Reviews of Poppy Field Farm

Amazing place!! May be the new local for my friend, so first impressions were crucial! all staff were friendly, accommodating and efficient. The food itself was lovely, we had lots of picky bits but honestly everything looked really tasty. Better standard than normal pub grub, very tasty we will definitely be back! Also they have giant cakes here (I have a sweet tooth) gutted they had run out of the cheesecake but I got the chocolate one. :0)

Hit and miss on food. Some days it’s been really good others not so. The breakfast is nice but cold. I like it here as my kids can play and not get bored although they could make a better play area in my onion. The staff are all so friendly! Will definitely visit again in the future and just cross my fingers the food will be good.

I called poppyfields at 10.30am yesterday and asked if they could cater for 10 of us at 12.30 the same day due to another local resturant that we booked with having to cancel our booking due to a fault within their kitchen and the lady i spoke to was lovely,, i asked if we could sit in a quieter area due to birthday boy having ASD and it being somewhere he had never been before and also my 12 year old nephew has ASD too , this lady went above and beyond ....We arrived and she had reseved a little area for us with some tables around us being reseved too so that no one could sit there and it become to noisy and busy,She was on hand should we need anything and even came over to the table after with a piece of their huge dessert cakes with candles and sang happy birthday to him which i thought was lovely although birthday boy was a bit shy. As you can imagine there was a big order as some had starters and mains, some had carvery .....but every single meal was lovely ...Hot where it needed to be hot, very well presented ( thank you kitchen staff) and the waitresses were lovely too ...Not forgetting the young man at the bar that was very friendly and again nothing was too much trouble for him either ....All in all a great experience 🙂 Thank you to all of you at poppyfields farm (especially the lady that took my booking and looked after us and the young man behind the bar )

Amazing place for breakfast! It's an all you can eat for £7 per person! With unlimited tea or coffee, or a fruit juice. The fruit juice size is shockingly small, so we ordered extra soft drinks, (personal preferences) service was prompt, staff were very knowledgeable about specific dietary requirements. Couldn't reccomend them enough!

I had breakfast. Choice was usual English breakfast. Taste was good. There are different price options from all you can eat to toast. There are vegetarian options and they tell you how many calories if you are interested.
It will be useful if they say clearly on website till what time breakfast is available. It's bit confusing.

Good Sunday carvery, friendly and helpful staff. Being seated near the play area isn't ideal if you want your children to actually eat anything but it's a good selection to keep them busy. I would definitely prefer more things to play with and less claw machines and "can I have another pound pleeeeeeaase Mummy" machines. Simple, cheap and effective just paint a wall and get some chalk, would keep the children happy for ages.
The food is consistently good quality for the money and if you love a huge slice of cake, this one's for you.
A. L.
Ordered a carvery takeaway and it was delicious.
Much better now you can load up your own food into your box.
Usually some of the vegetables can be hit and miss with being under cooked but they must have changed the chef as they were all cooked perfectly.
J. K.
Food was good, gammon is very salty but that's to be expected from a chained pub. The meat needs soaking or boiling prior to cooking.
Family area is great for children of all ages too. Decent parking and some outdoor space.
T. P.
Nice breakfast. I went for buffet breakfast. The staff was helpful if I need anything else. The only problem is it doesn’t tell you when the buffet breakfast finished on menu it could be confusing because you’re not sure if it’s available after 11:00am because the menu just says breakfast available until 12 o’clock.

Every single time we come to Poppyfields we just have the best experience. The roasts are always amazing and such good value for money. We came for a late brunch today and I had the all day breakfast and it was huge! Again so delicious and the staff are honestly the nicest around. I’ve been in with my autistic niece before and you guys just cannot do enough for us. I cannot fault it in anyway. Hence why we coming back every weekend! Keep up the amazing work guys we think you’re awesome!
J. P.
As always- a fantastic Sunday lunch. Staff very helpful. Be aware- they do take walk-ins, but it is best to book if you don't want to wait a very long time - very popular!!! Good value for money!!!
G. H.
A good meal for a fair price. I went for a Sirloin Steak which was cooked exactly as I wanted it, there was plenty of food on the plate.
If you don't mind ordering your food at the bar and want a good value meal this is a good choice.

