The Retro Cafe, refurbished and renamed. Still friendly, lovely fry-ups and great value. The only difference is that everything is fresh and new. Oh, and there's a bit more space now ("Covid-secure").

Great breakfasts all with names so gets confusing when they bring it out be prepared for a shock when they tell you the price lol I paid £15 for mine but it was the biggest they do and it beat me . Nice place though friendly staff shame its in the Mutant mile !

Located on Shirley High Street in Southampton, this cafe offers variations of the traditional English breakfast, as well as other traditional dishes. The food is always well prepared and cooked. The staff are always most welcoming. This is definitely a very good start to the day 😋

As the 5 sons the cafe has gained some sparkle, (upholstered) table service with warm welcomes and hot food, sit outside and take in the Shirley Cafe Society atmosphere! I said previously: "all you could want from a traditional cafe and not a greasy spoon in sight!" plus ça change. Regular haunt for me and "one son" (11)

A proper cafe run by proper people. The owner has aptly named it after being a father to 5 boys and plays on this with the range of breakfast sizes, named after his boys with the eldests name being the big breakfast challange! Alongside all the breakfast options is a great lunch menu, always freshly cooked and a large array of drinks, hot and cold! Sundays are roast days which come with a free dessert and also extensive gelato flavours which can be had as an ice cream alone or on cones, but better still on waffles and crepes, again all freshly served. A great cafe situated right on the busy high street so always be a friendly face to chat too!

Honesty... no fake, undeliverable standards here. Great food but then I always have a 'retro breakfast'. Piping hot food, clean plates, almost completely polished cutlery. Definitely no Bul***it or wise cracking kids. Fast paced relaxed atmosphere

Lots of character it stands up to its name with plenty of 80s decor and nods to the vespa scooter and the scene that came with it. Your likely to catch an episode of only fools and horses on the tele while eating. Can get busy and can be abit of a wait but the food is decent, the toilets, tables and cutlery are clean and the staff friendly

I'd love to give 🌟⭐⭐⭐⭐ but today was my second visit for the big breakfast and once again nothing on the plate was hot enough, serving hot food on cold plates is an absolute no no and even the toast wasn't hot.....£5.95 isn't a cheap meal but I'd pay it if it was served properly as treat occasionally
