Reviews of Biddy's Kitchen
P. S.
Very friendly staff. Would advise booking in advance, we didn't but they were able to seat the two of us even though they were very busy. This also meant a little wait to be served but it gave us more time to decide what to order. The food was delicious and will have to go back to try something else from the menu.
d. M.
Want to say we had the fabulous time there and staff were so friendly especially one of them using sign language to communicate with us as we were both deaf. Afternoon tea were so lush and top quality. We will go back again soon
B. W.
Lovely tearoom with so many different tea options and incredible cakes which were beautifully presented.
A. H.
Great Selection of Tea's available with quick friendly service. Don't miss the great cakes and sausage rolls. Had to take extras home for pudding the next day!!!
J. B.
We are lucky enough to get a space without booking for food. I'd heard of Biddy's by enthusiastic friends but hadn't realised that this was it when I walked in after a long walk! What a delight. The food was just delicious, fresh and top quality. Staff are friendly and the quirky surroundings made for a real treat.
G. T.
What a find. Great atmosphere. Sausage roll and rose and raspberry cake were fabulous. So many lovely things to choose from! The staff were really helpful even though they were busy.
A. H.
Fantastic, cute and friendly tea room. Lots of yummy treats especially the delicious and rather big afternoon tea 👌 we'll worth a visit.
J. B.
Fabulous little gem just off the town square near the church. Very tasty quality food and drink. Dog friendly, great little outdoor courtyard, and quirky indoor decor. Homemade cakes and savouries all served with flair. Recommend the sausage and apple rolls, delicious 😋
J. A.
Loved this place, quirky decor and very lovely friendly staff. We had afternoon tea and it was lush, got talked into a massive cinnamon bun as my choice of cake and wow it was a stunningly scrummy thing about the size of my outstretched hand! And I do think the staff were even better, they just got on with it in a really kind engaging way.
S. P.
Lovely fruit scone and a shared pot of tea, and a lemon and lavender cream scone. Most of our tea drunk before the scones arrived and then charged for 2 cream teas! Everyone else given an 'oven glove' with the enamel teapot but us! Just not quite on point
T. T.
Cosy, quirky and rustic refinement. Bags of character and charm. The sum of all its parts feels like a celebration and ceremony of afternoon tea. The service was friendly and not overbearing letting us savour the moment. Best team room experience I've had.
L. a. D. R.
Lovely cakes. Service seemed a little slow, but they were going to the nearby shop to buy fresh ginger for my ginger tea, bless them. Really nice place.
C. B.
Lovely food very different all freshly made, staff very welcoming. Dog friendly. Atmosphere very nostalgic deco period
J. A.
I’ve wanted to try this tearoom for a while now and we finally had time to try it out! IT DEFINETLY LIVED UP TO MY EXPECTATIONS.
We had the high-tea which was the savoury choice and it was delicious and well priced. We hadn’t booked a table but we got seated straight away, we then ordered our food and received it very quickly with some delicious wild cherry black tea.
The decor was cosy, homely and quirky.
I’ll be visiting here again and trying some of their beautiful cakes and scones.
B. W.
Such a lovely place for a slice of cake and tea or the full afternoon tea. Absolutely delicious and great customer service. Very relaxing.
T. A.
Nice place. Nice staff.
Only fault is don't go here unless you have a sweet tooth. Every single sandwich etc has something sweet in it. No option for those who prefer savory.
Still pleasant!
Y. H.
Lovely mug of coffee with a free refill. Had a sweet potato roll, nice pastry and served with sweet chilli relish and side salad.
Lots of choices of different teas. Just one really nice coffee.
Friendly staff. Tables cleaned between customers
M. N.
We had afternoon tea which was brilliant, couldn't eat it all so took the salted caramel chocolate brownies home. Lovely staff, nice ambience, just lovely.
l. r.