Very busy and quite cramped despite large size, a typical gastropub quite popular in the area.
Food exceeded expectations though, the battered cod in particular was surprisingly great, rivalling that of a good chippy, and service was good despite how busy it was.
Affordable, with relatively decent food, and indoor and outdoor play areas for the kids, great for a cheap family meal out.
m. p.
Staff not very knowledgeable regarding vegetarian choices asked for decaf tea which despite being on the menu was told they don't have it.
Food was very tasty with generous portions. Atmosphere lovely as were the staff
K. W.
Spent mother's Day here for lunch with my teens. Food really good quality and delicious. The staff were incredibly patient with my disabled daughter and very attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. All very friendly.
J. R.
Fantastic experience and wonderful staff! Staff who carved the meat very attentive and lovely to talk to. Cake was massive but was able to take leftovers home. Would absolutely go again!
L. F.
Amazing menu selection and very friendly staff. I had the carvery which was one of the best I have tasted. The roast potatoes were first rate.
C. C.
Excellent service from the moment we walked in the door. Special thanks to Christie for making our experience even better. Food was quick and very nice. Definitely recommend a visit here.
C.
I've been here only once before for my birthday (as I dont live locally) so for my Anniversary lunch today there was no other place I wanted more than Poppy Field Farm. The service here is amazing I cannot praise them enough, the polite young man behind the carvery was very attentive, and polite. The ladies serving our tables are the most bubbliest and polite servers I've ever had the pleasure to meet, and the food was as always top standard. I highly recommend the Banoffee Sundae 😋😋 Cannot rate this place enough.
c. w.
Food OK, the 1 hr 20 min wait for it wasn't. In fairness to the staff, when informed how long we had waited, we were offered complimentary desserts. If you are going on a Sunday have the carvery, you might has less of a wait.
P. B.
Took the family here for the wife’s birthday treat great service and friendly staff. Food for all from the 6 year granddaughter to Nan who’s birthday it was. All the food , for 12, arrived together and was hot and tasty. Would recommend
J. T.
Booked for a family of 10 for a birthday meal this evening for 7pm.
Food was great along with the carvery but the service was terribly slow, staff members all shaking their heads, moaning at each other as to how busy and understaffed they were. 4 people ordered desserts which took half hour to come out only for staff to realise empty plates hadn’t even been cleared from the table.
We also gave a birthday cake to staff to be bought out when we entered but ended up asking the duty manager for it back at the end because of how slow the service was. After eventually finding the cake, he asked how the service was this evening. I explained to him and he apologised profusely and offered anything to make it better for us. To be honest, we just wanted to go home as it was getting close to 10pm and kids were becoming agitated and tired.
D. P.
Been here a few times and the food is usually good, only criticism is, they take forever to clear glasses and plates from the tables. We were there 2 hours and some tables were exactly as they were when we arrived, staff just walking past them without picking anything up, however the service at the bar was efficient and the meal was good.
W. H.
The size of the meals were so plentiful, and so delicious,as always.staff were great, couldn't do enough for us.
Never had a bad experience at poppy fields,
My only moan was not a selection of cheesecakes,we was going to try a different one.
A. P.
First time here after a visit to Northampton. It was a Saturday afternoon and quite busy but service was quick and food was lovely. A good choice on the menu. Staff were very helpful and would go again.
j. b.
First went 8/5/22 for sons birthday meal he has medical problems and was treated like a king 🤴.
A nice welcome great service food great as well
It has made such an impact on my son that we went back last Sunday, And the manager had remembered him .
Highly recommend 👌
Thankyou for making my son HAPPY X
M. F.
Busy at bar and quite a wait to be served. Took a while for staff to notice extra help was required by which time there was a sizeable queue.Otherwise would have been 5 stars as food and table service was excellent.
S. P.
I always go here for Sunday dinner when I can't be bothered to cook, love it here, great staff and lovely food. One of my favourite places.
B. T.
Poppy Field Farm is hit and miss. Midweek carvery appears to have less choice and the roast potatoes are stale and taste dreadful. Weekend is more expensive but totally different quality and carvery really lovely. Poppy is local to me but would travel to Toby carvery in Hunsbury for consistency. Was not a one off experience went twice mid week to see if it was an isolated bad day but same old tasting roast potatoes and that is a shame as they are second favourite to the meat for me. I know warmed up food from fresh......
M. D.
We had a fab time with friends, food was lovely, would like to say that the assistant manager Kath was brilliant, we had a little issue with ordering dessert to takeaway, but she sorted it out for us straight away, will definitely be returning 😊
J. W.
Every time I visit I'm impressed with the food and the service. This time was no exception. Thankyou for a lovely experience with my family and friends for my friend's birthday.
j. d.
1st time visiting here, and came with friends who recommended it... Can't fault the food or prices, and overall it was a nice family pub/restaurant only reason it didn't get 5 stars was due to fact meals came at different times
N. S.
Nice atmosphere
Good value for your money
Definitely would recommend
c. f.
Excellent food very attentive staff always busy would highly recommend poppyfields if you want Sunday carvery book in advance that's the one day you won't be able to walk in TOP MARKS POPPYFIELDS X💯
B. R.
Had the large carvery could of done with a bit more meat but good experiance ....
my peroni pint was flat but they changed it for me no problem
C. B.
I had high expectations after visiting the Bedford bar and they lifted up to them all. The food is great well cooked and good portions. The place is clean and the staff are fantastic. We ordered cakes this time and wow they are amazing and huge. Cakes slice would easily feed 3 or 4 delicious and amazing value served on a normal plate not a cake plate ace. Really will be coming back time and time again in the future.
C. S.
A great pub with a varied menu. You can get different sizes if carvery. The food is very good and the portions are generous. There's also a large selection of ice cream and huge slices of cake that can be taken away.
L. H.
My family and I came for a birthday meal for my Nephew...we reserved a table for 7.30pm. The staff were very friendly and chatty, we ordered drinks at the bar first...we were served quickly by lovely staff. We then opened a tab for our table for the food, we ordered...some had carvery and some ordered off the main menu. The food came out quickly, the carvery food was very nice, freshly cooked and you can help yourself to as much potatoes and veg you wanted 😋....we didn't order desserts as we were full from dinner....but will definitely be coming back for cake.
S. K.
Nice quick service even though it was very busy! App is amazing so no need to go to bar. Really hot food and plenty of it and nice slab of cake to takeaway.
P. W. (.
Great value food. Very tasty carvery, apart from the Yorkshire pudding strangely.
Very friendly staff and child friendly; but some of the over 5s seemed to be a little excessively loud.
L. m.
Cant fault this place ..food excellent the carvery is superb except carrots can be slightly too hard but its not too much of a issue .. love this place still havent managed to get to desert as you get plenty of food and always full up..
C. M. F.
Great service good value food well presented and swiftly served
S. S.
We had nice meal, ordering at the till was bit difficult, but overall experience was good.
J. D.
Nice, new little restaurant, just way too busy most of the time. We went there on a Sunday when the main menu consisted of a Carvery. We had to queue for more than half an hour to get our food. Staff is great but booking management and amount of staff on the floor should be improved upon.
J. P.
Excellent place with great tasty food- do book on a Sunday- gets very busy - little chance if you're a walk in of getting a table
S. C.
Been tonight for a 40th birthday meal. Reservation was easy to do and we were all seated in a semi private space which was lovely. Plenty of choice of gin which is a bonus.
Ordering dinner was done at the bar and as we were having carvery we were given our tickets to go up to eat when we were ready. 2 other meals were ordered at the same time so we waited till those were served. The dinners came out quickly and were piping hot.
The carvery had a choice of 3 meats. Unfortunately, we were told you could only have one choice of meat. We all said we would have liked a mixture but I guess it's a personal choice. Lots of vegetables and sauces available. The Yorkshire puddings were extremely hard and we all left them.
Dessert, well there was so much on offer! We decided to use the "cakeaway" as we were too full to eat anything else.
H. P.
Had a fantastic dinner here this evening. The team were working so hard and are a credit to their managers! Would definitely recommend.
K. B.
Food was delicious, staff were lovely. The choc fudge cake I ordered was a bit too big but nice.
M. H.
Poppy field farm is quite a large pub/restaurant with a fair quantity of older diners at lunch time, when I was there, it was quite cold in the dining area and almost every one was wearing their outdoor clothing, just one more thing the coleslaw was inedible they must have used the outside leaves and other vegetables that were past their best before date the pieces were far to coursly cut, I,e inedible, to finish on a positive, the staff and service were good if not brilliant
M. L.
The food was absolutely lovely.
I really enjoyed the steak.
The staff are all friendly
B. T.
Had sunday dinner here again today service was fantastic alaway seem to have phoebe and christie who are alway bubbly and happy to help only compalint is chef need to learn how to cook sprouts and coliflower properly as they are always like bullets xx
A. O.
I've been here three times now, first time on a Monday evening, everything was fine until I was waiting so long to be served at the bar that my food actually went cold. Second time was on a Sunday, service was fast and they seated us even when it was busy and we didn't book ahead, though if you have kids I recommend booking. Sunday was a good experience. Third time was on a Tuesday, I ordered a coffee and a cake as it's just £4.50 which is great, but I waited a while for the cake to arrive which is disappointing as I order coffee with a cake so expected to have them both at the same time, in order to have them at the same time I had to go to the bar again (baring in mind I have a three year old with me) to ask where the cake was. When it did arrive it's a huge slice with cream and tastes lovely.
Update!
They need a deep clean, picture below of the fan above table 13 & 14
J. A.
Food was lovely service by Adam was excellent , Adam could not do enough for us, he sorted our table for easy access as my friend had difficulty walking, nothing was too much for him
A.
Love the buffet breakfast here, great value and friendly staff
S. B.
Really like it here. Come here often with friends and family. Good vege options and staff happy to help with dietary requirements. I have veg from the carvery. Gravy is vege too which is great. Everything in the carvery option is labelled too which is helpful esp with roasties as one is goose fat one is not. Parking great and really relaxed atmosphere which is great after a hard days work.
S. B.
A group of us went there to celebrate a colleagues birthday we all had the carvery which was very good service would highly recommend it
V. S.
Never been here before so didn't know what to expect. You order and pay at the bar and your meal is delivered to your table. This was not something I had experienced before , I'm more used to ordering at the table and paying at the end but regardless of how its ordered I have to say the food was excellent.
My son and I had the mixed grill and though we are both big guys we were full , my wife had the sea bass which she thought was very good. Dessert was ordered from gluttony not hunger and it was huge, I can't ever remember seeing a sticky toffee pudding that big. Add all that to friendly staff and good prices it made it a good night out. Would recommend.
J. S.
Great value for money on food with excellent, friendly staff. We love it here!
s. e.
First time of going food was fantastic, staff friendly and helpful, great atmosphere will be going back soon
B. C.
Nice little dine in pub.... Good value, good food.... enjoyed taking the family there.
S. F.
Decided to make the most of the final day of eat out to help out by going to Poppy Field farm tonight. The staff were very friendly and the starters and main courses were very tasty and the portion sizes were great. The only small disappointment was the pudding. The lemon cake was huge and tasted great but the cake itself was really dry and dense. All in all we was all very happy with our meal and would go again
B. C.
Had a great breakfast this morning! Staff are friendly and good place for kids with stuff to keep them entertained
W. M.
Tried the traditional breakfast. Was pleasantly surprised even though it was self service. Featured black pudding and mushrooms which one doesn't always get with breakfast in other such premisises . Can recommend, will go again.
D. L.
family outing had festive pie with all trimmings had a great time staff wonderful
L. M.
The young girl called Trish served us made us feel so welcome a credit to the company food was good value too
J. T.
Nice experience and quick and simple to order food. Dinner nice apart from mashed potatoes hard and the gravy far too thin but overall not too shabby! Photo below 🤙
l.
We have always enjoyed this restaurant/pub. Decent prices, lovely food and friendly, helpful staff!
Child friendly
Nice atmosphere
***What I find particularly great, that makes it stand out, is that there is one end of the building dedicated to people with children. There is a small, gated play area with a few toys, games and grab machines.
As a parent this makes dining here much less stressful as I'm not constantly having to try and keep a young child quiet/at the table. Also this "split" in seating areas allows us to stay till almost closing time, as the (awesome) staff tend to keep the adults who've been drinking, on their end and the children on the other end. No rush or pressure to leave.
It is also great for people who don't particularly enjoy dining around children or families, and enjoy quiet relaxed meals. Since children are automatically seated in this other area. ***
T. R.
Excellent and pleasant Sunday afternoon spent in the pub. Excellent food and lots of it. Staff very friendly as usual.
Highly recommended
I. K.
Professional service and friendly staff work here. Lovely breakfast
K. J.
Decent food, good seating and plenty of drinks to choose from.
k. d.
Went here for a carvery which wasn’t really up to our standard when we let them know they let us order from the menu and were very kind to us and sorted it immediately.
I will return again without doubt
T.
Lovely food, friendly service and a great kids area which means kids can play and other diners can have a more peaceful experience
M. C.
Fantastic carvery for a chain group. The ultra breakfast is awesome it'll set you up for the day, friendly helpful staff, tables are clean and tidy as is the whole establishment, easy access for all, best to book a table to avoid disappointment as it can get busy in the evenings and weekends. They sometimes provide live viewings of football and rugby matches on big screens but best to ring ahead to confirm before you travel.

