Reviews of The Yellow Welly
P. G.
On entering this establishment you are met with a very warm and friendly welcome. The ladies are willing to alter the menu to suit individual customer requirements. They were jovial and happily spoke to all the customers. The highlight of my visit today was when a customer kept changing his mind and the two ladies gave a chorus of The Spice Girls song Tell Me What You Want. The other customers embraced the fun and the gentleman himself was thrilled to be sung at. Today I witnessed customer service and customer care at its very best. The food was cooked to order and was delicious and the staff went above and beyond to make the customers visit a memorable one. I will certainly be back and will have no hesitation in recommending this delightful cafe.

Smashing cafe with three lovely ladies there today. It's been a long time since I have been called a gentleman!! Great atmosphere with witty customer banter and excellent food.
D.
Polite and friendly staff, quick service and overall a hot breakfast, if I was in the area I would come back.

We discovered this little gem of a cafe today while looking at berthing our boat at Shamrock Quay. We were welcomed when we walked in and a cheery goodbye as we left. I wanted to take the time to collect the ladies names as they deserve a personal thanks from my husband and me. Vicky the food was exceptional and so tasty. Jessie such a lovely young lady to have on the till and Debbie thank you for the witty conversation, you have a great sense of humour. A lovely atmosphere even though they must have been melting in the heat. They took time and the trouble to ensure ALL the customers were content and happy. Cannot praise our experience enough. We have never come across such welcoming and happy establishment before. We will definitely return and will definitely recommend.

Wow, what a great experience the food was top-quality and really tasty. Friendly staff. Will definitely be visiting again and recommending.

I enjoyed a cracking fry-up with my grandmother and friends early on Sunday morning.
The food was great and the staff are very helpful.

Great cafe, great food and the names on the uniform (Special and Crazy) certainly suits those two members of staff - they are mad!!! A must go to cafe to visit

Now where do I start?! This place is the best place on earth. The food is amazing and so is the customer service. One employee which I think the name of the employee is Vicky was the nicest person ever. She cooked my sausage baguette to perfection and I would love to say a big thank you to her!

5 Star Hygiene Rating displayed on the door, and very worthy of it, you feel you could eat your food from the floor. Visually as you walk in, you can see it's a clean/hygienic environment, and well managed. They take pride in what they do, and the food they produce. I had breakfasts in the morning, which consisted of baguettes with fillings, then they were providing lunch for a small group during a course I was on, and ALL thoroughly loved the food. They genuinely provide quality food, the butchers sausages are to die for, full of flavour. I thanked you personally, but I'd like to thank you publicly for your attentiveness, professionalism and great food. I'll see you again in the future for sure.

Been there with my cycling mates last Sunday and we had the most amazing breakfast. All freshly cooked. Weel done. Highly recommended a hidden gem.

Great staff and a wonderful tasty breakfast on a lovely sunny day in a great place - clean, friendly and yummy food ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Nice friendly place. Good sandwich and nice cup of tea. Real greasy spoon cafe.

Very busy morning ,queues down the road but each customer was met with happy and bright staff who, even when the grill gave up (possibly under pressure of work) the customers were kept informed. The staff were so calm and laid back and it became fun and funny as cheers went up as each customers food arrived. Great atmosphere created by Crazy and Special, two wonderful ladies and a great start to the morning. Loved the question 'leaded or unleaded for the Coke?' Still trying to work out what film that is from??? Cannot recommend this cafe or the staff enough.

Foods are delicious and all hand made. All the members are so friendly and service is really quick. Strongly suggest this place.

Great food and a warm, friendly welcome I’ll be back soon!

