Reviews of The Orangery
J. K.
We booked afternoon tea and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We were seated in a very grand room set out for dinning with immaculately cleaned tables, beautifully set with views looking out across the Abbey grounds. The food was presented stylishly and was a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach. Overall the facilities are well thought out with good access for wheels of any kind. The toilets although downstairs, do have a lift if needed, are well maintained and unisex. A very pleasant afternoon was had and we look forward to going again, soon I hope.

Have been a couple of times for brunch here now and both times have had lovely food. The staff are friendly and there if you need them but not constantly in your face. The food was lovely on both occasions - had something different each time. Overall a very pleasant experience and can't wait to come back.

We had a lovely afternoon tea. The sandwiches and cakes were good. There was one small scone each we both felt they should have been bigger. Service was good.

Lovely afternoon tea, slightly unbalanced to the sweet side.

Breath taking view of the grounds from the cafe. It was a Sunday afternoon and it was fairly crowded. Did not have any problem with seating. Very baby and mummy friendly. Food is really very tasty. Portions are very good. Tasted very fresh. Overall the ambience is cosy. There are disable access bathrooms too. You can take a walk around the grounds after.

Amazing place for lunch, coffee,walk!!

Afternoon tea was lovely, especially if you were gluten free. Vegetarian option a bit lazy but main options were nice. Lots of food. Need to up their fruit tea game or if they have fruit tea, train the staff on their menu
E. K.
An amazing place to enjoy a cup of coffee with a friend.
I loved hot chocolate with marshmallows.

Lovely place to meet your friends, had nice mulled wine, scones were great, been there to see the house too, great variety, food , bar with good choice, nice countryside

Booked The Orangery for an afternoon tea too celebrate my mother's 90th birthday. The sandwich and selection of cakes could not be faulted. Staff were attentive looking after us superbly. Judging by the number of people in the room, this is, quite rightly a very popular venue. Everyone in our party was very impressed by the surroundings.
M. H.
Enjoyed a lovely breakfast. It was busy but the service was very good. Would go again.

We had an afternoon tea, which was very filling, well presented couldn't fault it. The staff are really friendly and helpful.
A. M.
I really liked here, lovely food, quite, not to badly priced, and a good selection of food and drinks, staff slow but friendly.

Afternoon tea was lovely, great service and excellent food, would highly recommend a visit.

Always a lovely experience visiting here. Great food, prompt service. The staff are friendly and approachable. Nothing is too much trouble.
We love it so much we booked Delapré Abbey for our wedding.
D. B.
What an amazing breakfast. Old style bacon. Real sausages. Artisan bread. Real butter. Rich scrambled egg. Deep dark n creamy flat white coffee. Utterly delicious n worth every penny.
H. H.
Took my friend for afternoon tea, which was delicious. Situated in Delapre Abbey it maintains its original charm. Beautiful views across the lawns and ancient trees towards the golf course. Waitresses attentive and very pleasant. Love the ambience here. What a lovely afternoon we had.
M. W.
Lovely place at the beautiful Delepre park. I had a lovely afternoon tea. They even had gluten free sandwiches and cakes that tasted delicious. They also serve a nice selection of wines.
S. T.
A lovely room with a view over the park. Can get noisy because of the high ceiling and unnecessary loud music
T. D.
had afternoon tea here for 16 people as the first part of a wedding event. Even the views from the windows were lovely - looking out over the park. Absolutely delicious food, the tea pots kept on coming, the staff couldn't have been nicer and room was beautiful. The pictures on line show wooden tables All the tables were covered in white linen with beautiful cutlery. Great choice of teas including fruit teas and everyone left feeling full. Well worth a visit, highly recommend and we will be returning soon.

Really nice little cafe, dog friendly and good service!
M. G.
Coffee was good! Carrot cake was a bit odd, with raisens, and was served a bit smashed to pieces... But it was good in the end
F.
Had a really lovely meal here one morning in between a long walk around the grounds.
The service was very pleasant. After ordering at the counter, we got served very quickly at our table.
We both had the specials that were up. Mine was the chicken club sandwich, the girlfriend had the smoked mackerel and asparagus salad.
N. B.
Beautiful place to come for a walk. Came for a family day out with the dog and young toddler. Sat outside despite the cold as we had the dog but we were well wrapped up! After we had explores, we had hot drinks and lunch at the café which was delicious! Brilliant trip and best of all parking is free!
V. B.
Really nice place to go either for a decent cup of coffee and a cake or for a afternoon tea. Staff are really friendly and welcoming highly recommend.
J. N.
Great little cafè great food and so much choice the staff were very helpful and polite great place to be to chill and taking the history of the building and views
M. C.
Wonderful place in a wonderful setting. Very stylish interior, lovely range of food on menu which also includes food for any vegan customers. Suitable for all customers of any age. Wonderful grounds to walk around. I was quite taken back by how this place had been so elegantly restored. Well worth a visit, especially on a sunny day.
A. o.
Been here a few times. Great quality food. I recommend the goats cheese salad.
H. C.
Food was quality and portions good sized. Sunday dinner excellent value in our opinion. Very friendly staff, went above and beyond for our large group booking. We all want to come back!