Nice pub suitable for casual breakfast, lunch or dinner. Pricing is great, portion sizes are decent. Staff are decent. Place gets rather busy. Decent parking space. Outside seating as well.
D. P.
Great food helpful staff
K. E.
Staff are very pleasant and helpful.Nothing was to much to ask for.Very happy to tell our friends.
Big thankyou to all the team.
B. K.
Positives; food was great, app is convenient and simple, excellent value for money, staff were friendly and helpful.
Negatives; food was slow to come out, frustrating experience with the unsupervised play area for the kids.
Context; party of 6, two kids. We reserved a table for 6pm, and ordered food and drinks via the app. When the drinks were bought over 10-15 minutes later, we were advised the food would be a further 40 minutes - which was accurate. Given they obviously knew the delays, it would have been good to have been advised on the way in the door, as it's difficult to ask a hungry 8 year old to just be patient. While waiting, the kids spotted a claw machine and were excited to investigate - came back disappointed because it was in the 5 years old and under area. Later they got really upset when clearly older children were loudly and aggressively running rampant and unchecked in an area they shouldn't be in. Again, difficult to explain why they couldn't play with the claw machine in the circumstances. Not sure what the company policy is on monitoring them, and I'm aware the staff were clearly busy, but wasn't great.
W. P.
We had some burgers and they were good. They also have a great desert selection
H. S.
Poppy fields was larger than i had expected. The carvery was extremely good value. It is worth going early.
I didn't have any of the desserts but they are so large, probably best to share.
T. W.
Great service but food let the place down , chips luke warm , coleslaw full of unchopped cabbage . Cake away very dry ( Carrott cake ) . Overall rate 6 out 10
S. G.
Family of four , had 3 mixed grills and son had carvery, all mixed grills were cooked to our liking and my son finished his plate with the carvery something he doesnt do often.. we felt the meals were much better than they have been before well cooked and presented. Especially for a busy saturday afternoon. We will be back .
C. C.
Carvery was OK, meat serving was a little smaller than I would have liked..
Overall it's a nice restaurant with great staff
Didn't have any of the deserts but they looked out of this world!
M. W.
meal was lovely
price reasonable
clean and tidy pub

At 40 weeks pregnant I NEEDED a carvery. Drove 30 minutes to the Toby carvery in Grange Park and was turned away withkre than an hour wait even though it was dead. So headed to Poppyfield Farm... I'm so glad it happen Ed that way! We were greeted quickly by friendly staff who seated us near to the carvery. We were served large portions of delicious meat and the veg, though it was low, was fresh and replenished just after we'd helped ourselves. The restaurant was VERY busy, but there were no delays in receiving our drinks. Will definitely head there first next time.
M. S.
Average experience. Was very busy though on a Sunday late afternoon. Queue too long for carvery. Had sea bass, which was good despite too much grated onion.
A pint if warm IPA.
M.
Fantastic place with great food, so much so we, old work friends, are going to be going monthly
D. L. V.
Fantastic place to grab a bite. Great atmos & very friendly staff

R. S.
Lovely welcome as we walked in, good food for not much money, forget the diet for a while
G. H.
Becoming quite a regular haunt! Carvery is excellent and other meals on the menu are huge. Definitely get your moneys worth.
S. B.
Amazing food and service. Family friendly too. Defo reccomend.
P. S.
Took my son who has special needs here for breakfast today as it was his 21st. He doesn't like everything on the buffet menu so he just had egg, bacon and sausages. To be fair the lady did give him some extra bacon. Whilst we were sat down I asked a member of staff if he could have a couple more sausages. The member of staff went away and the manager said no as the sausages were the most expensive. Considering there were loads of other bits he didn't have. It would have been different if the buffet was like it used to. I fully understand about the contact with serving spoons. Not as good as it used to be. I won't be rushing here to quick in the future.
S. W.
We were a table of 12 and even though it was very busy we had great service from polite and helpful staff and the food was incredible. Cakes were brilliant and all took one home. I camt recommend this place enough!! Thankyou for a brilliant afternoon!!

Friendly staff. We went for breakfast and were the last in the queue, they made fresh stuff for us to pick. We'll priced too

At last I finally booked a table for Sunday lunch ... Booking tables for over 8 people is STILL quite an effort .... But people ....Persist as the food is great (GRRREAT!!) and will definitely be back VERY soon!! I'm sure they'll sort out large bookings problem soon!!?? LOL.
Only other thing is It's VERY hot in there on a warm day as carvery gives off a lot of heat and air conditioning can't cope! could do with some windows/doors opened?? Once again ... food is 5 star!! and service!!
j. r.
Amazing carvery and desserts service was perfect.Thank you Rachel and team
J. M.
Had fish and chips and complained about fish being all batter and poor quality fish at £11.79 overpriced
P. P.
Had a really nice carvery here.Massive portions well cooked .Attentive staff and the cakes I've never seen anything like it in a pub before there amazing 👍
Edit for recent visits I don't know if you've changed chef's lately but the potatoes are not roasted correctly and I find them inedible just soggy and filled with grease. just constructive criticism your tats used to be lovely!
J. B.

It was lovely we went for an early Christmas dinner and the table was nicely decorated for us and the Christmas dinner was lovely and the toffee cheese cake dessert was amazing and so much of it :) x
J. F.
Visited today, was asked if we were ordering on the app ( which we hadn't installed) or would we like table service, we opted for table service, after waiting 15 minutes with no sign of any staff, we downloaded the app and ordered, drinks and food arrived promptly, and the meals were very good. Ordered a cakeaway of an éclair, looked very impressive but unfortunately it was still raw in the middle.

Beef carvery spot on. THANKYOU
I purchased 2 "Too good to go" carvery meals for just over £6. The value of 2 meals was listed at £14. It was inedible and consisted of vegetable slop. 2 carverys are £14 and are lovely. So I ended up throwing it away as it was inedible. Reply: thank you for replying. Normally your food is so nice and i visit often. . I was surprised that this wasnt. I will continue to visit as I usually do enjoy your food and facilities.

This establishment is local to where we live and we have been there a number of times, I have always found their menu to be varied with a good choice of different meals available alongside the usuals and the items we have ordered have all been very nice. They offer a carvery which is very tasty. They have an area of the restaurant which is reserved for families with smaller children with a play area for them, leaving the rest of the restaurant for those who prefer a quieter dining experience. I have also found their pricing to be very reasonable and service levels to be very good.