Lovely food and very clean! Also the ladies in the cafe are very welcoming and are happy to cater to all needs. Now a regular breakfast and lunch spot would highly recommended
A. B.
Went into this establishment both yesterday and today. The two ladies yesterday created such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Obviously very happy in their work. Sadly, the ladies today not as welcoming and happy. However, he food on both days was cooked fresh to order and the breakfasts are delicious, especially the sausages. Would go back without hesitation for another breakfast

Pays you to check who's cooking. Chef on Saturdays is usually very good. Chef on this Saturday was so miserable and my husband and me were both missing our toast order. Thank you to the other lady who was working for sorting it out, she is the reason you have 3*
Following on from this review I have been in email contact with Ted (I believe the owner) and am satisfied this is a one off incident. Our previous visits have been very enjoyable and the food delicious. We have always been made to feel welcome by Debbie and the usual Saturday cook. We will be using Yellow Welly again for another enjoyable breakfast. Following on from this and the prompt response to my dissatisfaction the stars have been up graded
Enjoyable visit with excellent food and very friendly and welcoming staff. Previous issues have all been very successfully addressed. Pleasure to upgrade to 5*

Even though it was exceptionally busy with no seats to be had, the staff were chipper and took time to treat each customer as an individual. Good and very tasty lunchtime breakfast cooked by Kelly and Debbie had a welcoming natter with everyone, even sharing a short song with one chap as he paid. Great place and looking forward to next visit.
H. M.
Very polite staff, wonderful food, lovely location

Spot on breakfast today from the very happy and friendly chef. Sausages and black pudding are really good. One little whinge. The young lady taking the orders could try smiling and saying hello to us customers, we are use to happy staff at the Yellow Welly at weekends. See you next week for another BK2 and black pudding.

My wonderful neighbour Debbie presented me with a cream tea as a surprise. What a delicious box of delights containing home made sandwiches, cakes and scone with proper clotted cream. What an absolute pleasure. to eat I am 85 at the end of September and plan to have a few friends (that are left) round for the afternoon and think it would be a marvellous idea to serve Yellow Welly cream teas to my friends and family as this would be a wonderful addition to the day. Highly recommended and thank you for such a lovely treat

Discovered this cafe Sat. A warm yet cheeky welcome from Debbie. Jean cooked a great meal for me and the guys and the banter between the two of them and the customer was spot on. Today (Sun) we went back. Debbie gave us as good as she got from the ribbing. Another lady there today (sadly do not know her name) joined in the fun and made the visit enjoyable. Can't fault the meal. Will be back in 2 weeks and we will return. Great atmosphere and great staff. Told the ladies I planned to leave a review and by any chance is Debbie single?????

As The Cove had ceased trading we decided to go into The Yellow Welly. There was a warm and friendly welcome from the two ladies and a charming atmosphere. Our meals were cooked to order and were very tasty. The cook was more than happy to change or alter the menu to suit the customers requirements and she delivered the food with a cheery smile and greeting. A bright goodbye was afforded to us as we left. Not our usual type of eating establishment but in this case we would be more than happy to return.

This is a rewrite of my previous post as I wouldn't normally do this but praise where praise is due. Even though short staffed due to sickness and a limited menu, the cafe was very busy and queued to the door. Debbie's son (loved his Pokemon tee shirt) was on the till and had been so obviously thrown in the deep end to help, and like his mum always is, was happy and chatty. Must say he handled the stupid kids that came in very tactfully . Didn't have to wait too long for our food. Difficult day handled very well. Hopefully staff will recover soon so fully menu is available.

Lovely cafe nice and friendly good food

After reading the reviews decided to give this place a go today (Sat 16/02). Not disappointed. The staff are exceptional, very happy and never stopped smiling. Breakfast was marvellous and they are willing to change or alter the menu to suit the customer. Customer service and care at its best. We will definitely be back for another BK2

