Went on a Saturday lunch time. Place was busy and we were lucky to get a table. Glad we did, gentleman who runs the place (Tom) welcomed us, showed us the table and served us. Very friendly and helped with questions about the menu. Food was brilliant, and nice range of small bites, brunch / breakfasts, and larger meals, including some specials. To top it off, cakes were amazing. Fantastic venue. It's lucky they offer take away too, as a few people had to wait for tables. I can see why it is popular!! Will definitely be back.

Just called into see if there was room, suprise there was. So I had a Breakfast Bagette the wife had a Sausage Bagette & to drink hot chocolate both were excellent. The hot chocolate was HOT unlike some places where it's tepid. Will call again sometime.

I was not myself when I wrote a disingenuous 1 star review on the Cariad Cafe. Since then I have matured my mindset by reading the Book Of Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. I have come to realise that Cariad is matched only by the Roma Fish Bar in terms of quality. Only maligant twitterturds would find this food unattractive. However, reformed and benign individuals such as myself realise the food is as pleasing as trolling a kid on xbox live to the point of rage quit, YES THE FOOD IS THAT ENJOYABLE. I would suggest black listing furries from such a renowned establisment as they are not worthy to indulge on such an ethereal cuisine. Would do a skype and dine with my discord kitten here again 5/5.

Fantastic little cafe with freshly prepared food and cakes. Trying to get seated here is often a pain but I guess that's testament to the popularity of the cafe. Food and drink are both great and service is always with a smile! Free parking across the street too. Great place to meet friends and just relax.

This cafe is a gem. I love the breakfast, I often have the vegetarian option and it is always good. Quality ingredients, friendly service and good value for money. The staff are always pleasant and the cafe is kept reasonably clean considering how busy it often is. They offer free WiFi which is handy as Penclawdd is known for poor phone reception in certain areas.

Fab cafe. Large free car park nearby, so very easy to get there. No views but great, value for money food. Everything cooked to order so really fresh. Would recommend for breakfast, brunch, lunch or afternoon tea and delicious cake

Excellent Cariad breakfast with side order of delicious Welsh laverbread. Lovely coffee and large slice of cake to finish. I'm taking a point off as there is no seat in the ladies/disabled toilet - but I'm sure they are getting that sorted.

Really tasty breakfast here which means it's incredibly busy in the morning and crossing the road from the car park is like a game of frogger.... so timing is everything! Would have given 5 stars but the chairs are really uncomfortable and mine was so rickety I think it may have been used in a circus balancing act. Nevertheless we will be visiting again....perhaps with my own cushion!

Cariad is for us a home from home. We regularly have breakfast there which is always delicious. We often end up taking home one (or most likely two!) of their delicious cakes. The staff are welcoming, warm and friendly and it is simply a pleasure spending time there.

Average breakfast, good coffee, poor service. Cariad cafe is always packed, although half the seats are taken up by the elderly (people my age) with a thimbleful of coffee / tea left in their cup which lasts them hours, while others stand around waiting for a table to free up. The breakfast offering lacks the essential ingredient: black pudding and as is usually the case these days, the egg isn't placed on the toast, but as a centre piece covering the beans, hash brown, bacon and the execrable mushrooms. The bacon is good, very good in fact - thickly sliced and tasty, but this is amply offset by the soggy hashbrown, watery, tasteless mushrooms and bready sausage. Happily, the coffee is really good though. The service can best be described as "grudging", almost as if I should be showing a bit more gratitude for them taking my money. At twelve quid for two coffees, a breakfast baguette and an entry-level brekky, it's not extortionate, but not particularly good value either. 5/10