I think buddy's kitchen in the market place is amazing and have really lovely staff and the tea there omg it's heaven and the scones and bakewells are sooooo yummy 😋 I go there a lot . Me and my boyfriend love going there
M. R.
2nd visit to Biddys, first was in Norwich and this time Aylsham.
Same excellent menu and very friendly service. Both times we were to full to eat the full afternoon tea and they kindly boxed up our cakes to take home with us.
A. W.
A gorgeous tea house tucked away in the corner of Aylsham Town Square. Friendly staff and gorgeous food! We had afternoon tea, the scone and cakes are massive! We love it and have been several times. Would thoroughly recommend it!
E. S.
I popped in for lunch and had a delicious cheese scone. The afternoon tea looks delightful, I plan on going for one very soon and the waitresses are lovely. Would definitely recommend 😁
D. P.
Wow what a little gem, usually so difficult to find a gluten free afternoon tea but the build your own element was fantastic and the brownie to die for, loved the choice of teas too, I went for Almond and would heartily recommend it. We will be back
G. B.
Lovely period tea room with plenty of old world charm, and friendly helpful staff.
P. B.
Had an unfortunately busy day, staff struggled to cope with orders seating, even ran out of mugs
But excellent venue and food and the staff do their best
R. C.
Just pop in for cupper and cake and wow it was lovely. The tea room had a wonderful feeling about it and there was a lovely Courtyard garden
J. B.
Just had afternoon tea here, truly amazing. And you can take your leftovers away with you. Cant wait to come back. Yummy 😘
R. C.
Amazing afternoon tea in a delightful setting. Sandwiches were the best I've eaten, the bread was so soft and delicious packed with filling. Massive slices of cake and all very reasonably priced.
P. W.
Great value, olde world tea shop. Tea excellent. Loads choices for tea types. Cakes and Scones all home-baked. Just like it's Norwich sister shop. Good reason to visit Aylsham.
P. M.
Came for afternoon tea on a Saturday afternoon. We had booked, so were taken directly to our table. There are a wide selection of teas and suggested mixes for you to try. It was very helpful to see which teas were suitable to enjoy with milk. The table we were at was awful - it was located in basically a dark hallway with a single naked bulb above it. People were constantly walking by to use the toilets. Seemed a table more suited to a glass of whiskey than an afternoon tea. You get to build your own tea - one sandwich, one scone, and one sweet/pastry. The food was mediocre. The sandwiches were ok, but the coleslaw served alongside was aggresively purple and tasteless. The scone was perhaps the worst of all (I had the classic plain). It was tasteless and basically felt like a lump of dough in my mouth. It was large, though (although it was so large that the amount of clotted cream served alongside was insufficient - it needed the moisture too). My brownie was ok, but my wife did not enjoy her millionaire's shortbread.
Overall, I think there have to be better options to an afternoon tea in Norfolk. It might be better in the summer when you can sit outside. It also may just have been our particular table that lent a negative spin - the rest of the restaurant seemed bright and lively.
A. G.
Huge choice of teas and gluten free cakes , lovely staff.
P. S.
Huge selection of tea enthusiastically served. Delicious cake. Try the Black vanilla tea! Warm and friendly on a cold January day.
S. W.
Such a selection of yummy food. Went for afternoon tea and came out so full. Doggy bag needed
L. G.
Lovely, warm and friendly place and the scones are to die for
J. N.
Cakes were amazing and loved the Norfolk earl grey tea with lavender
K. B.
Biddy's was a wonderful experience all round! The quality of the food you receive is phenomenal, the staff are so so friendly, and the place is gorgeous. A really affordable afternoon tea and by far the best I've ever had. Definitely will be coming here more often!
L. W.
Lovely little courtyard at the back. The coffee cake was amazing.
l. m.
Highly recommend Biddys Kitchen for afternoon tea. Fabulous food, great service. They even put a candle on the cake for my daughters birthday. Will definitely be visiting again. Huge amounts to eat and even some to take home for later.
Thank you Biddys.
