Great vibe, friendly owners, and best of all - comforting good food! The scones are a must-try, the omelette was just the right amount of fluffy and not too greasy, and we really enjoyed the barm with runny egg. Would definitely go there again for their afternoon tea sometime!

I can’t praise this place enough. This my second review for CJ’s since today was a visit for afternoon tea, and I can say it is the best I have had in Warrington. Beautiful sandwiches made to order, a selection of homemade cakes and the best scone I’ve ever tasted. Unlimited hot tea/coffee too. The service was very good, we were checked on and offered more drinks and the atmosphere in the tea room was great. When we came to pay the bill I was shocked at the price after paying a lot more in other places for lower quality food. Thank you so much!

I'm so glad I picked this place as my first afternoon tea. Myself and my mum received generous portions of various cakes and sandwiches, with such a cute set of cups, saucers and teapot for our tea. When I had mentioned we'd come as it was my 31st the previous day, they even popped a lit candle in the scone, which was such a nice little touch (thank you for not singing 😊). The staff were all lovely, so I'd definitely come back in future. Definitely beats any of the franchise cafes.

Called in for lunch, we hadn't been for some time, so glad we did. The welcome from Alison, who quickly prepared the table just vacated by previous clients, was excellent. The food arrives quickly post orders placed, is very tasty, presentable and great value. The flat white coffee is also the best I've had for a while. Ben and Alison will always make time for a chat too in between taking and delivering orders. Penketh is very lucky to have this coffee shop on the doorstep.

Visited this morning with my wife and baby, gorgeous food! The sausages were so good my baby ate them and he never wants to have sausages! Very plesent and outgoing owners, couldn't of asked for a better morning there. We enjoyed it that much we bought a voucher for afternoon tea for my aunties birthday. Booked a table for afternoon tea and could not have been happier with the whole experience! Fantastic food - lush cakes, wonderful sandwiches, huge scones and really tasty strawberries. The bottomless drinks was an excellent touch too. Fantastic friendly service - we could not have been made to feel more welcome from the moment we walked in the door to the moment we left. Fantastic atmosphere - warm, clean, happy, cosy cafe with lovely art on the walls. Fantastic value for money - one of the best value afternoon teas I’ve had. They even gave us tubs to take home the couple of cakes we didn’t manage to eat (don’t worry, they were devoured later in the day!) Fantastic communication - we messaged a few weeks before and got friendly kind and fast responses to our booking request. On the day, a few hours before our booking, we had to make a last minute change due to illness. They couldn’t have been more accommodating and helpful about it. Even boxed us up a takeaway afternoon tea to take home for my wife who was ill and couldn’t make it. Such a nice idea that I wouldn’t have thought to ask for. Whilst sitting chatting and enjoying our afternoon tea experience I noticed some amazing looking food being taken to other tables - breakfast looked sooo good! Definitely 5 stars from me for this little local gem ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lovely independently owned cafe. The surroundings are bright and clean, the food is nicely presented and freshly made to order. Delicious cakes, baked by the owner. Service is always friendly and efficient. A little gem in Penketh.

Liased directly with the owner to arrange an afternoon tea for a friend's 90th birthday. They couldn't have been more accommodating. Everything went to plan and we had a wonderful time with the most lovely food served in a great atmosphere. Everything homemade and delicious and the members of our party who are gluten free were well catered for. Would highly recommend

Forget the big chains.. these guys are the best, their coffee is better, their food is better, when you walk through their door you are greeted as a friend rather than their next order.. Penketh is very lucky to have such a lovely place. If you havent been you really should go.

Ben is always willing to do whatever he can to accommodate requests. Highly recommend (but don't want it so busy I can't get a table!!!)x

Ben and Alison are fab. They look after all the customers as though they are friends. Love the coffee and that they have their own blend made. I have had bacon 🥓 and egg 🥚 barm on several occasions and it has always been fab. The scones with jam and cream are some of the best around. I quite often have them as a cake away.

I have been looking for a family owned coffee house as I was sick of the second rate coffee from Costa, was recommended this coffee house, what a little gem, coffee is fantastic, the husband and wife team are very friendly with plenty of banter, I can recommend the home made scones, my new go to place.

2nd review ben and wifey are the mostly of the hosty over the last few weeks my brother has introduced my wife and my self to this most homely and warmth of a place and the food is not to bad neither in which we try not to miss are breakfast every saturday morning especially the newly introduced black pudding in which is an added perfection to a lovely breakfast lovely place to come to advised to book a table on a sat morning or you will sad not to do so keep it up guys cos you deserve this 👍👍👍
