Reviews of The Cafe at the Hawthorns

Enjoyed a lovely pot of tea and a toasted tea cake, served by friendly staff, sat outside on the deck area and watched a mother duck with duckling hunting for insects, also got scrutinised by a very large Robin (which made my day) and all with a tuneful background noise of wild birdsong.
The facilities were absolutely spotless and the ladies toilet was bright and airy and smelt fresh and clean. A great pit stop on my walk around the common

we had a lovely walk around the common,& lunch at the Hawthorns cafe 😋
the lovely ladies in kitchen were working so hard
(it was a hot summers day) 🔥the food was excellent,
with a beautiful view of a pond full of lillies & moorhens.

Visited in June 2022, they do in fact now have a card machine. Staff are very friendly and helpful and the lily pads are very pretty

Small lovely place to have breakfast, tea coffee with a piece of cake.
I like the lake behind the terrace with white lotus flowers. 🌷

Nice little cafe. Limited choice of cake when we were there as they hadn't defrosted!

Great re-opened cafe on Southampton Common. Good menu, lots of seating.

This cafe is not a quaint tea room and initially I only gave it 4☆ but then I thought of how good the food was and how helpful the staff were and didn't feel I could deprive it of top marks. It's a lovely place for a meal or a quick coffee after a walk on the Common.

I love this little cafe. A hidden gem in the Common and I'm so glad it's reopened.

Great place. Well priced too

An oasis of calm, delightful cuppa and delicious cakes.

I do like this place, they do lovely little snacks and the staff are polite. The only downside is that you can't take dogs inside and there's little outdoor seating that you can access with dogs. Since this is by the common (a popular dog walk) surely there should be more accessible, dog-friendly seating.

Really really really nice fresh pizza.
Would have been 5 stars if they took cards and if people with dogs were allowed anywhere but the tatty beaches at the front (or if they did that front bit up to make it more pleasant...)

Great spot, Guy Fiery was not wrong when he featured this place on his DDD show for the Food Network.Wings are very tasty and my big surprise was pizza was very good as well. The staff is super friendly and accommodating they make you feel at home!!Great job guys!!Our whole family really enjoyed our food, the kids loved the pizza and the ranch wings. This place will definitely become a spot we come to again

Beautiful spot surrounded by nature, amazing staff and best coffee in Southampton. The perfect place to get a real Italian espresso!

This cafe has changed completely since my last visit - and for the better! It's now a cheery Italian cafe, with yummy coffee and panettone, a big pizza oven and a big genial Italian host. There's a sunny courtyard for when it's good weather, and lots of indoor seating for when it's not.
A little gem.

This cafe is a hidden gem on the Common in Southampton. It is open every day including holidays and has a good selection of menu options including hot food. I liked the views out over a pond and we saw lots of wildlife out of the windows whilst having coffee.

I regularly come to the Café at the Hawthorns and I have never been disappointed with the food or the service I have received. its a lovely Italian style café hid away for a nice quiet lunch or just a cuppa as a stop off during a walk. The menu offers a surprisingly wide range of delicious food for both adults and children. I particularly recommend Gustoso Toasted Panini. Overall an impressive little café with friendly staff and good food.

Lovely place! Italian styled cafe. Nice menu with pizza, ice cream, bar, education centre, decking outside on to a pond.

Not much gluten free, I tend to have just chips..... if you arent tied with allergies it's a lovely little cafe for a pit stop.

Nice place: decent coffee, and a good bacon and mushroom buttie, which arrived pretty quickly, and brought to the table! Nice blokes behind the counter, too.

Always nice but a pain they only take cash. Am sure would make more money if they did. I know we would have had lunch rather than just a cuppa.

Great little place tucked away where zoo used to be years ago. Food good and pleasant walk at rear to relax and let food go down .