Discovered The Yellow Welly by accident today. Even though packed and we had the only vacant table, the staff were superb. The lady taking the orders was friendly and the lady cooking smiled and acknowledged everyone throughout. The food was spot on and cooked to perfection. I tried to leave a review on Facebook but unsuccessful so I hope the Yellow Welly staff read this. Great experience and thank you
C. H.
First visit today after reading so many positive reviews. Great food, good price and two very jolly, amusing and friendly ladies . Downside - very, very busy and popular place so no seats inside or out and customer were eating standing up. Better to have food as a take away.
R. C.
Popped in for a coffee and toastie, great spot, excellent service
N. P.
Good quality food and very welcoming staff
M. L.
Called in today (Easter Monday). Very refreshing to be greeted as I walked in and a cheery goodbye as I left. The staff are happy and friendly who took the time to chat with all customers whether a first time visitor like me or one of the obvious regulars. Very pleasant atmosphere. 5*
P. B.
Found by accident today (Saturday) Cook could have been happier and it is a shame it took two attempts for her to get the breakfast right. However, when it did arrived the food was good especially the sausages. The four stars are for the sausages and the other member of staff who put our order right in such a pleasant and good humoured way without any fuss. Last two reasons is why we will return
B. C.
First visit to Shamrock Quay on this beautiful Saturday. Called into Yellow Welly (love the name) to be greeted by very cheerful and enthusiastic staff. Great food and a great atmosphere (totally down to the staff) and even though exceptionally busy and there was a wait for a seat, the staff were not fazed and remained chirpy throughout. 5* recommended
M. M.
Difficult and a very busy day for the ladies behind the counter but it was met with laughter and jollity. A big thank you to the gentleman who repaired the grill so I could have my bacon, much appreciated. Excellent customer care
F. C.
Had a very tasty range of breakfast sandwiches.
Reasonable pricing and extremely friendly service.
Highly recommend helping this local independent cafe on Shamrock Quay, as parking and marina vista available.

Came here as we wanted someone to sit and look at the boats while having a coffee. Fantastic coffee, amazing welcoming staff, would highly recommend and will definitely return!!
K. I.
What can i say?? Two great ladies. Debbie and Jean with their chatty and jolly nature who obviously thrived working together and made a happy experience for the customer. Only downside, it is very busy and no where to sit. Shame we all had to settle for take away sandwiches rather than a sit down meal.
R. M.
Following on from Mr Bryce's comments about his visit I wanted to add that I also experienced an issue with my breakfast and missing items, but wanted to add that it was very quickly and efficiently resolved by Debbie (behind the till). I was in again today and was met with a cheery welcome again from Debbie and a very happy, cheery lady called Kelly who was cooking. Maybe the cook had a bad day Saturday and have no qualms in giving The Yellow Welly 5*
K. E.
Cream tea is well worth getting with lots of food, filled me up. The staff are really frendly and fun. Good food and excellent service and good value. I go here lots :)
C. T.
First visit yesterday (Sat). Great traditional fry up for breakfast . The ladies are very chatty, welcoming and happy for first thing in the morning and helped to make the visit even more enjoyable. All good reasons to come back again
D. C.
After seeing the reviews decided to give this cafe a go. Miserable Sunday but we were greeted with a very friendly, warm welcome by an incredibly happy lady for first thing in the morning. Had a great full english cooked to perfection. Definitely recommend
H. G.
Well done to your staff member for handling those awkward and obnoxious young men today in such a placid and composed way. Personally I would have shown them the door. They did redeemed themselves when they all thanked her as they left. Well handled and we will definitely be returning for another great breakfast.
J. C.
Fantastic food, well priced and staff are friendly and accommodating. Always served with a friendly smile.
D. E.
Always love these two ladies, good fun and such a great atmosphere when they are working. Like the rendition of grease lightening, can't get the song out of my head now. Cheers for that. Homemade gingerbread is spot on
A. W.
Food cooked well and very good as always. Guy on till a bit slow and needs to smile but will be back .
C. W.
A regular lunch time spot for me. I pre-order my food by phone to avoid the busy lunch time rush, the Yellow Welly is extremely popular! Food is great, staff friendly, the place is clean and the price is very fair.
W. M.
Food great but service terrible. The girl on the till should learn to smile at your customers and get the drink orders right. No where near to your usual standard
G. C.
The wait for food was very long and although we asked for food well cooked it wasn't which was a shame as there was plenty of it but it is pricey for what it was
P. B.
Top cafe brilliant staff
K. W.
Wonderful staff, witty and a beaming smile for all. Highly recommend the sausages. Very easy 5* (visit 27/02/20)