I. W.
Fantastic little tearoom just off the market square in Aylsham. Quite a quirky interior and that adds to the attraction. The cakes are absolutely fantastic - the only difficulty is choosing which one to have !. I also had one of the home made sausage rolls when I was there and it was amazing. Only reason that I have given 4 stars and not 5 is that service was a little disjointed - had to wait a bit too long and my coffee was finished before my sausage roll came. That might have been a one off but did see other tables that seemed to have some issues. Will still definitely go back if I'm in the area and probably go for one of the amazing looking afternoon teas !
S. L.
Excellent. Lovely big pots of tea with refills available. We were welcomed together with our dogs and that always gets a thumbs-up
S. S.
Lovely sandwich and coffee, the menu is confusing, we had to ask for help.
e. s.
Sandwiches were a poor experience as a single sandwich was cut into strips like fish fingers. The savoury scone was a disappointment, although the sweet version was satisfactory. All sweet selections were the best part of the experience. No Earl Grey tea available on this particular visit.
J. C.
They have about 20 or more different tea options, and a 3 tier cake experience it involves sandwich, a scone and a cake. Judging by our experience it's rare to finish all 3 tiers, my advice is bring food containers or ask for a to go bag
W. P.
Very quaint teashop. Food was lovely as was the service.
A. B.
Great place, nice coffee and great cakes. See you soon.
e. w.
Received a wonderful selection of lemon cupcakes for mothers day from my daughters. Delicious and so beautifully presented. Recently moved here and will certainly be visiting Biddy's tea rooms after lockdown !
G. H.
Oh how lovely to find a traditional , cosy, wonderful tea shop. Such a choice of teas and coffees. Cakes to die for. Biggest and best scones ever. We found Biddys when we holidayed in the area, pre covid. Just had to go back when we holidayed in the area again this year. Will return again and again and have recommended to family and friends.
S. T.
Wonderful afternoon tea. Fantastic sandwiches, yummy scones and delicious cakes friendly services. Highly recommended
S. N.
My sis brought me and my daughter for afternoon tea and it did not disappoint. A delicious array of sandwiches, pastries and scones, washed down with copious amounts of tea and coffee in cute china. Our favourite ever sarnie .... Goats cheese and sweet honey, cut with a fig relish and crunchy almonds for texture on granary bread....in a word DELICIOUS!! Will definitely be back 🥰
J. J.
Everything was perfect. Staff are lovely. Food is exceptional. Everything is clean. Just brilliant. Will be visiting again.
N. I.
Cosy little tea shop with a huge variety of tea flavours. Tea comes in huge teapots and refills are free too, so you can enjoy as much tea as you need. Food is good, with choices available for gluten free and vegan diets. Lots if fantastic sweet options - cakes and slices are very tasty (highly recommend the rocky road!), with lots to choose from so you can always try something new each visit. If you're in the area I would highly recommend.
P. W.
They have wonderful range of teas, but being a coffee drinker I do not enjoy the coffee. Food is lovely.
K. P.
Amazing food and service, I hope I am in the area again soon.
V. L.
Lovely environment, friendly service and delicious food and tea (hot sausage roll). What more could you ask for! Will definitely return to try more from their menu (including the wonderful looking cakes!!).
S. 8.
Amazing! Food, service, everything! Just lovely!
S. B.
Was here for vegan afternoon tea. Amazing. Savory roll was so good asked for recipe, but waitress would have to kill me. Close guarded secret. Cherry brownie was a yummy , the waitress Kindly told me vegan cinnamon swirls, have just come out of the oven. Got 2 not dissapointed, best I've ever had. Mmmm I'm dribbling talking about them
Only bad thing was called in Sunday 11 am Website said open? Closed so didn't get my Cinnamon swirl and cheese scone to bring home. Brilliant find for all
T. W.
More teas available than I've ever seen.
Courteously served.
Sandwich selection good and generous cake slices too.
Excellent.
I. J.
A tea room with a difference. Old world athmosphere, friendly service and great food..
