Reviews of Highdown Tea Rooms
E. H.
Very nice cafe with great selection of teas, coffees, cakes etc. Didn't take much notice of any other food/drink options as was meeting with friends that I hadn't seen in a while.
Lovely outdoor seating area in beautiful setting.
Despite only a few customers seated inside, the noise level was quite high. It would be even nicer if something could acoustics were improved.
Dog friendly, you can even buy 'dog ice cream'. Although, I'm not sure about dogs eating icy foods and the effect on their digestive system, but that's just my opinion.
Thank you for a very enjoyable time!
D. R.
A really nice place to eat. The menu is simple but very well done. Everything gives you the feeling that it is done with pride. The food is tasty, portions are generous (but not excessive). The staff are nice. The cafe is comfortable, well presented and clean.
S. B.
Really lovely tearoom, with outside seating. Good service and good range of gluten free food available. The gluten free bread was one of the best I had tasted. So definitely recommend this place.
Parking was easy, and had a lovely walk around the gardens, which was free afterwards.
C. G.
Lovely setting with walks to Highdown Hill and visits to the Chalk garden. The Hotel might provide competition to the Tea Rooms as an alternative place to eat and drink. We sat at a table out side the Tea Room and ordered cream teas, cake and coffee, the order arrived incomplete but was soon rectified. Sadly the carrot cake muffin was dry and crumbly as were the scones but the drinks were good. I went in to purchase some Waggy Tails ice cream for the dog, it was priced up at two pounds but I was told that it was now two pounds fifty and could not have it for the advertised price!
All a little disappointing.

Went on a Sunnyside morning when the tea room was quiet. It was very pleasant just relaxing with a few friends and catching up gossips while sipping a cup of tea and munching a piece of sandwiches or cake.
H. B.
Amazing service. Excellent panini. The cakes looked delicious. Beautiful surroundings. Really enjoyed our visit
A. K.
Good spot to rest up and chat enjoy a coffee and bun . Dog friendly. Popular and busy and service could be quicker! Nice outside patio area.
G. R.
Lovely breakfast, sandwiches, cakes and huge tasty scones. This visit was for breakfast and at £7.10 it's possibly the best you'll get in Worthing. The place has a lovely feel, is incredibly dog friendly and is a great way to start or finish a walk on the downs.
R. S.
Great coffee, nice and strong.
Indoor and outdoor seating.
Great savoury snack menu.
Lovely staff and quick service.
Worth the 5 mile walk round trip
K. H.
Super little tearooms next to Highdown Gardens and Highdown Hill. Great place to stop for a light meal. The scones are delicious.
L. C.
Not bad. The three stars go to the lovely outdoor sitting area and the fine china. Staff can be quite frosty, selection of cakes and snacks isn't great.
K. C.
Lovely tea rooms , delightful warm scones and a quite a few to choose from and lots more on the menu ! Friendly staff that make you feel welcome.
J. C.
Great coffee, great setting, the bonus of several dogs is also a draw usually
M. Y.
Superb food and staff are second to none. attentive, polite, admirable qualities.
J. F.
Lovely atmosphere and ambience both inside and out. Food was tasty and the service friendly and accommodating. All in all a very welcoming place to eat 😋
Z. W.
Visited on a beautiful sunny day and sat outside. You have to order inside and pay, and then you take a table number with you and the food/beverages will be brought out to your table. The vanilla iced coffees were amazing! The only downside is they were very small (especially for the price). The cranberry, brie and bacon panini was so tasty and filling, and came with a lovely side coleslaw. Everything was presented nicely and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would love to come back for scones, tea and cakes!
J. C.
Nice experience, patisserie fantastic teacups, tea pot and other accessories all the same design. You can sit in or out in the garden. Building very old, staff young and great.
D. G.
Lovely place to get a drink cake or ice cream after a walk round the lovely gardens
n. w.
We often stop here for coffee and cakes and it's always lovely
Highdown Hill with nice walks and views is just around the corner so stop here before or after you walk and enjoy the experience.

The BEST scones with clotted cream and jam (oh yeah, a pot of tea as well), In The World!
The scones simply melt in your mouth.
Delicious!
The staff are friendly and work with covid awareness. Thanks.
A. C.
Great coffee, toasted panini and cake. Had a great lunch here. Will most likely return.
R. P.
Off of a busy dual carriageway it's situated behind the hotel at the end of a narrow lane.
We had coffee and scones which were quite acceptable and not over priced.
L. J.
Lovely tea room. Cream tea was good and decent tea nice and strong. Sandwiches also looked nice. Need more outdoor seating but otherwise would recommend
M. W.
We visited this afternoon and sat in the beautiful sunshine. It was lovely and peaceful and service was friendly and very efficient. I had a lovely cream tea, the scone was warm and absolutely delicious. The cakes looked yummy too. Will be returning for lunch soon.
S. A. C.

Been a long time since I went up to highdown tea rooms but service was excellent and coffee and panini were definitely spot on. Great food in a nice chilled enviroment
A. R.
Nice surroundings. Not a big selection of eats. But still a nice place to chill out.
A. B.
Well organised for C19 with a Track & Trace QR code at the door. Nice menu, dog friendly and nice staff. Outside seating is plentiful. A lovely place to rest after walking the dog. 😃 🐶
M. K.
I had a bacon, brie panini which was delicious. I ate half of it and got the lady in the tea room to put in a bag 4 me to take away. I ate the rest next day.
C. C.
Lovely place, nice to have a walk there. Dogs welcome. But the food quality had dropped a little, shame.
S. P.
A very limited selection of food but my bacon sandwich and elderflower cordial was nice. I wouldn't rush to go back there again.
P. M.
Went for a lunchtime break. Not busy and lovely outside area. Service was good. A bonus with the government 50% off deal Monday to Wednesday it was a nice surprise. Menu was limited but nice selection.
G. V.
Very good first time we went in and service, but Second time we were forgotten, and had ask for our order again, but beautiful gardens.
C. D.
Nice cake and coffee in a wooded setting, well worth a couple of hours of your time.(Very polite staff too).
J. B.
Lovely morning out with a friend for a coffee
p. c.
Its lovely now that it's open again. Unfortunately they dont accept cash, only card payments, which is very off-putting as not everyone carries their cards with them. They must sort this out otherwise it will put people off visiting
R. Y.
Friendly staff and other diners, cakes are great quality. Whilst eating I was informed by a member of staff that I had a flat tyre, instead calling AA and wait half an hour they lent me a tyre pump, very helpful.
l. h.
First visit since the old tearooms closed. cakes and scones a lot smaller, the cups/mugs too, also I believe dearer but all in all we had a nice lunch and good flavours.
A. W.
Quaint cafe, friendly, and obliging. Catered for my gluten free and dairy free diet.
A. M.
My favourite tea room even if it is sometimes full of dogs! Staff are brilliant, food is excellent and the lemon and blueberry cake is amazing.
Well worth a visit.
T. C.
Great scones with proper cream and jam, that are absolutely huge! Quite small though so it does get busy quickly. Lovely service as well though.
J. R.

P. B.
Much appreciated the refurbishment of these Tea Rooms . Thanks to new owners . A tad pricey but staff friendly and efficient .I personally think this place is good but homemade cakes ,not as lovely.