Had brunch yesterday morning at the Orangery with a friend.. Was really lovely.
Served by Dani, who was very attentive and friendly. A great experience.
T. H.
A lovely space in Castle Ashby grounds. The whole area is beautifully preserved maintained and presented with something for everyone. The café offers a wide range of well prepared and appetising food although is limited in its menu for anyone with special dietary needs. The facilities are good and staff are very friendly and helpful. Traded entry tickets bought on the day for an annual visitors pass so will definitely visit again.
S. M.
Afternoon tea for 70th birthday was brilliant, the staff were great the food delicious, would definitely recommend.
G. M.
Situated in the old Abbey in Delapre Park. Very popular with dog walkers. Can get busy at times. I find the venue a bit limited but nice all the same. I wouldn't say it was cheap but it is quite a nice spot and they have to make ends meet. So in general I'd recommend a visit.
A. I.
I can easily recommend this place as having the best breakfast in town. Some people can moan about the price, but once in a while it's well deserved. Don't hesitate, have a go. P.S the view makes you feel that you're not near town centre. That's a big bonus.
L. C.
Lovely afternoon tea. Booked a large table (14) easily. No issues on arrival and catered for food allergies well too. Great service. Lovely location. Great price too. Recommend.
J. B.
Was kinda disappointed by the outside seating area. Looked rundown. Tables weren't cleared or clean. Dog bowls empty. Litter. It could be so much more with just a little effort. It is supposed to be a restored stately manor.
C. W.
We visited the café for Sunday lunch, 26th November. We were seated in the Billiard Room at our reserved table. All the tables seemed to be reserved which was a good sign.
The menu is sensibly simple with two meat options and a nut roadt, which we chose. The food was tasty and hot with three generous bowls of vegetables. There are two puddings so we chose one each. Both were enjoyed.
The service was attentive, making us feel appreciated. The room is full of original details, as is the toilet!
We shall certainly book again.
B. G.
Lovely afternoon tea in a gorgeous setting
J. P.
This is the second time we have visited and found the same lack of price lists and long queues...
Staff friendly but clearly struggling to manage all the customers, service is slow and tables are filled. However they won't open the additional rooms to free up table space as they are only for people who've booked afternoon tea.
It feels like it's trying to be too many different things - a restaurant, an afternoon tea venue, a visitor cafe and a licensed bar - and as a result not getting the basics right.
Д. Х.
Now known as The Orangery, its clean and modern.
Sunday lunches are great, but you must reserve a table.
Well worth a visit.

In conjunction with the opening of Delapre Abbey as a visitor attraction the linked cafe is guaranteed a steady stream of customers. The room is a little on the spartan side, but that doesn't matter as the showcase here is the view of the undulating greenery of the parklands. Homely fayre would best sum up the Orangery's food offer. We had some appetising parsnip soup with generous hunks carved off a cottage loaf, while our friend had that trusty standard, a baked potato topped with chilli, which had definitely seen an oven rather than being pinged in a microwave. Despite the volume of visitors descending on Delapre for this momentous weekend (and let's not forget the years of wilful neglect from councils of both political persuasions that almost lost this rare piece of local heritage) the service was relatively unflustered. It's well worth paying the £7 entry to the house, but do also roam free in the peaceful grounds if you get the chance.
S. G.
Good breakfast and attentive staff in a nice setting. The sausages with the breakfast could do with cooking a little longer but otherwise a lovely dining experience.
M. R.
Poshed up Delapre Abbey tea rooms. Now looks like a garden centre cafe with prices to match. You can't have your drinks on the walled garden lawn anymore. Instead you either have to sit in the stuffy inside or bake in the sun on the tables outside which don't have umbrellas. Popular with the ladies who lunch brigade. Delapre Abbey park is still as lovely as ever.
M.
Fabulous bottomless brunch. Great drinks, fast service.
A. T.