D. P.
We have been here a couple of times before and very pleased. However, our latest visit resulted in a Victoria sponge which was as solid as s brick. We did report this and hope it was just a blip.
C. G.
A nice tea room in a pleasant location, had a very nice scone, jam & cream along with a cup of tea. The only down side was that there were no sandwiches available, as they had already run out by 1230 pm.
S. R.
Lovely afternoon tea. Every flavour of tea you can think of. Well worth the visit.
G. H.
A delightful place with excellent customer service. Cakes to delight and other snacks to enthrall the taste buds. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for stressfree refreshment.
C. M.
Whilst visiting family in the land that time forgot (Norfolk) my wife and I were invited to Biddy's kitchen for tea and cakes.
It does exactly what you would expect. Tea and cakes. The selection of teas is almost mind blowing, lovely though. The cakes are excellent and the decor and furnishings are quaint and expressive but not overdone.
If you ever find yourself lost and you wind up in Norfolk I would give it a try.
J. B.
Very odd customer service. Went in and asked if they had a table they said no as we hadn't booked. They suggested another tea shop over the road. When I pointed out two tables that were empty they reluctantly seated us. I then ordered two cream teas and was told we would wait 50 minutes as we hadn't booked and they "had a system". There were 13 tables and we counted 8 staff. I pointed out that it would take less than a minute to put 2 of the scones on the counter onto a plate... so they rather huffily did, we were served in 5 minutes. This very odd insistence that people book is irritating and unwelcoming. But the scones were good. Eventually.
M. L.
It had a quaint, warm feeling, but not so much so that it felt like a parody of village Britishness. The cakes were AMAZING, and the tea was plentiful (with a good range of choices.) Oh - and the music was comforting bluesy/Northern Souly mooch and hum along stuff - not so loud as to be intrusive. Service was excellent. Would definitely recommend.
S. L.
We visited the Alysham shop for first time for my for my sister-in- laws birthday. Food and service was first class. Sandwich, cake and scone (I had lavender) choice was excellent, we all came home with our cakes in box's as we were so full. Highly recommend.
C. K.
We go to the Aylsham branch as its all on one level. We love it there-you have to be hungry but you can always take yr cake/scone home with you. Lovely sams with cakes&scones that are to die for! My husband loved the builders tea, nice & strong-4cups out of the teapot. I had filter coffee which was nice. Booking essential so ur not disappointed. Parking is the only bugbear but still worth the effort! Excellent idea as a Xmas/b'day/thank you present.
D. P.
Quaint cafe - with great decor. Huge range of tea and coffee. Fantastic cakes and delicious cheese scones. Loved the antique chairs for sitting in - gave the place a cosy relaxed atmosphere.
A. C.
Very busy at lunchtime but not that you can't find a table. Cakes and scones were superb with a fantastic selection of teas.
Great atmosphere and delightful setting.
H. L.
Parking around the town a nightmare even if there are no events on. Interior purposely designed based on 1920s. Furniture tatty and uncomfortable. Crockery etc a mish mash of 'make dos'. Music too loud in some places in the dining area. Some food menu items very expensive. Beverages are a variety of 'fashionable' teas and coffees amongst other things.
On the plus side, staff very pleasant and helpful. The pot of tea excellent value for money.
B. F.
Hands down the best tea room I've been too, my girlfriend and I are frequent visitors, there is a large selection of teas and a great rotation of delicious cakes to try. I cannot recommend highly enough.
J. E.
Lovely atmosphere, fantastic food, very nice location too.
S. W.
Great service, great food. Down side cafe needs a good clean so dusty at the moment. Dust on the chairs, rails and books ect plus several cobwebs. If that's the cleanliness of the cafe makes me waunder about the cleanliness of the kitchen.
M. A.
I love Biddys Tea Rooms. Though i always find their cakes a bit fake tasting and dry. Their tray bakes eg brownies and millionaire shortbreads are well up there with the best ive tried 🤤
Space to sit is okay. Limited parking in Aylsham so arrive nice and early incase you don't find a space right away.
