We were looking for a vegan breakfast place on our journey, this was a great find and meat breakfast also available. Two slices of toast with breakfast was a big bonus as I never feel one slice is enough! I like to eat it with all aspects of my breakfast! The scrambled tofu was a bit runny to my liking and quite strongly tasting of turmeric but a delicious vegan breakfast overall. The meat breakfast was my partner’s favourite of our weekend break for portion size and taste.

Had the garden breakfast (veggie) which was ok, nothing too memorable. Scenery is lovely with the view of the river beside it. Can also sit outside on a lovely warm day. Great customer service. Would go again but for the cakes and tea, and mainly due to the relaxed scenery and location.

I had my hen party here yesterday and we had afternoon tea. It was absolutely fantastic!! The food was amazing, the staff were so helpful, attentive and very friendly. One of my friends was unable to come as she had COVID so they kindly boxed up her afternoon for me to take away for her :)) Inside it is decorated beautifully inside, very me with hearts and pretty pink flowers everywhere!! Thank you so much for making it so enjoyable!! We will be coming back for definite :) xxx

Would highly recommend. My husband & I went for an Afternoon Tea date with bottomless drinks (the iced coffee was delicious!). Food was yummy & beautifully presented. The service was OUTSTANDING - we were made to feel SO welcome from the moment we arrived to leaving.

Had a lovely time here for my mum's 62nd birthday. Staff were friendly and helpful. We had the afternoon tea and there was options to cater for everyone from diary free to gluten-free. And my nieces loved the little touch of having their sandwiches shaped. The atmosphere was relaxing with the river out the front where you can go and feed the ducks and go on the peddle boats.

Afternoon tea was fabulous. The choices on the menu were immense and meant that each person can choose exactly what they wanted, rather than the usual vegetarian or meat option. Also, you can even amend the menu choices. So much food, we all came away with a 'doggy' bag! Lovely good, well presented. Very attentive staff. The location is ideal and the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. Highly recommended for any celebration. Well done to the owners and the manager. I couldn't have wished for anything better.

I have been here twice in the past few weeks and planning to go again so with family for afternoon tea. As a vegan I would like to say their food is amazing, a good few cakes,sandwiches and snacks to choose from. As well as offering a full vegan afternoon tea! Gorgeous restaurant right in the centre on town near the river, perfect places to sit outside in the sunshine ☀️. All the girls who worked their were so kind and helpful too. High recommend 🙂

Fantastic venue. Super sweet staff, lovely spot on the water and thoughtful decor. Menu is all encompassing for brunch or lunch (or enormous afternoon tea) and waiting staff can’t do enough for you. Went today as an impromptu lunch of 8 and were very well looked after. Well done 👏🏼

Food was great. Portions were bigger than expected. Probably the best afternoon tea that I have had. Reasonably priced compared to similar. Service was a little slow when I visited and tbh if the service had been a little more attentive I would have given a higher rating.

This place is cafe heaven if you are gluten or dairy free, vegan or veggie. Really friendly staff & very aware of food allergies and intolerances. Great range of gluten free cakes, gf bread available (and even a choice of white, brown or granary - first time I have ever been offered a choice!) Gf sausages available with their Garden breakfast (vegan or veggie versions available). Parking is at the Key Theatre & then a short walk. The cafe is attached to the theatre. Outside seating available.

We had the most wonderful afternoon tea at the chalkboard to celebrate the due date of my sister’s little baby. The setting really is beautiful - decor and surroundings are picture perfect and what a fabulous idea the build your own is. It enables you to really cater for what you fancy and not the standard cucumber and egg sandwiches however if those are what you fancy they are available. I thought it was a super touch the unlimited drinks option and for me this really makes the price a truly reasonable one. Andy and the team were attentive and personable snd made us feel incredible welcome. It made a special afternoon even better and baby must have thought so too… as Myah Rose Vertannes-Smith was born 12 hours later … which is excuse to return very soon 💓xx💓

Came here for breakfast and the setting was really lovely. It's located in the theatre it seems, and is right by the river so sitting outside is really idyllic. The service was friendly but we were waiting a little while. Initially we asked to sit inside as there were some really nice two seaters right by the edge, but we got sat on a four seater slap bang in the middle where it was busiest which was a shame. It may have been that those tables were reserved, but couldn't see one of the reserved signs on the tables. This was why we chose to move outside as the weather was nice anyway. We got there for about 11:30 but didn't get our order taken until just gone 12:00 so technically we were unable to order breakfast, but because we had been waiting the waitress said a concession could be made. The food came not too long after and it was all really tasty. The only thing that wasn't as nice were the scrambled egg as they were a bit tasteless and overdone, but imagine this was a lot that was leftover from earlier breakfast orders. All in all it was a really nice experience and would recommend to anyone in the area, particularly as it's so close to the car park.