We had a small works Christmas Dinner, the waitress was very attentive and made sure that everyone in the group had what they needed ,
P. P.
We arrived Sunday around 13.00 with no reservation but we're found a table within a few minutes.
We used the Green King app to order which worked well and both the drinks and food came out fairly quickly to say it was a busy period.
The staff explained the set up for civil distancing etc and could not do enough to help you out.
Good food and good service led to a good experience
S. B.
Lovely carvery meal .all cooked well and loved the beef and lots of choice veg

V. K.
Had a takeaway carvery, lovely, friendly helpful staff
W. S. J.
Excellent food at very reasonable prices and the staff are excellent!
A.
Nice food, and you get a lot for your money
G. S.
Service was great and very friendly. Food was overcooked on both chip shop suppers. Steak pie was large but was all gravy and pastry with very little meat but was tasty.
N. H.
I absolutely love it here, such a relaxed atmosphere. Food is always great whether you order a carvery, cake or off of their main menu. I always recommend it to my friends and my family come from Wellingbourgh and Corby just to eat here with me, we all agree its much better than a Toby Carvery.
A. C. (.
It's good, staff are friendly and mostly It's as you would expect from a large budget chain. Was disappointed with a couple cold items on my plate and a couple missing bits from meals, but overall a nice place
Y. S.
Arrived earlier then booked and staff were kind enough to accommodate us. Got seated straight away. Great service, lovely staff. Food was lovely and we took 'cakeaway' as we were so full. For our 1st time here, we will most definitely be back. Cleanliness was A+++
G. G.
Great dinner out here on Friday 18th June, was our first trip out together since reopening, Antonio who was looking after us was amazing, a perfect hostess we had a lovely chat with her, all the other staff were amazing too. the food we had was lovely.
we much prefer the help yourself carvery but given the circumstances it works well.
Well done to you all at poppyfield and thankyou for your hard work x
a. d.
Took home a huge Sunday dinner in a sturdy plastic box with lid, even a tub of gravy! perfect!
C. B.
We booked ahead as there would be twelve of us (6 adults plus 6 children).
We dined for the Breakfast sitting and were very pleased.
The Menu is buffet style, which is ideal - especially with children!
The price was very reasonable and the food was very good quality and also hot!
The Staff were all pleasant, happy and willing to please.
Furthermore, there is a great children's play area.
L. M.
First time visiting this place was a lovely atmosphere the staff were very accommodating and helpful the food spoke for itself,,was delicious and fresh,,needless to say we had standard plates and couldn't finish it will be going again this weekend as it was such good value for money loved it,,,we also did get a cakeaway to take home lol xx
N. J.
Had a lovely afternoon ☺liked the 3 different size plates for the carvery. Strawberry 🍓and ice cream was great 👍cake portions are too big for me but choices are great 👍
K. O.
Even in these rather trying times, we had a really lovely meal.
Observing the requirements for face masks when not seated, we were quickly attended to whilst waiting, shown to our table and politely instructed on how things work to aid in everyone's safety.
I had the mixed grill (as usual) and every piece of meat was cooked to perfection and the steak chips were gorgeous. This was followed by the "Crunchy Munchy" sundae, a generously sized and fairly priced dessert.
All five of us agreed the meals were great - it was my first visit, but won't be my last.
E. P.
Had a fantastic Sunday roast today. Glad we booked as it was very busy! Service was brilliant especially at the Carvery section. Food was lovely, roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings were especially good. Would definitely recommend! Although be sure to book if you’re going on a Sunday.
S. M.
Our first meal at Poppy Field Farm, and the food was delicious! Our starters and main courses were cooked to perfection and full of flavour! Amazing service from our first steps in the door until we left! Lindsay is an absolute credit to the team and Pheobe was an extremely attentive and friendly server! Also big thanks to the young chap who served our yummy food! Will definitely be returning!
Thank you so much for a lovely meal 😊
d. p.
Love the food here would be 5 stars if brussles where cooked just a touch more
My only complaint is watching 3 staff walk past a dropped menu on the floor 15 times
S. G.
Food delicious and plenty, atmosphere friendly
A. D.
Went for breakfast buffet but they hadn't had a delivery so there wasn't really anything to choose from ☹
S. P.
Good food, friendly staff and good parking
R. K.
1st time going hear and the welcome was very polite and happy with smiles all the time food came out just as we were coming back with our carvery. The cakes are amazing and love the fact that you can take them home and eat later if you are full up from their amazing food thanks for a great 1st time we will be coming back
S. H.
Great food, great service, polite staff who are very friendly
C. A.
Its satisfactory as carveries go, any food at times beats cooking, inexpensive pub, value for money food, staff are helpful.
L. B. (.
Lovely carvery, a bit of a shame we can't put our own food on the plates, I'm aware of Covid but we're not going to be putting our hands in the food! None the less, staff were all friendly and service was excellent.
K. W.
Good choices good food good service friendly staff good value
K. T.
First trip to Poppy Field Farm having heard good things about it from friends. We weren't disappointed. The food was delicious, the portions generous, the atmosphere relaxing and the staff were very attentive. The menu is vast and has lots of choice, as does the bar (both alcoholic and non). Just one word of warning though - the desserts are huge so make sure you leave plenty of room!
D.
The food was usual carvery fare. The disappointments were the frozen veg. The bonus side was a salad bar choice instead of /plus the cooked veg. The other nice touch was a scoop of ice-cream included in the price. The children ate the carvery for only £1 on Thurs which included an ice cream and a drink. All in all we had a lovely evening.
K.
Really nice filling food and pleasant staff but please wipe a table down before you seat your customers (ours was covered in crumbs) and top up your sanatiser too 😘
C. F.
Food always good the desserts are very nice
P. C.
Large, family friendly restaurant with plenty of space and tables. You have find a table and order from the bar. We ordered a child's Carvery and three meals from the menu. The Carvery was very nice with plenty of choice and the other mains were very tasty and very filling, so much so that we couldn't manage dessert! The only disappointing thing was the time we had to wait for our food. It took over 35 minutes for our food to arrive even after asking a number of times. Other than that, a very good dining experience.
D. B.
Fair price for a very good carvery. The air conditionned play area is a huge bonus if you have kids. The staff are also top notch. They the young lad that was running the area we sat in was very helpful and very nice. I've now been a few times. Highly recommend.
A. O.
Excellent atmosphere and great food. Pop in on the of chance as it was a very busy lunchtime. Seating was slow, which as no one on the desks. When seated I asked for food to be clear under the table.the waitress wad amazing nothing to much. Explained or things worked. We ask opted for the carvery, which had the different size plates to choose from. The choice of vegetables was large, the re was for choices of roast meats. The mask was excellent, we all enjoyed it and world vainly go back again. We sat in a area with no children below 12, there were a few area, with one especially for families which had toys etc.
G. C.
Great food, well prepared.
L. R.
Although extremely busy the staff were absolutely fantastic, the food was very tasty and although busy the wait was minimal. Would highly recommend .
D. B.
Great value for money, busy so make sure to book. Over did it on the carvery before spotting the cakes 🤦🏼♂️
K. P.
Came in today for lunch and the service was outstanding! Really enjoyed my meal which was the chicken medley, sooo good! Would definitely recommend to anyone who’s in the area!
L. F. D.
Amazing food. Puddings and great staff
K. C.
Absolutely loved it! The staff couldn't be nicer or more accommodating. The food is delicious and fairly priced and the portion sizes are brilliant. Clean tables and bathroom. And the cakes are out of this world in taste and size! Will definitely come here again and recommend to everyone I know!
J. H.
Really good value, we had the carvery the meat was excellent and a good selection of vegetables. Could do with an extra member of staff for ordering, didn't have to wait too long the staff were very busy but still managed to be friendly. The cakes are delicious too if you can manage to eat one.
J. H.
Great food very quick service
Cakes to die for
J. C.
Excellent carvery better than Wootton
D. P.
I took my mum here for dinner for her mothers day gift. The food was amazing, really nice carvery. The cakes are to die for The best cheese cake I have had for a long time. 1 slice for me and my wife and it was so big we could not finish it, but if you ask they will give you a box to take the cake home with you.
Plenty of parking, nice FREE play area for the kids which included games consoles, so that kept the kids quiet, nice clean toilets.
I enjoy a good carvery, and although its 30 minute drive from my house in Rushden, its well worth it!
If you want somewhere to take the family for dinner, then this is the place to go!
R. H.
We went there for Mother's day meal ( 4 of us), and did not have to book. We all had a carvery dinner and the food was excellent,
There was a choice of meats all cooked to perfection and a very large selection of vegetables, or even a salad option. The dessert menu is the best you will find, you have the usual options, like Sticky Toffee pudding and, Chocolate Fudge cake, but then they have many flavours of Ice cream, in all sizes. But the BEST item on the sweet menu are their cakes, they have to be seen to be believed, the slices are so large that they provide a takeaway carton to take them home in because you will struggle to eat it all. It's the place to go when you are feeling really hungry. It holds around 200 people, so you should be able to get in anytime.