The staff are always super lovely too
D. B.
Had a Cappuccino here which was very good. Staff weren't very smiley and a bit off hand but we were in the middle of Pingdemic and I think they were a bit stressed.
D. W.
First impressions were a bit dull but the service and presentation brought back memories of grandma's days and I'm over 75 myself. I loved it. 😍
V. P.
Beautiful setting. Like stepping into another world or at least another time. Wish they did more coffee but understand its a tea room. Really love the decor in the bathroom with all the pennies.
J. B.
Great atmosphere, lovely food and good service - highly recommend
A. H.

Came here with son as he told me how good it was.
I couldn't drink all my tea as they gave me a massive pot of it!
Lovely tea/cakes & very friendly helpful staff :)
S. C.
Sadly the scones and the cake were dry. The sandwiches were delicious, as was the tea.
M. P.
Absolutely fabulous. Amazing sandwiches, fantastic cake and lovely coffee. Really nice location, lovely decor and nice atmosphere. I cant reccomend it highly enough xx
H. K.
Lovely afternoon tea with a nice selection of fresh teas to choose from. Very reasonably priced and the cakes and scones were great!
M. W.
Lovely atmosphere good selection of cakes and various teas...friendly staff
C. M.
Lovely setting & great afternoon tea. It's a shame that a business that advocates local still uses French jam despite being given a local Norfolk maker over 2 years ago. Support "Buy Local Norfolk"
A. G.
A lovely place with friendly & helpful staff nothing was too much trouble . The cakes were amazing & large portions .
R. E.
We had a lovely intimate cream tea. Nice ambiance. Great choices. Made very welcome. Thank you
C. A.
Lovely tea room which is dog friendly, I took my puppy for his first cafe experience and he was very welcome even when he wasn't behaving his best, cakes and scones are delicious
E. R.
This was the most incredible afternoon tea. I've never had one before and my daughter spoiled me. Tasty sandwiches, scrumptious scones and creamy cake. Xxxx
T. H.
Pleasant environment, and delicious cake. No savoury foods and no WiFi meaning the business meeting we tried to have was made somewhat inefficient.
C. S.
Excellent service and food, so nice to have a wide selection of gluten free options. Will be visiting again
K. K.
This place is amazing! Dog friendly... great choice of gluten free options available... portions more than adequate! We will be returning and highly recommend it.
J. B.
Love this tearoom, we have been a few times. Old fashion styled, always busy, u can book. Cakes scrumptious
j. h.
I had a lavender scone cream tea with lemon curd, delicious
S. B.
Love love love Biddys. Drive to Aylsham just for Biddy's but this trip we were dissapointed it appears they like the rest of Norfolk are having trouble either getting what they need from suppliers or just unable to keep up with the demand the glorious weather has created . It is a wonderful opportunity for Norfolk to create memories more in keeping with the south of France but it would appear everyone is having trouble just ensuring they have their stock in trade dishes.
E. D.
Absolutely mind blowing Cream Teas especially with huge pot of Builders Tea at reasonable prices. Sorry No photos.
D. C.
Great cup of tea amazing cheese scone
great selection of cakes.
Will be back

Fantastic cake and friendly staff though!
S. V.
Great service and excellent tea. The food also looks fantastic.
m. P.
Really quaint little tea room delicious food and lovely staff
J. C.
Lovely food, lovely helpful staff. But a bit dark, and vera lynn singing in the background is a little too much authenticity for my tastes.
A. R.
Cosy little place to have a warm drink. Only negative was they only serve filter coffee. Prefer barista machine coffee nowadays
M. T.
Our favourite tea room, with it's vintage feel and look and it's magnificent cakes.
K. D.
Excellent sandwiches, cake and a huge lovely selection of teas.
C. S.
Staff could have been move attentive, had to chase up our coffee refills, there where dirty table's when we went in which still hadn't been cleared when we left, and it wasn't even busy!