Shared an anniversary afternoon tea here today with my husband. It was fab and only £15 per head! Just be warned that the cakes are not mini ones but full size slices! They very kindly give you a box to take home any cakes etc you're unable to eat though. I had a strawberry and kiwi fruit tea which was scummy and very refreshing. Would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone.

A real find. Pretty interior and nice riverside veiw. Menu is mainly light bites, sharing platters, and afternoon tea,. Platters are delicious, full of artisan products, and a far cry from the sharing platters in pub chains that consist of mass produced deep fried foods. Excellent selection of drinks too. What set this place apart even more was the truly excellent service of the 2 waitresses, Liv and Lauren; absolutely top class. Highly recommend and will definitely return.

Moored up on the Nene writing sight of the Chalkboard we decided to pop in and have some food in the evening. It was really lovely. The staff were great, very friendly. We had the platters, we ordered 2 for the two of us, asking for the gf bread /crackers. When they arrived they were full of delicious cheeses and meats. The bread was fine, which is always about as good as it can be when it's gf. About half way through we thought we had mistakenly ordered sharing platters and had food for 4..though when we asked these were meant for 1.. We asked for a box to take the rest away. A very nice visit, good food, lovely staff, all with a great view of the river..

Normally sit outside but as raining a member of staff found a table inside. It was mentioned the table was reserved from 3pm onwards which was fine as daughter was at dance lesson from 2.45 . Good value for money, 3 hot drinks , juice n homemade sausage roll just over £13 . Place was well busy with a nice atmosphere about it . Worth a visit !

Such a beautiful afternoon tea, lovely setting and amazing food. Was super shocked they had a full vegan range to choose from. The only thing I'd comment on is that they brought me cows milk for my tea, when I can't have dairy. But the lady changed it very quickly and apologised. Other than that, can't fault on anything. We came here last week for Afternoon Tea on our Mother's 86th Birthday 8.7.21. The staff were efficient and proffesional, yet friendly, patient and very kind, making our experience one to remember. Their service was fantastic, in fact second to none. We were made to feel very welcome on arrival, then felt relaxed in a wonderful atmosphere, within stunning surroundings of Willow trees. Most importantly we had a lovely afternoon, especially my Mother and we cannot thank the staff enough.

I was looking around for somewhere to host a bridal shower for my pregnant friend and even when first emailing to enquire about the booking, Hannah and Andy were amazing. So this is the second time I have been, the first time i just needed to zone out and chill. The chalkboard enabled me to sit and watch the world go by with cake and hot chocolate. The staff were knowledgeable of their products with lots of choice and wore the biggest smiles. The premises are bright airy and welcoming. I was lost in thought x Today was a special day for me (daughters a level results and uni acceptance) so one again revisited the chalkboard, they went above and beyond and upon hearing my daughters fab news they surprised her with a cake slate and a well done message. Priceless and touching. Jono the waiter is a brilliant temporary asset to the restaurant ( return g to uni himself soon) and will be missed until hopefully he returns in the holidays. Compliments to the chef Danni, and Hannah's smile in itself lit up the place. Nothing is to much trouble and every diner looked content. Well done, you seem to have ticked all the boxes for young, old and everyone in between. Thank you for making a great day better. D x

Our second visit here and we were not disappointed. Gorgeous food and hot drinks, even herbal infusions, which are essential for one of us. Personally we would like the hot food to last until 1pm, but this is a beautiful place to eat, chat and relax, overlooking the river. Staff and owners lovely.

So this was our discounted afternoon tea- one regular, one gluten free. As you can see, each tea could probably serve two or three! Absolute bargain in September as £5 off each. Still a great deal at regular price. Plenty of tasty gluten free and vegan options, with friendly staff.
