A. D. S. d. F.Great products, the apricot pastry and the victorian lemonade were amazing and the price was fair. And the staff is amazing too, they kept our luggage the whole day and didn't want a penny for such a big favour. They are very big hearted people and the incredible thing is that it seems absolutely natural and obvious to them. I was so positively surprised from them, in a world where everyone thinks only of taking profit, they just give the best to others. They are an example of good humanity. Thank you guys.
J. S.As sad as it was to see the previous café close during the pandemic, the Independent does some of the best grilled sandwiches and espresso drinks for the price anywhere in Oxford. Be careful, you may find yourself getting the grilled cheese like every day.
S. G.Positioned in a great location in the centre of Oxford, The Independent Cafe has a lovely inviting feel and simple, elegant decor. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and most of all, the coffee is amazing. If you're hungry there is the usual array of pastries as well as a range of tasty sourdough toasted sandwiches. A great find and well worth a visit. Highly recommended.

I ordered a bacon and fried egg Bap. The bacon and the bap were very good, but the egg seemed to have been prepared in a mould of some kind, thus removing the essential joy of a nicely basted egg.
But I would return and recommend it.
I. B.Beyond expectations - is it wheelchair friendly ( very rare in oxford :) ) The drinks come in these aesthetically pleasing cups. The food we tried was consistently good and worth what we paid for. However the coffee itself is not great at all. Cannot wait to come here more often for the atmosphere. It does not matter if you want to catch up with friends, get a post walk café or do some serious group studying this is the palace for it. The aesthetics inside are to die for, the noise levels are super low and the staff are just the most wonderful people you could meet !! It is located just across from the beautiful college grounds and just off the main street so it avoids the busy bustle .
A. N.Pretty good decaf but the real treat is the espresso. The brownies are nice and varied, definitely a good cup here.

Both products of excellent quality, prepared with care, profession and kindness. The perfect hunger breaker during a walk. One of the best flatwhites tried in Oxford. The coffee was full-bodied and not bitter, the oat milk light and well whipped. The porridge was delicious!
Their sandwiches were equally tempting! Can't wait to go back to try their menu and drinks.
Super fast and courteous staff despite the amount of customers at the moment. The view and the general atmosphere are wonderful, the right place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the High Street!

Ho avuto il piacere di prendere un flat-white al latte di avena e del porridge (vegano e gluten free) al cioccolato e sea-salt. Entrambi i prodotti di ottima qualità, preparati con accortezza, professione e gentilezza. Lo spezzafame perfetto durante una passeggiata. Uno dei migliori flatwhite provati a Oxford. Il caffè era corposo e affatto amaro, il latte di avena leggero e ben montato. Il porridge era delizioso!
I loro panini erano altrettanto invitanti! Non vedo l'ora di tornare per provare il loro menu e le loro bevande.
Personale super veloce e cortese nonostante la quanità di clienti al momento. La vista e l'atmosfera in generale sono meravigliose, il posto giusto per staccare dal chiasso di High Street!