L. M.
Nice cozy restaurant. The interior decor makes you feel like home. The staff are all friendly and very professional. Big portion for the food with reasonable price. We had pepper mushroom pie. The filling is very tasty but unfortunately the pastry was overcooked and rock hard. Nonetheless, I would certainly visit again to try other dishes on the menu!
J. S.
Thoroughly an incredible experience, both the extensive and varied menu to the incredible quality of the food, everything about my visit to Poppy Field Farm was fantastic, 5 stars
s. a.
beautiful place, beautiful food.... all the staff are lovely polite and very very helpful... being disabled the staff couldn't do enough to help... thank you for all the help that was given
K. P.
Cheap and cheerful. It has a really good kids area. We had the carvery and it was a quiet time, the meat was nice but the other offerings were not good, I think when its busy it would be fine as much of the issue was the food had been sitting there under the heat lamps for a while.
R. H.
As a vegan I'm always that person who annoys staff when placing my order, With a long list of questions. We were served by Harriet today and she was more than accommodating. Nothing was too much effort and she made sure I was happy to eat there. The food was amazing and like Harriet all the other staff today were pleasant and kind. Well done to a great team.i will say though...the eating areas were nice and cool but the poor staff could do with some fans behind the bar.
P. H.
The food and service is genuinely excellent. An absolutely perfect pub dinner, they also have a really well set out seating area, ideal location and ample parking. So please do go and enjoy yourself.
C.
Great place to relax and enjoy a meal with family
J. D.
Good menu choice and reasonable prices. Helpful and friendly staff. Pleasant surroundings. My lamb shank was perfectly cooked and hot!! Covid compliant. Highly recommended.
R. W.
Just had a superb meal and a lovely time the staff are very friendly and welcoming would highly recommend them to everyone
K. M.
All you can eat breakfast top job
S. B.
With three stars I'm being generous. I won't itemise, but the overall quality of the food was mediocre at best. However, the portions where generous. So if you want to fill up with average quality food its great.
It's quite difficult for me to comment on the staff as I only spoke very briefly to one staff member, the rest seemed to be congregating at various points around the dinner area chatting with each other.
A. E. B.
We really like it here. The staff are so lovely and it is always nice to have lunch or dinner here. There is even a breakfast menu. The desserts on offer are really special and the carvery is as good as anywhere at these prices. All round it is just an excellent place to eat and be with family, even when it get busy.
k. f.
Good carvery and friendly service.
D. E. S. A.
Very good food and Nice atmosphère. Thank you for this good moment. 😉
M. W.
As others have said it's perhaps more quantity than quality. However I'm not going to knock it, carvery was OK some veg a little over cooked but plenty of it. You get large portions on the main menu too. Considering it was busy, as it was Mother's Day evening, the staff were attentive. All in all not a bad place for a less expensive meal out.
P. S.
The staff are friendly and the food always looks presentable. Have always had a good meal there.
J. F.
Great place great food staff very pleasant
P. M.
First visit, good food and great value. Not exactly fine dining but I will definitely go again. Full menu as well as the carvery. Desserts look enormous but too much for me. Nice ambience with different dining areas to suit your requirements.
A. P.
This place, as a carvery, is a cut above the rest! More veggies than you can shake a stick at and four different meats to choose from. It's all tasty and tender and plentiful and then the desserts are amazing! The staff are friendly, for the most part and very understanding. Plus there is an ice cream scoop shop with wonderful flavours! 😍
S. W.
Friendly staff and had a warm welcome. We had a large carvery. The meat was cut super thin it was see through and not much was put on the plate. The Yorkshire pudding tasted stale. I was so disappointed with it. The rest of the potatoes and vegetables were actually very good and tasty and the gravy was lovely. I don't think I'll be rushing back here sadly.
L. P.
Nice, friendly staff quick service and value for money.
K. A.
Carvery meat selection is very good but the choice and taste of the vegetables is disappointing, they often have a strange tang as though they've been frozen and cooked more than once. Staff are friendly and helpful. The dessert menu is vast but quantity rather than quality is a common trend. The ice cream on display looks vastly glamorised compared to what is actually served. For a casual lunch or dinner this is a very good place to visit.
A. O.
Dinner was lovely. However, Guinness smelled like lager (manager agreed) and apple pie was obviously reheated in microwave as pastry was soft and hard to cut with a spoon! Staff are very friendly and happy to please customer though. Despite the Guinness and pie we will be back.
m. c.
Very welcoming, staff professional, place clean, covid-29 compliant. Food was very filling and on a whole tasted nice. One small point my Tex-mex burger l thought was a little bit hard.
C. “. P.
Unfortunately can't give it 5 as the scrambled egg was very watery and the bacon and sausages were undercooked but apart from that experience was good and the staff very pleasant and helpful.
D. A.
OK, cheap and cheerful. Value for money eating out.
J. C.
I do like it here. A guilty pleasure sometimes. Great family place where the kids can play on the xbox and touch screens whilst you sit. They have a children's event every Tuesday. A good carvery with lots to chose from. Great value breakfast with a buffet style unlimited toast and tea. Defo recommend that like a cheap cheerful good simple meal
S. S.
My husband and I went here for breakfast this morning. He had a lovely cooked breakfast and had no complaints. I however, asked for porridge. When it was brought out it looked like a few lumps in the middle of a moat of milk. Yuck! I asked the waiter if he could take it back because I couldn't eat/drink it. He came back after and said "That's how we do it here and if we do you some more it will be just the same". These words, I believe were straight from the 'chefs' mouth. I asked if I could have something else and chose pancakes, instead. They were lovely. I'm glad the 'chef' didn't actually make them though. Who knows what they'd have looked like. If you do go here for breakfast, please avoid the porridge.
K. B.
Was very friendly, and good food roast potatoes were nice and brown and delicious. Only down comment would be the meat was cut very thin, but again delicious cooked perfectly. We go to a lot of Green field inns for the roast dinners, and find them very good food.
J. P.
Good quality Sunday lunch carvery; you can eat as much or as little as you like, and I like! The staff were very accommodating for our large group and we all thought that we got value for money.
Y. N.
The staff are LOVELY - helpful and friendly. We reserved a table online last week, as we heard it gets really busy and received a call for confirmation. A shout-out to Kerisha who was serving us, explained everything (for the carvery). Our table was clean when we sat down and not sticky at all. (I have an ongoing issue with sticky tables in the UK). The food was very fresh, I had the vegetarian option for the carvery and if you are not too hungry, I would recommend a small not standard plate. Desserts are great hot and cold as, we done a sharing round on the table. Prices reasonable for cheap family eats.
D. W.
Had the carvery everything very good and cooked very well except the roast potatoes which were slightly underdone needed longer in oven
M. T.
This was only my second visit to this carvery restaurant and what a pleasant surprise. From the second we entered the restaurant, we were met by a server called Mel and we went to get our food. Wow, the selection of four meats and seasonal veg looked tasty but in fact this has got to be the best food we have tasted in any carvery. All I can add to my review is to keep up this excellent standard which most don’t mach up to
L. L.
Very well organised and covid secure with lots of sanitising stations dotted around. Everyone has to sign in, either with the QR code or via the app. Ordering can be done via the app, and everything is brought to you. You are told when it is your turn to visit the carvery I order to maintain social distancing. The carvery is served to you and then your plate is taken to your table. There is plenty of space between tables. It is a good idea to book in advance. Poppy field farm manged to to a feeling of normality while maintaining social distancing and following covid rules and regulations, I was very impressed, well done to all staff.
C. C.
Lovely ultimate big Sunday lunch Carvery
d. g.
me and my family had the buffet breakfast, very nice food and plenty of choice , friendly helpful staff ,lots of easy parking and a fair price for what you got 10/10
E. S.
1 st time and was very nice to read they make great food for all diets from starters to the desserts. Very polite service from the bar to the table .food was very good and plenty on your plate cooked to perfection. Ale to wine and soft drinks did not let me down.
R. E.
It was a very busy Evening in there, tonight. We had to wait longer, than hoped, but the food was extremely good and tasty. Because of the delay, we were refunded the amount of money that we had paid. A very nice gesture indeed. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. Yes, we definitely can recommend the place for good food and and enjoyable evening. A big Thank you 😊
K. T.
Value for money is good. But food isn't the best. Found the vegetables on the carvery to be very bland.
D. C.
