Got back here for a full English after many years and breakfast it’s amazing as I remembered, the dining area is spacious and comfortable and give you beach theme vibes really pretty. Kate and her team outstanding service and smiles. I cannot recommend enough this gem in portswood high street!! Don’t miss it

I like this small cafe lounge but I have noticed that they serve smaller portion than before. The bread is hit and miss, sometimes very good quality crusty bread and other times very cheap bread.

AMAZING breakfast... cooked to perfection! The sausages tasted divine and the bacon and eggs brilliant too. The tea and coffee were lovely. I have to give a special mention to the gorgeous bread and garnish on the tomato- made it! A breakfast which was all about the flavour... much appreciated. Definitely recommend it and will certainly return again!

The owner & staff are all very friendly & attentive especially at times that we are all experience at the moment. Popped in for a quick cup of tea and what I saw I liked. The cafe is clean and tidy, the staff are polite and friendly. My cup of tea was well made and I was impressed by some of the food displayed. The breakfasts seem very popular and all types of breakfast are catered for - from fairly large to 'gut busting' to a version for slimmers. Great selection of sandwiches, rolls and bagels. Vegans and vegetarians are also catered for which is brilliant. I much prefer to use independent cafes and this one is a winner.

Lovely relaxed cafe in the heart of the bustle Portswood high street. Great atmosphere. There was a great menu including plenty of gluten free and vegan options. Nothing was too much trouble and we had a very pleasant break there.

Really nice beach themed café. It's always quite light and airy inside. There are a lot of options for food, including vegetarian and vegan. There are homemade soups and things as well. I've only ever had fry ups here and they were all top notch

Veggie breakfast is excellent. Linda McCartney sausages, fried free-range egg, fried tomato, beans, toast with butter or soya spread, 2 hash browns, and fried mushrooms. They're happy to swap items out.

I've eaten here twice now. Enjoyed the first experience but very much didnt like the second. Meals came undercooked and with long delays between. Toast was brought when we were all at least half way through. With better options I'm not surely I'll bother again. Good veggie/began options.

I greatly respect Kate's love of freshly ground coffee and freshly made bread and her ability to create a warm and cosy atmosphere. However, if she ever attempts to walk down to my house, and chuck a brick through my window with a note attached to it, declaring she makes the best cup of coffee in Southampton, I'll say, 'Oi, Kate, No! You've got a very pleasant coffee shop, but you cannot go around chucking bricks through customer's windows, you are taking liberties!'

If your looking for a greasy spoon with good food, lots of options and want to go to a successful local place instead of going to something corporate, then go to Kates. Kate herself works in the kitchen and helps maintain the quality of everything they send out. Everyone I know who goes out for breakfast or orders out for breakfast goes to Kates and while I'm sure all of us have shopped around we always come back.
