Reviews of Bolton Gate Farm Ltd

Had a lovely visit here yesterday. Myself and three friends called for tea and cake. The choice was very good and all home baked which is even better! The cakes were delicious. The guy who served us made us very welcome and a really nice chap. They do sandwiches and light meals too that looked very nice as they served them to the tables around us. Everywhere was spotlessly clean, lots of seating both indoors and out. I really recommend you call in, you won't be dissapointed.

We visited to watch a performance of Dracula. We had some lunch before the play and the food was really good. We only had toasties but the toast was thick and with ample fillings. The play was excellent performed by a touring company. The outside venue makes it really special. The weather was kind but we were prepared for rain. Highly recommended. We will visit again.

Cracking full English breakfast and a amazing croissant, would definitely recommend and will be back again. Large selection of coffees and teas, vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. Free WiFi, friendly staff.

I've been a couple of times and I do like it here. Love the decor and that they're dog friendly. Staff have always seemed nice too. However, I just feel the pricing of certain items is not great. For example, main meals seem OK, but side order of chips/fries, over £3 and a teacake was £3. A child can have either a ham, or a cheese toastie. An adult one consists of both, but you lay £2 more for the added cheese or ham. Don't get me wrong, food and drinks are lovely and good quality. But I won't be going as often as I'd like as I just can't afford to.

A well thought out café that has indoor eating.
Great food and awesome coffee ☕ too. And, what's also fantastic is your dogs are allowed!
And two outdoor areas, one area outdoors but covered, and a completely open area if the weather permits.
Highly recommended.

It was ok but not as good as some reviews. Issues with the coffee machine and not much choice for breakfast. Food was good.n

It was wonderful working with Bolton Gate Arts, curating their café for an art exhibition and preview event. They are a really friendly team and I would recommend working with them.

Having visited here recently, felt it was worthy of a 5* review!
The food here is amazing; the homemade coronation chicken being the tastiest I've ever had and the triple chocolate brownies second to none!
The coffee here is also really good, so many different types to choose from! I tried the latte which again could not fault at all.
The location is perfect too, situated next to Parkhall Country Park and access is directly off the main road.
Really looking forward to our next visit soon! 😋👌

One word: fundamentals.
Visited early in the morning for a quick drink and bite to eat. The bite being some toast and jam. When the toast came, it was on the 'light' side and I did have to check it had been toasted (it had). However, only people who have mortal enemies serve cold butter with toast and on this occasion, we were unfortunately the enemies. Cold butter just destroys toast, it's impossible to butter a slice of toast with cold butter. We did ask for the butter to be warmed to make it spreadable, the first attempt didn't work but the second lot which was brought out did. By this time, however, the toast was cold. Paying a hefty premium for something as simple as toast should never warrant a negative experience.
One other thing was the size of the regular latte glass. With it being so small, the coffee ended up being much too strong for it to be a latte and ended up being more of a flat white.
Positives: pleasant staff, nice interior and exterior, great tea.
TL;DR - nice café let down by fundamentals.

Initially when we pulled onto the rough car park in the pouring rain, I wondered where on earth had we come, however I needn’t have worried.
The cafe looks to be a newly created building in the farmyard. Inside it was warm and nicely decorated with framed prints from local artists. The kitchen set up looked modern, clean and the staff were well organised.
We arrived just as breakfast was finishing and the lunch menu kicked in. There seems to be a very good choice for breakfasts but lunch was limited to a choice of Toasties. The breakfasts looked delicious. We had the Coronation Chicken toastie which was nicely presented and tasted great.
We also had a large latte which was served in a glass with no handle and at £3.10 I felt was a bit steep, the food though was good value. It would be nice to see the lunchtime menu expanded to include staples such as Jacket potatoes and perhaps Oatcakes served all day.
This is a new business and it seems they have got off to a flying start. It’s definitely one of the better independent cafes in the area and I wish them well.

Great place, friendly staff and good food. Situated on the edge of the country park it is a perfect place for people to drop in. Love that there is outdoor seating too.

Me and my partner had breakfast here and it was delicious. I had a veggie one and have to say it's the best veggie breakfast I've ever had! Lovley meat free alternatives and the eggs on both breakfasts we're cooked to perfection!
The staff went above and beyond to make us feel comfy and supply us with a top notch breakfast.

Giving the Sheep Pen Theater big thumbs up ! Saw Hound of the Baskervilles play outside today. Great show. Well done to the farm for staging this event. Trying to carry off such a play in a field with few props and no scenery , yet still keeping you up with the plot was good work. Great show. Thanks to whoever organised the bright sunshine.