So good to be at poppy fields, staff this morning were amazing. Coffee was perfect and my toast and Jam tasted lush. Every staff member were all happy to be back in work. Very good booking system with track and trace. distancing was at its best.
S. S.
My favourite roast meal, naughty desserts.
W. H.
Lovely food staff very helpful bring drinks to the table due to me being in a wheelchair
R. S.
Good choice of meat and vegetables on the Carvery, Staff all very friendly and helpful. There was plenty of people on, but the service on the bar and ordering points was a little slow. Hopefully this will improve once all the new staff are fully up to speed.
M. Y.
Good food at an excellent price. First time I went I had a small plate of carvery - you can have a little bit of each meat and then stack your plate with various sides. Breakfast was my favourite though with the buffet going at £2.99, really like my hash browns with bacon and a sunny side-up!
S. C.
The meat is nice, but vegetables not that great.
J. L.
Yes. Useful place to know. Large pub with a good carvery. Sensible prices and varied menu. If you're into puddings this place is for you. If you're on a diet, you probably should avoid it. Good accessibility and car park. Quite busy at the weekend. Well priced breakfast deals.
T. A.
First time i have visited the Poppy Field. Staff were very welcoming & i felt very safe. Good covid 19 procedures in place.
The food was lovely & we didnt wait long for it to arrive.
I will definitely be returning very soon.
L. H.
A very big pub, it can accommodate a lot of diners. The staff are very helpful but the carvery was not the best l have had. As a vegetarian, l had the peppered mushroom pie with vegetables from the carvery. The vegetables were of an average standard and the pie was a challenge. The pastry was so hard, l could not get my knife into it and the filling was lacking and salty. My fellow diner had the carvery too but went for the turkey, which was plentiful and nice. Maybe if we visit again, we will order from the main menu and miss the carvery.
s. w.
There was 2 of us and we were greeted and seated very politely and friendly. It was explained how you have to order. It was 12.30 pm on a sunday lunch and my companion ordered the cheese and ham salad. Unfortunately the ham was not ready so they did offer extra cheese and salad, but no discount. I ordered the beef casserole dish which I was very disappointed with. The beef was excellent, no fat, but the flavour was extremely bland. It does need far more flavour in. Overall a very nice visit. Staff professional and friendly. Perhaps some more organisation and creativity in the kitchen.
M. S.
Very clean, very good food and prices
S. H.
I have been here many times. The staff are very helpful. I was a little disappointed to find that there was only 2 meats on the carvery at 6.30pm today instead of 3 meats. I was with friends. The meals were all good and hot and the cakes are lovely as well. Poppy fields is very welcoming and clean. They also have live entertainment on a Friday for children for example spiderman was there back in May. I would of given 5* only for the carvery only having two choices .
M. H.
I had a carvery. Not great today. Been here before and it was much better. They only had dry brussel sprouts and carrots as veg, and something that looked like creamy cauliflower. Meat was nice but everything else was dry and Luke warm. Think it was because it was quiet and had been sitting there for a while.
S. A.
Very delicious food, big portions also friendly and polite staff
B. B.
Have been a few times but the last 3 times weren't great. My parents decided to take me and my daughter there today to get me out for abit and I must admit this was the best carvery I have had there. Meat was juicy potatoes tasty staff were nice, my only criticism was the Brussels sprouts were like bullets but apart from that we really enjoyed it thanks
J. R.
Good food, quick delivery, reasoble price's.
Nice selection of drinks, meal option's bar food, carvery and amazing cakes and deserts.
The staff are friendly and efficient and nothing seemed to be too much trouble.
The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed and there wasn't a lot of loud music meaning that you have to shout to the bar staff or accross the table.
P. J.
Very nice food at this pub restaurant. Reasonable prices as well. Usual pub grub served from the friendly staff. Ideal for evening meals just to get out and enjoy something different. We've been a few times and always enjoy it. It always seems pretty busy but there's plenty of room inside. Plenty of parking always helps too.
G. C.
Great experience from start to finish. All covid regulations adhered to, friendly staff, delicious food. Definitely worth a return visit
D. L.
The food depends on the chef of the day some are so tight with the meat you'd think they were paying for it. Unfortunately the cakes on display while looking amazing sadly do not live up to there looks the ratio of cheesecake to biscuit is all wrong greasy claggy and far to sweet(even for me)and all the cakes dry(shame)but at least it stops me being naughty
P. O.
Food portions are great and so is the carvery. However the burgers need sorting. First time the bacon was like it had been dried out all day and the second time the burger was rubbery. Very good otherwise
B. H.
Just had my grandsons 5th birthday here and I have to say it was amazing. Lovely food especially the carvery which 7 of us had. The hospitality from our young waiter was outstanding. Thank you very much for a lovely evening.
T. O.
I have been here twice now and both times on a Sunday afternoon. Our food has been hot, served quickly and has been good for the price. This place isn't ala carte and you shouldn't expect too much for what you are actually paying. Some things haven't been great as in the roasties were not crispy, green beans a bit squeaky on the teeth but i wasn't expecting perfection anyway. It was edible and satisfied my hunger we will return.
S. T.
Really good price however food is average. Avoid eating late breakfast buffet as food is dry and overcooked. Avoid deserts too huge portions but below average quality. On the plus side arrive early for the buffet food is good, also has a good children's indoor play area
A. G.
Had a carvery here and was very nice. It was my mum's birthday and we took the kids. My brother and dad ordered off the menu and received their meals in good time. Overall very nice.
M. B.
Staff here are amazing an reason for the higher score. They are friendly and did everything they could help. Unfortunately the food was very disappointing. The meats were full of fat, roast potatoes were soggy and soft, cauliflower cheese was hard, stuffing was dry and gravey was watered down to no flavour. Only decent item was yorkshire pudding. In my option was not a decent carvery. They do have family seating area with play activities to keep the kids amused which was good.
A. H.
Fantastic food and there's a separate section for families with children 👍 I will be going back soon
Z.
Has so much potential..puddings are amazing.... but most if the items for the carvery needed cooking a little longer
N. R.
Great food an staff very helpful recommend a visit
J. B.
Lovely food, well run, would go back again.
R. R.
Big place with lots of seating. Food is ok. Cakes are overpriced. Nice for a family meal on a budget. Kids area is ok could do with a gate so you know your little ones can't wonder off. Staff are nice but slow service on the bar.
c. j.
Food is OK, kids ate for 1.00 so was a good deal plus play area gives us a break lol
S. G.
Lovely place easy to find. My daughter took me there for my birthday to try out their large cakes. Only 4.99 for a large piece of cake and a pot of tea or a coffee. they supply a box for you to take the remainder of the cake home to eat later.
P. C.
Nice meal reasonably priced
K. L.
Last 3 visits here have been great after a first awful experience. The cake is not to be missed and the carvery is delicious. The all day breakfast looked pretty yummy too!
A. B.
Improve consistency of standards. The first time we visited we rated the meal five. This time many of the items were overcooked. It is this lack of consistency that plagues many carvery restaurants in our experience.
F. T.
This is such a lovely pub...large spacious inside and plenty of seating outside..loads of parking with disabled bays outside the front doors...staff always helpful and friendly....
My only negative is that they need to learn how to make a crumble..hardly any of it and like very fine crumbs.
But loving their doggy water stations made from beer kegs outside.😍
G. C.
First visit - obviously very popular: food plentiful & service good, play areas for children, clean toilets, value for money ...but SO busy, and noisy. Great for family reunions but if you want a quiet Sunday lunch this wouldn't be the best place.
D. H.
I thought we would give it a try and wasn't disappointed. Nice that you get a choice of plate size for the carvery. Carvery was excellent. Lovely selection of meat and veg. No complaints from me. Highly recommend.
P. B.
Friendly staff, good prices. However food is not good despite other reviews.
A. S.
Excellent! Friendly staff. Well organised for social distancing. Food was very good...had the carvery which is now served... plenty of choice! Well done!
D. D.
Very nice inside, good seating. Play area for kids.
Buffet breakfast delicious. Very large car park.
D. P.
Very nice food here but inevitably takes a long time to get served and the layout inside leads to a scrum forming instead of a queue which often obstructs access to the bar and around the building.
Is divided into family and adult only seating but this isn't well advertised and if you queue for a table at the wrong side you're sent away to queue again elsewhere rather than just seating you in the appropriate area. Don't see why separate queues are even required, why not just seat according to preference from a single queue?
B.
Great service and excellent carvery. Good value for money.
D. W.
Can't fault this place. Good food, carvery well! Lots of different vegetables and tasty food..Quick service. Always staff about to help. Party of 12 no problem for them
C. C.
Fairly decent breakfast buffet if you want to eat quick and don't want to hang around. Main disappoint is there is free tea and coffee but no drink alternatives for children or someone who doesn't drink tea or coffee (a juice would have been nice).

