NO MASK! If members of the public have to adhere to the rules, then so should the staff!! 😡
B. B.
Lovely food, good service, pleasant surroundings.
R. A.
Dry place on an extremely rainy day. Excellent millionaires short bread, very tasty carrot & walnut cake and the needed double shot latte - thank you - really a pleasant surprise.
M. C.
Really nice food and the staff were very helpful seating us with my wife's wheelchair.
R. F.
Food came fast, was hot and well cooked. There was an item missing but my waitress brought it straight away when I mentioned it. It's a Pepsi place - no Coca-cola. Nice atmosphere. There were a couple of quiet, small children. Don't forget to pay to park.
J. L.
Great location, basic food.
C. F.
Nice atmosphere, efficient staff and a good selection of food and drinks.
C. E.
Lovely place with disabled Parking and toilets and delicious food and coffee.
H. W.
Excellent cafe on the waterfront in Yarmouth. Great value tasty breakfast.
P. G.
Good coffee while you wait for the ferry
K. B.
Fabulous breakfast in a great location served with a smile
S. S.
Can't get a better location. Tight on the seafront. We sat by the window and we're looking down onto the water was beautiful. Great views of the pier and ferries. Soup, scone and rocky road was delicious. The cheese and ham panini was disappointing - fatty ham, very little cheese and burnt bread.
G. R.
Lovely food. Friendly staff. Very popular, busy all day. Nice to see them employing people with special needs.
L. R.
Great location in Yarmouth near the pier and we visited on a warm suny day so were able to sit outside. The crab sandwiches were delicious and staff friendly and helpful. Must mention Angie who was more than happy to bring us out extra milk and hot water for our pot of tea and have a laugh with us.
C. L.
Nice place staff ok very busy place during summer months
E. J.
Excellent... plenty of choice...quick service & lovely owner & staff !
J. A.
The cafe was OK but my wrap was dry . But the ice cream shop next door was amazing . I had the most amazing chocolate orange flavor ever and the man who served my ice cream was really nice and friendly .
R. W.
Always love the relaxed and friendly atmosphere at Gossips - and of course the great views of choppy seas. Great range of delicious food and drinks on offer and the staff are always really attentive and helpful. Pleased to hear also that they are introducing a loyalty card soon too!
P. P.
Seems to be popular with locals and visitors alike. Extensive menu available but we only had coffees.
M. U.
It was a great experience so far. I like their food, location, the atmosphere must visit this place again. Simply wow
C. R.
Lovely breakfast after coming off the ferry. Stunning location. Good food and service.
T.
Lovely little spot to sit outside for lunch if the weather permits. Really tasty baguettes although I would say don't advertise your bacon on the BLT as crispy because it certainly isn't!
P. W. T.
It was ok, service a little slow, one of the servers coughing her lungs up in the back, hopefully not infectious. All in all staff very very pleasant. And yes I would return.
J. J.
When leaving to the Isle of Wight before catching the ferry back I always go here as the baguettes always so good! On top of this the hot drinks arn't heated to crazy temperatures so you don't end up having to wait ages to drink it or burn your mouth. I usually get a hot chocolate and although it's not amazing it's certainly not bad.
N. S.
Exceptional friendly, good customer service very reasonably priced
L. D.
Perfect location but painfully slow service, and selectively they choose to sell ice creams when they want which upsets the kids. Food 8/10.
R. H.
Lovely cafe in fabulous location on Yarmouth pier.
All food is cooked fresh so expect a wait in busy times.
G. S.
Lovely little spot. Tasty grub and a nice view (we got one of the three tables looking right out). A bit expensive and will ask for the bacon to be a bit more well done next time.
A. J.
Lovely cafe with views across to the main land. Social distancing was done really well here. Delicious baguettes, good prices, highly recommend :)
H. H.
Great selection, quick and friendly service.
S. M.
Nice waterfront location by the pier. Soup delicious and good quantity. Friendly and helpful staff.
P. W.
Came here for a breakfast and it was quite nice, not too expensive and a decent selection.
It’s a very well run operation and spotlessly clean.
z. K.
Quite a cute efficiently run little cafe in a great spot. Comprehensive offering on the menu. Worth a visit.
R. W.
Good value for money Cafe with great view of the solent. Staff very friendly . Great place to go on a very windy day and if your very brave you can walk along the pier. A Cafe with some of the best views of the sun set in the uk. A must visit is Yarmouth and the gossips cafe .
L. B.
Lovely peaceful. Kept the place very clean. The min people left the table . Some one came over to clean it . Plus the windows were cleaned too. Food was very nice.
J. H.
Really good place to have a café, all food and drink ordered were delicious. Fast service, and they take android pay too! A little pricey however. Would recommend for breakfast, lunch, and a quick drink or ice cream. Staff were ok.
S. S.
Always our first port of call when we arrive on the island. Great range of baguettes and sandwiches, efficient and hard working team.

R. H.
Unexpected delight! Gorgeous view as Gossips is pretty much over the sea at Yarmouth. Quite a stylish blue interior. Sandwiches, pizza and homemade cakes but just really enjoyed a surprisingly tasty thai curry off the specials board and a Yachtsman's ale. Would recommend this place!
P. W.
Superbly prepared baked potato and panini dishes at very reasonable prices with waterside views.
A. R.
Super food, quickly delivered to the table, friendly staff .
J. D.
Beautiful food with great views and fantastic service
R. W.
Nice little cafe right on the seafront at Yarmouth, Isle of Wight. Nothing fancy, straightforward cafe food - hot, cold, cakes etc.
D. B.
Great location with great snacks & coffee. Either grab a seat inside or out and watch the world go buy. Service is always good and the food fills a gap. Local Guide Tip: If you sit inside by the windows you can watch the comings and goings of the harbour. For wifi, connect to Wightlink free one as Gossips don't seem to have one. #IWLocalGuides
P. A.
Very friendly staff and good value for money and great views over the water looking towards mainland Britain.
B. D.
Crab sandwiches were good. Nice location by the pier, castle and ferry terminal
C. B.
Ever-popular, even on the driechest of drizzly days, attentive, efficient family-run cafe and eatery at the base of Yarmouth Pier (pay your dues!), Gossips is our favourite haunt to watch the local vessels at regatta or just pootling about. Ferries dwarf the scene occasionally - also interesting to watch - before shuttling off to Lymington for replacement islanders of long or short duration.
Z. M.
Good food, average service and no undercover outside area/umbrellas for the rainy weather.. we visited with dogs so had no option but to sit outside on wet seats and tables
T. O.
My Wife and I had a very nice food here.
A. A.
Absolutely amazing little cafe! Great service, everyone happy to help and polite. Beautiful food and coffee.

C. E.
Great location. Coffee was nice. Food was ok
P. W.
We only had coffee and cakes but they were all good. Menu for food looked very tempting!
C. B.
Yarmouth's only waterside cafe. You can't get any closer to the Solent. Watch the pier, harbour entrance and WightLink ferry over coffee, breakfast or lunch...perfect.
P. N.
Nice hot drinks and cake. Scone tasted a bit old and hard. But nice café nonetheless

(Translated) Great location, cozy and stylish place, delicious hot chocolate and very polite service, and clean. The minus for the lack of a toilet in the premises, you can use the neighboring premises, but it is a problem, for example, for an elderly person.

Wspaniala lokalizacja, przytulnie i stylowo urządzony lokal, pyszna goraca czekolada i bardzo uprzejma obsługa, no i czysto. Minus za brak toalety w lokalu, mozna skorzystac w sąsiednim lokalu, ale jednak jest to utrudnienie np dla starszej osoby.
