Reviews of The Old Bakehouse Tea Room

Under new management since Sept 2021, the new proprietor Eve is pleasant and friendly. She bakes her own cakes and scones and runs the place with quiet efficiency. We had afternoon tea and the home-made scones were lovely. Highly recommend the place. Very nice atmosphere, good service and lovely location. Easy parking nearby and a beautiful historic church just steps away

This is a lovely little cafe with a fantastic ambiance. The menu is really good and typical of what you'd find in a tearoom like this.
The prices are good and reasonable and the quality of the food and drink is excellent making this tearoom really good value for money!
Although there is no car park; there are plenty of spaces on the surrounding streets and getting a spot is incredibly easy.
The staff are very friendly and engage in conversation.
All in all a lovely place to stop off and have a bite to eat and a drink!

Eve is a great host, always making you feel welcome and will adapt the menu to suit your needs 🤩

Perfect food & drink and service.
Was a bit too cold and dark and lack of atmosphere as not busy, so could do with a bit of background quiet music, bit more lightning (we thought it was closed from outside) and a bit more heat in there. Overall good though!

We loved it!! Really friendly staff, super tasty food and all in all a great atmosphere and beautifully decorated. Well done to all involved :)

Pretty little cafe in heart of Ruddington with tasty cakes and panninis. Only thing missing was a little background music as was slightly echoey with others talking around us.

Absolutely amazing!
We had the afternoon tea & the sandwiches were absolutely gorgeous made with beautiful bread and plenty of filling. Scones & cakes were delicious, lovely quaint place run by a friendly lady & nothing was too much trouble, little extras like crisps & and a bowl of salad made a pleasant change as normally these aren't ever on offer.
We will be regular visitors here from now on as we were blown away how fresh the sandwiches & scones were, been to expensive cafes/hotels and been given stale limp offerings with stingy fillings before but not here, a total joy.

What a wonderful find. The owner is lovely and helpful. I am gluten intolerant and vegetarian. But was still able to be catered for. Including having soya milk for my tea. The gluten free bread was soft too. Which was great. Would very much recommend

Great little find! We spent a lovely morning at Rushcliffe Park and came here for lunch afterwards. Really reasonable prices and very delicious food. We all had an extremely tasty cooked breakfast with our girls have a jacket potato with beans and cheese. Service was quick and friendly. We'll definitely be visiting again.

Cosy small village tearoom. Homemade cakes including Gluten free. Tasty afternoon tea served on quality china. Not wheelchair friendly but walking disabled could access all areas with care.

Just had afternoon tea here with my sister and daughter. The owner was an exceptional host. She made the entire experience wonderful and the food was fabulous. Will be visiting again soon with the hubby!

Very comfortable and in a lovely village. Good choices and good service. Really enjoyable and the food was good. Many such places bombard you with stodgy cakes and it becomes a chore. Not here. Would strongly recommend

This is a fabulous little cafe! The ambiance is sort of old school meets Great British Bake Off and the food is homemade, simple, and delicious.
I had a ham and cheese toastie and a piece of the Victoria sponge. The toastie was made with proper off-the-bone ham (not the reconstituted lunch meat), and was generous with the cheese. It came with some crisps and a salad. The cake was amazing. I had a hard time choosing which one I was going to have because there is a wide array displayed across the counter and in a display case. I think I'll have to go back for afternoon tea one day to sample some of the others.
There is no kids menu per se, but they were very accommodating with my 1 year old. There was a high chair available, and when we ordered him his own cheese toastie, we were offered pom bears for him instead of crisps. He was totally into those.

Best English breakfast in the UK... maybe even the world. No but seriously we travel all the way from South Leicestershire to eat here. Definitely recommend!

The staff are really helpful. The selection of plates is good with tasty desserts. It is a place where groups get together. The access is problematic for wheelchairs etc.

any place that seves good breakfast and lets me take my dog is a 5 star in my eyes

The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is because some of the crockery and cutlery was dirty.