Nice for a family meal out, very popular place. Mid-week is way less hectic than a Sunday so I would recommend booking in advance
Some of the staff seemed to confuse Vegan options with Gluten Free which was a worry for my partner
H. P.
Very busy. Had to wait half an hour to sit down at a table then had a long queue to order the food once sat down. The carvery was lovely once we got it though. The best time to try this place I would say is sometime in the week when most people are at work
J. C.
Booked for an evening meal with kids but the whole area for the families felt more like a low end theme park. To noisy and kids running around unsupervised by their xxxxx parents.xxxxx
Carvery was very good however especially the meat on offer.
S. E.
Had a lovely unhurried meal today with all the family. Great service and food.

Great place for Sunday breakfast!
Took my girls and they really enjoyed as well. X

Been to have a carvery for the first time, our waitress, Harriet welcomed my mum and myself with a warm friendly smile and nothing was to much trouble - service was excellent despite it being very busy - she went out of her way to help, very obliging and a plesant lady - this is something alot of places lack. Harriet is a great asset to your business. We most certainly will come back again as the food was rather good too 👍

Good budget pub and restaurant/ carvery

There is a large variety of food, and the food is ok. However, the meat had too much fat.

As always a nice visit. The carvery was fantastic as always and staff were friendly and more than happy to help. Have been here many times and only ever had good service and friendly welcome
M.
Lovely welcome and great food. I recommend the cakes
J. P.
Lovely food and good value. Nice friendly staff and set out well so that you haven't got loads of tables together. Little nooks where they place 8 or so tables.
E. M.
Pleasant staff. Generous amount of food served. Good menu. Only thing is that there were no clear food allergy options and gluten free options were not highlighted. But overall a lovely place to dine.
S. D.
Carvery looked liked it had been out for sometime. The cakes look amazing in the window cabinet but when you're served it, they taste dry and stale.
Staff however are amazing.
T. R.
Disappointed with carvery. Beef tough & chewy, I had to leave it, veg undercooked, cauliflower cheese sauce & gravy very thin & runny. Roast potatoes not of a high standard. Staff were lovely & dessert was superb!
J. D. B.
Found this place while walking home from an appointment near by. Didn't know the area but wanted to find a toddler friendly place with a nice atmosphere and good food and that's exactly what we found. There's a large play area for children and an amazing carvery with 3 plate sizes to choose from. The CakeAway looked great too with the Halloween themed cakes.
A. J.
Brilliant. We had a group booking of 26 and the staff was excellent. The restaurant was very busy be we all got looked after very well. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant. Well done and thank you 😀.
P. H.
The service was excellent but the food wasn't up to scratch. The meat on the carvery was very hot and fresh but the veg was not very good. It had clearly been out a while. Don't think I will go back.
L. L.
Service was good starters lovely carvery not so great🤢 had to wait for mash cauliflour cheese and cabbage and all veg was rock solid🤢 dessert was lovely would go back but not have carvery would pick something from main menu
O. S.
We visited this place for the first time. The food was OK other than the cheesecake of the day, which was an odd texture and flavour. Our main courses arrived in good time but we then had to wait a while for our desserts as the till had broken. Also lamb shank was off the menu, and they had run out of mushrooms so we were given compensatory onion rings instead. We were then given a fork to eat a dessert with cream, so had to ask for a spoon. The waitresses described what they brought to the table differently to in the menu - like saying chocolate fudge cake when we ordered a brownie. Other than that it was OK.

Lovely food, amazing puddings, classic friendly pub atmosphere and an all round good quality experience! Carvery that I had was very nice and a good value for money, would recommend even if only to try the wide range of over sized desserts available!
J. G.
Visted yet again very, very nice food we go about 1600 to 1630 on a Friday night have had quite a few of the meals over the vists not had a bad one. Lots of choice of veg with the carvery meats very good as well. Steaks very well cooked
m. j.
Excellent quality food good portions

Pleasant staff. Generous amount of food served. Good menu. Only thing is that there were no clear food allergy options and gluten free options were not highlighted. But overall a lovely place to dine.

Been with friends today. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Food was amazing. Keep up the good work
K. B.
Was very friendly, and good food roast potatoes were nice and brown and delicious. Only down comment would be the meat was cut very thin, but again delicious cooked perfectly. We go to a lot of Green field inns for the roast dinners, and find them very good food.
M. J.
Good family pub grub
P. C.
Large, family friendly restaurant with plenty of space and tables. You have find a table and order from the bar. We ordered a child's Carvery and three meals from the menu. The Carvery was very nice with plenty of choice and the other mains …

1st time going hear and the welcome was very polite and happy with smiles all the time food came out just as we were coming back with our carvery. The cakes are amazing and love the fact that you can take them home and eat later if you are full up from their amazing food thanks for a great 1st time we will be coming back
A. O.
Excellent atmosphere and great food. Pop in on the of chance as it was a very busy lunchtime. Seating was slow, which as no one on the desks. When seated I asked for food to be clear under the table.the waitress wad amazing nothing to much. …

My local whenever I'm in Northampton
N. C. (.
Foods is pretty good and staff are friendly. Very busy and not enough bar staff/ tills so often have to wait a while. Aircon only in one area so can also get too hot in the summer.
S. W.
Conveniently large family chain pub in an area that doesn't have many restaurants due to sixfields nearby. Clean and well presented, has indoor play area. No outdoor play. Carvery looks well stocked but not sure about quality of veggie options, but there are some.
M. N.
Had a lovely evening. Staff couldn't do enough for us and we're very friendly. Food excellent and would definitely recommend this place . Thankyou for making my sisters birthday special. X
K. S.
Good food, great staff, but half the items in the play area don't work and are still turned on with lights flashing, they swallow your money, then you can't get your money back (they give you little toys instead, but still!). It's a nice place to visit, very family oriented so not one to go to if you don't have children with you.
A. W.
The food is good and reasonably priced. Being towards the end of the day, there was a limited choice of meat and the beef I chose was the end of the joint and had a lot of gristle. However the vegetables were plentiful and a good selection.
A. C.
Service was good, staff friendly, and the food (I had coated chicken from the main menu) was pretty good too. I'd need a second visit for a proper review. I would happily go again.
L. B.
Food was excellent as always. Staff very helpful and friendly. Always a pleasure to eat there.
L. E.
The meals are good you can choose from a range of dishes a carvery to vegan, the service is good and the staff are very friendly, i would recommend this restaurant and a plus you can get takeaway which i found impressive I'm going on 23rd November for a meal with a party of 23for a birthday meal
K. C.
Lovely food and staff! Loads of options to chose from! Recommend!
J. G.
Lovely? Nicely set out, good stock of beers nice and cold
Staff very pleasant
Will deinayely call in again for a beer with my son
M. C.
Good food, good prices and very slow staff.
It takes 20-25 minutes to staff to bring you a menu!!! I should give 1 star
R. B.
I had my birthday meal here, and it was the best experience! Minus the fact that one of the bus boys noticed that we had our spoon, literally seconds before finishing and claiming our cake, TO STOP US AND TAKE THE SPOON:(
W. E.
Very nice place, welcoming and friendly staff and atmosphere. Had a mains burger of the menu and a carvery, both hot and tasty. Service excellent. Will go back again
T. C.
Good carvery, but a little skimpy on the meat... Overall good value for money. Restaurant was clean and well presented. Looked after well by waitress.
L. E.
The food was lovely as was the staff. The main criticism is the lack of staff. For a Boxing Day the ones working were rushed off their feet. Three and a quarter hours we were there because as I say there wasn't the staff to cover everything. Management need to look into and adrdress. Thank you to those that were there.

Friday 2nd February 2018. We had our first experience at Poppy Field Farm. Whilst celebrating a family Birthday. We prebooked our table for 8 Adults. For 7.30pm , 4 of us went for the Carvery option and the other 4 chose from the menu. The Carvery selection that was left looked slightly dry, but tasted ok. Desserts looked amazing on display, but sadly didn't have the option that I really wanted.
M. L.
Good food at a reasonable price for boxing day. For a carvery it's very good. One of the better ones I've been to. Perhaps more of a "non meat" selection would be an improvement
H. R.
Only just moved to Northampton so this was my first visit to Poppy Field Farm.
Had carvery which I enjoyed so much but would like to have tried the apple pie but it was not to be as it was in the oven, maybe next time. It wasnt too busy but found this to our advantage. Maybe 5 stars when I get my apple pie!
m. l.
Very nice lots of parking brilliant
R. C.
Good pub grub at really decent prices. There's a small play area for children too
K. H.
We went for a family dinner for my mother in laws 80th and had a great time. Foods very reasonable and you get a lot, drinks are reasonably priced and we had excellent service. Definitely recommend
R. N.
Best carvery in Northampton. The meat is always cooked to perfection - even the beef, which in other places is often undercooked and chewy. Good range of vegetables and salad. Homecooked cakes, puddings or mountains of ice cream for afters. Very reasonable prices and friendly staff.
A.
Good food and staff where friendly. Veg was hard which isn't my preference otherwise all good.
H. E.
There was a good atmosphere, the staff were friendly, fast service and the food was really good. I didn't manage to eat all of mine as there was so much! They don't scrimp on portions!
b. t.
Was quite busy when we went but got seated OK. Service was good and food was good. 6 of us with all different meals and no complaints. Prices were fair
D. D.
It's a pub carvery, so don't expect fine dining. The food was ok, as was the service, but nothing special. The big thing there is oversized desserts, so save some room if you have a sweet tooth!
G. P.
Ridiculously cheap for what you get. Quantity 100% quality 95%.
I'm probably being over critical about the bbq source on the burger. Staff very friendly. Nice for a family meal
P. P.
Good food at value for money prices. Family area is a great idea. Can get very busy but staff try as n much as they can to get you sat and served asap. Would recommend it for families
J. H.
Staff so lovely here, especially Paula who waited on our table and the man overseeing the carvery.
M. W.
Great food. We had the breakfast and it was very filling. Loved it. Can't wait to go back again
T. L.
Good location and great food. It was pretty quiet when we went but the carvery was good quality and the atmosphere was pleasant. I'd go here again
D. C.
Always made to feel welcome and food from carvery is well worth queuing for on a sunday! Of course there is the dessert fridge too full of the best cheesecakes...ever.
A. D.
I love eating here, apart from the fact that the food is really good, the staff go above and beyond to make sure you feel welcome and well looked after. I would highly recommend :)
A. J.
Food is decent but the bar staff on the day was rude and abrupt also need to change menu that Breakfast Buffet is one visit only! And need to provide fruit juice for children as how many kids drink tea or coffee
S. W.
Another pleasant evening, food good quality and fairly priced, drinks not too bad, take a desert home, good value for the size of them. One of the better pub chains,an area for children but it is possible to get away from it. Worth a visit
R. T.
Had the carvery was good value for the money the beef was nice and tender with more vegetables than you can ut on your plate so portions are big staff were friendly and polite.
B. G.
Great value and tasty food, particularly the carvery. Friendly staff and kid friendly atmosphere with some great play areas. Cakes looked amazing but we were too full!
A. W.
Friendly service the food extra more than Toby carvery. The food overcooked. I afraid they learn from mistakes to improve customers come to their restaurant. Next time they will improve their food.
J. D. (.
Was really busy Saturday however made quick getting us seated. generous amounts of meat on carvery and waiting staff were excellent. really great place beats out Toby by miles
M. J.
Very enjoyable meal. Was 12 of us 7years to 84yrs and all said they had a wonderful time. Food and staff excellent. Would recommend.
C. P.
Very nice, good quality food. Great staff.
J. A.
TOP MARKS. I love going to Poppyfields its definately the best & most delicious carvery in Northampton. To top that they offer a Superb dessert menu, all cakes are made in house which are hugely extravagant and totally melt in the mouth. The service is great with super friendly staff. Very good value for money and have never been disappointed yet. They also has an indoor kids play area and outdoor seating although to be honest it would be nicer to have a proper garden with an outdoor play area as it can get very stuffy inside.
R. F.
Very welcoming, nice staff. Four of us had the carvery, one had chicken dinner. £37 drinks extra. A good deal. Food excellent.
L. B.
Exceptional staff. Lovely food and good drink. Prices are more than reasonable. Nice venue and layout
V. B.
The food was average, had to send the corn on the cob back as it was white from where it had dried out, (we think). The staff unfortunately were miserable not very welcoming and didn't seem to want to be there.
M. “.
Great meal deals on the carvery .... Kids size / small size / medium and ulitmate size! Amazing price, tho just keep in mind all sizes apart from ulitmate don't include a good old Yorkshire pudding.
K. M.
First time visiting Poppy Field Farm this evening it was very busy, which is understandable being new to the town and on a Saturday, we was told a 30-45 min wait which took over one hour, alot of people waiting around the sides of the restaurant for there pagers to vibrate to be seated... whilst waiting there where many empty tables some cleaned and some waiting to be cleaned that was empty for a long time. I feel there was a lack of communication between the waitresses and the staff that was trying to get people seated. As soon as a table is cleaned and available the waitresses need to inform seating staff. Maybe using some sort of technical device instead of by mouth and a white board. The set up is not as efficient as 'TOBY'. The food was ok the meat needed browning a little more so it didnt look like it was still alive. The best part is the cakes icecream and small play area for the little ones. I would come back again, staff lovely! Give it a go then Give it a chance! We all have to start somewhere.
A. L.
Extremely Busy Friday lunch time, the staff were cool, calm and collected. The meals were brought out without delay, Great service! Great value for money!
M. S.
Excellent service, very good carvery... highly recommended
F. P.
Apart from the wait to get the carvery which needs to be looked at... the food and staff were very good. I had meat and then the carvery salad and it was beautiful. When I'm back in Northampton this is the place I'd like to come
m. g.
Went early so no wait for a table. Staff all very helpful & pub has a very relaxing atmosphere.
Had the carvery which for the price is very good & all had a "cakeaway" which are massive!
p. b.
It's a typical farmhouse inns pub, decent pub grub and a massive pudding, good social distancing inside, it was spotlessly clean. The staff are polite and helpful
A. B.
came for just for dessert as my friend told me the cakes were bigger than my head, and they were.
Still really nice to eat too, its not all style over substance.
P. P.
First in the area chain family food pub. Farm inns specialise in large dining areas, all day carvery alongside full menu, supersize cakes, and multi-choice sweet flavour ice cream counters. Service was very good.
D. W.
Nice place although they serve awful crumble eggs, food rather average. Deserts - don't get fooled by beautiful ice cream display, these are fake... quite good cakes though.
J. G.
Love it here and cakes to die for !
